Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Utrecht men arrested over string of German ATM explosions
    https://nltimes.nl/2019/10/16/utrecht-men-arrested-string-german-atm-explosions

Police in Utrecht arrested two men suspected of involvement in a rash of attempted robberies where heavy explosions were triggered at German cash machines. The pair are also suspected of torching the escape vehicles used in the crimes.

The two men are both from Utrecht, and are 22 and 23 years of age. They first became suspects in the crimes after arrests were made at an attempted robbery and explosion in Heiligenhaus, Germany this past April.

Investigators on both sides of the border worked to link the Utrecht duo to several robberies and attempted robberies from October 2018 to March 2019, Dutch police said. They were taken into custody on Tuesday, and three private residences were searched by authorities.

Between January and April 2019 alone, some 82 German ATM bombings were tied to Dutch suspects, and 98 more were connected to people in the Netherlands in all of 2018. Police did not say how many ATM blasts were linked the two men arrested this week.

A group of about 250 suspected criminals in the Utrecht region were reportedly responsible for stealing fast Audi vehicles, burglarizing German stores, blowing up cash machines there, then fleeing back to the Netherlands. Several arrests resulted in investigations of the so-called Audi Gang.

  2. REVEALED: Kurdish ‘PKK’ Terrorists Were Rebranded by Obama Officials to Dupe the U.S. Public

A tremendous deception has been perpetrated on the American public.

The fake news, Democratic Party, and neoconservatives within the GOP have gone into hysterics over President Donald Trump’s recent decision to remove troops from Northern Syria, in what they are calling a betrayal of Kurdish allies.

Big League Politics has reported on the Kurds setting ISIS terrorists free at several key junctures throughout 2017 when the war against the caliphate was not yet decided. We also reported that the Kurds have been releasing ISIS terrorists in recent days as a ploy to lure U.S. troops back into the region.

The reason why a Kurdish terrorist group in Syria has gained widespread mainstream esteem is because of a public relations campaign that originated during the Obama administration.

      • That has been known for some time now. The problem is that there are 2 other types of Kurds; those that live in NE Syria and those that live in Iraqi Kurdistan.
So, when the media and politicians say we are walking away from our “Kurdish friends” who exactly, are they talking about?
Did you see the statement by Barzani (Pres. of Iraqi Kurdistan)? He was very measured in his remarks and DID NOT condemn the US.
Meanwhile, the small number of US troops are moving into Iraqi Kurdistan. The Iraqi Federal Gov’t has proclaimed that they are not welcome. I doubt that the Iraqi Kurds feel the same way.

        • It’s complicated.

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend: It is an unholy alliance

…There are 30 million Kurds. There are Syrian, Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish Kurds. Over time, since the Sykes-Picot agreement between Britain and France which divided up the Ottoman Empire, the Kurds of the various nations have grown apart.

“In Iraq, for example, the Kurdish leadership has developed strong relations with Turkey, which has become a principal source of investment and trade; while in Syria, the dominant Kurdish party, the PYD, is a sworn enemy of the Turkish government through its close links with the PKK, the militant Kurdish movement in Turkey that is now at war with the government.

And within both Kurdish regions, the dominant parties face strong opposition from a number of other factions.”

  3. ICYMI: GOP Congressmen Sent Blistering Letter to CNN Outlining the Network’s Constitutional Violations

A handful of Republican Congressmen on Monday sent a letter to CNN, slamming the network’s president, Jeff Zucker, for refusing to air President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign ads. According to the letter, the group believes CNN violated federal law and Supreme Court precedent by refusing to air Trump’s ads.

The group argues CNN has the First Amendment right to decide what kind of content it produces, even if it means Americans decide to obtain their news elsewhere, but refusing to air the ad surpasses their right to free speech.

  5. Putin and Erdogan face to face: What is the new plan for Syria?

Russian military police and Syrian servicemen will be deployed to northeastern Syria, while Turkey’s operation ‘Peace Spring’ will continue in a limited area, presidents Putin and Erdogan have agreed after lengthy talks.

Moscow understands the reasons behind the ongoing Turkish military incursion into Syria, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said, though he stressed it must not play into the hands of terrorists and that the territorial integrity of Syria must be preserved.

