Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  1. At Brazil’s biggest cemetery, grave diggers take own measure of coronavirus toll

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – As Oswaldo dos Santos watched several men in protective suits dig a hasty grave for his 36-year-old son, his grief was mixed with fear: What if he had the coronavirus? What if they all did…?

The grave diggers of Vila Formosa are working at a grueling pace, as their load has doubled to almost 60 burials per day. Workers are convinced the coronavirus is quietly killing far more than official statistics show.

“That row of graves was meant to last three months, but it only lasted one,” one worker said, pointing at a section covered in freshly topped soil.

Five grave diggers told Reuters that the number of burials has swelled with the ranks of those who died before getting the results for coronavirus tests. Those cases are not immediately counted in Brazil’s official statistics, which on Thursday rose to almost 300 dead and 7,910 confirmed cases, by far the most in Latin America.…

Sao Paulo’s city’s funeral services agency, which oversees the Vila Formosa cemetery, did not respond to a request for comment and did not respond to questions about the number of burials. Staff at the cemetery asked not to be named for fear of reprisal, but showed death certificates that identify some dead as potentially having had the coronavirus.

Bodies of those with unconfirmed coronavirus are treated the same way as those with confirmed diagnoses. The bodies are wrapped in plastic. The grave diggers wear protective gear. There is no formal ceremony.…

    • I do agree it is a weaponized flu.

But where is the mention anywhere emphasized on hand to face contamination in such a way that people can understand sufficiently that you must avoid at all costs to touch your face with your hands without first washing them with soap and water?

This is truly the most important point that isn’t hammered on in the pressers.

That said, these younger people who die, chances are high they were in physical relationships without first thoroughly washing their hands.

      • As long as China (the CCP) has a lock on the manufacturing of medicine we have to be careful what we accuse them of doing. Once we get our own organic medicine production ramped up we will have a lot more freedom.

  2. Zoltan Kovacs, Hungary’s Secretary of State for International Communications, is not happy with the way the EU is treating Hungary. He calls it “a witch hunt and coordinated smear campaign” against Hungary. The last paragraph is surprising, (well it surprised me):

Politics Coronavirus – Government official decries ‘political witch hunt’ against Hungary
03 April 2020 Author Daily News Hungary

Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for international communication and relations, on Thursday lambasted what he called a “witch hunt and coordinated smear campaign” on the part of the European Union against Hungary’s new law which enhances government powers to tackle the novel coronavirus epidemic. In a video message on Facebook, Kovács said that whenever Hungary had chosen “a path at odds from that of the EU” over the past ten years, and tailored its laws to its own needs, “its domestic and international critics were always quick to react”.

Kovács called it “outrageous” that Hungary was “again the one to be singled out” when the world was seeing the devastation caused by the virus in certain western and southern European countries alongside the “mistakes” made by their governments in handling the crisis.

He dismissed concerns raised by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen over Hungary’s emergency measures as “a typical example of the political double standards” applied to Hungary, arguing that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had been granted no greater powers by the epidemic response law than those enjoyed by the president of France in peace time. “We ask everyone to focus and concentrate on protection,” Kovács said.

  3. Turbulent Gas Clouds and Respiratory Pathogen Emissions
    [Implications for Prevention and Precaution]
Although no studies have directly evaluated the biophysics of droplets and gas cloud formation for patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, several properties of the exhaled gas cloud and respiratory transmission may apply to this pathogen. If so, this possibility may influence current recommendations intended to minimize the risk for disease transmission.

In the latest World Health Organization recommendations for COVID-19, health care personnel and other staff are advised to maintain a 3-foot (1-m)6 distance away from a person showing symptoms of disease, such as coughing and sneezing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a 6-foot (2-m) separation.7,8

However, these distances are based on estimates of range that have not considered the possible presence of a high-momentum cloud carrying the droplets long distances. Given the turbulent puff cloud dynamic model, recommendations for separations of 3 to 6 feet (1-2 m) may underestimate the distance, timescale, and persistence over which the cloud and its pathogenic payload travel, thus generating an underappreciated potential exposure range for a health care worker.…

  5. Germany: Violent gang clashes with firearms and knives – Iraqis arrested

In an attic apartment in the street Sybelstraße in the Leipzig district of Stünz, a knife and a firearm are said to have been used around 06.45 pm.

An unknown number of people escaped from the scene of the crime in the quiet residential area with at least two vehicles, according to police reports on Friday morning.

“A vehicle could be identified in the course of the initial investigations and the driver was temporarily detained as part of the initiated search measures,” said spokeswoman Mandy Heimann. According to information from the portal TAG24, this was in the street Stötteritzer Strasse. No precise information is currently available on the second car. Furthermore, weapons were found in the area of Hermann-Liebmann-Straße/Bogislawstraße during the night.

