Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Left-wing employees at Google are threatening the employment of their colleagues amid a panic about frequent leaks revealing political bias in the company’s products and working atmosphere.
Leaked internal discussion threads from Google provided exclusively to Breitbart News show left-wing Google employees reporting one of their colleagues for alleged “leaks,” while worrying about the legal implications of cracking down on a conservative at the company over his public complaints about working conditions.

The discussion took place last week on the “transparency and ethics” discussion group, from which the alleged leaker had recently been ejected – a failed attempt to stem the tide of leaks showing political bias at the tech giant.

Announcing the ejection of the alleged leaker, a Google employee wrote that vigilance about leaks was “especially important in light of the recent leaks that named our friends and colleagues in Breitbart and the Daily Caller.”

“If you have any knowledge of someone else who definitely leaked from THIS group, be sure to report it at go/stop-leaks,” wrote another Google software developer, referring to an internal messaging system for reporting potential leaks.

“I noticed a certain someone who leaked from this group still works here. Is that the new norm? Is there something specific that makes his leak okay? What’s up with all this” wrote a different employee.

  2. MEMRI –Egyptian Researcher: Quranic Story of Al-Aqsa Mosque Meant to Prove Miraculous Nature of the Quran

Ibrahim Issa conducted an interview with Egyptian researcher Ahmed Saad Zayed, which aired on March 31, 2019.

In the interview Zayed said that at the time of Muhammad’s “night journey” there was no Al-Aqsa Mosque at the site of the Dome of the Rock, it was a garbage dump.

The story was conjured up in order to prove to the non-Arabic speaking Muslims, who could not read the Quran in its original language, that the Quran is miraculous.

Zayed also said that the Quranic portrayal of Paradise was embellished to include extremely erotic details.

Ibrahim Issa interjected that the description of Paradise refers only to men and “women feel that paradise for them is going to be torture.”

He added: “They are miserable – both in this life and in the afterlife.”

The interview was aired on the American Al-Hurra TV.

Appearing Monday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city’s own Green New Deal will “ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers,” warning property owners will face massive fines unless buildings are retrofitted to reduce emissions.

A partial transcript is as follows

JOE SCARBOROUGH: So talk about New York’s Green New Deal. Obviously, the one presented in Congress has actually caused a rift among Democrats. What are you doing in New York City? How does that provide a roadmap for Democrats and Independents and some progressive, forward-thinking Republicans nationwide?

BILL DE BLASIO: We are actually making the Green New Deal come alive here in New York City. So, we have our own Green New Deal, three very basic ideas. One, the biggest source of emissions in New York City is buildings. We are putting clear, strong mandates. The first of any major city on the Earth to say to building owners, “you got to clean up your act, you got to retrofit, you got to save energy.” If you don’t do it by 2030 there will be serious fines, as high as $1 million or more for the biggest buildings.

  5. MEMRI –Gaza Cleric Mahmoud Al-Hasanat Rebukes Arab Leaders Who “Whine” about Notre-Dame Cathedral

In a Friday sermon delivered in Gaza on April 19, 2019, Mahmoud Al-Hasanat, an Islamic cleric, referred to the fire in the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Al-Hasanat rebuked Arab leaders for shedding tears for the French cathedral and collecting funds to rebuild it while they remained silent when mosques in Syria and Gaza were burned down and destroyed.

Al-Hasanat said that thousands of people are being burned in Syria today, but Arab leaders do not shed tears for them.

“Our blood is cheap, but the blood of the French and Parisians is expensive.”

Al-Hasanat added that a Crusade against Islam was once declared from this very cathedral.

“The heads of Muslims were chopped off and people were killed in the streets, after war [against Islam] had been declared in this cathedral.”

He concluded by saying: “This is their principle: Killing an animal in the jungle is an unforgivable crime, but killing an entire Muslim people is a matter open for debate.”

