Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Number of Arab youths viewing US as ‘enemy’ doubles (memo, May 2, 2019)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190502-number-of-arab-youths-viewing-us-as-enemy-doubles/

“The findings of the largest survey of Arab youth were released earlier this week with some eye-opening revelations. America’s standing in the region has declined significantly while Russia’s image has been boosted. The share of young Arabs regarding the US as an enemy has almost doubled since 2016, while Russia’s standing has risen, with 64 per cent. Two-thirds regard Iran as an enemy; while a third view the Islamic Republic as an ally.

These were just some of the conclusions made in the 2019 Arab Youth Survey. Now in its 11th year, the study is commissioned by a Dubai-based communications agency. It is based on interviews with 3,300 people aged 18-24 in 15 countries, excluding war-torn Syria and Qatar, which is under a trade embargo imposed by states including the UAE.

The findings of the survey published in the Financial Times indicate that the biggest concern of young Arabs is the rising cost of living and unemployment. The rate of unemployment is said to be more than 30 per cent in many countries across the Middle East and North Africa, and the IMF says this year’s projected regional growth rate of 1.3 per cent is insufficient to create enough jobs for the 2.8 million youths joining the workforce every year.

Arab youth also expressed discontent with their government. A majority of the study’s respondents believe their governments should provide jobs, housing and energy subsidies. The Gulf states, which are trying desperately to wean their citizens off subsidies, contain the highest number of citizens with this attitude; 82 per cent said that their government should provide jobs for all citizens.

There were revealing attitudes towards religion and foreign affairs. Two-thirds said religion played too large a role in the Middle East, while half said religious values were holding the region back. Regarding foreign affairs, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were seen as extending their regional influence more than other Arab countries during the past five years.

According to the FT three-fifths of those interviewed said the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October last year would either have no impact or only temporarily tarnish Saudi Arabia’s international image.

Arab youth also expressed concern over worsening relations between Sunnis and Shias. Some 59 per cent believed relations between the two branches of Islam were worse. Social issues were also high on their list of worries including drug abuse and mental health.”

  2. FM: Iran won’t allow US to threaten Gulf security (memo, May 2, 2019)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190502-fm-iran-wont-allow-us-to-threaten-gulf-security/

“While Iran doesn’t want to escalate tensions further with Washington, it won’t allow the U.S. to threaten the security of the Persian Gulf, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Thursday, Anadolu Agency reports.

“Aggravating the situation between Tehran and Washington isn’t in Iran’s interest,” Zarif told Qatar’s Al Jazeera television channel on Thursday.

“But we want to keep the Persian Gulf safe and open to everyone, including Iran,” he said.

“As we have stated before, Iran won’t permit the US to threaten the Gulf,” the foreign minister added….”

  3. Moroccan Police Bust Irregular Migration Network, Arrest 5 in Nador (moroccoworldnews, May 2, 2019)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/05/272170/moroccan-police-migration-network-nador/

“Judicial authorities in the city of Nador, a coastal city on the Mediterranean in northeast Morocco, have arrested a ring of five people suspected of facilitating irregular migration.

The police made the arrests in and around Nador on Thursday, May 2, based on information from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

DGST said in a statement that it carried out the operation in coordination with Spanish authorities within the framework of Spanish-Moroccan cooperation on security measures to counter transnational crimes.

Police first arrested a driver who was wanted for facilitating irregular immigration. The driver was transporting five migrants from sub-Saharan Africa.

Later, police arrested another four suspects, who come from the city of Nador and Bni Oukil community.

According to the statement, the ring operates off the northern coast of Morocco.

The Moroccan authorities seized maritimes equipment, vehicles, 15 rubber boats, 12 boat engines, two cars, and electronic devices.

Police placed the suspects under custody for further investigation under the prosecutor’s office to determine whether the suspects have any possible links with networks outside the country.”

  4. In open letter to PM Imran, EU Parliamentarians seek end to ‘persecution of religious minorities’ (tribune, May 2, 2019)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1964123/1-eu-parliament-may-suspend-subsidies-trade-preferences-pakistan/

“Over 50 members of the European Parliament, in a written letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, expressed concerns and sought assurances that the persecution of religious minorities would cease immediately.

The European parliamentarians reminded the premier that oppressing minorities is a violation of the United National treaty on Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

It further explained and ICCPR Convention is part of the 27 core conventions set out as a prerequisite criteria for the EU’s GSP-Plus status of which Pakistan is a beneficiary.

The letter added that continued violation of the ICCPR Convention may compel EU to call on the European Commission to suspend all subsidies and trade preferences to Pakistan.

“Today’s Pakistan is far removed from being the country that its founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had envisaged. Jinnah had always insisted that Pakistan would be a Muslim majority State where people from all religions, whether Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Ahmadis or Shias, would be treated equally,” read the letter.

