Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. A new ad from ‘Republican Voters Against Trump’ features Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) one of Donald Trump’s most vocal supporters, denouncing the president in his own words in 2015, and declaring his love for Joe Biden.

Says Graham in the spot, titled Lindsey Graham Loves Joe Biden: “I want to talk to the Trump supporters for a minute. What is Donald Trump’s campaign about? He’s a race baiting, xenophobic religious bigot. And you know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to Hell.“

“If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, you’ve got a problem,” Graham continues. “You need to do some self-evaluation, ‘cause, what’s not to like? He is as good a man as God ever created. He’s said some of the most incredibly heartfelt things that anybody could ever say to me. He’s the nicest person I think I’ve ever met in politics.”

His daughter Mikhaila is with him and spoke to Nedeljnik about his ongoing fight with the addiction to anti-anxiety medication.

“We will be here for at least a couple of months”, Mikhaila told Nedeljnik in a wide-ranging interview in Belgrade that will be published in the next issue of Nedeljnik.

They flew in to Belgrade from Florida last week.

I hope the psycharistists fully understand the drugs they gave long-term to this psychologist.

Best wishes to Dr Peterson and family for a speedy recovery.

  3. Senior Turkish Official Calls on Muslim ‘Umma’ to Free Jerusalem (breitbart, Jun 14, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2020/06/14/turkey-senior-turkish-official-calls-on-muslim-umma-to-free-jerusalem/

“Turkey’s top religious official vowed over the weekend to continue Islam’s struggle “until Jerusalem is completely free” and called on the Muslim world to rally against Israel.

“It is never possible for Muslims to give up on the blessed city” of Jerusalem, President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbas said in Turkish-language comments carried by T24 media and translated by the Jerusalem Post.

According to Erbas, Jerusalem has “universal value” for the Islamic world.

His views echo those of Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu who recently said, “The ummah [Islamic community] will never give up on a sovereign Palestinian state with Quds al-Sharif as its capital.”

Erbas’ Twitter background features a photo of Jerusalem, not Mecca, the Post noted, despite the fact that Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Quran. According to the report, it exemplifies one of the myriad ways Ankara is “adopting the Palestinian cause and turning Jerusalem into “Islamic” cause to rally the Middle East against Israel” and is part of an increase in Islamist rhetoric coming out of the country.

That trend has seen campaigns by Turkey’s ostensibly secular military referred to as “jihad” as well as Turkish-backed fighters calling their enemies “atheists” and “infidels,” the report said. It has also seen more and more discussions surrounding the proposed conversion of Istanbul’s ancient Hagia Sophia church into a mosque again.

According to Erbas, “those who occupy Jerusalem find courage because they see Islamic societies as scattered and weak.”

“Our president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] advocates the loudest for he case of Jerusalem. Turkey will always be with all Muslims from East Turkestan [Xinjiang province in China] to Palestine.”

Turkey has a long history of courting the Hamas terror group and has sought to expand its role in Palestinian society.”

  4. Palestinian Government Announces Inability to Pay Salaries to Employees (sputniknews, Jun 14, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202006141079612456-palestinian-government-announces-inability-to-pay-salaries-to-employees/

“The Palestinian government cannot pay salaries to its employees, as it did not receive tax deductions from Israel, spokesman Ibrahim Milhim said on Sunday.

“The government did not receive tax deductions from Israel. The Palestinian leadership will not be subject to Israeli blackmail. When the necessary funds for salary payment appear in the Ministry of Finance, then the government will pay all salaries”, Milhim said at a press conference.

Last week, Milhim said that the Palestinian government refused to accept Israeli monthly tax transfers for goods produced within its territory, as the country cut its ties with Israel.

The spokesman added that there were “casualties in every battle” and “personnel are partners in this battle”.

In late May, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas decided to terminate all treaties with the United States and Israel, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioning the potential annexation of the Jordan River’s West Bank territories.