  6. The European Union has announced it will be massively increasing the number of agents at its Frontex border agency, from 1,500 today to around 10,000 by the year 2027.
The new policy was adopted by MEPs earlier this week and will see the border agency gradually increase personnel to monitor the political bloc’s common external border, though not all countries within the bloc are pleased with the move, RTS reports.

The main opposition to the new plan was voiced by two of the border states within the EU, Greece and Italy, who argued that the move could be an attempt by the EU to interfere in their domestic affairs.

European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos attempted to ease the worries of the two nations, saying, “there is not a shadow of a doubt, there can be no intervention by the agency without the express consent of the Member States concerned or third countries concerned.”

The expansion of Frontex will also see the agency given a huge budget increase, which will allow it to deploy agents beyond the European Union and to invest in its own ships and aeroplanes.

  7. An Eritrean migrant convicted of three separate crimes in Sweden, including robbery and attempted rape, will face no prison time or deportation, according to local media.

In the span of three weeks during March, 2018, the man carried out a robbery, an attempted rape, and an assault on Swedish victims ranging from 13 to 17-years-old.

“The African was officially 18-years-old when he committed the three serious crimes in the same month,” Fria Tider reports. “He also lacks Swedish citizenship and has his family in Eritrea.”

“All persons who have fallen victim to the man’s deeds are Swedes.”

The Eritrean violently attacked a 17-year-old girl at a party, tearing her clothes during a sexual assault, and stealing her cell phone when she tried to phone for help.

A left-wing journalist reacted to the horrific Islamic terror attacks in Sri Lanka which killed over 200 people by blaming “Western Christian Missionaries”.

  9. ZAGREB, April 21, 2019 – The person of African descent who disrupted Mass in St Peter’s Church in the Croatian Catholic parish in Munich on Saturday evening by shouting “Allahu Akbar” and throwing stones, is mentally ill and not connected with terrorism, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs said on Sunday.

The man was shouting and throwing stones at the congregation and around the church, and the people fled in panic. Twenty-five Croatian nationals were slightly injured in the confusion, the ministry told Hina, adding that police said that the man did not use firecrackers as some media reported.

  10. PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS’S ARRANGEMENT WITH OUTSIDE CHARITY VIOLATES HOUSE RULES, EXPERTS SAY. PUNISHMENT IS UNLIKELY
    9:00 PM 04/21/2019 | INVESTIGATIVE GROUP
    Andrew Kerr | Investigative Reporter

Support the Congressional Progressive Caucus receives from an outside charity dedicated to advancing the caucus’s legislative objectives violates House rules, experts told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and 2020 presidential frontrunner Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are all members of the Progressive Caucus.
Progressive Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin said in February that he helped build the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (CPCC), a dark money charity that funds staffers to work on progressive policy issues and fellows to work in caucus members’ offices.
House progressives are violating congressional rules by using a dark money group to help accomplish their caucus’s legislative goals, experts told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The leaders of the 97-member Congressional Progressive Caucus could face a formal censure or reprimand for using outside funds and services from the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (CPCC), a nonprofit group, according to the experts. House rules prohibit congressional caucuses from accepting such support from outside organizations.

But although the progressive caucus’s relationship with the outside charity group “seems like a clear violation of the rule,” there likely won’t be any consequences anytime soon, Acton Institute editor Joe Carter, who has researched congressional caucuses, told TheDCNF.

“Article 1, section 5, clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution says that, ‘Each House may … punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member,’” Carter said. “Based on previous history, the most severe punishment would likely be censure or reprimand of the leaders” of the progressive caucus.

I was very encouraged to see that Rightist ideas are spreading to the Iberian Peninsula, a region that has been a Leftist bulwark since the mid-1970s.

(Reuters) – Church-goers tackled a woman who held a 10-month-old baby, waved a gun and threatened to blow up the building at an Easter Sunday service in San Diego, leading to her arrest, police said.

The handgun was not loaded, and a search conducted by a bomb-sniffing dog found no explosives, police said.