It said, “Over the last seven decades, successive governments in Pakistan have contributed to implementing discriminatory systems that have resulted in political, economic and social persecution of religious minorities, which have encouraged acts of violence against them by radical Islamic groups.”

The letter cited the case of Asia Bibi, the Christian woman who was sentenced to death row on blasphemy charges but was acquitted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2018.

The EU Parliament members urged Pakistan to take measures to dismantle the structures (constitutional and institutional) that resulted in the targeting of religious minorities in the country.”

  5. Foreign elements inciting tribal youth against state: PM Imran (tribune, May 2, 2019)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1963980/1-pm-imran-performs-groundbreaking-ceremony-mohmand-dam/

“Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that each province should give up 3% of their share from the federal divisible pool for the development of the erstwhile tribal areas as foreign elements were inciting the youth there to violence.

“I have seen a foreign-funded conspiracy is underway to provoke the youth in tribal districts,” PM Imran said while performing the groundbreaking of Mohmand Dam in the Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

He said the youth could be molded in any direction if their deprivation and marginalisation did not end. “Hence, it is upon us to support them…,” he said.

The premier reiterated his government’s resolve to help the nation overcome water scarcity. “A water crisis persists across the country because dams weren’t constructed,” he said.

The prime minister called out former rulers for not showing commitment towards the cause…”

  6. European Elections: “The Battle for Europe has Begun”

    by Soeren Kern
    May 2, 2019 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14168/european-elections-prague

The leaders of several European nationalist parties campaigned in Prague on April 25, ahead of the European Parliament elections set for May 23-26.

The rally was sponsored by the Movement for a Europe of Nations and Freedom (MENF), a pan-European alliance of nine nationalist parties dedicated to stopping mass migration and recovering national sovereignty from the European Union.

The Prague event was organized by the president of the Czech Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD), Tomio Okamura, who was joined by Dutch Freedom Party (PVV) leader Geert Wilders, French National Rally (RN) leader Marine Le Pen, the President of Movement for a Europe of Nations and Freedom (MENF), Gerolf Annemans, and British MEP Janice Atkinson, who is also Vice Chair of the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) political group in the European Parliament. Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, leader of the anti-mass migration League party, sent a video message. They spoke to a crowd in Prague’s downtown Wenceslas Square. Following are some excerpts of the keynote speeches:

(Richard: He is right, the battle for Europe has begun. This is the political side of the battle, the Kinetic side of the battle is also starting in France, we will have to wait to see how fast it will spread.

Now is the time for all to take a stand, do a gut check and decide if you are going to openly fight for your nations, your culture and your families.)

    • The European Parliament has no power.
This pre-election hoopla seems like a farce, a pretense of democracy where there is none.

  7. ‘Western media painting darker picture of Muslims’ (tribune, May 2, 2019)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1963756/1-western-media-painting-darker-picture-muslims/

“Through newspapers, channels, films, cartoons and even video games, the western media has been using various methods and tactics to paint a darker picture of Muslims globally.

This was stated by British television presenter and author of ‘Finding Peace in The Holy Land’ Lauren Booth while giving a talk on ‘Islam and the West: Bridging the Gaps’ at Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). Sister-in-law to former British prime minister Tony Blair, Booth is one of the most high-profile converts to Islam in the West.

During her talk, she stated that persistent negative portrayal of Muslims in the Western media was igniting hatred and spreading Islamophobia, which is making lives for Muslims living in Western societies difficult, even forcing them to train their children self-defence techniques in the face of constant threats.

She, however, was of the firm belief that the real job of Muslims was to hold onto their faith and not to lose it in the face of violence.

Booth also considered the frequently-used term ‘clash of civilization’ — coined by Samuel Huntington — as highly inappropriate. She maintained that Islam never fostered the objective of inducing a clash amongst civilizations but to alleviate and upgrade them to an improved level.

Contrary to the much-propagated narrative, she suggested that religion does not hold back modernization, instead, it rekindles it.

Booth shed light on the various methods and tactics of Western media rhetoric against Muslims whereby all mediums were used as tools to spread hate-filled propaganda.

Citing cases where the Western media had negatively framed Muslims, Booth said that the media morphed reality altogether to give a completely contradicting view. This way, she said, the common people in the West were being deprived of basic knowledge and comprehension of Islam.

Instead, a false image of the religion is consistently being sold to them by the people with an agenda who have mastered the art of persuasive storytelling.

Booth presented many examples to back her arguments including an interview of Palestinian children who were filmed standing by the rubble of their destroyed house and expressing their desire to become doctors, teachers and psychotherapist to help their communities.

The interview, however, was later morphed, she claimed, and posed a starkly contrasting question in the headline ‘Which of these children are to be doctors and which ones to become terrorists?’.

“None of the children had spoken anything about terrorism, extremism or revenge during their talk,” she stated.

