Reader’s Links for June 2nd, 2020

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

“Turkey on June 2 detained 72 people, including on-duty soldiers, over suspected links to FETÖ, the group behind the defeated coup in 2016.

Prosecutors in Istanbul issued arrest warrants for 118 people, including 98 on-duty soldiers, as part of an investigation into FETÖ.

Turkish police carried out anti-terror operations in 35 provinces.

  3. Access to YouTube videos with child abuse content blocked
    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/access-to-youtube-videos-with-child-abuse-content-blocked-155276

“The Family, Labor and Social Services Ministry has taken legal action against four YouTube accounts broadcasting animations with child abuse contents.

The videos posted on the platform have had many views, ranging from 300,000 to 4 million.

The controversial videos, which caused huge public anger, was widely discussed on social media platforms under the hashtag #Çocuk?stismar?YouTube’da, (Child Abuse on YouTube).

Upon the public outcry, the ministry swiftly stepped in and filed a complaint with prosecutors about the accounts with the usernames, “True Stories,” “My Story is not Finished,” “This is My Story” and “Window of Life.”

“In the videos, some expressions against public decency containing child abuse have been determined. We have contacted relevant officials,” said the ministry in a written statement.

The ministry also warned parents to keep an eye on their children on social media platforms to see what they are watching.

After the ministry’s complaint, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) blocked access to the accounts on the video-sharing platform.

Also, the general directorate of security stated that all accounts with transgressive contents on social media platforms have been removed.

According to legal officials, the videos contain two types of offense: Child abuse and the praising of offense and the offender.

“Any abuse against children is a crime. It does not have to be physical contact. Any sexual act against children constitutes child abuse. Moreover, extolling a crime committed by writing a piece in newspapers, sharing posts online or broadcasting on YouTube can also be deemed as praising offense,” said lawyer Umut Y?ld?r?m.”

  4. Seattle city council member: ‘I don’t want our constituents to be told looting doesn’t solve anything’
By LU Staff June 2, 2020

Despite the president’s warning that the military would be deployed to deal with looting and property destruction in American cities, last night was business as usual in Seattle. Protesters set fire to police cars, broke windows in the city’s downtown area, and — of course — helped themselves to plenty of “free” stuff.

We also heard the same arguments we have been hearing over the last decade from leaders on the Left: that looting is a necessary — and even constructive — outlet on the part of an oppressed people.

In 2014, during the Ferguson riots, one schoolteacher defended looting in his blog, writing, “I think white privilege causes some to look at Ferguson as an excuse for criminal activity rather than a political protest. William Chamberlain tweeted a comment about the looting comparing it to the Boston Tea Party.” Ferguson protester DeRay McKesson was invited by Yale University to teach a one-credit course whose syllabus included a section titled “In Defense of Looting.” In the course description, McKesson argued:

  5. Tennessee House votes to make state Second Amendment sanctuary amid nationwide riots
By Daily Caller News Foundation June 2, 2020

Tennessee is now one step closer to becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary after the state House of Representatives passed a resolution Monday strengthening legal protections of gun ownership.

Resolution HJR074, drafted in March, requires the state to “[extend] a safe harbor to Virginians and other United States citizens whose constitutional rights are being violated by elected officials.” It also affirms that citizens have a right to maintain arms equivalent “to those of their government’s basic infantry unit.”

The bill includes language that details an individual’s right to own “semi-automatic AR-15s, AK-47s, and similar firearms” in order for one to execute their “God-given” right to oppose government tyranny. The legislation also reportedly parallels language in a book that claims over 260 million people have been killed by governments around the globe, according to a Fox 17 report.

Trending: People want to know who’s delivering pallets of bricks to protest sites across the U.S.

Tennessee House members voted 64-24 to move to the resolution forward to the state’s Senate.
