Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

The Iranian government continues to defy international standards, as it refuses to act as a rational and constructive state, even apart from its repeated malign behavior in the Gulf of Oman this week. Iran’s Supreme Guide Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who enjoys the final say in all of Iran’s domestic and foreign policies, recently proclaimed to the youth in Iran that they will soon witness the demise of Israel and all of American civilization. This announcement was confirmed on the Supreme Leader’s official website.

Khamenei made Iran’s intentions clear while meeting with students. “You young people,” he declared, “should be assured that you will witness the demise of the enemies of humanity, meaning the degenerate American civilization, and the demise of Israel”.

Iran also recently produced a program on its state television channel demonstrating that the government is currently practicing missile attacks, with the purpose of carrying out actual attacks on Israel. The video excerpt included in the television broadcast showed how the operations the Iranians are striving to put into action will bombard Tel Aviv. The video concludes with images of Israeli citizens covered in white sheets, indicating great tragedy for Israel, and a victory for the Islamic Republic.

The Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, also recently threatened on Iran’s Channel 2 TV that Israel is “vulnerable and bringing itself closer to death”.

  2. Aren’t delirious Democrats now accusing Team Obama of treason?
By John Solomon, opinion contributor — 06/14/19 12:15 PM EDT

If you read the newspapers, tuned into the cable TV pundits or received an email from one of the Democrats running for president, you’d swear Donald Trump was back to his treasonous ways.

All that was missing was an annoying OMG text exclamation punctuating the unfounded claims that Trump might violate the law in 2020 by accepting intelligence on a political rival from a foreign country. The inference, of course, is that it would come from a hostile power such as Russia or North Korea or Iran.

Actually, what Trump told ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos was that he’d consider taking intelligence dirt about a rival from a friendly ally. (Norway was the actual example he used.)

Sound familiar? That is EXACTLY what the Obama administration did in 2016. It’s something no one in the media or the political space grasped during the tsunami of breathless reaction that followed the interview.

  3. the gateway pundit – HORROR! Mom and Lesbian Lover Rip Off 9-Year-Old Son’s Penis and Behead Him for “Reminding Her of Her Dad”

A MUM and her lesbian lover tore off her nine-year-old son’s penis before beheading him because he reminded her of her dad.

Mum Rosana Cândido, 27, and Kacyla Pessoa, 28, of Brazil, stabbed the boy over a dozen times and removed all the skin from his face before butchering his body.

The pair were said to have even used a knife to try to gouge out the boy’s eyeballs to prevent possible recognition.

They bodged a bid to burn some of him on a barbecue so stuffed his remains in a suitcase dumped in a sewer, police said.

Other parts were found in two backpacks at their home in Brazil.

The lovers are said to have confessed all to horrified cops in Samambaia, about 20 miles from capital Brasilia.

They face homicide, torture and concealing a corpse charges.

In a gory twist, they are also accused of tearing off Cândido’s son Rhuan’s penis a year ago during horrifying home-made surgery.

    https://thedefensepost.com/2019/06/15/kenya-police-killed-ied-somalia-al-shabaab-mogadishu/

“At least eight Kenyan police officers were killed on Saturday, June 15 when their vehicle was struck by an IED while on patrol in Wajir County near the border with Somalia, police sources said.

Separately, an Al-Shabaab car bomb in Somalia capital Mogadishu killed eight people, hours after militia executed nine civilians in retribution for Al-Shabaab killing a police officer.

Kenya Police Inspector General Hilary Mutyambai said a Land Cruiser with 11 police on board “was hit by an improvised explosive device.”

He did not give a toll, but a regional police source told AFP: “we lost eight police officers in this attack.”

Mutyambai said the police had been on patrol between Khorof-Harar and Konton in Wajir county on the border between Kenya and Somalia.

