Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Trump’s army: More than 300 asylum seekers surrender to armed militia of ‘New Mexico residents, veterans and ex-cops’, after crossing the US border

Hundreds of asylum seekers surrendered to an armed militia of New Mexico citizens last night, after trying to cross the U.S. border.

A group of 300 men, women and children gave themselves up to the ‘United Constitutional Patriots’, a gang of vigilantes who claim to be made up of veterans and former police officers, who then handed them over to border officials.

Video recorded by one of the militia, Jim Benvie, who has been camping out on the New Mexico-Chihuahua border for two months, shows the asylum seekers walking on a dirt road having crossed through a fence gap in Sundland Park, New Mexico.

The DOJ and FBI Influence of Dana Boente…
Posted on April 17, 2019 by sundance
In 2015 the DOJ-OIG (office of inspector general) requested oversight of the DOJ National Security Division. It was Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates who responded with a lengthy 58 page legal explanation saying, essentially, ‘nope – not allowed.’ (PDF HERE) All of the DOJ is subject to oversight, except the DOJ-NSD.

When John Carlin resigned as Asst. Attorney General in charge of the DOJ National Security Division in October 2016 he was replaced by Principal Deputy Asst. Attorney General and Chief of Staff, Mary McCord. After President Trump took office on January 20th, 2017, Sally Yates was Acting AG and Mary McCord was in charge of the DOJ-NSD.

Yates and McCord were the two Main Justice officials who then engaged with White House Counsel Don McGahn on January 26th, 2017, regarding the General Flynn FBI interview conducted on January 24th. The Trump-Russia Collusion Conspiracy was the headline.

  3. Prosecutors have asked to present evidence in the NXIVM sex cult racketeering trial showing that NXIVM leaders including Nancy Salzman and Clare Bronfman illegally bundled money for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign by compelling members to donate to Clinton and then reimbursing the members. (READ: Ex-NXIVM Employees: Kirsten Gillibrand’s Father and Stepmother, Second Cousins, Were Very Active In The Cult, Acted As Broker To Democrat Politicians).

“I was there, and I knew that the contributions were made by more than a dozen NXIVM members to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign,” former NXIVM employee Frank Parlato tells Big League Politics, confirming that the court documents refer to Clinton’s campaign. 4. A UK-based TV station has been fined £75,000 by Ofcom after broadcasting hate speech about the Ahmadi community, amid growing fears that the religious group is facing persecution.

Channel 44, an Urdu-language current affairs satellite channel, broadcast two episodes of a discussion programme featuring a guest who “made repeated, serious and unsubstantiated allegations about members of the Ahmadiyya community”, the broadcasting watchdog said.

The guest, who appeared on the Point of View show, which was made in Pakistan, claimed Ahmadi people had “committed acts of murder, terrorism and treason as well as undertaking political assassinations”.

The same guest also claimed the Ahmadi community, which has its roots in northern India in the late 19th century, was favoured in Pakistan at the expense of orthodox Muslims.

The ruling comes during ongoing concern over discrimination against the Ahmadiyya movement, a minority sect of Islam that faces persecution and violence in Pakistan and Indonesia as well as hostility from some orthodox Muslims in Britain.

Jason Kenney and his United Conservatives channelled the angst of an angry electorate to soar to a majority government in Alberta’s election Tuesday and relegate Rachel Notley’s NDP to the history books as a one-and-done government.

The UCP, formed two years ago by a merger of the Progressive Conservative and Wildrose parties, held its rural and Calgary seats and took back many of the breakthrough NDP wins in those regions in 2015.

“What a great day for the province of Alberta,” Kenney told cheering supporters after riding into a jammed event centre at Calgary’s Stampede Grounds in a blue pickup truck.

“Today our great province has sent a message to Canada and the world that Alberta is open for business.”

Early on his his speech, the premier-designate delivered a warning to environmentalists, accusing them of being funded by foreign interests who are trying to shut down the Alberta oil and gas industry. He pledged to launch a public inquiry into their activities, singling out several charitable organizations including the David Suzuki Foundation and the Tides Foundation, prompting a roar of applause from supporters in Calgary.