The two seriously injured are undergoing inpatient treatment, but their lives are out of danger. They and the temporarily detained have a migration background. All identities are still being checked.

They are being investigated on suspicion of attempted homicide.

The 35-year-old driver of the halted car is charged with attempted manslaughter in a criminal case with grievous bodily harm in two criminal cases. This was made public by the public prosecutor’s office in Leipzig.

In the course of the day, it will apply to the investigating judge of the Leipzig District Court for an arrest warrant against the Iraqi. Then a decision will also be made on detention pending trial.

  12. Media: ‘Bleating’ About Muslim Rape Gangs Takes Focus Away from ‘Islamophobia’ (breitbart, Apr 3, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/04/03/media-bleating-about-muslim-rape-gangs-takes-focus-away-islamophobia/

“Britain’s highest-circulation newspaper has published an article complaining that “bleating” about Muslim rape gangs is taking the focus away from “important discussions” around “Islamophobia”.

Faima Bakar, “lifestyle reporter” at the Metro, which is distributed for free across Britain’s buses, trains, railway stations, and airports, complained that “constant bleating about ‘Muslim grooming gangs’ is specifically being used to shut down important discussions about islamophobia [sic]” in the article, headlined ‘The majority of sexual offenders are white men – there is no Muslim problem with sexual grooming’.

“Almost 85 per cent of offenders found guilty of sexual activity with a minor in England and Wales in 2011 were white,” she insisted.

However, these curiously out of date figures would be expected, given white people accounted for a little over 87 per cent of the general population in 2011, and they obscure the fact that one of the major issues with Muslim grooming gangs is that the police, prosecutors, and social services turned a blind eye to them for decades for fear of being accused of racism — and so naturally many would not appear in the offender statistics, having never been convicted.

Bakar also alleged that “Grooming gangs are only depicted to be an Asian or ‘Muslim’ problem because of a few high-profile cases and the media’s penchant to overreport certain types of stories” — which again seems to be at odds with the reality that, much as the authorities were extremely reluctant to tackle the problem of Muslim grooming gangs for decades, the mainstream media was for a long time uninterested in covering the issue.

Indeed, Breitbart News has in recent months covered a number of grooming gang cases first reported by the BBC — but buried in the regional news sub-sections of their website, with no explicit reference to the groomers’ ethnic background, religious faith, or the wider context of Muslim grooming gangs.

Bakar also suggested that the reason many people are “hung up” on groomings gangs “because the most oft-cited cases of sexual grooming involve white, working-class girls and women.”

“Consider this – had the victims also been of Asian and/or Muslim descent, would the uproar be the same?” she asked rhetorically, before complaining that “Muslim victims of sexual exploitation but they’re often missed because of the focus on white victims.”

In reality, however, Muslim victims of sexual exploitation have been recognised, explicitly, as more important that white victims by Britain’s judges.

In a notorious 2014 case, Sally Cahill QC treated the fact that a paedophile’s victims were Asian as an “aggravating feature” of the case and gave him a longer sentence, citing the “shame” they and their families would experience in their communities — a decision which was endorsed by the Court of Appeal, despite members of the public complaining that it, in effect, sent a message that victimising white girls is less serious than victimising Asian girls.

Paradoxically, Bakar did acknowledge that the police, in particular, failed grooming gang victims for letting their abusers operate with impunity for so long, because of their ethnic and religious background — but was adamant that no link could be drawn between their background and their criminal acts.

Muslim groomers, she claimed, “denounce themselves from Islam the moment they commit grotesque crimes”, buttressing her assertion with a classic resort to the ‘No true Scotsman’ logical fallacy by adding: “So when they do commit them, they’re doing it as bad and dangerous men. Not as Muslim men.”

This is directly at odds with the testimony of many of the groomers’ victims, who say anti-white racism and their status as non-Muslims played a prominent role in their abuse.

“I was called a ‘white slag’ and ‘white c***’ as they beat me,” recalled one victim in an article published by the left-wing Independent, highlighting the “religious extremism” within the grooming gang which absued her.

“They made it clear that because I was a non-Muslim, and not a virgin, and because I didn’t dress ‘modestly’, that they believed I deserved to be ‘punished’,” she explained.

“Like terrorists, they firmly believe that the crimes they carry out are justified by their religious beliefs… Religious indoctrination is a big part of the process of getting young men involved in grooming gang crime. Religious ideas about purity, virginity, modesty and obedience are taken to the extreme until horrific abuse becomes the norm,” she said.

The Metro, published by the DMG Media corporation which is also behind the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, and MailOnline — which all present as right-wing to their readers — has for its part given its full backing to its reporter’s “exceptional piece”, describing it as “just one in the superb State Of Racism series [of articles] she and Metro’s equally talented [Natalie Morris] worked on tirelessly” and dismissing the article’s critics as merely “trolling”.