Unnamed Kenyan officials earlier said those killed were among a group of officers who were pursuing gunmen who had kidnapped three police reservists in Konton centre in Wajir East, Al Jazeera reported. Those sources said at least 10 police officers had been killed in the explosion.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, saying they had temporarily taken control of Khorof Harar village…”

    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/06/15/2032766/turkey-slams-eu-summit-declaration-on-eastern-mediterranean-cyprus

“Turkey on Saturday rejected an EU summit’s declaration on the issues of the Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean, and Cyprus, calling it “against international law.”

The joint declaration from Friday’s South EU summit in Malta reflects the national positions of Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration, which do not comply with UN principles on solving the Cyprus issue or the rules of international law, said a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement.

“For us, it lacks any value, force, or effect,” the ministry said, Anadolu Agency reported.

The ministry added that it shows once again that the EU and EU countries cannot be impartial, trustworthy actors in solving the Cyprus issue.

The 6th South EU Summit was held in Malta on Friday with the participation of France, Italy, Spain, Malta, Portugal, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot administration.”

  6. Iran Willing to Boost Trade Ties with Turkey: President Rouhani (tasnimnews, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/06/15/2032760/iran-willing-to-boost-trade-ties-with-turkey-president-rouhani

“Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the importance of the country’s relations with neighboring Turkey and said Tehran is willing to boost ties with Ankara in all areas, economy in particular.

“In recent years, valuable steps have been taken for the development of relations between Iran and Turkey, and this process needs to accelerate,” Rouhani said at a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the 5th summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe on Saturday.

He also described regional cooperation between Iran and Turkey as important, saying the two countries’ cooperation with each other and with Russia regarding regional issues, the Astana peace process, and the reconstruction of Syria is very important for strengthening peace and stability in the region.

Rouhani further emphasized that Tehran is willing to cement ties with Ankara in all fields of mutual interest, especially economy and trade.

Erdogan, for his part, said that bilateral ties between Iran and Turkey are close and developing in all fields.

Tehran and Ankara have ramped up efforts in recent years to boost bilateral trade, setting a $30-billion annual trade target and signing several agreements to enhance cooperation in various areas.

Turkey is one of Iran’s major trading partners in the region which has come under pressure from Washington to stop working with Tehran under a fresh wave of US anti-Iran sanctions.

Turkey has emphasized that the US demands to stop purchasing oil and gas from Iran would go unheeded by Ankara.”

  7. Boosting Ties with Qatar A Priority of Iran’s Policy: President (tasnimnews, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/06/15/2032704/boosting-ties-with-qatar-a-priority-of-iran-s-policy-president

“Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described enhancement of relations with neighbors, Qatar in particular, as an indispensable part of Tehran’s foreign policy.

In a Saturday meeting with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the 5th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Tajikistan, Rouhani hailed the “brotherly and friendly” ties between Tehran and Doha.

Expansion of relations with the neighboring and friendly countries, particularly with Qatar, is a constant priority of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy, Rouhani said, adding, “The stability and security of regional countries are interlinked.”

Rouhani also referred to “bilateral and multilateral consultations” as the only way to ease tensions and resolve regional conflicts.

He further called for efforts to tap into the ample economic opportunities for strong relations between Iran and Qatar in order to serve the interests of the two nations.

For his part, the Qatari emir voiced his country’s readiness to broaden ties with Iran in all fields of mutual interest.

Qatar believes that all conflicts in the region could be settled only through dialogue, collective cooperation and political solutions, Al Thani underlined.

Heading a ranking delegation, Rouhani arrived in Dushanbe on Friday night after a trip to Kyrgyzstan where he took part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

The ongoing CICA summit in Dushanbe is designed to serve as a platform for discussing and resolving problems in Asia, as well as for promoting initiatives and finding effective mechanisms at a high level.

The idea of formation of CICA was first brought up by Kazakhstan’s outgoing President Nursultan Nazarbayev in October 1992, during the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.”

