Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “Sharia Police” in Munich commissioned by the municipality ?
    +++
“Five strong and muscular men patrolled, allegedly on behalf of the municipality, on Friday between the Wittelsbacher Bridge and the Reichenbach Bridge and are said to have rebuked women on the Isar who sunbathed topless.” The newspaper “Abendzeitung München” reports this and also provides a photo of evidence that four men in red T-shirts with the inscription “Sicherheitsdienst” (security service) shows. The whole thing brings back memories of the Wuppertal Sharia Police.
“Passers-by and other sunbathers immediately intervened, took the floor and stood by the intimidated women between the Wittelsbacher and Reichenbach bridges,” the newspaper continues. All those present asked themselves? Was the ” moral police ” commissioned by the municipality? The witnesses of the scandalous incident asked for IDs from the security service. “They were allegedly commissioned by the municipality, I was told. But I can’t imagine that. The men did not appear credibly, rather obtrusively,” the eyewitness said.
After research by the newspaper, the security service on the Isar is commissioned by the building department. Meanwhile a representative of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SPD) washes his hands of it and pretends to be outraged:”I also find the behaviour of the security service strange and suspect a misunderstanding”. The municipality has published a “municipal swimwear ordinance” with nudist zones on its website. Nude bathing is allowed here on the Isar. How much longer? One might ask.
It is possible that there is a large population group in Munich for whom the casual treatment of the sexes and permissiveness has long been a thorn in the side.

  2. Venezuelan opposition urges UN human rights chief to expose Maduro’s crimes

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 9:35 AM PT — Friday, June 21, 2019

Venezuela’s opposition leader is urging a top UN official to investigate the abuse of human rights by the Maduro regime. This comes as dozens of protesters took to the streets of Caracas to demand that the Maduro regime release all political prisoners.

UN Human Rights chief Michelle Bachelet arrived in Venezuela this week for talks with embattled leader Nicolas Maduro and self-proclaimed interim President Juan Guaido.

Bachelet said she is looking into the allegations of political kidnappings and torture. Protesters urged the UN official to shed light on Maduro’s repressions for the whole world to see.

  3. Hong Kong protesters disperse after blockading police headquarters

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Thousands of protesters who had blockaded police headquarters in Asia’s leading financial center had mostly dispersed by Saturday morning with some roads reopened for traffic as normal but it remained unclear whether further mass protests would take place.

Hong Kong has been bracing for a third weekend of widespread protests against an extradition bill that has plunged the Chinese-ruled city into crisis, posing the greatest popular challenge to President Xi Jinping since he took power in 2012.

On Friday groups of mostly students wearing hard hats, goggles and face masks set up roadblocks and trapped vehicles in a generally peaceful protest to demand that leader Carrie Lam, who promoted and then postponed the bill, scrap it altogether.

  4. On Iran, Trump’s ‘unready’ government does the right thing
    By J.E. Dyer June 22, 2019

Going into this post, I wasn’t sure how to “hook” it, as every angle to slice into it with seemed banal. A whole lot of nonsense has been talked about the drone shootdown and the U.S. response. The good sense has mostly been summarized already.

But I’d been thinking since late Thursday night, when I first heard that there had been a strike package ready to go, but Trump canceled it at the last minute, that Trump had probably done the right thing because the reported nature of the strike was out of phase with where we are in this problem.

Friday morning, we heard Trump call the strike “disproportionate” to the offense of the drone shootdown. That’s serviceable enough, but didn’t quite get at the fundamental concern.

Peggy Noonan’s weekly column for the Wall Street Journal is what put it in frame for me. She wrote about relatives of hers who are diehard Trump supporters – wrote with love, bemusement, and some gentle criticism. Here is the passage that struck me:

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/06/22/on-iran-trumps-unready-government-does-the-right-thing/

    • I was glad Trump did this, I think the sanctions are working and if he had gone for a strike this would have done a number of negative things, the most important was in terms of controlling the situation as was quite rightly picked up on that article. We do not want to do anything that garners support for the Iranian government and we certainly do not want their people to form some of cohesion in terms of such an attack.