Morris, the newspaper’s senior “lifestyle reporter”, also came out to bat for her colleague — and against “trolls” — and described Muslim grooming gangs as a “myth”.

Research by the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam, fronted by a left-liberal British Muslim of Pakistani heritage, has found that Muslim men with South Asian roots do indeed account for some 84 per cent of grooming gang members — far beyond what would be expected, given their share of the general population.

The British government’s Home Office also promised a no-stone-unturned investigation into the ethnic background of groomers under former Home Secretary Sajid Javid in 2018 — but this has since been buried, with officials claiming it must remain internal in order to preserve a “safe space” for ministers to shape policy.”

  13. French Gangs Engage in Machete Street Brawl Despite Lockdown (breitbart, Apr 3, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/04/03/french-gangs-engage-machete-street-brawl-despite-lockdown/

“Rival gangs in the French city of Montpellier engaged in a street fight armed with machetes, despite the lockdown measures enacted by the government to stop the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus.

The violence took place in the Gambetta district at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday. Despite the presence of machetes and other weapons, many of which were left at the scene, no injuries were reported.

Police arrested three individuals in connection to the brawl and police say they are hunting for other suspects who fled the area using the city’s public transport system, Midi Libre reports.

Investigators say the violence erupted out of a gang rivalry revolving around the local sale of contraband cigarettes and hashish and that fights between members of both groups have occurred during the last three evenings in a row.

France’s nation-wide lockdown measures, which President Emmanuel Macron announced in mid-March, have greatly hindered the ability for criminal gangs to sell drugs and other items on the street.

According to a report from news agency Reuters, the lockdown has led to a spike in prices for street cannabis across France.

Yann Bastiere, a senior police union official, said that prices of some drugs have nearly doubled in some areas, saying: “The price of a 100-gram bar of resin went from 280 euros to 500 euros in a week in Marseille.”

Thierry Colombie, an expert in organised crime, blamed the increase in prices on the lack of fresh supplies of drugs coming from countries like Morocco due to the Wuhan coronavirus lockdown measures.

The European Union police agency Europol has warned that some organised criminals may be adapting to the new lockdown measures and shifting focus to other areas such as fraud and selling counterfeit medical items to take advantage of the outbreak.”

  15. UK – Local radio to broadcast weekly Islamic religious service in the absence of congregational prayer

The broadcast aims to create a radio community when there can not be a physical one

BBC Radio Leicester will be one of 14 local stations to broadcast the new religious service.

Islamic reflections and prayer will be shared on local radio in Leicester on a weekly basis during the coronavirus crisis.

From Friday, April 3, Muslim communities in the city will be able to tune in to BBC Radio Leicester on Friday mornings, when an imam will share reflections and Islamic readings.

In accordance with Government guidance, religious institutions have now closed to the public, including the many mosques across the city. The changes have affected the daily routine of many Muslims who attend a mosque regularly to pray.

Now, in addition to the weekly Christian service broadcast locally on Sundays, a spot for Muslim listeners will coincide with the day of Jummah – the Friday prayers that hold special significance in Islam.

Each week, at 5.50am, a different imam will lead the broadcast, reciting a verse from the Quran or saying from the Prophet, then translate it and talk about its relevance today followed by a minute of prayer.

A senior imam in Leeds, Qari Asim MBE, will the first to lead the weekly service.

Chris Burns, head of BBC Local Radio, said: “Local radio is all about connecting communities and we hope these weekly reflections will go some way to helping Muslims feel a sense of community while they are isolating.”

While many Muslims already pray at home, for some people an absence congregational prayer in a mosque will be missed, especially during Ramadan.

Neila Butt, news editor at BBC England, said: “Faith is a hugely important part of people’s lives and we want as many people as possible to be able to worship despite everything that’s going on.”

The religious services will be broadcast on 14 local radio stations across the UK, including Leicester.

The broadcasts will also be available to listen to afterwards on the BBC Sounds website.

Sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt cheered their commander, Capt. Brett Crozier, as he departed the ship after being relieved of duty for sounding the alarm over a coronavirus outbreak.

Stars and Stripes reports: Hundreds were pictured in the gathering in the ship’s hangar deck and many chanted Capt. Brett Crozier’s name in multiple videos posted to social media. Crozier was dismissed Thursday due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command and for not using his chain of command to make service leaders aware of his concerns about the virus outbreak that had infected more than 100 sailors on the ship, acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said at the Pentagon.

The Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort docked in in New York City on Monday, March 30, 2020. The ship was expected to bolster a besieged New York City health care system by treating non-coronavirus patients while hospitals treat people with COVID-19.

But after three days in the harbor only three patients have been transferred to the hospital ship.

    The ship has 1,000 beds.

Another Navy hospital ship, the U.S. Naval Ship Mercy, docked in Los Angeles, has had a total of 15 patients, officials said.