  8. Wave of Fake News on Egyptian Authorities Shuttering Mosques (aawsat, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1768541/wave-fake-news-%C2%A0egyptian-authorities-shuttering%C2%A0mosques

“The Egyptian government has refuted claims on thousands of mosques being shut as a result of its counter-terrorism plan.

A number of false news reports were published on social media and other online platforms had triggered public concerns.

The Egyptian government has become the target of allegations after having imposed a plethora of measures to regulate and protect mosques, preachers and religious institutions against the dissemination extremist ideology.

Rumors recently claimed that nearly 20,000 Islamic places of worship were shuttered by the Awqaf Ministry, which issued a statement reaffirming that no mosque was closed all over Egypt, and that the raging controversy was baseless.

The Awqaf Ministry, on Friday, said it was shutting some platforms on Friday, the day on which a speech is given by Muslim clerics and preachers, but reopening the venue for prayers. This is part of its effort to reign in deviating preachers from spreading a message of extremism and block terror groups from reaching out to the public and susceptible youth.

Confirming that it is responsible for regulating more than 198,000 mosques across the country, the ministry noted that this figure still does not cover the undeclared venues political Islamist groups could be exploiting in the name of religion.

On another note, Awqaf’s statement also denied rumors on allowing the construction of unlicensed mosques.

“The ministry prohibits the construction of mosques without an official license thereof,” it confirmed, adding that licensed mosques are focused on the memorization verses from the Quran, and on serving as medical centers to provide health and community services for citizens and nurseries for children.

The Egyptian government also denied other rumors that went viral on social media and online platforms accusing authorities of “imposing new taxes, discriminating against Sinai Peninsula locals when hiring civil servants, and selling off public sector companies to foreign investors.””

  9. Adel Al-Jubeir: Everyone Wants to Avoid War, Except Iran (aawsat, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1768416/adel-al-jubeir-everyone-wants-avoid-war-except-iran

“Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir has confirmed Iran’s involvement in attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

“Everyone in the region wants to avoid war and military conflict, except Iran,” he said.

“We were trying to use diplomacy and economic sanctions to get Iran to do the right thing and to make it clear that its behavior is unacceptable,” he told CNN in an interview.

He noted that Saudi assessments of attacks on the oil tankers matched US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s announcement about Iran’s responsibility.

“We have no reason to disagree with the Secretary of State. We agree with him,” Jubeir told CNN. “Iran has a history of doing this.”

The Saudi minister emphasized that his country had made it clear that Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons was unacceptable and dangerous to the region and to the entire world, adding that Saudi Arabia would do everything in its power to protect its interests.

Meanwhile, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash criticized Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif, saying the situation in the region required wise actions. He added that Zarif’s credibility was “diminishing.”

He said in a Twitter post: “Every single day Iran’s Foreign Minister Zarif’s reference to team B becomes more farcical and his credibility diminishing. Public relations is no real substitute to constructive policies. De-escalation in current situation requires wise actions not empty words.”

According to Reuters, Zarif often uses “Team B” to refer to US National Security Adviser John Bolton and those in the US administration who share his aggressive stance towards Iran.”

“Belgian State Council decided on Friday to suspend the licenses of arms exports to Saudi Arabia fearing their use against civilians in Yemen, media sources reported.

In recent months Belgium’s Foreign Minister Didier Reynders has been a vocal advocate against arms sales to the kingdom because of its human rights violations in Yemen.

In May, he said: “I think that it would be good to suspend contracts of selling arms to Saudi Arabia,” calling for the three Belgian regions to act accordingly.”

“Six Belgian children of Daesh members were brought back to Belgium on Friday from camps in Syria as reported on Reuters.

The children, ranging in age from six to 18, were all left parent-less in Syria, making their repatriation less complicated than that of dozens of other Belgian children of Daesh members held in Syria’s northern Kurdish region.