Iran will start to try to provoke even more and in doing so they lose support, still the cloak is ticking in terms of the nuclear issue.

What I like about Trumps tweets is that he effectively gave them a red line where they will have to kill to get a reaction from him, or go and do something really reckless like closing the Homuz straits. I would think the Iranians are at this point a bit bemused.

One final thought, I do wonder if they have placed some sort of nuclear package in the USA via duplicitous means or have the means to do so?

      • Considering that a stash of I think 3 metric tonnes of explosives was found in London, claimed to be owned and operated by Hizb’allah, I would say that nuclear or not, Iran has massive military assets in Western capitols. Clare Lopez has been warning about this for many years.

        • Richard: I don’t know if they are just running their mouths to save face or are taking PT’s restraint to be weakness.

BREAKING: Iran Issues MORE Threats To America

          Have they lost their MINDS?

Iran said on Saturday it would respond firmly to any U.S. threat against it, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, amid escalating tension between Tehran and Washington over the shooting down of an unmanned U.S. drone by the Islamic Republic.

On Thursday, an Iranian missile destroyed a U.S. Global Hawk surveillance drone. Tehran said the drone was shot down over its territory and Washington said it had occurred in international airspace.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he aborted a military strike to retaliatefor Iran’s downing of the U.S. drone because it could have killed 150 people, and signaled he was open to talks with Tehran.

“Regardless of any decision they (U.S. officials) make… we will not allow any of Iran’s borders to be violated. Iran will firmly confront any aggression or threat by America,” foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi told Tasnim.

A senior commander of the elite Revolutionary Guards struck a similarly defiant note, in comments quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

“This is our response to a violation of Iranian space and if the violation is repeated then our response will be repeated,” said Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Guards’ aerospace division.

The leaders of the Democrat Party could care less about 150 Iranian lives. They could care even less about the fate of our country.
Everything, everyday to them, is about power and how to steal it and keep it.

Rather than attempting to make America a better place or keeping America great, Democrat leaders are all about power. On Friday before President Trump decided not to drop bombs on Iran for knocking down a US drone, the President met with Congressional leaders in the White House to discuss the situatio

After the meeting, Democrat Senate leader Chuck Schumer from New York and Democrat Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, could be seen cheering outside the White House. As they approached their cars, Schumer raised his hands in victory and Pelosi was smiling and cheering on Schumer

      • “This is why Chuck Schumer was raising the roof after a White House meeting on Iran” by Rebecca Morin – June 20, 2019

        Excerpt:

WASHINGTON – Moments after exiting a meeting at the White House to discuss an attack on a U.S. drone from Iran, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was seen raising the roof while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi clapped along.

But his excitement had nothing to do with the meeting.

Schumer, D-N.Y., spokesman Justin Goodman said in a statement that Pelosi, D-Calif., had asked the senator how his mother was doing, who had been rushed to the emergency room on Wednesday.

“Schumer told her he was overjoyed because his mother had just been released from the hospital and is OK,” Goodman said in the statement.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/06/22/on-iran-trumps-unready-government-does-the-right-thing/

Richard: I understand where she and PT are coming from and to a large extent agree with them. The drone was just the latest of many attacks on US assets, personal and allies committed by Iran in the past we haven’t responded with military force so any level of response could and probably should be considered as a response to all of the attacks.

I also agree with the idea of no limited strike, making a limited strike is allowing the enemy to dictate the terms of engagement and how the war will be fought. If we are going to retaliate we should use the full force of the US military and sink their Navy, destroy their Air Force Planes, destroy their headquarters buildings and barracks. Do our best to carry out full decapitation strikes. (US Politicians oppose killing enemy politicians, probably because they are afraid that the enemy will come after them.) The slow graduated responses just allows the enemy to develop their assets to the point strikes like the ones I advocate are too expensive.

I also agree that there is a strategic operation in place that is working to destroy the Islamic Republic and China by destroying their economies to the point their governments collapse. The only problem with the economic war we are fighting is that it requires that PT win reelection in 2020, something I am sure he will do.

The economic collapse of Iran and China will put more pressure on Russia and with luck shut off the entire funding of Venezuela and reduce the funding of the mass migration to the US. The funding will be reduced but not stopped because of Soros and people like him.