  14. A list recently released by the Centre for Violent Extremism (CVE) disclosed that 41 of Sweden’s 290 municipalities are set to be forced to welcome back scores of returning ISIS members.

According to the Swedish broadcasting company SVT, the Centre for Violent Extremism invited officials from the 41 municipalities to an event which aims to teach them about returning terrorists in order to “provide support to the municipalities that have or may be able to receive returning children and adults from areas previously controlled by the Islamic state.”

A senior advisor at CVE by the name of Anders Kretz stated that the information they have on ISIS members who were currently en route to Sweden from former Islamic State territories in the Middle East or who had already made their way back to Sweden had been given to them from Swedish security forces, Säpo.

Press officer for Säpo, Karl Melin, confirmed that they were indeed working alongside the CVE on this matter, stating, “The information goes on to all those who are involved in one way or another for the best way to work with the issue.”

  15. The Terrorist Caucus in the House
Ilhan Omar has exposed the greatest liability America faces in the global terror war.
    April 22, 2019
    David Horowitz

Representative Ilhan Omar is a Minnesota Democrat who has been in Congress four months and, courtesy of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she has privileged access to classified American secrets. Omar recently caused a stir – one of many that have made her a focus of national attention – by describing the attack on America on 9/11, as an attack on Muslims. The 9/11 attack – the worst by foreigners on American soil since the British burned the White House in 1814 – was in fact the work of Islamic supremacists engaged in a global jihad or “holy war.” This war had been unilaterally declared on America – “the land of Jews and Crusaders” – by Osama bin Laden and his terrorist army, al-Qaeda three years earlier.

Omar’s reference to the tragedy that befell Americans in September 2001 was revealing in itself. She prefaced it by complaining that Muslims in America were “second class citizens” who were denied the civil liberties afforded to other ethnic and religious groups. This was one of many lies in her brief comments. Then she invoked the massacre of 50 Muslims at worship by a deranged individual in New Zealand, while failing to mention the recent Muslim massacre of Filipino Christians at worship or the hundreds of attacks by Muslims on other religions since the beginning of the year.[1] Then she referred to the 9/11 atrocity not as an “attack” but as a non-descript event whose real significance was that it led to the creation of CAIR – the Council on American Islamic Relations – which presents itself as a Muslim civil liberties organization, and on whose platform she was speaking.

“A Wisconsin mother-of-seven has agreed to plead guilty to trying to plan ISIS terror attacks.

Waheba Issa Dais, 45, has agreed to plead guilty to one count of providing material to support a terrorist group in exchange for another being dropped.

The Israeli native, who called herself a ‘housewife’ on her visa application to the US, plotted attacks such as poisoning a reservoir with Ricin.

She was arrested last year after trying to use social media to recruit other terrorists.

She hacked other people’s accounts and also operated her own.

Prosecutors say she tried to explain to them how to use explosives and poisons.

Dais was born in Jerusalem but came to the US with her husband in 1992. She settled in Chicago but has since moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She and her husband divorced in 2003. She stayed in the US and wrote in her application that she was fluent in Arabic and English.

Prosecutors first reported that she had two children who were both minors.

On Monday, as the plea deal was announced, it was revealed that she is in fact a mother-of-seven.

In her attempts to unleash terror on the group’s behalf, she discussed bombing street festivals as well as poisoning government water supplies.

    She was arrested in June.

Prosecutors have not yet revealed what her prison sentence will be. She was facing 20 years behind bars…”

  19. The Burning of Notre Dame and the Destruction of Christian Europe

    by Guy Millière

The fire that destroyed much of the Notre Dame Cathedral in the heart of Paris is a tragedy that is irreparable. Even if the cathedral is rebuilt, it will never be what it was before. Stained glass windows and major architectural elements have been severely damaged and the oak frame totally destroyed. The spire that rose from the cathedral was a unique piece of art. It was drawn by the architect who restored the edifice in the nineteenth century, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, who had based his work on 12th century documents.

