Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Turkish soldier killed in Idlib

“One Turkish soldier was killed and two others injured in an attack on an armored ambulance in northwestern Syria, according to Turkey’s National Defense Ministry on June 5.

The targets determined in the region were immediately brought under fire by our fire support vehicles and the necessary response was given,” the ministry said in a written statement on the incident that occurred in the province of Idlib.

The ministry expressed condolences to the soldier’s family, the Turkish Armed Forces and Turkish nation, wishing a swift recovery for the injured.

This March, Ankara and Moscow agreed on a protocol urging parties to “cease all military actions along the line of contact in the Idlib de-escalation area.”

Idlib falls within a de-escalation zone laid out in a deal between Turkey and Russia in late 2018. The Syrian regime and its allies, however, have consistently broken the terms of cease-fire, launching frequent attacks inside the zone.

The de-escalation zone is currently home to 4 million civilians, including hundreds of thousands displaced in recent years by regime forces throughout the war-weary country.”

  2. Turkey rescues boat carrying asylum seekers in Aegean

“The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 100 asylum seekers off the Aegean Sea coast of Canakkale town, security sources said Saturday.

The asylum seekers of different nationalities wanted to cross to Mytilene Island of Greece.

They were onboard rubber boats that were directed to Turkish territorial waters by the Greek Coast Guard, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Drone footage of the rescue operation was shared by Turkey’s Defense Ministry on Twitter.

Upon reaching Turkey, they were provided with food and clothing by Turkish officials.

Turkey has been a key transit point for asylum seekers aiming to cross into Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution.

Turkey earlier this year opened its gates for irregular migrants wanting to cross to Europe, accusing the EU of failing to keep its promises under a 2016 migrant deal.

Turkey currently hosts over 3.7 million Syrians, making it the world’s top refugee-hosting country.”

  3. Suspected cop-stabber yelled ‘Allahu akbar’ during attack, police say

The man accused of shooting two cops and stabbing a third in Brooklyn this week screamed “Allahu akbar!” three times during the unprovoked attack, police said Saturday.

Authorities have so far been unable to tie the man, Dzenan Camovic, to any organized terror group, but there are indications that his alleged tactics and ambush were similar to anti-police attacks in Paris and elsewhere, according to John Miller, the NYPD’s deputy commissioner of counter terrorism.

“All the hallmarks that would be out of the terrorist playbook,” Miller said at a briefing from NYPD headquarters in lower Manhattan

[…]A relative told The Post Thursday that Camovic, whose family hails from Bosnia, is a practicing Muslim and “absolutely not a terrorist.”

  4. ITALY – Right-wing protesters clash with police in Rome

Hundreds of right-wing demonstrators gathered at #Rome’s famous Circo Massimo on Saturday afternoon to protest against the Italian government and the restrictions put in place due to the COVID19 outbreak in Italy.

“(Italian President Giuseppe) Conte should have resigned yesterday and should allow the Italians to vote and finally give us the possibility to have an elected government,” demanded A.S. Roma hooligan Simone Carabella.

Protesters reportedly arrived from several Italian cities and were mainly made up of to far-right ultra groups from Bologna, Cesena, Lazio, Napoli, Padova and Verona. Some members belonging to the far-right party Forza Nuova were also seen.