Ultimately, the country must be freed from all “illegal foreign military presence,” the president added, reiterating Moscow’s long-time position.

The almost-seven-hour-long talks in Sochi, Russia between Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan were focused on the situation in Syria, particularly the ongoing offensive in its northeastern region.

New issues of the ‘Mein Kampf’ manifesto penned by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler over 90 years ago will be produced in France next year for the first time since 1934, much to the consternation of social media users.

Paris-based publisher Fayard raised the possibility of a reissue in 2015 and was met with an angry backlash, however La Journal du Dimanche reports that the company now confirms that they will bring out a new edition of the controversial book in 2020.

Originally written by Hitler in 1926, the new French-translation text will be published alongside criticism penned by a group of 15 French and German researchers and Holocaust historians.

Nasharudin pleaded not guilty to all 33 charges read to him in front of Sessions Court judge Rozilah Salleh.

For the three counts of money laundering, Nasharudin, 57, was charged under Section 4(1)(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), which carries a prison term of a maximum of 15 years or a fine of five times the amount of money gained from the illegal activity or RM5 million, whichever is higher, upon conviction.

  10. Family Members Condemn Imprisonment of Iranian Scientist in US
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/10/22/2125511/family-members-condemn-imprisonment-of-iranian-scientist-in-us

“TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The family of Professor Masoud Soleimani, an Iranian stem cell scientist who has been jailed by the US, condemned Washington’s hostile act and blatant example of human rights violation.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, Soleimani’s wife, Dr. Mahnaz Rabeie, denounced the US for keeping the scientist behind bars for a whole year without any fair trial.

What follow is the text of the statement, according to Press TV:

    “In the Name of God

Statement by the family of Dr. Masoud Soleimani on the anniversary of the arrest of the world-renowned Iranian researcher imprisoned in the United States

One year has passed since Masoud Soleimani, a full professor and head of the Hematology Department at Tarbiat Modares University, has been arrested. (He is) a prominent scientist, who is not only the selected professor of Iran in 2015, but is recognized as the top 1% scientists and researchers on the basis of ISI (Thomson Scientific Institute) in 2015. He is also repudiated worldwide for his scientific standing.

In 2018, he was invited by the US Mayo Clinic to conduct research projects. After much insistence by Mayo Clinic, he accepted the invitation and departed for the United States in October 2018 after receiving an official visa. However, in a predetermined plan, the FBI canceled his visa after leaving Iran, and detained him at the Chicago airport for illegal entry into the United States. Then, he was sent to prison in Georgia on the second charge of violating US sanctions against Iran.

To make matters worse, even after his family was informed about Soleimani’s detention, there was no information about his whereabouts for up to a week. After insisting on the search for Dr. Soleimani’s whereabouts, Chicago airport police announced that the Iranian professor had returned to Iran by a Qatari flight,

It was a failed attempt that ultimately just revealed the deliberate US move to pretend that Dr. Soleimani is “disappeared” in order to distract the pursuit process. Now, Professor Masoud Soleimani has been held in prison for almost a year without charge and trial. This young scholar, who had no negative or unlawful acts records in his life, was not allowed to be released on bail till his trial. This as his scientific endeavors and research have always been transparent and helpful to humanity, and his conduct and actions are in a very humane and respected way at prison according to the prisoners and guards.

All of these are in a situation that he is suffering from chronic irritable bowel syndrome and needs certain medications to reduce the pain caused by the illness and stress. Despite numerous attempts by the family to deliver medicines to him, and even the efforts of Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the US to provide him with medications, it was opposed to give him the drugs, and prison officials prevented him from accessing the medicines. His mental and physical condition is now very poor and he has lost 15 kilograms of weight and suffers from severe vision loss.

I, Dr. Rabiei, as the wife of Professor Masoud Soleimani, along with other members of this international elite’s family, condemn this hostile act by the US government and believe the abuse of nationals to oppress their government is an inhumane act and a clear example of human rights violation. The conspiracy by the US government and Mayo Clinic to set up and arrest a scientist, who is expert in his field (stem cells) and has stepped in to help hard-to-cure patients around the world was a purposeful movement, especially when we see he has authored numerous articles in the field and recently advanced eye-catchingly. This move is meant to keep a non-American scientist away from science and advancement.

