Reader’s Links for November 2, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Austria: Because she wasn’t wearing a headscarf, Turks beat her up+++
After the murders of Tugba A. (29 years old) and their children Tuana (23 months old) and Selman (11 months old), relatives came to Bad Vöslau to attend a funeral service. There the scandal occurred. Samet A. (31 y/o) is said to have literally executed first his wife and then his almost two-year-old daughter with a kitchen knife on the 27th of October in his house in Kottingbrunn. Then he is said to have suffocated his son. The Turk is in remand. Tugba A. and her children were laid out on Wednesday in the ATIB mosque in the street Castelligasse for the funeral in Turkey. Afterwards, the funeral service took place in the house of the victim’s mother.Canan K. was also there with two girlfriends. After the 37-year-old had entered the house, she was attacked by a woman, apparently the cousin of the dead. “Go away, you whore, how dare you show up here without a headscarf,” the attacker is said to have said. “The woman hit me savagely. Then a man spat in my face. Almost 20 Turks came along and attacked us. They also hit my car. I went to the police immediately. From there I was taken with the ambulance to the hospital. I have severe bruises and haematomas on my face,” said Canan K. Freedom Party leader Norbert Hofer now demands consequences: “This behaviour at a memorial service, where the remembrance of the victims, but not the question of the headscarf should be in the first place, is scandalous and unacceptable and reveals that we in Austria have a massive integration problem in many areas”, the Freedom Party leader said in a press release. Hofer demands that “immigration in Austria, with the exception of qualified workers, must be stopped until the integration problem has been solved”. In addition, the Freedom Party leader advocates that “all those people who refuse to integrate as a result of incidents such as the recent one should have all social benefits cancelled”.

  3. Two new economic paradigms now compete. Despite the New Silk Road initiative being driven by the Red Chinese, it is based on the concept that made the West great: that being an industrial model whereupon real value is added to real materials for resale profit. Strange but true. Conversely, the new Western paradigm is a massive con based on the neo-fascist exploitation of working people. This is the opinion of this excellent article with which I agree.

  4. Turkey Says It Will Send Daesh Prisoners to Home Countries (sputniknews, Nov 2, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201911021077207068-turkey-says-it-will-send-daesh-prisoners-to-home-countries/

“Turkey launched a military operation in northern Syria on 9 October, saying that it was necessary to oust Kurdish militants and Daesh* fighters and to establish a safe zone for Syrian refugees.

Turkey will send the Daesh* prisoners it has captured back to their home countries, the country’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said.

The minister also said that Turkey won’t accept Europe’s inaction on the issue of Daesh* prisoners when Turkey is left alone to deal with them.

“That is not acceptable to us. It’s also irresponsible,” Soylu said.

Turkey has captured some escaped Daesh* prisoners in northeastern Syria during its Operation Peace Spring which started on 9 October. Ankara said the operation was essential to oust Kurdish militants and Daesh* fighters from the border area and establish a security zone for Syrian refugees there.

  5. Downtown Hong Kong becomes battleground as night falls

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong police fired tear gas into a park to break up thousands of anti-government protesters who fled to the Central business district, setting fire to street barricades and metro stations in some of the worst violence in months of unrest.

Central, its streets lined with banks and top-end jewelry and fashion stores, became a battlefield after night fell, with running clashes between police and black-clad, masked activists.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7642039/Malian-government-says-54-dead-jihadist-attack-army.html

“The Malian government says at least 54 people are dead following a jihadist attack on the army in the north.

The revised death toll from government spokesman Yaya Sangare came a day after the military initially announced at least 15 dead following Friday’s attack in the Menaka region.

The new violence is expected to further raise tensions in the capital, Bamako, where military families have already protested in the streets.

Relatives say that soldiers are not being adequately protected on the ground as they face an array of jihadist groups.

Friday’s violence took place a month after 41 soldiers were killed and 20 others went missing during two attacks on Malian soldiers taking part in a regional counterterrorism force.”

  7. UK: Historic ‘Little White Town’ Changes Signs After ‘Racism’ Complaints (breitbart, Nov 2, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/11/02/uk-historic-little-white-town-changes-signs-racism-complaints/

“The historic ‘Little White Town’ of Bideford in Devon, south-west England, is to change its signs over fears “the town council could be classed as a racist white supremacist [sic]”.

Bideford was dubbed “The Little White Town” by the Victorian author Charles Kingsley in the historical novel Westward Ho! more than 160 years ago, in reference to the many white buildings which give the town its character.

But town councillor and former town mayor Dermot McGeough complained that “The wording ‘Little White Town’ can be perceived as causing a racist slur and not politically correct” and should “be rectified immediately”. At a council meeting, he put forward a motion that “Following a number of complaints from parishioners, I propose that the words ‘Little White Town’ are removed from all signs within the town and at the town entrances”.

“If this wording is not removed, the town council could be classed as a racist white supremacist [sic],” McGeough warned colleagues, according to a local report by DevonLive.

A survey on this supposedly contentious issue found that 69 per cent of Bideford residents were in favour of leaving the town sobriquet unchanged, compared to just 31 per cent who thought it should change — so naturally, councillors voted in favour of changing it.