In New York, the IMHE model predicted that as of yesterday, 50,962 people would have been hospitalized due to the Coronavirus.
    The actual number was 18,368.

  21. globe & mail – Health Minister says Canada has no evidence that China is under-reporting virus impact

Canadian Health Minister Patty Hadju says the federal government has no reason to believe the Chinese government is hiding the full extent of novel coronavirus infections and deaths in that country.

She also accused a journalist who asked her about the matter of fuelling conspiracy theories.

Ms. Hajdu was asked about China’s conduct in the wake of a report from Bloomberg News that said U.S. intelligence officals have told the White house Beijing has concealed the full extent of the coronavirus outbreak in China, where the novel coronavirus first appeared.

The health minister was asked whether she trusts China’s statistics and how Canada can be assured it has accurate pandemic modelling if Beijing has been low-balling its data.

She said Canada has not seen any evidence that China has under-reporting the impact of the virus.

“There is no indication that the data that came out of China in terms of their infection rate, and their death rate, was falsified in any way,” she told reporters at an Ottawa briefing Thursday.

“In fact it you look at the death rate overall in China it’s much higher than the one we’re seeing now.”

The health minister said Canada relies on the World Health Organization to coordinate the flow of data from all countries.

Asked whether the WHO data can be considered accurate if China’s data is not, Ms. Hadju then criticized a reporter who had asked questions about the matter.

“Your question is feeding into conspiracy theories that many people have been perpetuating on the Internet,” Ms. Hajdu said. “There is no way to beat a global pandemic if we are actually not willing to work together as a globe.”

The coronavirus outbreak began in China in late 2019 but Beijing has reported fewer cases and deaths than in the United States, which now has the world’s largest outbreak, with 214,000 confirmed cases and 4,800 deaths.

Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying reiterated during a daily briefing in Beijing on Thursday that China has been open and transparent about the coronavirus epidemic in the country and sharply criticized U.S. officials who cast doubt on China’s disclosures.

    • the daily caller Chinese Government Finally Acknowledges Underreporting Coronavirus Cases

A top Chinese health official said Wednesday that the government will begin counting coronavirus patients without symptoms in its official tally of cases of the virus, in what is a tacit acknowledgement that Beijing has underreported data on the pandemic.

China’s National Health Commission disclosed that the government is monitoring 1,541 people who have tested positive for coronavirus but have no symptoms.

Chang Jile, the head of the health agency, said at a press conference in Wuhan that the government will start reporting asymptomatic patient numbers Wednesday.

“From April 1, we will publish reports, outcomes and management of asymptomatic people in daily epidemic notifications, and respond to social concerns in a timely manner,” Jile said, according to CCTV.

Jile’s statement is the first time that the government has officially acknowledged that it has undercounted patients.

China’s official tally has hovered just above 80,000 cases for several weeks, while countries around the globe have seen their case numbers explode. The United States had reported more than 160,000 positive cases as of Tuesday.

Analysts outside China have speculated for weeks that the communist regime has underreported its case load. The government quarantines asymptomatic patients, and adds them to the official case tally if they begin showing signs of disease, according to Caixin Global, an independent news outlet in China.

The South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong–based outlet, reported March 22 that Beijing failed to record more than 43,000 positive tests for so-called “silent carriers,” or asymptomatic patients.

There have also been anecdotal reports that the government is reporting the number of fatalities from coronavirus. Chinese officials have reported just over 3,300 deaths since the virus emerged out of Wuhan in November 2019. Residents of the city have said that they’ve seen a surge in urns outside of funeral homes in the metropolis.

Determining the prevalence of asymptomatic cases is key to shaping health officials’ strategy to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. If coronavirus was transmitted mainly by patients who show symptoms, those patients could more easily be isolated in order to prevent transmission, making it easier to slow the pandemic. But if the virus is easily transmitted by people who do not know they are infected, the pandemic becomes harder to contain.

Epidemiologists are increasingly confident that asymptomatic patients play a key role in spreading coronavirus.

“We now know that asymptomatic transmission likely [plays] an important role in spreading this virus,” Dr. Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told CNN.

Osterholm told the network that asymptomatic transmission “surely can fuel a pandemic like this in a way that’s going to make it very difficult to control.”

U.S. and international health officials early on in the pandemic cited China’s data to conclude that coronavirus was likely not spread by asymptomatic carriers.

Dr. Bruce Aylward, who led a fact-finding mission to China last month, insisted in multiple statements that it did not appear as if coronavirus was being transmitted by asymptomatic carriers. The absence of asymptomatic cases led Aylward to tout Beijing’s draconian crackdown in Wuhan and other provinces to stop the spread of the virus.

  22. the daily caller EXCLUSIVE: Coronavirus Expert Says Virus Could Have Leaked From Wuhan Lab

ichard H. Ebright, a molecular biologist who has been quoted as a coronavirus expert by The Washington Post and MSNBC, said Thursday that it’s possible that COVID-19 leaked from a Wuhan lab.