  6. Migrant camps overflow as Mexico cracks down after Trump threats
    Delphine Schrank
    8 MIN READ

MAPASTEPEC, Mexico (Reuters) – Amid pressure from Washington, Mexico is backpedaling on promises of better treatment for Central American migrants, leaving hundreds stranded in unsanitary camps near its southern border and allegations of irregular detentions.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador promised more humane treatment for Central American migrants when he took office in December. His left-leaning government issued thousands of year-long humanitarian visas in January, giving migrants legal access to jobs and the right to travel to the United States.

However, caught off guard by a surge in arrivals, Lopez Obrador’s administration is resorting to old tactics based on tough law enforcement.

Mexico has halted the liberal visa policy and ramped up detentions of migrants heading north, government data shows, following criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump of a jump in the number of Central American asylum seekers reaching the U.S. border in February.

  7. Security Video Leads to Arrest In Hit-And-Run that Injured 2 Boys
    Dillon Thomas, KCNC-TV, April 16, 2019

An Aurora man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run collision which took place on April 5. Oghaleoghene Atuno, 21, was arrested on suspicion of using his vehicle to run over two boys, ages 11 and 12.

One of the boys hurt in the hit-and-run.

One boy was so badly injured, his skull was fractured.

Law enforcement said security footage from the area showed Atuno circling the cul-de-sac several times before allegedly hitting the boys. The boys were walking on the sidewalk.

State Patrol used surveillance video from homes and schools to identify the vehicle in the incident. After the image was released to the public, someone reported a similar vehicle at an apartment complex.

The vehicle matched the description, and belonged to Atuno’s mother, an arrest affidavit said.

  8. Pakistan watchdog decries forced conversions, curbs on media
BY MUNIR AHMED ASSOCIATED PRESS APRIL 15, 2019 08:06 AM
    ISLAMABAD

An independent rights watchdog on Monday raised concerns about incidents in Pakistan of forced conversions and marriages of girls from the country’s minority Hindu and Christian community to Muslim men.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan in it annual report said lawmakers need to pass effective legislation to end the practice — the extent of which remains unclear. It said around 1,000 cases of forced conversion of Hindu and Christian girls were reported just in the southern Sindh province last year. In some cases, it said the girls were recovered on court orders, but the situation in general remained appalling.

“Unfortunately, no authentic data is available on forced conversions” and marriages in Pakistan, the report said.

Ghazi Salahuddin, a senior member of the watchdog, said Pakistani media have also faced “unprecedented curbs” in the previous year. However, he did not answer a direct question when asked whether the army was behind imposing such curbs on the press.

Members of a Heron Road Buddhist community say they are fearful after a statue of the Buddha was vandalized for the third time.

A surveillance camera caught a vandal hitting the statue with a piece of wood early Wednesday morning, the monastery’s chief incumbent monk Rev. Nugegalayaye Jinananda Thero said.

On the wood was written the First Commandment from the Bible: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Police confirmed they were called to a mischief complaint at the monastery Wednesday.

“This is the third time and the whole Buddhist community is threatened by this — it’s not only vandalizing a statue,” Jinananda Thero said.

  22. EU parliament votes to fine internet firms for not removing extremist content quickly (reuters, Apr 17, 2019)
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-eu-parliament-extremist-content/eu-parliament-votes-to-fine-internet-firms-for-not-removing-extremist-content-quickly-idUSKCN1RT2CF

“The European parliament voted on Wednesday to fine firms like Facebook, Google and Twitter up to 4 percent of their turnover if they persistently fail to remove extremist content within one hour of being asked to do so by authorities.

The measures have been brought into sharper focus since the live streaming on one of Facebook’s platforms of a lone gunman killing 50 people at two New Zealand mosques in March.

The parliament voted 308 to 204 with 70 abstentions to back the proposal to tackle the misuse of internet hosting services for “terrorist purposes” .