In addition to the fire, the water needed to extinguish the flames penetrated the limestone of the walls and façade, and weakened them, making them brittle. The roof is non-existent: the nave, the transept and the choir now lie in open air, vulnerable to bad weather. They cannot even be protected until the structure has been examined thoroughly, a task that will take weeks. Three major elements of the structure (the north transept pinion, the pinion located between the two towers and the vault) are also on the verge of collapse.

Notre Dame is more than 800 years old. It survived the turbulence of the Middle Ages, the Reign of Terror of the French Revolution, two World Wars and the Nazi occupation of Paris. It did not survive what France is becoming in the 21st century.

    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/563946/SAUDI-ARABIA/Saudi-Arabia-to-send-imams-to-lead-Taraweeh-in-35-countries

“Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Abdullatif Al-Asheikh has approved the delegation of 70 imams to lead Taraweeh (after Isha) and Tahajud (late night) prayers in 35 countries of the world during the holy month of Ramadan.

It has been the custom of the ministry to send imams to the other countries of the world during Ramadan to lead prayers and enlighten Muslims about their religion.

The minister said this was part of the Kingdom’s message to care for and support Muslims everywhere.

He said the imams would provide guidance to the Muslims, explain the true tenets of Islam to them and further enlighten them about the moderate approach of the faith in all matters.

“The imams have been picked up from the Shariah colleges. They are all well versed in the religion and have memorized the Qur’an,” he said.

“These young imams are good preachers who can clearly explain Islam to Muslims and can recite the holy book from memory,” he added.

Al-Asheikh has said the mosques are usually filled with worshippers during the month of Ramadan so it is a valuable opportunity for the imams to invest their time in providing them with guidance and enlightenment.

“The imams will spread the moderate message of Islam and foster ties between the Kingdom and the host countries,” he said.

The minister met on Monday with the imams and asked them to be good ambassadors for the Kingdom.

The ministry held a workshop for them to further enlighten them about the best means and methods of propagating Islam abroad. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the workshop.

Al-Asheikh also met on Sunday with a number of senior officials and discussed with them the ministry’s assignments during Ramadan as well as the Haj and Umrah seasons.”

“Kano, Nigeria: Ten people were killed and more than 30 injured when a policeman rammed his car into a group of children during an Easter procession in northeast Nigeria, before being killed himself by the angry crowd, witnesses and police sources told AFP Monday.

The deadly incident happened late Sunday when the off-duty policeman ploughed his car into a procession celebrating Easter in Gombe, state police spokeswoman Mary Mallum said.

“Ten people were killed, including the policeman and a paramilitary member who was with him,” Mallum said.

“We learnt the policeman and his friend who were not in uniform were attacked and killed by the angry crowd,” she said.

“Another 30 children were injured and are currently in hospital while the investigation is ongoing,” Mallum said.

According to witnesses at the scene contacted by AFP, the driver deliberately drove the car into the crowd following an altercation over the procession blocking the road.

“The driver of the car had a heated argument with the children before they made way for him to pass, only for him, in a fit of rage, to turn and drive into them,” said Isaac Kwadang, head of the Boys Brigade in Gombe.

“A total of 36 people have been intercepted trying to reach Britain from the European mainland in small boats. Officials warn that migrants are risking their lives by crossing the world’s busiest shipping lane.

Britain’s Border Force and coastguard intercepted three small boats carrying 36 migrants in the English Channel between France and Britain on Monday.

The border agency said it responded to three separate incidents of vessels crossing the world’s busiest shipping lane to reach the British coast.

The first involved 11 men who said they were Iranian — along with an Iraqi — whose craft was intercepted in the early hours of the morning. The men were taken to the English port town of Dover for medical care and to be interviewed.

Later in the day, 15 Iraqi men, women and children were found aboard a second boat which was intercepted by a coastguard vessel before being taken to Dungeness, where the migrants were transferred to immigration officials.

The third involved nine men and one woman from Iran, who were taken to Dover.

Over the past six months, Britain has seen a spike in the number of migrants attempting to cross the English Channel.