(Hereby) we object to the move by Mayo Clinic which has used the scientific arena to trap a scientist from a foreign country to be incarcerated in US prisons. We believe that making conditions insecure for scientists and the elite in every society disrupts the production of knowledge and diminishes the enthusiasm of leading world researchers. Obviously, no sensible person approves of this biased and inhumane behavior. Therefore, we explicitly demand that if the United States claims to respect human rights and justice, it must release Professor Masoud Soleimani as soon as possible because there is no adequate evidence to convict this innocent scientist. Perhaps, if there were (any evidence against him), his trial would not adjourn for a year.

We are extremely grateful to Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran and all Iranian institutions, especially the Foreign Ministry, as well as independent media outlets and journalists who are working on the release of Dr. Masoud Soleimani and investigating the reasons for his detention; especially the ones which condemn the US administration’s cowardly act.

We call on Iranian and non-Iranian scholars and scientists to protest against the US government and its anti-human rights policies to avoid recurrence of such cases. We also urge them to demand the US government and its legal system to immediately release Professor Masoud Soleimani. However, we also urge the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pursue this process more seriously than ever, given that the issue was not given much importance at first, and the case was investigated after six months. This as no immediate action has been taken to release this innocent scientist, while his prolonged incarceration and the unlawful damages and difficulties are increasingly ongoing. Meanwhile, the unfortunate death of his mother following the shock of her son’s arrest, made Dr. Masoud Soleimani’s wish to visit his mother unattainable forever. This irreparable grievance has greatly aggravated the suffering caused by his disastrous condition, while the mental and physical condition of this philanthropic scientist is currently unfavorable. The esteemed government of the Islamic Republic of Iran should take immediate action to free this enlightened scientist, regardless of the considerations that have sometimes been too time-consuming and problematic.

Above all, we do ask God the Almighty to return this praiseworthy son, faithful husband, kind father, exemplary university professor, kind-hearted scholar and friend to his family, his university, and scientific community of Iran and the world.”

Prosecutors have accused Soleimani, who works in stem cell research, hematology and regenerative medicine, and two of his former students of conspiring and attempting to export growth hormone vials from the US to Iran without authorization, in violation of American sanctions.

They had secretly obtained an indictment against Soleimani in June 2018, prior to his arrival on US soil.”

  11. Daesh Propaganda Song Caught Spreading on Kids’ App TikTok
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/10/22/2125501/daesh-propaganda-song-caught-spreading-on-kids-app-tiktok

“Propaganda videos of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists were caught on Chinese TikTok app that is loved by teenagers, as an attempt to radicalize children by flooding the popular social media app.

Videos now removed from kids’ app TikTok featured corpses paraded through streets and militants holding guns as part of a sick bid to enlist youngsters.

Other clips posted to the app, which is largely used by teens and pre-teens to share lighthearted content, featured Daesh singalongs, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

“We pledge allegiance til death,” voices sang in Arabic in one propaganda post apparently uploaded in recent weeks.

Experts warned the videos were an attempt to brainwash young people.

“The rhyme, beat, evocative lyrics and punchy delivery are especially appealing to youth,” Elisabeth Kendall, an Oxford University expert on extremism, told the WSJ.

“This catchy sing-along method for propagating ISIS ideology means it spreads quickly and sticks in the collective memory.

“It tends to be far more effective than sermons or theological debate and treatises.”

Daesh regularly uses propaganda spread on popular sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to further its hateful cause.

It seems TikTok is the latest to fall victim to the group’s social media campaigns.

The Chinese app has spiked in popularity this year, boasting more than a billion downloads worldwide. One in three users are under the age of 18.

Around 24 Daesh-linked accounts were caught spreading propaganda by investigators at social media intelligence agency Storyful.

They aimed to rouse enthusiasm and support for the terrorist group and possibly to recruit militants.

In a statement, a TikTok spokesperson said: “Content promoting terrorist organisations has absolutely no place on TikTok.

“We permanently ban any such accounts and associated devices as soon as identified, and we continuously develop ever-stronger controls to proactively detect suspicious activity.

“This is an industry-wide challenge complicated by bad actors who actively seek to circumvent protective measures, but we have a team dedicated to aggressively protecting against malicious behaviour on TikTok.””