    • US Politicians oppose killing enemy politicians, probably because they are afraid that the enemy will come after them.

It’s good to see a military mind confirm what I’ve been saying for almost twenty years. US Deep State, career pols would much rather send the flower of American youth overseas to have their bodies wracked and ruined rather than risk wearing a target on their own backsides as part of their oath-of-office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Through their collective cowardice (on both sides of the aisle) THEY HAVE BECOME ENEMIES OF THE STATES. The United States of America’s strength ALWAYS will reside in its people.

Thinking that a nation’s military ranks, no matter how well-armed or crisply moral, possess sufficient puissance to guard Liberty’s beacon is a fool’s game. One that’s best left to Venezuelans and their EU betters for puzzling out as the world crashes down around their collective ears.

AWARDING THOSE SAME over-burdened, under-qualified, and excessively-trusted jihadis soldiers an exclusive monopoly on violence (i.e., Power), isn’t just unwise: Modern mountains of skulls slowly crumble in mute testimony to the lost millions that blithely entrusted their political power into the hands of persuasive madmen.

The slow graduated responses just allows the enemy to develop their assets to the point strikes like the ones I advocate are too expensive.

As usual, Richard, you more than most are intimately familiar with the round-robin cum death-spiral of electronic measures and countermeasures, with ECM being the pluperfect example of tactics taking over strategy.

As such resource competitions evolve and escalate, they usually take on a life of their own and eventually can outweigh more mission-critical elements. The Maginot Line is a sterling, if not concrete, military example of this mindset.

If there’s anything positive to said about nuclear weapons, it’s how they swept the Post-WWII chessboard clear of all but top ranking pieces in the 20th century Battle Royal. This stark (some might say, “bleak”) landscape took the wind out of piss-ant dictators everywhere until commie arsenals made internecine (e.g., Cold War) quarreling so counterproductive to where backsliding into good old blood-and-guts mayhem became a preferable alternative.

As the Great Game increasingly becomes one that’s “for all the marbles,” shoveling this Islamic shit off the lawn with a sixpack of canned sunshine will begin to get real attractive.

  6. New York restricts workplace speech and freedom of contract
By Hans Bader June 21, 2019

New York has just passed legislation that will tighten restrictions on speech in the workplace by defining it as “harassment” even if it is not harassment as the term is defined in federal law. The new definition of harassment is unconstitutionally over-broad, especially as applied to college campuses.

The legislation also amends New York State anti-discrimination law to cover even the tiniest employers, such as those with just one employee. All these employers will now be liable for punitive damages and attorneys fees to workers who successfully sue them for harassment or discrimination.

Small employers can be at a huge disadvantage in discrimination lawsuits. That’s because employers are forced to pay the worker’s lawyer if the worker wins a lawsuit against them, but employers have to pay their own lawyer even if the employer wins the lawsuit. For employers, it’s “heads you win, tails I lose.” One harassment plaintiff suffered so little that a jury awarded her only $1 in damages, but the court then awarded her lawyer over $40,000, payable by her employer. Employers are often ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to workers’ lawyers. That can bankrupt a small business.

New York’s new law was supposedly enacted in response to the “Me Too” movement. But its expansion of the definition of harassment doesn’t apply to just sexual harassment. It also covers speech deemed harassing based on other factors, such as sexual orientation, transgender status, religion, and race. Under the new law, even the tiniest family-owned businesses will be banned from discriminating based on these or other prohibited factors, such as “familial status” and “marital status.”

  7. BREAKING: General Flynn Uncovered Massive Clinton Scandal Linked to Terrorist Funding – Was Immediately Targeted by Obama Deep State

On November 10, 2017, we reported how the Wall Street Journal had received information from anonymous sources who said that General Flynn and his son Michael were involved in a plot to kidnap Muslim cleric and return him to Turkey.

The Wall Street Journal reported –

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating former White House national security adviser Mike Flynn’s alleged role in a plan to forcibly remove a Muslim cleric living in the U.S. and deliver him to Turkey in return for millions of dollars, according to people familiar with the investigation.