“The 6 children from #Syria have just arrived in our country,” Belgium’s Foreign Minister Didier Reynders Tweeted late on Friday. “The children are now being monitored and supervised by the competent local state attorneys & youth support services.”…”

    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2019/6/13/uk-newspapers-could-face-investigation-over-saudi-links

“Newspapers The Independent and The Evening Standard could face an inquiry after a Saudi businessman bought stakes in the British media outlets.

The investigation could look into whether the media outlets would be able accurately present news and guarantee freedom of speech due to the Saudi connection, according to The Guardian.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright said he couled intervene in the sale of 30 percent of the holdings in the two media giants to Saudi banker Sultan Muhammad Abuljadayel.

“If I decide to issue an intervention notice, the next stage would be for Ofcom to assess and report to me on the public interest concerns and for the Competition and Markets Authority to assess and report to me on whether a relevant merger situation has been created and any impact this may have on competition,” he said.

He referred to the Enterprise Act 2002 which states “the need for (a) accurate presentation of news; and (b) free expression of opinion” in newspapers.

The newspapers are owned by Lebdev Holdings, which sold the stake to a Cayman Islands-registered company, later revealed to be owned by Abuljadayel, who also has links to Saudi’s state-owned bank.

The Independent recently opened a number of foreign-language outlets, including The Independent Arabia with the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, despite Riyadh facing criticism for huge human rights abuses and detaining activists and critics.

Saudi Arabia is among the worst in the world for press freedom, while figures connected to the kingdom’s effective-ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman allegedly murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.”

“Cairo: Emirati Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash on Friday sharply criticized Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, saying his credibility is diminishing “every single day”.

Gargash’s remarks came after Zarif accused what he called “B Team” in the US administration of adopting sabotage diplomacy and covering up “economic terrorism” against Iran amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington.

“Every single day Iran’s Foreign Minister Zarif’s reference to team B becomes more farcical & his credibility diminishing,” Gargash said in a tweet.

He urged Iran, involved in destabilizing the region, of acting wisely in order to calm escalation.

“Public relations is no real substitute to constructive policies. De-escalation in current situation requires wise actions not empty words,” Gargash added.

The US has blamed Iran for attacking two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman near the strategic Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.

Earlier, Washington had accused Iran of standing behind an attack against four tankers off the coast of the UAE last month.”

Another 16 people were wounded, some of them seriously, Dr Abdiqadir Aden with the Aamin ambulance service told The Associated Press.

He said a car bomb detonated near the Somali parliament headquarters in Mogadishu and caused the most damage.

The Al Qaida-linked Al Shabab extremist group, which often targets the capital with high-profile bombings, quickly claimed responsibility for the latest attack.

Al Shabab said the blasts were meant to strike the first line of security checkpoints for the heavily fortified airport and the presidential palace…”

    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/06/275913/police-tangier-assaulter-german-tourist/

“Coordinating with the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and after several hours of investigation, Tangier’s judiciary police arrested on Saturday the suspect who physically assaulted a German tourist and tried to grab her handbag.

The DGSN stated in its communiqué that “preliminary information for the investigation revealed that the suspect, 29 years old, from Guelmim [south of Morocco], was residing temporarily in the city of Tangier at his brother’s house.”

It added that, “the information available at this stage of the search shows that he suffers from psychological symptoms.”

The police seized a medium-sized knife used in committing the crime in addition to the clothes the suspect wore during the assault.

Authorities placed the aggressor in detention to investigate with him the circumstances and motives of committing the aggression.

On Friday, June 14, a 50-year-old German woman was assaulted in a public street in Tangier.

According to a witness, the suspect and the victim had been cohabiting in an apartment belonging to an acquaintance, who turned out to be the assaulter’s brother, according to DGSN.

The witness added that the suspect had begun to argue with the German woman, before assaulting her.”

  16. Saudi minister requests support for YPG/PKK terrorists (aa, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/saudi-minister-requests-support-for-ypg-pkk-terrorists/1504938

“A Saudi minister has asked support for the YPG/PKK terror group from Arab tribes in areas occupied by the terrorist group in Syria, according to local sources.