“Companies that systematically and persistently fail to abide by the law may be sanctioned with up to 4 percent of their global turnover,” it said.

A new European Parliament, to be elected on May 23-26, will finalize the text of the law in negotiations with the European Commission and representatives of EU governments, a process likely to take many months.

“There is clearly a problem with terrorist material circulating unchecked on the internet for too long,” said Daniel Dalton, the parliament’s rapporteur for the proposal.

“This propaganda can be linked to actual terrorist incidents and national authorities must be able to act decisively. Any new legislation must be practical and proportionate if we are to safeguard free speech,” he said.

“It …absolutely cannot lead to a general monitoring of content by the back door.”

EU officials moved to regulate because they believe internet companies are not doing enough under voluntary measures, even though the first hour is the most vital to stemming the viral spread of online content.

Facebook said it removed 1.5 million videos containing footage of the New Zealand attack in the first 24 hours after the shootings.

Worries the new rules are lacking and could be misused have been expressed by three U.N. special rapporteurs for human rights and by the EU’s own rights watchdog.

Companies rely on a mix of automated tools and human moderators to spot and delete extremist content. However, when illegal content is taken down from one platform, it often crops up on another, straining authorities’ ability to police the web.

In response to industry concerns that smaller platforms do not have the same resources to comply as speedily with tougher EU rules, lawmakers said authorities should take into account the size and revenue of companies concerned.

Draft measures call on the bloc’s national governments to put in place the tools to identify extremist content and an appeals procedure. The one-hour rule would apply from the point of notification by national authorities.

Brussels has been at the forefront of a push by regulators worldwide to force tech companies to take greater responsibility for content on their sites.”

  23. How Qatar funds Muslim Brotherhood expansion in Europe (gulfnews, Apr 17, 2019)
    https://gulfnews.com/world/gulf/qatar/how-qatar-funds-muslim-brotherhood-expansion-in-europe-1.63386835

“Beirut: Ninety per cent of Qatari funds to the EU were channeled to Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated projects, two French authors have confirmed, supporting claims made since the summer of 2017 by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

One of the authors—prominent investigative journalist George Malbrunot—spoke to Gulf News about his new book Qatar Papers: How the State Finances Islam in France and Europe.

It has been co-authored with his colleague Christian Chesnot, a ranking expert on the Arab World.

“This is not fantasy,” Malbrunot said in an exclusive interview.

“The evidence we published was based on bank transfers, cheques, and official letters. It is evidence that they simply cannot contest.”

A total of 140 projects spread in Europe—mainly mosques and Islamic centers—were directly funded by Qatar over the past eight years.
    – George Malbrunot, journalist

The two journalists started working on their 295-page book in late 2016, after receiving an information-packed USB from a whistleblower, filled with documents from database of the Qatar Foundation, headed by Shaikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Misned, and Qatar Charity, headed by a relative of her son, the Emir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani.

Much of the funding came from Qatar Charity, an NGO that was set up in 1992 originally to help orphans from the Afghan War, then expanded horizontally and vertically across the globe, with the lion’s share of its activities focused on Europe.

“A total of 140 projects spread in Europe—mainly mosques and Islamic centers—were directly funded by Qatar over the past eight years,” he said.

Their activities spread across territory from north of Norway to the coast of Normandy, France, totaling 90 million Euros.

“Ninety per cent of that activity was linked to Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organisations through a system that is very efficient, sophisticated — and legal,” he added.

“Much of the funding came from three sources: the Diwani Al Amiri, office of the former emir, Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Qatar Charity.”

“Qatar wants to buy influence in Europe,” explained Malbrunot, making use of its excessive wealth, which transformed it from a “country of fishermen” into a world influencer.

Ultimately, Doha would like to control and influence Islamic societies across the European continent, “a task previously handled by Morocco, Algeria, Turkey, or Saudi Arabia.”

    Stunning revelations
An ever-present thread in the book’s revelations are links to the Brotherhood—outlawed throughout most of the world for its links to global jihad and terrorism.