Shi Zhengli, China’s leading virologist on bat-borne viruses, said in March that she lost sleep worrying that the virus could have leaked from her lab in Wuhan after she first learned of the virus in December.

Shi now tells those who share the concerns she once had to “shut their stinking mouths.”

A molecular biologist who has been quoted as a coronavirus expert by The Washington Post and MSNBC said Thursday in no uncertain terms that the novel coronavirus could have been unleashed due to a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

China’s top virologist on bat-borne viruses, Shi Zhengli, has sworn on her life that the virus did not leak from her Wuhan lab, saying that its spread was “nature punishing the human race for keeping uncivilized living habits.”

But Richard H. Ebright, a professor of chemical biology at Rutgers University, told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday that there is a real possibility that the virus entered the human population due to a laboratory accident.

When asked specifically if he believes the virus could have leaked from Shi’s lab in Wuhan, Ebright said: “Yes.”

“A denial is not a refutation,” Ebright said. “Especially not a denial based on ‘nature punishing the human race for keeping uncivilized living habits.’”

And while Shi now tells those who question whether her lab could be connected to the release of the coronavirus to “shut their stinking mouths,” she previously said she lost sleep worrying about the possibility that her lab in Wuhan could have been responsible for the virus’s release.

Shi, known by her colleagues as the “bat woman” because of the 16 years she has spent hunting for viruses in bat caves, told Scientific American in March that she frantically searched for any evidence that her laboratory’s records were mishandled upon learning of the virus’s outbreak in Wuhan in late December.

“Could they have come from our lab?” Shi recalled thinking.

“I had never expected this kind of thing to happen in Wuhan, in central China,” she noted, saying that her studies had shown that southern China posed the greatest risk of coronaviruses jumping from animals to humans.

Shi said she breathed a sigh of relief when results came back showing that the sequences of the coronavirus did not match the viruses she and her team had sampled from bat caves.

“That really took a load off my mind,” Shi said. “I had not slept a wink for days.”

Shi and her colleagues at the Wuhan Institute of Virology reported in early 2017 that after five years of surveying they had discovered 11 new strains of SARS-related viruses in horseshoe bats from China’s Yunnan Province. The virologist said at the time that the 11 strains contained all the genes to make a SARS coronavirus similar to that of the 2003 outbreak.

Shi contributed to a study published in February reporting that the novel coronavirus is 96.2% identical to a viral strain that was detected in horseshoe bats from the Yunnan Province.

However, two Chinese researchers noted in a separate paper in February that the horseshoe bats that are known to carry the nearly-identical viral strain live 600 miles away from Wuhan. The researchers also cited testimonies from nearly 60 people who lived in or visited Wuhan saying that the bat “was never a food source in the city, and no bat was traded in the market.”

“The killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan,” the two Chinese researchers noted in their paper, which was uploaded to Research Gate on Feb. 6.

The paper was removed from Research Gate on Feb. 14 or 15, according to internet archives.

“The content was uploaded to ResearchGate by a user who later removed it from the platform. Beyond this, we cannot disclose information about individuals who use our platform,” Research Gate spokesman Dan Noyes told the DCNF.

The paper’s lead researcher, Botao Xiao, didn’t return the DCNF’s emails on Thursday seeking comment.

Ebright, the Rutgers University molecular biologist, told Beijing-based news outlet Caixin Global in February that while there is “no basis to suspect the virus was engineered,” the available data indicates that the virus’s introduction into human populations could be attributed to either natural causes or to a laboratory mishap.

The Washington Post and MSNBC have quoted Ebright saying that theories about the virus being a bioweapon should be “firmly excluded,” but neither outlet included his belief that the possibility that the virus entered the human population through a lab accident “cannot–and should not–be dismissed.”

Shi has furiously denied that the novel coronavirus could have leaked from her lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

“The novel 2019 coronavirus is nature punishing the human race for keeping uncivilized living habits. I, Shi Zhengli, swear on my life that it has nothing to do with our laboratory,” she wrote on a Chinese social messaging app in early February, according to Caixin Global. “I advise those who believe and spread rumors from harmful media sources … to shut their stinking mouths.”

Deadly viruses have a history of escaping from Chinese laboratories.

The SARS virus escaped twice from the Chinese Institute of Virology in Beijing in 2004, one year after the virus was initially contained.

The Chinese government has been widely criticized for misleading the world about the novel coronavirus outbreak from its earliest stages.

One of the first doctors in Wuhan to raise the alarm about the spread of a SARS-like virus in the city was detained by police in December and told to “stop making false comments.”

That doctor, Li Wenliang, died from coronavirus in February.

Another Chinese doctor, Ai Fen, claimed she was silenced by her bosses when she tried to warn about the virus during its early stages. Ai’s whereabouts as of Sunday are currently unknown, according to 60 Minutes Australia, sparking fears that she has been detained.