Thamer al-Sabhan, Saudi State Minister for Gulf Affairs, visited YPG/PKK-held areas in Syria, along with U.S. envoy to the international coalition against Daesh, William Robak.

Al-Sabhan also met with representatives of Arab tribes in Al-Omar oilfield, northeast of Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

During the meeting, the Saudi minister asked for supporting YPG/PKK terror group, in exchange for support for Arabs in the area and help against Daesh terrorist group, the source said.

The Saudi minister also warned Arab tribes against approaching Turkey and Qatar, the sources said.

Al-Sabhan had previously visited areas held by YPG/PKK terrorists in Syria.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.

The activities of the YPG/PKK terrorist group, PKK’s Syria branch in northern Syria, have been a major security concern for Ankara, while the U.S. administration viewed the group as a “reliable partner” in the fight against Daesh.

Turkish leaders have long warned their U.S. counterparts that one cannot rely on a terrorist organization in the fight against another terrorist group.”

  17. Texas school board rejects request to open FETO schools (aa, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/americas/texas-school-board-rejects-request-to-open-feto-schools/1504767

“The Texas State Board of Education voted Friday to reject a request to open a chain of charter schools run by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

The Texas Commissioner of Education had submitted 24 proposals to the board for opening various charter schools throughout the state. One of the proposed school chains, Royal Public Schools, was being headed by Soner Tarim.

Tarim, the CEO of Unity School Services (USS) and founder of Harmony Schools in Texas, is a member of FETO, a designated terrorist group in Turkey.

DeEtta Culbertson, a spokeswoman for the Texas Education Agency, confirmed the board’s decision in a phone call to Anadolu Agency but said she could not give the reason behind it.

But Debbie Ratcliffe, executive director of the State Board of Education Support Division at the Texas Education Agency, said in an emailed reply to Anadolu Agency that there was strong opposition from the traditional school districts in the areas where Tarim wanted to open new charter schools.

Ratcliffe said those districts were the Austin Independent School District and the Alief Independent School District, which is in the Houston area.

“Those school officials felt that their schools were doing a good job and that there were many existing charter schools in the areas already,” she said, adding there were also questions about staffing and curriculum and about Tarim’s involvement with new charter schools in Alabama.

The U.S.-based leader of FETO — billionaire Fetullah Gulen, who views education as a lucrative industry to raise money for his illegal activities — oversees the operation of more than 150 charter schools across the U.S.

FETO and Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Tarim left Harmony Schools in November 2017, according to filmmaker Mark Hall, who has released a documentary on FETO charter schools in the U.S., and began working on creating the Royal Public Schools chain in the cities of Austin and Houston. The original proposal was for eight schools, which was then reduced to four, and they were ultimately rejected on Friday.

Hall said that many on the 15-member state school board do not acknowledge the existence of the FETO movement in the U.S., and the ones who believe that the terrorist group poses a threat will not admit it.

Hall told Anadolu Agency that he testified before the board while it was considering the proposal and was called a “conspiracy theorist”.

Tarim’s company USS is also tied to a charter school project in Alabama.”

  18. Swedish police seized record number of weapons in 2018 (thelocal, Jun 15, 2019)
    https://www.thelocal.se/20190615/swedish-police-seized-record-number-of-weapons-in-2018

“Swedish police seized a record 1,180 weapons last year as they sought to bring the wave of gang criminality of the last few years under control.

The number of weapons seized was up 368 on 2017 and continued the steady rise in annual seizures since 2010, when only 398 weapons were seized.

Gunnar Appelgren, Chief Superintendent in Stockholm, told Sweden’s state broadcaster SVT that he was not surprised.

“I would have expected it to rise,” he said. “Partly it’s because the number of weapons has risen. The import of weapons from, above all, the former Balkans and their neighbouring countries, has increased.