(Of course in the aftermath of Obama it is now customary and expected for FBI, DOJ and other government officials to leak true and false stories to the left wing media as long as they attack or discredit President Trump or anyone who voted for him. These corrupt and criminal leaks will never be investigated or addressed in court with the Deep State in charge of the US government.)

Regardless, the story may have been placed with the WSJ to entice General Flynn to later plead guilty to lying to the FBI. Of course, what Flynn supposedly lied about has never been leaked through the mainstream liberal media.

But based on a report at Neonrevolt, there is much more to this story.

  8. the gateway pundit – Iran Did Not Target A Manned US Navy Plane in Their Airspace When They Hit The Drone, Trump Says He ‘Appreciates That They Didn’t Do That’

President Donald Trump told reporters on Saturday that there was an American Boeing P-8 airplane with 38 people on board that had entered Iranian airspace when they targeted the drone — and he appreciates that they did not target it.
According to a statement from Aerospace Force head Amir Ali Hajzadeh, the Iranians could have shot down the manned Navy plane, but decided not to.

“There was a plane with 38 people yesterday, did you see that? I think that’s a big story. They had it in their sights and they didn’t shoot it down. I think they were very wise not to do that. And we appreciate that they didn’t do that. I think that was a very wise decision,” Trump told reporters as he departed for Camp David.

“Everybody was saying I’m a warmonger, and now they say I’m a dove. And I think I’m neither, if you want to know the truth. I’m a man with common sense, and that’s what we need in this country is common sense,” Trump added.

The Associated Press reported that an Iranian Revolutionary Guard general said the manned U.S. spy plane was near the surveillance drone it shot down but that Tehran chose not to target it.

“They’re not going to have a nuclear weapon. We’re not going to have Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump also asserted.

“Iran right now is an economic mess. They’re going through hell. The sanctions have hit them hard. More sanctions are going to be put on, a lot more,” Trump said. “All I want is no nuclear weapons…We could have a deal with them very quickly if they wanted to. It’s up to them.”

President Trump said on Friday that they had a retaliatory strike ready to go over the downed drone, until he was informed that there would be 150 human casualties if he went through with it. In one of his most presidential moments, Trump decided that a robot was not worth taking human lives over.

  9. Climate change protesters break through police coal mine cordon in Germany

Thousands of people joined climate change protests near one of Germany’s biggest lignite coal mines Saturday.

Police deployed hundreds of officers in and around the western German village of Hochneukirch to prevent demonstrators from blocking open-pit mine and adjacent power plants.

  10. I met two Jehovah’s Witnesses today promoting The End Of The World.
They had their Bible verse ready:

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

    4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Timothy+3%3A1-7&version=NIV

Now, I explained to them that John the Babtist taught “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near” and later his disciple Jesus taught “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near” who then later sent out his own 72 disciples in pairs to heal the sick in the House of Israel.

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+10%3A1-23&version=NIV

So, those who define themselves from the outside of the cup , will always seek ways to hide from impending calamities. They will submit. They will become the same followers of St Paul and later the same followers of Muhammad. Serving narcissists that claimed they saw visions that gave them their leaderships as Apostle to the Gentiles and Last Prophet to the World. Easy Meat. Dhimmis. St Paul’s Medina became Rome’s Mecca. Happy Slaves.

Because, if you were actually saving souls and not a whole stench of prides, then right up to the Very End you would still be saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” This never changes. It message is for those who are so close and yet so far away. Those with only their judgements of Outrage or Super-Piety as comforters, while paying their obligatory taxes that will get them into Heaven.

The knowledge of the truth, is about yourself. To give up the yoke you are carrying, from being controlled by your masters. Free from once tredding out the fields and chewing on the Cud of Superiority.

Repent. And only then, can you blast away the chains of denial and ignorance. The roots of evil.

Spokesman Ayoub Gassim said Saturday that five rubber boats carrying 199 migrants were intercepted over the past several days near the capital, Tripoli.

He says the coast guard intercepted 39 migrants Wednesday in two boats, another boat with 17 migrants Thursday and two more with 143 migrants Friday.