And on Wednesday a top Chinese health official announced that the country will begin counting coronavirus cases from patients that show no symptoms, a tactic acknowledgment that Beijing had underreported its official tally of known coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.

Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas told the DCNF on Wednesday it is wholly appropriate to question whether the coronavirus outbreak originated from labs in Wuhan that were studying coronaviruses.

“The reason I have raised these questions from the very beginning is because of China’s statements and their actions,” Cotton told the DCNF. “After concealing the virus for many weeks in December and then minimizing its severity for most of January, they then peddle an origin story about the food market in Wuhan.”

“Given their dishonesty and the proximity of these labs, which we know were working with coronaviruses, it is only reasonable and responsible for us to ask the question and demand the answers.”

  23. Video Surfaces Of Islamic Preacher In Bengal Praying For The Death Of 50 Crore Indians Due To Coronavirus

A video of a prominent Islamic preacher Abbas Siddiqui Furfura, wherein he can be heard appealing to the crowd to pray to Allah so that he sends a deadly virus in India which kills 50 crore people, has gone viral on social media.

Abbas Siddiqui, an influential Islamic cleric in Bengal, had earlier announced his plan to contest the West Bengal assembly elections in 2021. He belongs to the Siddiqui Furfura Sharif Darbar located in Jangipara in Hooghly district,

During the course of the video the cleric can be heard saying, “Allah Amar Bharat borshe emon kathin ekta virus dig, ei bharat borshe jano, 10-20-50 koti log more jaye (I pray to Allah that he sends such a deadly virus in India which kills up to 50 crore people)“.

The video clip was uploaded on 26 February and its description claims that this speech was made on 23 February in Mednipur.

In the video, the preacher is heard accusing China of atrocities against Muslim and said that when the Chinese government announced its decision to alter the Quran, the coronavirus pandemic broke out killing lakhs of its citizens including doctors.

“Ar Musalma ra ghure berache, mukhe kono guard ba packing nei, musolman der kono corona hocche na (Muslims are roaming freely without any personal protection equipment but they are not getting infected by coronavirus)“, the preacher adds.

He goes on to say that the Chinese as a result began seeking refuge in mosques which includes Chinese Premier Xi Jinping queuing up outside a mosque to offer namaz.

While alleging attacks on mosques during the Delhi riots, the preacher said that he hopes India soon follows China’s footsteps so that this country too gets affected by the coronavirus pandemic. He thus appealed to his followers to pray for such an outbreak in the country which kills 50 crore people.

In few public meetings, Siddiqui has claimed to be a “fan” of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.

  24. As Africa locks down, some deliveries of aid are threatened (abcnews, Apr 3, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/africa-locks-deliveries-aid-threatened-69957567

“More than half of Africa’s 54 countries have closed their land, air and sea borders to fight the spread of the coronavirus, authorities said Friday, but fears are growing that the restrictions are delaying deliveries of critical aid.

African nations have closed airports and locked down some of the continent’s largest cities out of caution, but that compounds the serious problem of shortages of health and other items. The continent now has more than 7,000 confirmed virus cases on top of sprawling crises related to hunger, locusts, conflict and more.

“If the chaos caused by this pandemic is allowed to curtail humanitarian assistance, the results will be catastrophic,” the medical charity Doctors Without Borders warned in a statement Friday.

Aid organizations are now in the extraordinary situation of negotiating for humanitarian corridors in peaceful regions after at least 32 countries closed their borders, according to Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. Some nations have made exceptions for cargo, humanitarian aid or emergency flights.

But at least 21 low-income and middle-income countries, most of them in Africa, are already seeing shortages of vaccines because of border closures or flight disruptions, GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, said in a statement Friday.

In Kenya, travel restrictions have delayed the delivery of pesticides needed to fight the most devastating locust outbreak some East African countries have seen in 70 years, an official with the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization told The Associated Press.

That’s just as a second generation of the desert locusts — 20 times in size of the first wave of billions of insects — prepares to take flight, said Cyril Ferrand, FAO’s resilience team leader for East Africa.

“With the rainy season starting now, farmers start planting and ranch-land begins regenerating,” he said. “But if these voracious insects are landing on these young crops, then these farmers will be facing a 100% loss.”

Pesticide orders weeks ago from Britain and India have been delayed, leaving Kenya with “very little stock” to spray the locusts with the only effective control, he said. With time running out, authorities on Thursday placed an order with a local pesticide producer and “in theory” a new supply is expected over the weekend.

Such last-minute scrambling threatens to become common elsewhere.

On Thursday, the World Food Program’s regional director for southern Africa, Lola Castro, told reporters that shortly before South Africa imposed a three-week lockdown, the WFP negotiated a humanitarian corridor so shipments of needed food aid could continue to flow to other southern African nations as millions feel the effects of drought and other disasters.