The television presenter further pointed to some articles which had been published in mainstream magazines and newspapers in the West with one author quoting ‘I am an Islamophobic and I am proud of it’, while another stating “there is a need that Muslims suffer until they get their house in order”.

Booth urged the Muslims around the world to prepare and have more people who were able to speak in public presenting Islam in its true light.

She also stressed on the need to equip Muslim children with the mental faculty to understand and cogently portray Islam as a positive and viable way of life for mankind.

Earlier, IPS Executive President Khalid Rahman was of the view that the divergences between the Islamic world and the West must be transformed into cooperation or at least a healthy competition, as failure to do so could pave the way for dire consequences and undesired outcomes.”

  8. Turkey neutralizes 180 YPG/PKK militants in April (hurriyetdailynews, May 2, 2019)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-neutralizes-180-ypg-pkk-militants-in-april-143099

“Turkish security forces in April neutralized 180 YPG/PKK militants in domestic and cross-border operations.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralize” in their statements to imply that the militant in question either surrendered or was killed or captured.

Counter-terrorism operations were conducted throughout the month by the Turkish Armed Forces as well as the country’s General Directorate of Security, Gendarmerie and National Intelligence Organization, according to information compiled by Anadolu Agency.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. The PYD is its Syrian branch.

Security forces arrested over 250 people over suspected links to the PKK in nationwide operations, while 40 of the suspects were remanded in custody.

Turkish jets also targeted and destroyed PKK weapon deployments, shelters, and ammunition depots in Qandil, Ava?in-Basyan, Metina, Sinat-Haftanin and Zap across northern Iraq.”

  9. ‘EU must act to end injustice against Turkish Cypriots’ (aa, May 2, 2019)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/-eu-must-act-to-end-injustice-against-turkish-cypriots-/1468072

“The Turkish Cypriot foreign minister on Thursday criticized EU’s decision to admit Greek Cyprus unilaterally into the union in 2004.

“It became clearer over the years that EU’s admission of Cyprus as a divided island into the union 15 years ago, without reaching a permanent solution in the island, was a wrong decision,” said Kudret Ozersay, who is also deputy prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in a statement.

“Turkish Cypriots have borne the brunt of this wrong decision,” he added.

He went on to say this shortsightedness made the solution of the Cyprus issue even more difficult.

Ozersay said the Greek Cypriots used their EU membership to delay all matters related to Turkish Cypriots.

“EU member countries should immediately take steps to put an end to this injustice suffered by the Turkish Cypriot people,” he added.

Ozersay also urged EU countries to take steps to fulfill the promises they made to the Turkish Cypriots 15 years ago.

In 1974, following a coup aiming at Cyprus’ annexation by Greece, Ankara had to intervene as a guarantor power. In 1983, the TRNC was founded.

The decades since have seen several attempts to resolve the dispute, all ending in failure. The latest one, held with the participation of the guarantor countries — Turkey, Greece, and the U.K. — ended in 2017 in Switzerland.

In 2004, in twin referendums, the plan of then-UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was accepted by Turkish Cypriots but rejected by the Greek Cypriots.

Talks have focused on a federal model, based on the political equality of the Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides, but Greek Cypriots’ rejection of such a solution, including the Annan plan, led to the emergence of other models.

In a recent report, current UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also said that “new ideas” may be needed for a settlement on the island.

Turkey blames Greek Cypriot intransigence for the talks’ failure, also faulting the European Union for admitting Cyprus as a divided island into the union in 2004 after Greek Cypriot voters rejected a peace deal.”

  10. Holiday Massacres of Christians: A New Fact of Life

Although the Islamic terrorist bombings that rocked Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday — killing more than 250 people, most in churches — have shocked many, spectacular terrorist attacks on Easter are far more common than supposed.

Jihadi logic is simple: not only do attacks on Christians during their greatest holidays make a symbolic point; but because churches are often packed then — especially Easter, or Resurrection Sunday — they also potentially offer the greatest harvest in casualties.

Therefore, on April 9, 2017 — Palm Sunday, which starts the holy week of Easter — two Christian churches in Egypt were bombed during mass; at least 50 worshippers were murdered and 130 wounded (graphic images/video of aftermath here). Two days later, another terror attack, targeting a Coptic Christian monastery, was thwarted. On April 12, 2015, Easter Sunday, two explosions targeting two separate churches also took place in Egypt. Although no casualties were reported, large numbers could have resulted.

On Easter Sunday 2016, in Pakistan, an Islamic suicide bombing took place near the children’s rides in a public park, where Christians were known to be celebrating and congregating. At least 74 people — mostly women and children — were killed and nearly 400 wounded. A similar massacre was in store for Pakistan in 2017, as authorities foiled a “major terrorist attack” targeting Christians on Easter.