“Spain’s maritime rescue service says over 100 migrants have been collected from three boats attempting to reach Europe from northern Africa.

The maritime rescue service said one of the boats discovered Saturday carried eight people in the Strait of Gibraltar. Two larger boats, one with 58 people on board and another with 42, were located in waters east of the Strait.

The Spanish Interior Ministry says 8,834 people arrived by sea without authorisation between the start of the year and June 16th. That is fewer than the 10,746 who came to Spain by boat during the same period last year, when Spain became Europe’s top entry point for migrants.

The rescue service says 22 migrants were missing from a boat that had trouble Wednesday before it could be reached.”

  13. Top Merkel Party MP: Strip Right-wing ‘Extremists’ of Free Speech, Free Assembly (breitbart, Jun 22, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/06/22/top-merkel-party-mp-strip-right-wing-extremists-of-free-speech-free-assembly/

“The former General-Secretary of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has advocated stripping right-wing “extremists” of their fundamental rights to free speech and free assembly.

Mr Tauber, who serves as an MP for the CDU in the German Bundestag, made his statements following the murder of pro-open borders CDU member Walter Lübcke and the arrest of a suspect thought to be linked to far-right extremism.

Writing for German newspaper Die Welt, Tauber blamed members of the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) for the murder of Lübcke, saying, “the political climate of this republic has changed as well. The AfD in the German Bundestag and in the state parliaments contributes to this. With the dissolution of the language, they have paved the way for the dissemination of violence.”

Tauber also singled out several AfD members including co-chair Alice Weidel, saying they were ” complicit in the death of Walter Lübcke due to a language that is uninhibited and leads to violence.”

In order to combat right-wing extremism, Tauber advocates using Article 18 of the German constitution which allows the government to strip free speech, free assembly, property rights, privacy of communication, and freedom of the press from those deemed to be fighting against the “free democratic basic order”.

Tauber admitted that the rules were to prevent another rise of the Nazi party but said, “Article 18 is today an instrument not only against right-wing extremists but also against all others who are also committed to the fight against our freedom.”

While right-wing extremism has seen an increase over the past several years in Germany, so too has left-wing extremism, according to the German domestic intelligence agency the BfV, which released a report last year showing the number of violent left-wing extremists had increased by 27 per cent from 2012 to 2017.

The number of violent incidents committed by left-wing extremists rose by a staggering 88 per cent during the same period.

Tauber did not mention left-wing extremism at all in his writing, despite Antifa allegedly taking credit for nearly killing AfD politician Frank Magnitz earlier this year in Bremen.”

  14. Germany Sees Thirty Anti-Christian Attacks in Two Months (breitbart, Jun 22, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/06/22/germany-sees-thirty-anti-christian-attacks-in-two-months/

“According to a new report from a watchdog on anti-Christian incidents, between April and June Germany saw thirty anti-Christian attacks ranging from thefts to arsons.

The data was compiled by the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in Europe, who noted around 30 separate incidents between April 1st and June 10th published on the group’s website.

A large number of the cases involved various forms of vandalism, including an incident at the Lutheran Nikolaikirche in Caldern in which the attackers set fire to the hymn book and Bible at the altar of the church, and also left faeces on a bench outside of the church and at the entrance.

In Mannheim on April 29th, thieves caused a large amount of damage to another church, smashing the doors and other objects, causing around 10,000 euros in damages.

Around a third of the incidents over the period involved thefts, mainly of donation boxes, such as in the St. Marien Catholic Church in Bremerhaven where offerings of between 300 and 500 euros were stolen.

In the Osterfeld Protestant Church in Berkheim, Esslingen thieves stole three gaming consoles, a digital camera, and an SLR camera from the youth room and another room used for storage.

The estimated cost of the goods was around 1,000 euros but the damage done to the church itself amounted to another 2,000 euros.

Another theft in Bad Oldesloe saw suspects take a wooden cross from the altar of the Peter-Paul-Kirche that is thought to be worth between 3,000 and 5,000 euros.

In two cases, attackers attempted to set fire to churches in Ankum and Nordhausen but the blazes were put out before they could spread any do any serious damage.