  12. Saudi Arabia Calls for Int’l Deal Stopping Iran from Acquiring Nukes
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1956786/saudi-arabia-calls-int%E2%80%99l-deal-stopping-iran-acquiring-nukes

“The Saudi cabinet discussed on Tuesday the importance of having a comprehensive international agreement that prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons in any way and stops it from financing its terrorist activities in the region.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, chaired the cabinet and briefed it on the result of his meetings with the visiting Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The cabinet welcomed the establishment of a joint Saudi-Palestinian economic committee and a business council.

The cabinet also discussed the closing statement of a meeting held in Bahrain on Monday by the representatives of more than 60 countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council and Western states, on maritime security.

They had a unified stance against attacks on the Kingdom, considering them a direct challenge to the global economy and the international community.

The participants expressed full support for the Kingdom’s efforts in dealing with such criminal activities, and its legitimate right along with its partners in defending itself and deterring any possible future attacks in line with international law.

The discussions of the Saudi cabinet touched on the meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) interior ministers held in the Omani capital Muscat last week.

The ministers condemned the mid-September sabotage attacks on Saudi Aramco’s oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais.

They expressed GCC’s solidarity with the Kingdom and all the measures it has taken to protect its security and stability, and to defend its interests.

The interior ministers also stressed the importance of joint security to guarantee freedom of international navigation in the Arabian Gulf.”

  13. US to Support Syrian White Helmets with over $4 Million
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1956976/us-support-syrian-white-helmets-over-4-million

“The White House said Tuesday US President Donald Trump has authorized $4.5 million to support Syrian rescue workers known as the White Helmets.

Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said Tuesday that Trump is urging US allies and partners to also support the Syrian Civil Defense group.

She revealed the funding, approved Monday, is part of the United States’ continued support for the organization and its work in Syria.

Grisham says that during the eight-year conflict in Syria, the White Helmets have rescued more than 115,000 people. Because the group works in opposition-held areas, they are almost exclusively the only ones to offer rescue services.

The Syrian regime and Russia have accused the White Helmets of cooperating with radical insurgent groups.

The White Helmets have enjoyed backing and received finances and training from the US and other Western nations for years.

Separately, the United Nations said that nearly two weeks after Turkey launched its offensive in northeast Syria more than 176,000 people have been displaced, including nearly 80,000 children, and “critical infrastructure has been damaged.”

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Tuesday that power lines have been damaged, reportedly affecting at least four medical facilities.

He said the Alouk water station, which serves over 400,000 people in Al-Hassakeh city and surrounding displacement camps, has received temporary repairs and generators are now being used to supply safe water for the population in the area.

Dujarric told reporters at UN headquarters in New York that Imran Riza, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Syria, said after visiting the northeast that he was grateful UN appeals for humanitarian access were successful and water was restored, “averting more serious humanitarian problems.””

“Turkey has replaced four mayors from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) with state officials, the offices of two provincial governors said on Tuesday, part of a widening crackdown on local councils controlled by the party.

Ankara accuses the HDP of links to militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). It has now replaced a total of 12 mayors from the HDP on alleged links to terrorism since municipal elections in March.

The mayors in the towns of Kayapinar, Bismil, and Kocakoy in the southeastern Diyarbakir province and the mayor of Ercis in the eastern province of Van were suspended and replaced by local administrators, the offices of the two regional governors said.

All four mayors are currently in custody on terrorism charges, they said…”

In case anyone needed another reason to leave California, the chief executive officers of Pacific Gas & Electric Corp. (PG&E) now says the company may have to impose blackouts over the next 10 years.

NPR reported that CEO Bill Johnson told energy regulators at California’s Public Utilities Commission (PUC) the company needed more time to trim trees and update its technology to prevent future forest fires. In the meantime, Johnson said, the company would have to impose blackouts.

PG&E filed for bankruptcy in January. Months later, investigators determined that it was the company’s electrical transmission lines that caused a fire that sparked the raging forest fires in California last November.

“Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is facing immense pressure from opposition parties to step down or face agitation.

The call for Iman Khan to resign has been gaining momentum since firebrand religious leader Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Chief Jamiat Ulema Islam (Fazal) — JUI-F — has given the call for “Azadi March” to lock down Islamabad on October 31 with an aim to “dethrone” Imran Khan.