“Partly, it’s because we’ve been better at finding weapons and being in the right place at the right time.”

Appelgren said that the controversial 2015 police reform appeared to be starting to pay off, which meant police had become better at “keeping a grip on criminal environments.”

“We put a lot of emphasis on looking for weapons, both through intelligence and through investigations in pro-active police work,” he said.

Of the weapons seized, the majority were pistols, and 102 were military weapons.”

  19. Identified for the first time… the jihadis next door: The eight men who stood in prayer behind ISIS flag in London (dailymail, Jun 16, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7145929/Identified-time-jihadis-door-men-stood-prayer-ISIS-flag.html

“Standing shoulder-to-shoulder in London’s Regent’s Park, eight men stand in prayer behind a black flag used by groups including Islamic State.

The men were caught on camera for The Jihadis Next Door, a Channel 4 documentary that was aired in 2016 and which lifted the lid on the scale of Islamic fanaticism in Britain.

The event was organised by Al-Muhajiroun, a group led by the hate preacher Anjem Choudary which had been banned by the Government in 2006.

The prayers were led by Mohammed Shamsuddin, 42, a hate preacher who has claimed benefits for much of his life and who was effectively Choudary’s deputy.

Today, The Mail on Sunday can reveal the identities of all eight men and the lives of hate-filled extremism they went on to lead.

    1) Shakil Chapra

A former part-time bus driver who spouts hatred on YouTube using the name Abu Haleema.

He was stripped of his passport in 2014 over fears he wanted to join IS in Syria and was quizzed by police about his association with a British schoolboy later jailed for life for encouraging a man in Australia to carry out an atrocity.

    2) Murat Kocchat

An extremist thought to be of Turkish-Kurdish origin. He has been photographed attending Al-Muhajiroun rallies and was caught on camera in the Channel 4 documentary listening closely to Shamsuddin sermon.

    3) Abdul Muquith

Using the name Abu Sayfillaah, Muquith posts lectures on YouTube in which he says Muslims must never mingle or live with non-Muslims. It is understood his face was obscured in the documentary because he was then under police investigation.

    4) Khuram Butt

The mastermind of the London Bridge terror attack in June 2017 that left eight people dead. The married father of two was described as a ‘heavyweight’ member of Al-Muhajiroun.

    5) Emmanuel Kelly Asamoah

A regular at Al-Muhajiroun rallies, Asamoah was photographed at a 2014 demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London with extremists including Siddhartha Dhar, who fled to Syria in 2014.

    6) Adinan Abdulatif

An extremist from Barking, East London, Abdulatif was involved in credit card fraud with Butt in the months before the London Bridge atrocity. He later pleaded guilty to fraud.

    7) Taha Hussain

The 21-year-old from Slough, Berkshire, was jailed for four-and-a-half years in 2017 for making a video outside Windsor Castle in which he pledged to kill non-believers.

    8) Ricardo McFarlane

A veteran Al-Muhajiroun preacher, the 32-year-old convert was arrested in 2012 for leading ‘Sharia patrols’ in East London to impose Islamic law on the streets. He was sentenced to 26 weeks for his role in intimidating people.”

  20. Obama DOJ Spokesperson Twists Himself in Knots Trying to Explain Why It’s Fine For Democrats to Hire Foreigners for Campaigns

Former Obama Justice Department Spokesperson Matt Miller did his best yesterday to justify the DNC and Clinton campaign’s hiring of foreign spy Christopher Steele during the 2016 presidential election.

During an interview on MSNBC, Miller said it was perfectly legal to hire a foreigner for information, but illegal to receive free information or “help” from a foreigner.

“It is legal under United States law for a campaign to hire a foreign individual, to hire someone, to pay them to go out and conduct research or do other things for you. Campaigns do that from time to time. That’s what the DNC did,” Miller said. “It is illegal to accept help from a foreigner.”