It was an unusual measure in a region currently free of war.

“It’s extremely important that food systems continue to function … but also be able to move across borders,” she said. Lockdowns and other restrictions for the coronavirus “may affect us very, very much” on a continent where millions of people who must go out daily to make a living are made to stay at home.

Even as South Africa relaxed part of its lockdown to allow informal food sellers to work again, the government on Friday blamed the slow arrival of deliveries of sanitizers, masks and gloves in part on travel restrictions around the world.

Recent crises are instructive. An FAO document on the coronavirus notes that quarantines imposed during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014-16 “led to a spike in hunger and malnutrition. The suffering worsened as restrictions on movement led both to labor shortages at harvest time even as other farmers were unable to bring their produce to market.”

Globally, disruptions are minimal and food supplies are adequate, the document says. “We are already seeing, however, challenges in terms of the logistics involving the movement of food (not being able to move food from point A to point B) … As a result of the above as of April and May we expect to see disruptions in the food supply chains.””

  25. Iran: “We have done all of Tehran” – workers disinfect streets to prevent covid spread

Workers disinfected streets and other public surfaces in Tehran on Friday, as part of the government’s measures to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

Footage shows workers with protective gear and respiratory masks disinfecting streets, closed shops, ATMs, and public transport.

Mohamad Reza Karami Nezhad, deputy of Water and Sewerage Department of Tehran Province, said his department has joined the capital’s forces in sanitisation.

“We have brought our vehicles and equipment and this is the 20th night that we have been working. We disinfect each neighbourhood of Tehran every night from 10 pm until 4 am. I can say that we have done all of Tehran. We have disinfected 360 neighbourhoods out of 360,” he explained.

According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, Iran has over 50,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 3,000 deaths as of Friday.

  26. Germany: Church bells and mosque”s call to prayer sound in solidarity during Berlin COVID-19 crisis

A call to prayer was heard from a mosque at the same time as bells rang from a nearby church, as a sign of unity in the corona crisis, in Berlin on Friday.?

Genezarethkirche church Intercultural Center and Dar Assalam Mosque, both located in the Neukolln district of the German capital, agreed to address the believers of both confessions simultaneously at 13:30 local time as a sign of support for those affected by the disease and in solidarity during a time of crisis.

“We cannot invite people but we can remind them that they can pray to God. (…) We want to show that the virus doesn’t differentiate between the religions. We cannot meet physically but we want to show a sign of unity and solidarity,” said Dr. Reinhard Kees, the pastor at the church behind the initiative.

A joint call for prayers by the two places of worship will be taking place every day at 6:00pm.

  29. Mueller report suppressed evidence exonerating Trump
    By Thomas Lifson

Unfortunately, the shocking revelation that the Mueller Report misled the American people by omitting important evidence exonerating the Trump campaign of collusion with Russia will go mostly unnoticed with everyone focused on the pandemic. John Solomon, writing on his new site, Just The News, has another scoop that reveals that the translator present at the Trump Tower meeting with Russians who offered dirt on the Hillary campaign — the very centerpiece of allegations of collusion – provided a lot of exculpatory information that was recorded in FBI 302 memoranda, but which was excluded by the Mueller Report. However, one relatively minor tidbit that reflected unfavorably on the meeting was included.

This should be shocking because Mueller and his team, led by Andrew Weissman, were hred to provide the truth, a complete picture. They were not hired to damage Trump as much as possible, but that appears to be what they were actually doing. I am no expert on legal ethics, but this strikes me as malfeasance.

  30. A Venezuelan navy coastal patrol boat sank in the Caribbean after allegedly ramming a cruise ship that it had ordered to change direction.

The owners of the Portuguese-flagged RCGS Resolute said the naval vessel Naiguata also fired shots in an “act of aggression in international waters”.

The collision left the cruise ship, which has a reinforced hull for sailing in icy waters, with only minor damage.

Venezuela accused the Resolute of an act of “aggression and piracy”.

It also said it “did not rule out” that the cruise ship “was transporting mercenaries to attack military bases in Venezuela”.

President Nicolás Maduro has previously accused the United States and other countries of plotting to overthrow him.

  31. There is a growing realization in the Hindu American community that Democrats, who present themselves as warriors for social justice, do not believe in justice for Hindus. They are even willing to whitewash crimes against Hindus in order to appeal to Muslim voters. These concerns have grown sharply over the last few months.

Central to the issue are reactions to the policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is portrayed on the Left as being the Trump of India and disparagingly referred to as a Hindu nationalist. Modi is held in high esteem by many American Hindus. Various Modi policies have been condemned by Democrats but praised by Hindus who see them as addressing historic wrongs against their community.