JUI-F is a religious political party with very strong following of religious hardliners across the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

  21. 22 arrested for incitement against state following El-Banna murder: Egypt’s interior ministry
    http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/353394/Egypt/Politics-/-arrested-for-incitement-against-state-following-E.aspx

“Egypt’s interior ministry says it has arrested 22 members of the terrorist-designated Muslim Brotherhood group for inciting people against the state following the widely publicised murder of teen Mahmoud El-Banna.

The suspects had used the recent murder of the teenager in the governorate of Menoufiya to “incite the public against the state,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The killing earlier this month of El-Banna by another teenager after El-Banna stood up for a girl that the assailant was harassing sparked public outcry in Egypt in recent weeks.

The ministry said that the suspects who were arrested for inciting aimed to “provoke chaos and riots, block roads and disrupt traffic” in front of a court room in Shebin El-Koum where a trial session of the accused murderer was held in Menoufiya in the Nile Delta, the statement added.

The suspects were arrested in possession of inciting posters, melee weapons, two replica pistols and a replica machine gun, it added.”

“Some 200 members of ISIL were detained and more than 300 were killed during Operation Peace Spring, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said at the TRT World Forum on Oct. 21.

“Turkish armed forces are the sole coalition army that came to close quarters. It is our primary duty to neutralize them whenever and wherever we see them,” he said.

Turkey has an indestructible bond with the United States, Akar said and added: “We hope that with this operation, we will bring peace to the region with the vision of President [Recep Tayyip] Erdo?an. Our alliance with the U.S. will continue intact”.

Turkey on Oct. 9 launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate the YPG from northern Syria and secure Turkey’s borders. Officials have also said the operation would open the way for the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity. On Oct. 17, Turkey agreed to pause the operation for 120 hours to allow the withdrawal of YPG from the planned safe zone.

“As long as the YPG/PKK is active in Syria, neither that country nor the region can reach permanent peace, security, and stability,” he stated.

“The YPG/PKK can in no way represent our Kurdish and Syrian brothers and friends, just as Daesh does not and cannot represent Muslims,” Akar said, using the Arabic acronym of the ISIL group.

“Our goals are to protect our borders, prevent a terror corridor in northern Syria, put an end to the presence of YPG/PKK, Daesh and all other terrorists in the north of Syria, and to establish a safe zone so as to enable 2 million displaced Syrians, including Arabs, Kurds, Christians, Ezidis, and Chaldeans, to voluntarily and peacefully return to their lands and homes,” he added.

“In the meantime, regrettably and deplorably, the YPG/PKK received substantial material support from our allies. Each weapon handed over to the YPG/PKK ended up in the hands of the PKK ready to be turned on Turkey – a fellow NATO member,” Akar said.”

  23. Left-Wing Journalist Admits President Trump is Correct about ‘Permanent Coup’ by Deep State

Matt Taibbi admitted the obvious in his column he published last week.

As President Donald Trump continues his war with the Democratic Party and the deep state, left-wing journalist Matt Taibbi is growing increasingly concerned with the “permanent coup” that is being waged by the intelligence community against the White House.

He released an article last week explaining that, from his perspective, the threat posed by President Donald Trump pales in comparison to that of the shadow bureaucracy operating from Washington D.C.

“My discomfort in the last few years, first with Russiagate and now with Ukrainegate and impeachment, stems from the belief that the people pushing hardest for Trump’s early removal are more dangerous than Trump,” Taibbi explains in his column.

Richard: This man has thought about what will happen if PT is removed but he hasn’t thought it all the way through. He like most Libs looks down on the voters and doesn’t consider what we are going to do if they remove a President who hasn’t done anything wrong. Despite what the leftist want to think he hasn’t broken any laws or sought foreign interference in our elections, he has the support of the majority of the people who will be very upset with his removal from office.

Look at the bikers for Trump what will they do if he is removed from office having done nothing wrong?

Look at the Cops for Trump what will they do? Especially since the Dems are becoming increasingly anti cop.

Look at the Veterans for Trump, what will they do?

Look at the firearms owners that don’t fit into the above categories, what will they do?

Before you stage a coup you have to consider what all of the above will do and then consider what the active duty are reserve military will do?
