Item 8 is beyond my ability to apply adjectives: Links 2, 10/22 19

1. Here is a long interview with the author of the Myth of the Andalusian paradise. As I am about half way through his book, I can tell you it is fantastic reading and genuine old school scholarship. What I mean by that, is fact based research from writings at the time, and archeological evidence. As one example, he talks about how coins from neighbouring Chrisitan countries showed women monarchs with their hair flowing out from under their crowns, meaning that Christian nations were very liberal compared to Islamic Spain, where even “free muslim woman” were not allowed to leave the house except for certain situations.

In this interview he covers a lot of the points in his book, although he does not go into the background details and proofs as much. For those who are sceptical of his analysis, his book is recommended.

2. Iranian beauty queen begs the Philippines for asylum over fears for her life after Tehran demanded her extradition for an ‘assault’ as she dismisses the claims as a ‘big lie’

An Iranian beauty queen is begging the Philippines for asylum, fearing that she will be killed if she is deported after Tehran demanded her extradition for assault.

Bahareh Zare Bahari, a dental student who represented Iran at the 2018 Miss Intercontinental pageant in Manila, has been detained at Ninoy Aquino airport for six days after Iran put out an Interpol Red Notice.

The 31-year-old says the assault charge is ‘a big lie,’ believing she has been targeted for her political views on the Islamic Republic and support of women’s rights.

If sent back to her homeland, ‘They will kill me,’ she told The Telegraph, ‘There is no updating, no information about the reason why [they] keep me here so long.’

5. Saudi Arabia Calls for Int’l Deal Stopping Iran from Acquiring Nukes

The Saudi cabinet discussed on Tuesday the importance of having a comprehensive international agreement that prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons in any way and stops it from financing its terrorist activities in the region.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, chaired the cabinet and briefed it on the result of his meetings with the visiting Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The cabinet welcomed the establishment of a joint Saudi-Palestinian economic committee and a business council.

The cabinet also discussed the closing statement of a meeting held in Bahrain on Monday by the representatives of more than 60 countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council and Western states, on maritime security.

They had a unified stance against attacks on the Kingdom, considering them a direct challenge to the global economy and the international community.

6. Stefan Molyneux on the Canadian election. It is a worthy set of observations.

7. ICYMI: GOP Congressmen Sent Blistering Letter to CNN Outlining the Network’s Constitutional Violations

A handful of Republican Congressmen on Monday sent a letter to CNN, slamming the network’s president, Jeff Zucker, for refusing to air President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign ads. According to the letter, the group believes CNN violated federal law and Supreme Court precedent by refusing to air Trump’s ads.

The group argues CNN has the First Amendment right to decide what kind of content it produces, even if it means Americans decide to obtain their news elsewhere, but refusing to air the ad surpasses their right to free speech.

“As your news organization seems to have lost all sense of objectivity, spinning itself into oblivion to support left-leaning candidates and participating in distortion against conservative candidates, you have still operated within the boundaries of the First Amendment,” the letter reads. “CNN has the right to spout your political commentators’ opinion while millions of Americans change the channel to something else. The law of the land and the Supreme Court precedent protect your right to be loudly wrong.”