“Turkey’s highest court on Thursday ruled that the authorities had violated the human rights of two journalists critical of President Tayyip Erdogan following an attempted coup in 2016.

The Constitutional Court said the right to freedom of expression, freedom and personal security of journalists Kadri Gursel and Murak Aksoy had been violated, according to a report by the Anadolu news agency.

At the same time, the court rejected the appeals of four other journalists…”

Carl Benjamin is just the latest victim of media lynching. George Zimmerman’s Crucifixion-by-Editor at NBC even had its predecessor AT THE SELFSAME NBC IN 1992!, no less. Their fake exploding “GM sidesaddle gas tank” fabrication being one of the prototypical news hoaxes of its kind until …

Rathergate! A supposed heir to “The Most Trusted Man in America”, ends up setting the bar for failing miserably at attempting to throw the 2004 presidential election with a word-processed document from 1972. This, at a time when the Texas Air National Guard was still filling out all forms using large crayons. Dan’s was a record for the ages … until 2016, that is.

It’s almost like Barry Bonds “following” in the footsteps of his Godfather, Willie Mays. The only difference being that, out of the all of them, Mays was the only consummate professional who stuck to his game and mastered it.

It must be supposed that, with Avi Yemini coming off the injured list, it was time to hurl another beanball at whatever hapless sod was on deck at the time.

So, the jaw drops without too much creaking at this latest journalistic abortion. Fuck knows that it’s perfectly timed to ruin Benjamin’s voter turnout long before his solicitor can get a legal brief typed, inked or filed in court.

WHAT THIS DOES point to is a very significant shift in media agenda.

While Culturally Marxist all along—a perspective into which fits its early phase of anti-Capitalist corporate bashing, particularly against a large employer of White middle class workers—something rather dramatic happened over that intervening quarter-century.

THE USA CHANGED HANDS. While the republic’s electorate slept through Baywatch reruns, America underwent Economic Capture by a loosely knit cabal of Tranzi Globalists. Few things better explain this latest and most jaundiced of saffron Yellow Journalism.

There isn’t a Communist yet aborted born who doesn’t know down deep that they can’t compete in the marketplace of ideas. It’s why markets are one of the very first things that they expropriate.

Their own “principles” being indefensible, they project that outwards in a flurry of ad hominem attacks that seek to slay the messenger whose dreaded dispatch, once delivered, cannot be un-heard.

Since Cultural Marxists are unable to survive in the marketplace of ideas, inevitably, their political power “comes from the barrel of a gun”. Throughout the Western world, Antifa’s Fascist thuggery serves up vivid proof of how totally un-charismatic this new Millennia’s collectivism has turned out to be.

Time and again, Socialist governments have—during their routine slide into Communism—maintained that , “This time, we’ll do it right!” After some 100 MILLION CORPSES and who-the-fuck-knows how many more dead babies, if all that the planet’s premier Marxist (with “Chinese characteristics”) con-game has achieved is the unprecedented rape of a most venerated culture, who are we ignorant round-eye gweilo foreign devils to say otherwise?

Here’s hoping that Benjamin keeps it up with his admirably mulish refusal to retract a single fucking word he’s said. More power to him as he kicks over the UK aristocracy’s anthill.

[…]In its most detailed account yet, Ukraine’s embassy in Washington says a Democratic National Committee insider during the 2016 election solicited dirt on Donald Trump’s campaign chairman and even tried to enlist the country’s president to help.

[…]The fresh statement comes several months after a Ukrainian court ruled that the country’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), closely aligned with the U.S. embassy in Kiev, and a parliamentarian named Serhiy Leshchenko wrongly interfered in the 2016 American election by releasing documents related to Manafort.

The acknowledgement by Kiev’s embassy, plus newly released testimony, suggests the Ukrainian efforts to influence the U.S. election had some intersections in Washington as well.

Nellie Ohr, wife of senior U.S. Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, acknowledged in congressional testimony that, while working for the Clinton-hired research firm Fusion GPS, she researched Trump and Manafort’s ties to Russia and learned Leshchenko, the Ukrainian lawmaker, was providing dirt to Fusion.

[…]the Obama White House invited Ukrainian law enforcement officials to a meeting in January 2016 as Trump rose in the polls on his improbable path to the presidency. The meeting led to U.S. requests to the Ukrainians to help investigate Manafort, setting in motion a series of events that led to the Ukrainians leaking the documents about Manafort in May 2016.

[…]Though Chaly and Telizhenko disagree on what Ukraine did after it got Chalupa’s request, they confirm that a paid contractor of the DNC solicited their government’s help to find dirt on Trump that could sway the 2016 election.

For a Democratic Party that spent more than two years building the now-disproven theory that Trump colluded with Russia to hijack the 2016 election, the tale of the Ukrainian embassy in Washington feels just like a speeding political boomerang.