The town council did offer a sop of sorts to traditionalists like councillor Doug Bushby, who said the proposal was “political correctness gone mad”, by not dropping Bideford’s identity as “The Little White Town” entirely. Instead, they decided that signs will now bear the rather clumsier moniker “Charles Kingsley’s ‘Little White Town’ (1855)” — to add “context”.

It has not been reported how much money will be squandered on the changes, but critics have questioned where the current mania for politically correct revisionism will end.

“[Town councillor] Peter Lawrence didn’t want to cause any offence but [I] did wonder where this might lead asking if ‘Bideford Black’ paint should be renamed ‘Bideford Slightly Dark’?” recounted Peter Christie, another town councillor, in a local newspaper column. (Bideford Black is a unique earth pigment mined in the area.)

McGeough’s efforts to alter Bideford’s identity showcase the determination of social justice-minded politicians to have their way on such issues. A previous attempt by town councillors to scrap ‘The Little White Town’ name in 2008 had failed in the face of local protests.”

  8. Left-Wing Italian Govt Allows NGO Ship with 88 Migrants Aboard to Dock (breitbart, Nov 2, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/11/02/left-wing-italian-govt-ship-ngo-88-migrants-aboard-dock/

“Italy has assigned a port where 88 migrants stranded for days on a rescue ship can disembark, following a deal to share them out among several European countries.

The Italian interior ministry said Friday night the Alan Kurdi, operated by Germany’s Sea-Eye humanitarian group, will dock in Taranto, southern Italy.

Sea-Eye rescued the migrants a week earlier and pressed Italy for days to let it disembark the passengers.

The boat got docking permission after Germany and France together agreed to take 60 of the migrants. Portugal is taking 5 and Ireland 2, with Italy taking the rest.

Contending that aid ships facilitate human trafficking, Italy in recent years has closed its ports to the vessels, allowing docking only after other European countries pledge to take the migrants.”

  9. House Dems’ request for grand jury materials sure looks like they knew right away about the July phone call
    By J.E. Dyer November 2, 2019

In retrospect, it is eye-catching in the extreme that the House Judiciary Committee’s request to have grand jury materials cited in the Mueller Report released to it was forwarded to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on 26 July 2019.

The date, of course, is one day after the Trump-Zelensky phone call of 25 July 2019.

The Judiciary Committee placed the PDF file of the motion on its website on 26 July as well.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/11/02/house-dems-request-for-grand-jury-materials-sure-looks-like-they-knew-right-away-about-the-july-phone-call/

Richard: Read the entire article it show how the Coup had an intelligence asset in the White House on July 26 when the filing was made. At the time of the filing it was a day or two after the phone call, a phone call the Dems weren’t suppose to know about because the Whistle Blower hadn’t filed his complaint yet. How did they know about the supposed extortion of the Ukrainian Government? The sentence in the Court Filing says that the illegal spying on the President of the United States continues.

It will be very interesting to see the Dem reactions to the IG report and to the indictments we all hope are coming from the Barr/Durham investigation.

“Iraq’s semi-official human rights commission says clashes between security forces and protesters in a southern port town have injured 120 people.

The Iraqi High Commission For Human Rights said security forces fired tear gas and live bullets to disperse hundreds of protesters near the vital Umm Qasr port on the Persian Gulf on Saturday.

The commission said many of the wounded are being treated in a hospital in the town.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been protesting, mostly in the capital Baghdad and southern regions, since last month demanding sweeping change to the political system established after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, which they blame for widespread corruption, high unemployment and poor public services.

Security forces have killed dozens of protesters in the crackdown.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/aid-group-italian-supply-ship-rescues-200-migrants-66708343

“A private aid group says an Italian offshore supply ship has saved some 200 migrants in waters off Libya.

Alarm Phone, a charity hotline for refugees in distress in the Mediterranean Sea, says the Asso Trenta has the migrants aboard after rescue late Friday and early Saturday.

It was not immediately known where the migrants might be taken.

To discourage the arrival of migrants, Italy has refused docking to humanitarian rescue ships. Asso Trenta is a commercial vessel.

On Saturday, the Alan Kurdi, operated by a German charity, was sailing to a southern Italian port with 88 rescued migrants. Italy gave it docking permission followed pledges by four fellow European Union countries to take 67 of the migrants, while Italy will take the remaining 21.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/people-detained-connection-swedish-explosion-66708137

“Swedish police say they have detained three people in connection with an explosion in an apartment building in the southern city of Malmo.

No-one was injured in the blast, which broke the building’s main door, blew out windows and substantially damaged the entrance level in a southern district of Sweden’s third largest city early Saturday.

Police spokesman Peter Martin told Swedish news agency TT that initial information suggests the explosion has no connection to a blast early Friday in another Malmo district where a parked car and a nearby building were damaged.

Later Saturday, a police bomb squad was alerted to a central Malmo park to examine an unidentified suspicious object. TT said the national bomb squad has been called out to examine suspected bombs nationwide 30 times in the past two months and 100 times this year.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/italy-arrests-19-probe-international-heroin-ring-66707791

“Police in Italy say they have arrested 19 people, most from Tanzania, as part of dismantling a heroin ring involving more than 150 suspects in Africa, Asia and Europe.