The attacks and thefts come after a wave of similar incidents in France in recent months, with some estimating that the country sees an average of three church attacks per day.

Thousands of incidents occurred between 2016 and 2018 according, to the Central Criminal Intelligence Service (SCRC) of the gendarmerie.”

The hackers have reportedly sent waves of spear-phishing emails, according to CrowdStrike and FireEye, two cybersecurity firms which regularly track the activity.

  20. Turkey: Vote Until You Get It Right
    Anti-Greek Sentiments Unleashed Again

    by Vasileios Meichanetsidis
    June 22, 2019 at 1:30 pm

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14416/turkey-vote-until-you-get-it-right

A key issue in Turkey today is the “redo” of the mayoral election in Istanbul, slated for June 23. The first municipal election was held on March 31, but Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an refused to accept its result – the loss of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) candidate to that of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).

The CHP victor was Ekrem Imamoglu, originally from Trabzon, a city in the heartland of the historically Greek region of Pontos on the Black Sea coast in northeast Asia Minor. Since Imamoglu’s now-refuted election as mayor of Istanbul, many Turkish nationalists have been denigrating him for being of “Greek” or “Pontic Greek” origin.

  21. Oregon cap-and-trade bill includes ’emergency’ rider preventing overturn by voter referendum
Robert Kraychik, Breitbart June 21, 2019

[Ed. – Oh. The bill Republicans have fled the state to avert a legislative vote on. Mark well, grasshoppers: this is what Democrats do when they get both houses of a legislature and the governorship.]

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/06/21/oregon-cap-and-trade-bill-includes-emergency-rider-preventing-overturn-by-voter-referendum/

Oregon GOP Chair Defends Senate Walkout: Democrats Using Emergency Clause to Push Cap and Trade Bill

Bill Currier, chair of the Oregon Republican Party, told Breitbart News the Beaver state’s Republican state senators used a walkout as a “last resort” against their Democrat counterparts’ attachment of an emergency clause to prevent a public referendum on House Bill 2020.

The bill is a “cap and trade” measure taxing the production of carbon dioxide emissions. He joined Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight for an interview with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak in which he defended Oregon’s State Senate Republicans’ walkout.

On Thursday, Oregon’s Democrat Governor, Kate Brown, authorized state police to find the state’s missing Republican lawmakers after they failed to show up for a vote on the aforementioned bill. If passed, the bill would tax carbon dioxide emissions. The bill’s text mandates implementation of a “carbon pricing program” to “combat climate change,” which it attributes to carbon dioxide emissions

Richard: This action not only shows what they will do when they control all branches of government in the State it aslo show what they think about the voters. They don’t care if the majority of the voters don’t want the bill passed into law they are going to pass it because they (the self proclaimed governing elite) know what is best and the little serfs had better learn their place.

  22. UK: A Clash of Educations

    by Denis MacEoin
    June 22, 2019 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14415/britain-education-clash

What started as a small protest in the UK has taken on wider dimensions that are already spreading to other cities. For more than two months now, a primary school in Birmingham in the UK has been at the centre of a standoff between modern Western values and the concerns of a large group of Muslim parents. As early as April, reports said, leafleters were targeting schools in Birmingham, Manchester, Oldham, London, Blackburn and Bradford.

The almost daily protests outside the schools, although on a more muted scale, are the biggest since those against Salman Rushdie and his book, The Satanic Verses back in 1988 — events that for some radicalized a generation. According to the author Kenan Malik, those early protests sowed the seeds of rifts that have since become wider. Some form of clash between these two sets of values is taking place again.

Anderton Park Primary School is an outstanding place of education for children between the ages of five and eleven. Most of the children are Muslims, but that does not restrict the efforts to introduce them to being fully educated citizens in the country where most were born.

According to the UK’s 2011 Census, Muslims, numbering 234,014, make up 21.6% of Birmingham’s population, well above the average for England and Wales as a whole (4.8%). Birmingham is the largest city by population after London. Its Muslim population is almost as large, and the city itself is even more ethnically diverse than the capital. Muslims have arrived from Africa, Asia (mainly Bangladesh and Pakistan), and parts of eastern Europe. “Islam is a growing social force in Britain’s second city”, according to The Economist, and its Central Mosque “has influence everywhere from the classroom to the bedroom”.