“One document shows that the Qatar Foundation pays Tarek Ramadan (grandson of the Brotherhood’s founder Hasan Al Banna) a monthly salary of 35,000 euros (Dh145,521).”

The amount was allocated to help Ramadan ward off accusations of rape and sexual misconduct, levied against him in November 2017.

They prompted him to leave his academic job as professor at the University of Oxford, relocating to Doha where he now teaches at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani University and chairs the Research Center of Islamic Legislation in Qatar.

Before his trial, Ramadan withdrew 590,000 euros from Qatari banks, allegedly for his defense team.

Research for the book took Mablrunot and Chesnot to Switzerland, the UK, Germany, Kosovo, France — and Qatar of course.

In the island of Jersey in the English canal, Qatar set up a mosque, “although there are no more than 400 people living there”.

In northern France, they donated hefty sums to the Ibn Rushd School in the city of Lille, and also to another private school in the southern city of Bordeaux.

They also financed 50 similar projects in Italy, and channeled 3.6 million euros to Switzerland between the years 2011-2014.

“They were used to fund the Muslim Cultural Complex of Lausanne, the Museum of Islamic Civilisation in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchâtel, and the Saladine Mosque in Bienne (canton of Bern).

“The Muslim Brotherhood philosophy is to encompass people’s lives from birth to death. All of the Qatar-financed projects tried to do just that, surrounding mosques with schools, swimming pools, restaurants, and even morgues.”

“When we spoke with people administering these centers, they would say: ‘We are not members of the Brotherhood. All of our funding is 100 per cent legal.”

“Yet, when we entered the libraries of these mosques and schools, we found the books of Shaikh Yousuf Al Qaradawi (the Doha-based Egyptian mentor of the Brotherhood). His books were everywhere, and so were those of Sayyid Qutob (one of the historic leaders of the Egyptian Brotherhood).”

    International pressure on Doha
“After years of (presidents) Sarkozy and Holland, Emanuel Macron said that he has had enough. When Emir Tamim called him to congratulate him on his election, the French President said: ‘I will keep the partnership with Qatar, but I don’t want financing of any future project without my knowledge.”

Qatar, he notes, came under immense pressure to change its behaviour after its standoff with GCC countries in mid-2017.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with the country on June 5, accusing it of backing the Muslim Brotherhood and promoting extremist ideology.

“In some cases, it complied, but in others, it tried to play a double game, like closing the London headquarters of Qatar Charity, then re-opened with a rebrand, being Nectar Trust. It just dropped the word ‘Qatar’ from its name.”

Mabrlunot and Chesnot rose to global fame in 2004, when they were held captive for five months in Iraq by the Islamic Army. It is their third book on Qatar after Les secrets du coffre-fort (Secrets of the Safe, 2013) and Nos tres chers emirs (Our Very Dear Emirs, 2016). Next September, they will be releasing a documentary about their new book, providing a visual aid to Qatar Papers. It will be aired on Russia Today.”

  27. PTI govt to waive death penalty for extradited suspects (tribune, Apr 17, 2019)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1952370/2-pti-govt-waive-death-penalty-extradited-suspects/

“The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved to amend a law to waive death penalty for the accused persons to be extradited from the European Union (EU) and also gave provincial counter terrorism departments the powers to investigate money laundering cases.

The provincial departments have been given the power to probe case of money laundering in a bid to fulfill conditions of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that would hold second review of the implementation of its 27-point action plan next month.

The Asia Pacific Group (APG) – a FATF-style regional body – had declared lack of power to probe money laundering cases as a critical deficiency in Pakistani laws.

“In order to remove a hurdle in the way of extradition of politically influential people from the EU, the federal cabinet approved to amend the section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code of 1860,” said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry while briefing the media about the meeting.

The minister said the decision to waive death penalty would help in extradition of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) former chief Altaf Hussain, former finance minister Ishaq Dar and Hussain Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz – sons of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

H said the EU laws bar extradition of people to the countries that have capital punishment. “Many people could not be extradited from the EU due to death penalty in Pakistan,” he added…”

“Security forces arrested a total of 17 medical staff on Wednesday for alleged links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in northwestern Turkey, judicial sources said.

