2. South African attacks on foreign shops continue; 12 dead

Two people have been killed in Johannesburg, police confirmed Monday, bringing to 12 the number of deaths since violence against foreign-owned shops erupted last month.

Bands of South Africans launched violent attacks against foreign-owned shops and stalls, looting and burning the small businesses and attacking some of the shopkeepers.

Police spokesman Kay Makhubela confirmed that two people suspected to be foreigners were killed in the violence Sunday night and said that at least 640 people have been arrested since the violence erupted last week.

The nationalities of those killed have not been announced but Nigerians, Ethiopians, Congolese and Zimbabweans have been attacked, according to local media.

The attacks appear to be spreading throughout Gauteng, the country’s most populous province encompassing the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Police minister Bheki Cele on Monday met with executives of major South African businesses, including the retailer Shoprite and MTN, a mobile phone and internet provider, whose operations were targeted in retaliatory attacks in Lagos, Nigeria, last week. The executives expressed concern that the violence in South Africa is hurting their operations in other parts of the continent.

(Like a form of autoimmune disease, leftists attack their own organs until the body can no longer function at all. Either the farms, the stores and productive sectors, the people attacking cannot seem to think through the haze of hatred and envy, to the medium and long term consequence of killing farmers and shopkeepers.)

3. BDS Activists Punch Israeli Women Attending Film Festival in Berlin

The Jerusalem Post reports: The German police said that a group of BDS activists violently assaulted visitors at the Israeli Seret International film festival on Sunday in Berlin, causing injuries and disrupting a podium discussion. An estimated 10-12 BDS activists participated in the disruption and attacks.

According to the police notice reviewed by The Jerusalem Post, the BDS activists punched two women, who filed criminal complaints against the BDS supporters. BDS is the abbreviation for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign targeting the Jewish state. The German parliament classified BDS as antisemitic in May.

The police report said after the screening of the documentary film “King Bibi,” a question and answer discussion was planned with the director and a 42-year-old started to scream. At the same time, a second 42-year-old man and a third unknown person held a poster in front of the film screen. It is unclear what was written on the poster. The discussion could not continue after the disruption.

6. Robert Mueller helped Saudi Arabia cover up its role in 9/11 attacks: suit

After a lengthy investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller charged Russia made “multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election” and said the incursion “deserves the attention of every American.”

But former FBI investigators say their old boss didn’t feel the same concern when they uncovered multiple, systemic efforts by the Saudi government to assist the hijackers in the lead-up to the 9/11 attacks — a far more consequential, to say nothing of deadly, foreign influence operation on America.

As the head of the FBI at the time, they say Mueller was not nearly as interested in investigating that espionage conspiracy, which also involved foreign intelligence officers. Far from it, the record shows he covered up evidence pointing back to the Saudi Embassy and Riyadh — and may have even misled Congress about what he knew.

9/11 victims agree. “He was the master when it came to covering up the kingdom’s role in 9/11,” said survivor Sharon Premoli, who was pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center 18 years ago.

7. Dozens killed in IED and gun attacks in northern Burkina Faso

At least 29 people were killed and six injured in two attacks in northern Burkina Faso on Sunday, September 8, the government said, after an al-Qaeda-linked group warned Sahel states not to support French forces in the region.

One vehicle, transporting people and goods in the Centre-Nord region, “rode over an improvised explosive device in the Barsalogho area, leaving at least 10 passengers dead, most of them tradesmen,” a security source told AFP.

8. Justice officials pressed for Wilders to be prosecuted for ‘fewer Moroccans’ speech

Senior civil servants put pressure on prosecutors to take Geert Wilders to court for his ‘fewer Moroccans’ speech, according to documents seen by RTL Nieuws. In a series of memos, justice ministry officials wrote that Wilders’s comments were ‘malicious’ and ‘racist’.

One asked, after reading a confidential report prepared for justice minister Ivo Opstelten in September 2014: ‘Is the prosecution service now convinced of the desirability and viability of a prosecution?’ The leader of the anti-immigration PVV party is currently appealing against his conviction for inciting discrimination against Dutch Moroccans in the televised speech, delivered in the aftermath of the local elections in March 2014.

Wilders asked a roomful of supporters if they wanted to have ‘more or fewer’ Moroccans in the country. When the crowd shouted back: ‘Fewer, fewer,’ Wilders responded: ‘We’ll take care of that.’ In December 2016, a panel of three judges ruled that the comments were ‘demeaning and insulting to the Moroccan population’. Wilders’s lawyer, Geert-Jan Knoops, last week asked judges to dismiss the case after it emerged that Opstelten discussed it with justice department officials before the decision to prosecute was announced.

9. Mysterious fires, not just for Churches anymore

Synagogue fire video

DULUTH — Third- and fourth-generation members were too devastated to speak Monday following the fire that burned Duluth’s oldest-surviving Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue.

“It’s not a good day,” one of the leaders said, declining to be interviewed.

The synagogue belonging to the Adas Israel Congregation was destroyed by the fire at 302 E. Third St., Duluth — its walls built of lumber collapsing and spilling out into the streets. Duluth police, fire and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the incident.

The first signs of hope came mid-morning, as members of church leadership guided Duluth firefighters as they extracted the congregation’s Torah from the basement. The five scrolls of the Hebrew Scripture were hand-written on parchment paper and are read from every Sabbath, said one of the congregation members.

10. IAEA found uranium traces at Iran ‘atomic warehouse’ – diplomats

Vienna: Samples taken by the UN nuclear watchdog at what Israel’s prime minister called a “secret atomic warehouse” in Tehran showed traces of uranium that Iran has yet to explain, two diplomats who follow the agency’s inspections work closely say.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is investigating the particles’ origin and has asked Iran to explain the traces. But Tehran has not done so, according to the diplomats, stoking tensions between Washington and Tehran. US sanctions have slashed Iranian oil sales and Iran has responded by breaching its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

In a speech a year ago Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who vehemently opposed the deal, called on the IAEA to visit the site immediately, saying it had housed 15kg of unspecified radioactive material that had since been removed.

Reuters first reported in April that the IAEA, which is policing the nuclear deal, had inspected the site – a step it had said it takes “only when necessary” – and environmental samples taken there were sent off for analysis.

  1. Oh Tommy. Two more days, please make it out alive…
But what of Julian Assange? What does the British gov’t have in store for him?

  2. 8- Like Tommy Robinson, death by prison is the most convenient method of disposal of rebels by cowardly establishment types. Wilders will be more useful fighting in exile than dead. His wife is Magyar…

    • Wilders won’t go to prison. There’s no prison sentence for this type of thing, unless maybe if you refuse to pay a fine.
If I remember correctly, he was sentenced to pay a (modest) fine, and he appealed.

The real worrying thing about this story though, is that there was political interference in the legal process. And media are for the most part ignoring this story, if it wasn’t about Wilders they’d be all over this violation of the trias politica.

I’m no lawyer, but this looks like a violation of his constitutional rights. He may have the option of going to the european court of human rights.