Consider, for example, Modi’s repeal of the special status of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in August of last year. Kashmir, which has been mired in a separatist insurgency that has left more than 40,000 dead over three decades, began its descent into chaos in 1990 with the ethnic cleansing of more than 300,000 Hindus. At the time, Islamic fundamentalists published ultimatums in local newspapers ordering all Hindus to leave immediately, broadcast messages encouraging the purge of Hindus using the loudspeakers of mosques, and killed and raped hundreds, leading to an exodus of Hindus out of the region.

  34. Pakistan Karachi -Muslims clash with police trying to enforce coronavirus lockdown

Pakistani Muslims at a Karachi mosque clashed with baton-wielding police trying to enforce new curbs on gatherings to prevent Friday prayers and contain coronavirus infections, officials said.

TV footage showed dozens of people chasing two police vehicles and pelting them with stones as an officer fired in the air to disperse the crowd.

Health experts have warned an epidemic in South Asia, home to a fifth of the world’s population, could easily overwhelm already weak public health systems in the region.

But Muslim-majority Pakistan and Bangladesh, and India, home to the world’s largest Muslim minority, have struggled to persuade conservative religious groups to maintain social distancing.

After failing to persuade worshippers to pray at home last week, the government in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh, home to the financial hub of Karachi, enforced a lockdown for three hours beginning at noon on Friday, officials said.

“In the greater interest of saving lives, a decision to ban the prayer congregations at mosques has been taken,” said Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s minister for local bodies and information

Pakistan has so far reported 2,458 coronavirus infections, fueled by a jump in cases related to members of the Tablighi Jamaat, an orthodox Muslim proselytizing group.

In Bangladesh, some people attended prayers at mosques on Friday, despite appeals from the government for people to stay at home.

Bangladesh’s top religious body, the Islamic Foundation, said elderly people and those with fever or cough should pray at home.

Bangladesh, home to 160 million people and one of the world’s most densely populated countries, has had 61 cases, including six deaths.

India is under a three-week lockdown.

“We’re not alone,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a video message. “All 1.3 billion of us are in it together.”

The shutdown, which ends on April 14, has helped stem a big outbreak for now, but it has brought India’s economy to a shuddering halt and left millions without work.

Many are struggling for food and water and fleeing cities for their villages in the hinterland, triggering criticism that the government rushed through the shutdown without adequate planning, hurting the poor the hardest.

Modi called on Indians to mark the fight against coronavirus with a show of lamps, candles and flashlights on Sunday night.

India has had 2,547 confirmed infections, 62 of whom have died, low figures by comparison with the United States, China, and Italy. Some however contend that limited testing in India may be masking the extent of infections.

The World Bank said on Thursday it had approved an initial $1.9 billion in emergency funds for coronavirus response operations in 25 developing countries, with more than half the aid earmarked for India.

“The poorest and most vulnerable countries will likely be hit the hardest,” World Bank Group President David Malpas said in a statement.

Late on Friday, Sri Lanka’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rates by a further 25 basis points, its second cut in three weeks, as it scrambled to support the economy.

Following is data on the spread of the coronavirus in South Asia, according to government figures:

    * India has registered 2,547 cases, including 62 deaths.

    * Pakistan has registered 2,458 cases, including 35 deaths.

    * Sri Lanka has registered 152 cases, including 4 deaths.

    * Afghanistan has registered 273 cases, including 6 deaths.

    * Bangladesh has registered 61 cases, including six deaths.

    * Maldives has registered 31 cases and no deaths.

    * Nepal has registered six cases and no deaths.

    * Bhutan has registered five cases and no deaths

  35. from reddit:

On January 14th, 2020, the first case of the China virus was confirmed in the US. It was also the day Nancy Pelosi finally motioned towards ending the impasse of withholding her articles of impeachment from the Senate and the beginnings of the Senate impeachment trial that consumed the headlines of CNN, The New York Times and other propaganda outlets.

On January 31st, when President Trump declared a national health emergency over COVID-19 and banned all travel from China, Democrats met the news with claims of xenophobia and racism.

On February 4th, President Trump gave his State of the Union address to Congress and mentioned the severity of the looming crisis caused by the new coronavirus and Pelosi responded by ripping up a copy of his speech.

On February 5th, the 12th confirmed case of the Chinese virus was confirmed and the President mobilized the CDC to the affected states, now including Wisconsin, Democrats were voting to remove the duly elected President from office.

On February 24th, Democrats like Pelosi were still convincing us that the coronavirus wasn’t a serious threat and inviting Americans to patronize their local Chinatowns. That’s right, 34 days ago, which was three weeks after President Trump closed all travel from China, Pelosi was in Chinatown encouraging people to shop and go to restaurants saying, “It’s safe… Come out and join us!”

And now, on April 2, 2020 House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday announced a ‘bipartisan’ select committee to investigate the federal response to the Coronavirus pandemic? The American people aren’t that stupid, are they? Vote straight Republican this November, help drain the swamp.