Prosecutors in Balikesir province had previously issued arrest warrants for former and serving health workers, said the source, asking not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Security forces held additional operations in provinces of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

The one doctor among the suspects was also allegedly a member of a criminal organization run by Turkish televangelist Adnan Oktar.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Turkey accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.”

  30. German Cabinet agrees tougher rules for deporting migrants (DW, Apr 17, 2019)
    https://www.dw.com/en/german-cabinet-agrees-tougher-rules-for-deporting-migrants/a-48379715

“Interior Minister Horst Seehofer presented a plan with rules aimed at making it harder for failed asylum seekers to avoid deportation. The focus is on people who have exhausted all legal avenues to obtain asylum.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer gained Cabinet backing Wednesday for his Orderly Return Bill (Geordnete-Rückkehr-Gesetz).

The plan will go to parliament for debate, and could pass before the summer recess.

However, German states do not all approve of the plan which would see asylum seekers who are to be deported being held in state jails rather than pre-deportation holding facilities.

Seehofer said his package contained “strong elements” that would facilitate expulsions. Last year, Germany deported about 25,000 people. This represents just over a tenth of the total number of people ordered to leave the country.

The plan contains a series of contentious proposals including:

an increase to nearly 1,000 pre-deportation cells in regular jails. Regional ministers say this breaches the tenet that deportees be kept separate from convicted criminals
“collaborative detention” over 14 days to force potential deportees who “disguise” their identities to visit consulates of their presumed home countries to complete departure formalities

a new borderline category of “tolerated stays for persons with undetermined identities” that could ban job seeking and impose restrictions on where they live
reductions in social welfare grants for asylum seekers already granted asylum in other EU states

prosecution of civil servants who warn people being expelled about pending deportations
an extension from three to five years for reevaluation of the asylum status of individuals granted asylum in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

According to the Federal Interior Ministry some 240,000 people had been told to leave Germany by the end of February. Of these, 184,000 were deemed to have tolerated stays (Duldungen) due to illness or unverified identities.

Following Europe’s 2015 refugee crisis, asylum applications filed in Germany rose to 722,370 in 2016. Last January, Seehofer said Germany had “struck a balance” in 2018 by lowering the total to between 180,000 and 200,000.

    Language courses

Cabinet also endorsed legal changes proposed by Labor Minister Hubertus Heil to improve the integration of those people allowed to stay, or awaiting decisions likely to lead to approvals.

Attendance at German language and integration courses would be allowed nine months after the arrival of some applicants.

Currently, these courses are restricted to people recognized as having good prospects for residence, notably from Syria, Eritrea, Somalia, Iran and Iraq.

    Reactions to the plan

The package drew criticism Pro Asyl [Pro Asylum], a Frankfurt-based alliance of church and secular groups, which said the plan was focused on “deprivation, increased detentions, and the forced eviction of refugees from Germany by withholding welfare assistance.”

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), claimed the government was “hindering deportations.”

Opposition Left Party co-leader Bernd Riexinger accused Seehofer of acting like a “Wild West Sheriff,” setting false priorities at a time when his ministry should be seeking answers to Germany’s rental housing and apartment crisis.

The Greens’ Filiz Polat described the draft legislation as “one-sided, saying it was “highly questionable” in terms of its constitutionality, and “noxious” in relation to Germany’s integration efforts.”

  31. How Paris plans to improve life in city’s poorest arrondissements (thelocal, Apr 17, 2019)
    https://www.thelocal.fr/20190417/how-paris-plans-to-improve-life-in-citys-poorest-arrondissements

“Paris has announced a plan “to improve the lives” of the 350,000 of the city’s residents living in the poorest Paris arrondissements, which includes heightened police presence and increased security at Metro stations… and a party. Here’s what you need to know.

The City’s goal is to improve safety, public spaces and the improvement of daily life in the 10th, 18th and 19th arrondissements, traditionally working class areas, in northeastern Paris.