Almost 500 people, including dozens of children, have made the journey in small boats since early November.

In December, the British government declared the increase a “major incident.”…”

  32. Saudi arrests 13 linked to thwarted ISIL attack: State media

Security forces capture Saudi nationals allegedly connected with foiled assault on state security building.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested 13 individuals in connection with a foiled attack by fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) group on a state security building north of the capital, Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The arrests on Monday took place during a dawn raid, the SPA reported, citing a spokesman for the State Security Service. All 13 individuals that were arrested are Saudi nationals, according to the SPA.

The arrests came a day after security forces said they had thwarted the planned assault on the facility in Zulfi, a small city about 250 kilometres northwest of Riyadh. Three policemen were wounded in a gun battle while defending the building, the SPA reported.

ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack through its Amaq website.

Security forces said they killed four alleged ISIL fighters who were behind the operation and later raided a nearby rest-house they said the attackers had rented for use as a bomb factory.

They seized explosive vests, homemade bombs, Kalashnikov rifles and ISIL publications from the building, SPA reported.

Deadly bombings and shootings have been carried out by ISIL against security forces and minority Shia Muslims in Saudi Arabia.

ISIL and al-Qaeda have for years criticised the leadership of the Western-allied kingdom, the world’s top oil exporter, accusing it of deviating from their strict interpretation of Islam and advancing the interests of their United States enemies. Saudi authorities crushed an al-Qaeda uprising over a decade ago.

Daesh claim failed terrorist attack on interior ministry building north of Riyadh

RIYADH: Four heavily armed attackers were killed in a failed terrorist attack claimed by Daesh on an Interior Ministry building in Zulfi, north of Riyadh on Sunday.

The attack happened at 9:49 a.m. on Sunday morning at Zulfi’s General Directorate of Investigations Center, 260 kilometers northwest of Riyadh, Al Arabiya TV reported.

Initial reports said that four masked and heavily armed attackers, one aged about 40 and three others aged between 18 to 20 years old, were killed by security forces as they tried to crash their car through the main entrance of the compound.

Three of the attackers died during the exchange of fire with the security forces. The fourth man managed to escape and hid in a neighborhood nearby until he was killed by pursuing security officers. The attackers were carrying pistols, machine guns and Molotov cocktails, officials said.

The gunmen were all reported to be Saudi nationals, although the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted officials as saying their identities were still being determined.

Daesh said in a statement by its propaganda arm Amaq that the attack on the base had been carried out by a group of its militants.

A spokesperson from the Kingdom’s Presidency of State Security said that three government security personnel suffered minor injuries during the exchange of fire with the assailants.

“The security authorities in the Presidency managed to thwart the terrorist act targeting the center of investigations … and dealt with them as required by the situation,” the spokesman was quoted by SPA as saying.

Special security personnel said they were still assessing the explosive materials that the terrorists had in their possession, the spokesperson said.

Besides their weapons, the terrorists were also carrying ropes, which they intended to use to tie up hostages from the interrogation building.

Hamood Al-Ziyadi, researcher on extremist groups, told Al Arabiya that it was obvious the terrorists were not lone wolves, but were part of a terrorist organization because “it seemed like they had previous training and perhaps even fought abroad or trained in Saudi Arabia with terrorist groups, because of their experience.”

He commended the Saudi Forces in their handling of the situation: “We have security vigilance that expects the unexpected.”

The General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) condemned the terrorist attack on Zulfi.

Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimen, OIC secretary-general, affirmed the OIC’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of terrorism aimed at destabilizing its security and stability, and it supported the country in its measures to counter the terrorist organizations and its schemes to preserve the safety of its citizens.

He praised the security men who foiled the attack and pointed out that those who planned and supported it were carrying out a desperate plan to undermine security in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Othaimen renewed the organization’s position condemning all acts of terrorism.

The Kingdom of Bahrain also condemned the actions of the suspects in the terrorist attack on Sunday, the country’s news agency said. The investigation is continuing.