Miller’s comments came after President Trump said he would listen to information presented to him by a foreign individual about a campaign opponent before potentially calling the FBI.

Apparently accepting foreign help during a campaign, paid or unpaid, is ethical only if you’re a Democrat. If you’re President Trump, it’s an impeachable offense.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy summed it up nicely:

  21. VICE News – Meet the Muslim Patrol That’s Looking Out for Brooklyn Mosques

A recent spate of attacks on houses of worship — including the shootings at a synagogue in San Diego at the end of April and the Easter church bombings in Sri Lanka — have put religious communities on edge across the globe.

But in Brooklyn, a group of Muslim volunteers have created a new community patrol service, aptly named the Muslim Community Patrol and Services, to keep a lookout over the community.

Similar to Jewish and Asian community patrol groups that came before it, MCPS began shifts in late March, going around their local neighborhoods and communicating with law enforcement when they come across incidents.

“A lot of crime is deterred just by the presence itself —having the lights on, having the cars look like the way they are,” one of the volunteers, Mohammad Khan, told VICE News.

  22. ISTANBUL – Screaming Turkish Airlines passenger smashes cabin window then rushes cockpit before stewards subdue him

PASSENGERS and cabin crew on board a Turkish Airlines flight to Sudan had to subdue a man who went berserk and rushed towards the cockpit.

He started screaming soon after takeoff and began smashing a cabin window and oxygen mask box, before pushing past flight attendants to get to the front of the plane.

Hussein Malla, who was on the flight, said several passengers stopped the man in the Boeing 737-900’s business class section.

Flight attendants calmed him down after about 15 minutes and he was taken back to a seat as the plane continued toward Khartoum.

They said the man, who is reportedly of Sudanese origin, was complaining about not being able to breathe.

    TERRIFIED TOTS

But around two hours later, the pilots announced the plane was returning to Istanbul.

The man suddenly stood up and headed toward the front of the plane, when others grabbed him and shackled him with plastic restraints provided by stewards.

Passengers were yelling in fear and children were crying during the high-altitude ordeal.

Officer escorted him off the plane when it finally landed back in Istanbul – about three hours after it took off.

As he exited, he reportedly shook hands with some passengers and kissed children.

Turkish Airlines has yet to respond to requests for comment.

Passengers subdue chaotic man on board Turkish Airlines jet

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Passengers on a Turkish Airlines jetliner flying to Sudan had to subdue a man who started screaming a few minutes after takeoff and began smashing an oxygen mask box and then a cabin window before pushing flight attendants aside and rushing toward the cockpit.

Associated Press photographer Hussein Malla was on the flight Friday and says several passengers stopped the man in the Boeing 737-900?s business class section. Flight attendants calmed the man down after about 15 minutes and he was taken back to a seat as the plane continued toward Khartoum. Flight attendants said the man was complaining about not being able to breathe.

After about 2½ hours, the pilots announced the plane was returning to Istanbul. A few minutes later, the man suddenly stood up and headed toward the front of the plane, where others grabbed him and tried to shackle him with plastic restraints provided by flight attendants but he resisted.

Passengers were yelling in fear and children were crying.

The plane landed back in Istanbul about three hours after it took off and police escorted the man off. As he departed, he shook hands with some passengers and kissed some children.

A Turkish Airlines official on Saturday confirmed Malla’s account, saying a 35-year-old Sudanese man on Flight TK680 from Istanbul to Khartoum displayed aggressive behavior, causing damage to the plane and physically and verbally harming other passengers.

He said the airline was forced to apply “inadmissible passenger” procedures to prevent further harm to passengers and ensure flight safety, which meant that the plane was diverted back to Istanbul and had to circle in the air to reduce fuel before landing.

It was not clear if the man, who was in police custody, was psychologically disturbed, the official said. He spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

He said the airline will decide later whether to file a legal complaint against the passenger.