    • No one would think that the English people are complaining as well never a mention,it seems that we have no right to anything, especially publicity. It is similar to many other issues that are only addressed if the middle class are affected, meanwhile down amongst the plebs ,only mozlems have the right to resist government assisted perversion. The English will soon be the quaint subjects of fairey stories found only in childrens books, upon which can be heaped all the worlds wrongs.

  23. Germany: Thousands of students march for climate action in Aachen

At least 20,000 students from 15 different countries marched through the German city of Aachen on Friday, demanding that governments take faster action on climate change in what has been labelled the biggest international ‘Fridays for Future’ demonstration ever.

Dina, an activist from German climate action group Ende Gelaende, called for coal and oil to be democratised in order to put a stop to private companies contributing to rising temperatures and the pollution of the planet.

“We are not willing to just watch and lie back while our planet and our future is destroyed for the interests of private companies. We are taking our future in our own hands, because the climate crisis is here right now,” she told cheering protesters.

The ‘Fridays for Future’ strike movement came to prominence through the then 15-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who conducted a solitary protest outside the Swedish parliament in 2018. Since then, Thunberg has galvanised tens of thousands of students across the world to walk out of school on Fridays to demand stronger action from their governments on climate change.

      • They seem totally unaware that any sacrifice on our part will be futile, while china ,india and the far east continue to pollute way above the levels that the west produced during its whole mechanical revolution. It is like giving up smoking whilst living in a house full of smokers, what will your sacrifice avail?

  24. India deploys warships to Persian Gulf amid rising tensions between US and Iran (PHOTOS)

The Indian Navy is deploying multiple vessels to the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, to provide “security” for Indian-flagged ships traversing the area. The decision follows multiple attacks on merchant ships there.

Designating the move “Operation Sankalp” (resolution), an Indian Navy spokesperson announced on Thursday that two warships would be deployed for “maritime security” in the troubled waters between Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The vessels will be backed up by air cover and surveillance assets.

    https://www.rt.com/news/462335-india-warships-persian-gulf/

Richard: I think it was last year India was trying to make some kind of a deal with India to get around some of the Chinese attempts to close off the sea approaches to India. The deployment of the two ships says that they didn’t succeed or they wouldn’t be sending warships to protect their commercial vessels. This action also implies that if push comes to s hove India will be backing the US and not opposing us, the same thing is true of Japan and Taiwan and probably the Philippines. This leaves Nam and Indonesia as the only two sea powers in the South China Sea that are a question mark.

Once again the sides are forming for the coming war, we are going to have to wait to see if the war will start or if tensions will ease enough for us to wait and left the Iranian and Chinese economies collapse. When looking at what the two nasties are doing remember the worse the ir economies become the more desterate they become, the more desperate they become the higher the probability that they will start shooting.

  25. Egypt, UAE send military support to Libya’s Haftar (memo, Jun 22, 2019)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190622-egypt-uae-send-military-support-to-libyas-haftar/

“The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has offered urgent military support for the forces of Libyan General Khalifa Haftar, who is fighting against the internationally-recognised Libyan government in the capital Tripoli.

Egypt also dispatched military experts to the battlefields in Libya to fight side-by-side with Haftar’s forces, Arabi 21 reported yesterday.

Arabi 21 cited reports by a Russian newspaper that the UAE has sent the Pantsir Defence System S1 to Haftar’s forces, which will allow them to combat the fighter jets of the Libyan government, which pushed Haftar’s forces from the airport on Tuesday.

In addition to the Pantsir Defence System, the military aid included anti-aircraft missiles, artillery ammunition and night sighting devices.

A couple of days ago, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi received Aqila Saleh, the speaker of Haftar’s parliament, during which the president reiterated his “full support” for Haftar.

On 4 April 2018, Haftar launched a military campaign to occupy Tripoli and oust the Libyan government. Haftar’s attack coincided with UN plans to hold a national dialogue conference in Libya, which was undermined by Haftar’s campaign.

Libya has been engaged in civil war since 2011, when former Prime Minister Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown against the backdrop of the Arab Spring.”