Israel has for decades been in conflict with the Palestinians, who seek diplomatic recognition for their independent state on the territories of the West Bank which were occupied by the Jewish state during the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel has been refusing to recognize Palestine as a state and defying UN resolutions in the process.”

  5. French Presidency Slams Turkey’s ‘Unacceptable’ Conduct in Libya
    https://english.aawsat.com/home/article/2334156/french-presidency-slams-turkey%E2%80%99s-unacceptable-conduct-libya

“France Sunday slammed Turkey’s “aggressive” intervention in Libya as unacceptable, accusing it of violating a UN arms embargo and sending half a dozen ships to the war-torn country’s coast.

Paris is angered by an “even more aggressive and insistent stance from Turkey, with seven Turkish ships deployed off the Libyan coast and violations of the arms embargo,” a senior presidential official said.

“The Turks are behaving in an unacceptable manner and are exploiting NATO. France cannot just stand by,” added the official.

French President Emmanuel Macron has already held talks on the issue this week with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, and “exchanges will take place in the weeks to come on this subject with NATO partners,” AFP quoted the official as saying.

The comments came after a Turkish warship Wednesday prevented a new EU naval mission enforcing the Libya arms embargo from checking a suspect freighter off the Libyan coast.

Turkey has sent Syrian fighters, military advisors and drones in support of the Government of National Accord (GNA) against Libyan National Army (LNA) leader Khalifa Haftar.

Russia and Turkey have postponed ministerial-level talks which were expected to focus on Libya and Syria.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov decided to put off the talks during a phone call on Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

“The two countries deputy ministers will continue contacts and talks in the period ahead. Minister-level talks will be held at a later date,” the ministry said in a statement.

Lavrov and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had been set to visit Istanbul for the discussions.”

  6. Greece picks up 36 more migrants off Lesbos
    https://english.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2020/6/14/greece-picks-up-36-more-migrants-off-lesbos

“Thirty-six migrants travelling from Turkey were spotted off Lesbos and transferred to a temporary settlement in the north of the island, Greece’s coastguard said on Sunday.

Among the group, “one person had to be hospitalised”, a coastguard press office official told AFP, without giving further details.

The rest of the group were safely transferred to a migrant facility on Lesbos and quarantined for seven days under measures to combat coronavirus, the source said.

According to the Greek state news agency ANA, the group is made up of 10 women, 10 children and 16 men, all from Iran and Afghanistan.

Their boat was spotted on Saturday morning but the rescue and transfer operation did not take place until midnight, according to the coastguard.

Migrant advocacy NGOs, Aegean Boat Report and Watch the Med, denounced on social media the Greek and Turkish coastguards for leaving the boat in distress offshore “for 14 hours” while they both attempted to palm off responsibility.

With the boat in their waters on Saturday evening, the Greek coastguard finally rescued the migrants.

Migrants trying to reach Europe to flee war and poverty frequently use this narrow area between Greece and Turkey in the Aegean Sea.

There have been numerous reports from NGOs and the media published in recent months accusing Greece of driving migrants backs towards Turkey.

On Friday the UN’s refugee agency, the International Organization for Migration and the EU called on Athens to “urgently open an investigation” into the matter and “take the necessary measures”.

It is the third boat to arrive in Lesbos since the beginning of June.

A total of 108 migrants have been rescued off the island in the last two weeks, according to ANA, an increase in numbers after a significant drop in previous months due to restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”

  7. Moroccan Police Arrest Four in Laayoune for Irregular Migration, Fraud
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2020/06/305800/moroccan-police-arrest-four-in-laayoune-for-irregular-migration-fraud/

“Moroccan police arrested on June 11 four suspects for their alleged links with a criminal network active in irregular migration and fraud in Laayoune.

One of the suspects is an ex-convict, a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has said.

The arrests came after security services received complaints of suspicious activity from six sub-Saharan nationals.

Police also received a video attesting to the payment of sums of money to the suspects to help sub-Saharan irregular migrants reach the Canary Islands aboard inflatable boats.