Carabinieri police said the arrests Saturday stem from a probe begun in 2012 with a heroin seizure in Perugia, a university town in central Italy.

Investigators say one ringleader is a Tanzanian who, from his base in Poland, directed heroin shipments from Asia to Italy for street sales.

Since the probe began, 144 drug couriers have been arrested.

Initially using Africans, traffickers later employed Italians, Greeks, Spaniards, Bulgarians and Hungarians as drug couriers.

Police say couriers reached Italy aboard cargo boats, planes, trains, buses and taxis.

Heroin worth 35 million euros ($39 million) and cocaine worth 4.2 million euros ($4.7 million) has been seized during the course of the probe.”

  15. Mass riots in Chile sparked by cost of climate policy; UN COP25 climate conf. relocated
James Taylor, WUWT November 1, 2019

[Ed. – Unrest has been plaguing Central and South America, but Chile’s case is remarkable because it’s about an increase in mass-transit fares. That usually doesn’t provoke days of rioting by the vast working class. But James Taylor suggests the reason it did. Chileans aren’t stupid; their government can tell them fare increases are due to the cost of fossil fuels, but they’re well able to see through that smokescreen and correctly identify the culprit as the national carbon tax, and the associated requirement to move public infrastructure to uneconomic “renewable” power. As in France, they have to bear the cost of that.]

Expensive Climate Policies Sparked Chile Riots and #COP25 climate conference cancellation
    Guest Blogger / 19 hours ago November 1, 2019

From the unintended consequences department. The COP25 climate conference in Santiago Chile was cancelled, and now moved at the last minute to Madrid, Spain.

    By: James Taylor

Climate activists and the United Nations are suffering a major black eye this week as protests and riots resulting from high energy prices have erupted in Santiago, Chile.

Chile, which will host a major U.N. climate conference in December, earned praise from climate activists for recently imposing a carbon dioxide tax on conventional energy sources and switching the Santiago Metro system to renewable power. Now, the people of Chile are rising up and firing a shot across the bow of other nations considering similar energy taxes and expensive renewable energy programs.

On Oct. 25, protestors took to the streets throughout Santiago in response to Metro fare hikes. The protests soon spread to other cities and led to rioting and at least five reported deaths. The Chilean government and the legacy media blamed the fare hikes on rising oil prices. But that isn’t true.

Oil prices aren’t rising. Global oil prices are currently 25 percent lower than they were a year ago and 37 percent lower than they were five years ago.

In Chile, gasoline prices reflect the lower oil prices. Chilean gasoline prices were $1.12 per liter in August (the most recent month for which data are available), compared to $1.28 a year ago. Five years ago, gasoline sold at $1.50.

“At least 13 people were killed and more than 30 injured after a car bomb exploded at a market in the Syrian border town of Tal Abyad, a war observer said, as the Turkish government pointed blame at Kurdish groups.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that pro-Turkey fighters and civilians were among those killed in the car explosion in the town straddling the Syria-Turkish border. Turkey’s state-owned Anadolu Agency reported that children were among those killed.

Turkey’s government blamed the outlawed Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and its Syrian ally the Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) militia for the “inhuman attack”

“We condemn this inhuman attack of the bloody PKK/YPG terrorists who attacked the innocent civilians of Tal Abyad who returned to their homes and lands as a result of the Operation Peace Spring,” Turkey’s defence ministry said on Twitter.

However, a spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the US-backeded group dominated by the YPG, blamed Turkish-backed forces for the explosions on Twitter…”

  24. Calling for federal support and funding, Dresden declares ‘Nazi emergency’
    https://www.thelocal.de/20191102/calling-for-federal-support-and-funding-dresden-declares-nazi-emergency

“The eastern German city of Dresden has declared it is facing an official ‘Nazi emergency’, amid rising violence and far-right sentiment.

The Dresden City Council on Wednesday evening voted in favour of the motion, saying that the city needed more support from state and federal sources to take on far-right sentiment.

Dresden is the headquarters of Pegida, a far-right organisation which believes it is fighting against the Islamification of Germany and the west. Since being founded in 2014, Pegida chapters have sprung up across the globe.

Max Aschenbach, a Dresden councillor and member of satirical party Die Partei (The Party), said that it was imperative that local and federal authorities recognised the scale of the problem.

“We have a Nazi problem in Dresden,” Aschenbach said.

The motion – which passed by a 39-29 majority – was supported by Die Linke, the Greens, the Social Democrats and the Free Democrats. The Christian Democrats and the Alternative for Germany were opposed.

The CDU criticised the motion for being “purely symbolic”, while members of the Free Voters – an unaffiliated organisation – was also critical, saying that the use of the word ‘emergency’ had parallels with the use of emergency powers to strip back basic democratic rights.

Extremist and radical violence has increased in Dresden in recent years, with 60 far-right motivated attacks taking place in 2018, up from 52 the previous year.”