  26. German Police Arrest Moroccan National for Anti-Semitism (moroccoworldnews, Jun 22, 2019)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/06/276493/german-police-moroccan-anti-semitism/

“Rabat -A Moroccan national has been detained in Germany on suspicion of anti-semitic hate speech, which is a criminal offense in the European country.

On Friday, June 21, police announced the arrest of the Moroccan national, who is accused of “threatening, insulting and spitting” at two Jews in Hamburg, a port city in northern Germany.

The two Jewish men called the police for help, according to Associated Press

After a confrontation with a police officer, the Moroccan national allegedly tried to escape.

“He turned to the two men and spat at them,” AP reported.

The security services added in their statement that the Moroccan national, who spoke in Arabic and German, attempted to resist, which caused them to handcuff him.

German media said that the two men involved in the incident were a rabbi and a member of the German Jewish community.

While police initially detained the Moroccan national for anti-Semitism, he was then released pending further investigations into the circumstances of the case.

Volksverhetzung, or incitement to racial hatred, is a punishable offense in Germany under section 130 of the country’s penal code.

The crime includes any insulting or denigrating speech in a public place to other citizens reasons for race or religion. Section 130 applies to non-German citizens when the hate speech occurs within German territory.

If found guilty of Volksverhetzung, the Moroccan national could face up to five years in prison.”

All of the migrants were either taken to hospitals to receive medical care or transferred to provincial migration offices.

Some 268,000 irregular migrants were held in Turkey in 2018, according to the Interior Ministry.

Turkey has been a key transit point for irregular migrants aiming to cross into Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution.”

  28. ‘False imprisonment’ case against Italy’s Salvini dropped (thelocal, Jun 22, 2019)
    https://www.thelocal.it/20190622/case-against-italys-salvini-for-false-imprisonment-dropped

“An Italian court on Friday threw out a case against Interior Minister Matteo Salvini for alleged false imprisonment after he refused to let migrants disembark from a rescue ship.
The probe had centred on 47 people rescued on January 19 off Libya by the Sea-Watch 3 charity ship, which was only permitted to dock on January 31 after Italy struck a deal with other European countries to take the migrants.

“It wasn’t false imprisonment but simply a request for the rules to be upheld? Good!” Salvini said after the court’s ruling.

“Trials and investigations do not scare me, but I am glad the judiciary confirms ports can be closed to pirate ships,” he said.

The court in Sicily ruled the Sea-Watch 3, owned by a German charity and flying a Dutch flag, had “entered Italy unilaterally and without the necessary authorisation from the coast guard”, according to Italian media reports.

The case against other senior ministers, including Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, vice-premier Luigi Di Maio and Minister of Transport Danilo Toninelli, was also shelved.

Attempts to launch trial proceedings against Salvini for blocking migrants aboard another ship earlier this year also fell through after the Senate ruled he should not be stripped of his parliamentary protection to face charges.”

  29. Dubai’s ruler wins fight over 6ft fence (express, Jun 21, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1143680/dubai-ruler-home-surrey-estate-wins-fight-neighbours-fence

“DUBAI’s ruler has won a battle with neighbours after he was allowed to keep a fence around his Surrey estate.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, 69, who is vice-president of the United Arab Emirates, was accused of showing “cynical disregard” for planning laws by erecting the 6ft 6in-high spiked metal fence without planning permission. Locals had said the fence was totally inappropriate for the area and blocked vital wildlife corridors between Chobham Common and the previously open estate. Now he has been granted retrospective approval by Runnymede Borough Council for the £75million security barrier at Longcross estate on condition openings are made every 90ft to allow wildlife to pass through.

Billionaire racehorse owner Sheikh Mohammed – who has more than 30 children and was seen at Royal Ascot this week – erected the green metal fence last year.

Tim Knight, boss of Knight Security, the sheikh’s security contractor, said it was necessary because members of the public hurled “verbal abuse and racism” at guards and trespassed on his private grounds.

The land is covered by an Article Four Direction, meaning even minor changes must receive permission from the council. The estate includes a palatial home where the sheikh escapes the Dubai summer heat.”