Preliminary investigations enabled police to arrest the suspects and identify the victims involved in the crime. Security services seized nine mobile phones at one of the suspect’s houses.

Police put the suspects in custody for further investigation to arrest possible accomplices involved in the case.

The arrests are similar to several other operations Morocco has carried out this year. The most recent arrest was on May 25 in the city of Dakhla, where police arrested 25 sub-Saharan migrants.

Another operation took place on May 17, leading to the arrest of six suspects involved in organizing irregular migration.

The operations are part of Morocco’s efforts to fight undocumented and human trafficking networks

Moroccan police managed to abort more than 74,000 irregular migration attempts in 2019. The country’s efforts to fight irregular migration attracted the attention of international bodies and partners, who continue to laud the country’s fight against irregular migration.

In February, the European Parliament (EP) said the world should acknowledge Morocco’s efforts to curb irregular migration.”

  8. Islamic economy can lead out of crisis: Turkish leader
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/islamic-economy-can-lead-out-of-crisis-turkish-leader/1876509

“Islamic tools offer a “key” to get out of the economic woes the world is now facing, Turkey’s president said on Sunday.

“Over-financing has created a bloated economic model, which acts only over concern about unearned income, without considering social and human costs,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the 12th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance via a video link.

Though addressing long-term developments, his remarks took place against the backdrop of economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

“To finance long-term large infrastructure investments, the use of products such as sukuk should be expanded,” Erdogan added, referring to Islamic bonds.

“Contrary to what has been promised, the distribution of income and wealth is gradually deteriorating all over the world, and the gap between the countries widened,” he also said.

“Every crisis that started in the financial sector quickly spreads to the real sector and creates an army of the new unemployed,” he warned.

Earlier this year, credit rating agency Moody’s announced that Turkey’s Islamic banking assets are set to double within a decade, as government initiatives drive growth in the sector.

Turkey has positioned itself to be a hub for participation banking and Islamic finance…”

  9. Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 2 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-neutralizes-2-pkk-terrorists-in-northern-iraq/1876366

“Turkish jets have “neutralized” two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

The terrorists were neutralized in an air-backed operation in the Zap and Avashin-Basyan regions after being detected through reconnaissance and surveillance activities, the ministry said on Twitter.

The country’s anti-terror operations continue without letup, the ministry added.

Turkish authorities often use the term “neutralized” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq – across the Turkish border – to plan terrorist attacks in Turkey.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.”

“Turkish security forces “neutralized” at least three YPG/PKK terrorists in northern Syria, near Turkey’s southern border, the National Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

In a statement, the ministry said that new attempts by the terrorist group YPG/PKK to infiltrate and attack the area and the peace and security there had been thwarted.

The terrorists were neutralized in the area of Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring, the ministry added.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

Since 2016, Turkey has launched a trio of successful anti-terrorist operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terror corridor and enable peaceful settlement by locals: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019).

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.”

The ministry said on Twitter that Turkish fighter jets have destroyed caves where the terrorists took shelter. It did not specify the exact location of the operation.

The statement said the caves collapsed on the terrorists.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.”

“Polish geologist Piotr Sta?czak was executed in 2009 by radical Islamists after refusing to convert to Islam, but now Pakistan says that his killers have been captured.

The operation leading to their apprehension was carried out in Rawalpindi on June 1. Pakistani security forces arrested Kaleemullah and Farid Khan — both members of the illegal Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan organization — after authorities were alerted to their presence in the town.

The men are suspected of planning to carry out a terrorist attack due to the explosives found in their house.

After the arrest, the investigation into the kidnapping and murder of Polish engineer Piotr Sta?czak was reactivated after 12 years.

According to the newspaper Dawn, during interrogation, Kaleemullah Khan admitted to having had participated in Sta?czak’s execution while Farid Khan admitted to having held the Pole in captivity for 12 days.

Both men said they were involved in recording the execution…”
