Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  4. Pittsburgh resident, Syrian man arrested on terrorism charges after planning attack on Christian church

Complaint alleges Syrian man plotted attacks in name of ISIS

A man in Pittsburgh has been arrested and accused of plotting to attack a church on the city’s North Side.

Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, 21, a resident of Pittsburgh was arrested Wednesday based on a federal complaint charging him with one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, and two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device, or weapon of mass destruction in relation to his plan to attack a church.

According to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh, the FBI Pittsburgh investigation revealed that Alowemer plotted to bomb a church located on the North Side, using a weapon of mass destruction.

Alowemer allegedly planned to bomb the Legacy International Worship Center. The FBI said he recently bought a number of items that could be used in making a bomb.

According to the complaint and information provided to the FBI by the Department of Homeland Security, Alowemer was born in Daraa, Syria, and was admitted to the United States as a refugee on Aug. 1, 2016.

The announcement was made by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Assistant Director Michael McGarrity of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division and Special Agent in Charge Robert Jones of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Division.

“Targeting places of worship is beyond the pale, no matter what the motivation,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “The defendant is alleged to have plotted just such an attack of a church in Pittsburgh in the name of ISIS. The National Security Division and our partners will continue our efforts to identify and bring to justice individuals in our country who seek to commit violence on behalf of ISIS and other terrorist organizations. I want to thank the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this investigation.”

“Our top priority is protecting the citizens of western Pennsylvania,” said U.S. Attorney Brady. “Every day investigators and prosecutors work tirelessly behind the scenes to disrupt terrorist activity and keep our community safe. While the public does not always see the results of the hard work of these dedicated men and women, this case is a visible demonstration of our commitment to rooting out terrorists and bringing them to justice.”

  6. BREITBART – YouTube Blacklists Spain’s Populist ‘Vox’ Political Party

YouTube has blacklisted the channel of Spain’s populist Vox Party, in a move that will likely exacerbate claims that Google is actively suppressing right-leaning and conservative content.

“YouTube has deleted Vox’s entire channel without explanation,” the party wrote on Twitter. “The decision to remove the channel is a serious attack on the freedom of expression and dissemination of a political party. We demand an explanation from YouTube and that the account is restored as soon as possible.”

Vox later revealed that YouTube had taken the decision on the grounds that left-wing activists had lodged complaints of copyright infringement.

“YouTube has informed us that the disabling of the VOX channel is due to the complaint made by three people who believe that we have used the content of theirs,” they explained. “The three people who have denounced us are left-wing activists… We have found that other political parties and progressive channels use the same audiovisual resources without being denounced for it.”

The Vox party later used the blacklisting to accuse YouTube of bowing to the demands of left-wing activists, a trend extensively documented by Breitbart News and other conservative news sources.

“We take advantage of this fact to show our outrage at the arbitrary actions of Twitter, Facebook and Google; hypersensitive to the requests of activists of totalitarian Marxism and the establishment,” they continued. “We show our support to all those who, like us, have been affected by these arbitrary actions by those responsible for these social networks in recent months.”

The move provides fresh evidence of political meddling on behalf of Google and other major Silicon Valley firms. In April’s general election, the Vox Party won 24 seats in the Spanish parliament, obtaining around 10 percent of the nationwide vote. The party also recently returned three MEP’s in last month’s European Parliamentary Elections.

YouTube did not respond to Breitbart News’s request for comment.

  7. Spain busts gang that helped ‘finance Al Qaeda militia’ (thelocal, Jun 19, 2019)
    https://www.thelocal.es/20190619/spain-busts-gang-that-helped-finance-al-qaeda-militia

“Spanish police on Tuesday detained 10 nationals of Syrian origin accused of financing “Al Qaeda terrorist militia” in Syria, the interior ministry and a source close to the probe said.

With Europol’s collaboration, more than 350 agents took part in an operation in Madrid, further south in Toledo and the eastern province of Valencia.

Fourteen homes and other premises were searched by officers.

The source, who refused to be named, said the detainees were Spanish of Syrian origin.

“The organisation was led by a family clan that for years allegedly used a legal business structure to hide illicit operations with which they evaded tax authorities and laundered large amounts of money,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The detainees allegedly took away money from each legal operation, substituting the real amount of the operation in the receipt with another lower value amount,” it said.

A large part of the stash of cash amassed went to the opposition-held province of Idlib in Syria to “give support and financial backing to terrorist militia there.”

Relatives of the suspects are allegedly Al Qaeda members.

The money was sent via various methods including human couriers and the “hawala” system, an informal method of payment based on trust that is far more difficult to trace than bank transfers.

One of those detained had already been arrested in Syria in 2008 and sentenced for his participation in an attack and for belonging to jihadistgroup Fatah al-Islam.

The operation comes just weeks after a Syrian man was detained on suspicion of funnelling money to European jihadists linked to the Islamic State group so that they could return to Europe.”