Here’s a look at the plan.

    Why is it being introduced?

Despite investing heavily in low-income neighborhoods since 2001, these neighborhoods have been confronted with repeated crises, including refugee camps and the return of crack cocaine dealers, deputy mayor Emmanuel Grégoire told Le Parisien.

“We have targeted strong, original, deployable measures quickly, to make things better,” he added.

Meanwhile deputy mayor Colombe Brossel said the aim is to fight against “delinquency of any kind”, telling the French press that she was “very moved by the fact that the women say: ‘I do not dare go home anymore’ due to fears of coming out of the Metro.

    What action will be taken?

    Security is the top priority.

The new measures will include the creation of a municipal police force, which currently exists in other towns and cities in France but not in Paris.

This police force will be “complementary and fully coordinated with the national police,” said City Hall, adding that these officers will be equipped with a “Tonfa” batons, as well as tear gas and tactical vests, a pedestrian camera, and vehicles with flashing lights.

The City will also place uniformed agents at the entrances to Metro stations.

By the summer, 35 security agents from the City of Paris will be present for seven days a week between Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement and Barbès in the 18th, as well as the surrounding areas.

At the same time, 53 officers will patrol the squares, major roads, Metro exits and parks and gardens, which are often used for squatting.

In the Place de la Chapelle area police will attempt to make it easier for women to walk around, which they say is currently being made difficult by the large presence of groups of young men.

On top of that the plan attempts to tackle unemployment.

“From now on, we are starting a training program of €1 million for every 1000 inhabitants of working-class neighborhoods so that they can take advantage of the wave of employment opportunities set to be created as part of the Olympic Games,” said Gregoire. France is set to host the games in 2024.

The move will also see several streets closed to traffic on a regular basis to allow children to play safely on them, as well as the organisation of volunteers to crack down on the noise from commercial businesses, such as bars which close late. Checks are set to be enforced, according to France Bleu.

What else has the City of Paris got planned?

The City is also organising a new festival called “Canal en Scene” on Saturday, June 29th around the basin of Villette in the 19th arrondissement, which Gregoire described as “a major cultural event in the Ile-de-France region of the likes of July 14th at the Eiffel Tower.”

“It will be divided into three stages: water games, a bal populaire (dance) and a night market and finally a great sound show, with lights, water jets and pyrotechnics on the water, which we expect tens of thousands of people to attend,” he said.

So, is this really all about the upcoming elections?

With just one year to go before the mayoral elections, naturally questions have been raised over whether this is simply about winning people over.

However Gregoire said it’s just called “doing politics”.

“Adapting to the situation, trying to improve things every day: it’s called doing politics. When the President unlocked €10 billion following the “yellow vest” movement, no one accused him of electioneering maneuver. We favor action for Parisians, especially those who need it the most.””

  33. the gateway pundit –JUST IN: Top House Democrat Committee Chairs Demand Bill Barr Cancel His Planned Press Conference on Mueller Report

The Democrats are melting down over Attorney General Bill Barr’s handling of the release of the Mueller Report with a scheduled Justice Department press conference at 9:30 AM ET.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) held an emergency presser on Wednesday evening and used his platform to attack Attorney General Bill Barr.

Now House Democrat Chairs are demanding AG Barr cancel his planned presser on Mueller’s report.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Foreign Affairs Chairman Elliot Engel (D-NY) released a joint statement late Wednesday evening calling on Barr to cancel his presser, calling it “unnecessary and inappropriate.”

“The Department of Justice announced today that the Attorney General will hold a press conference tomorrow morning before Congress has even seen Special Counsel Mueller’s report. This press conference, which apparently will not include Special Counsel Mueller, is unnecessary and inappropriate, and appears designed to shape public perceptions of the report before anyone can read it,” the statement said.

The House Democrat Chairs also criticized Bill Barr’s “numerous conversations” with White House lawyers about the report.

“There is no legitimate reason for the Department to brief the White House prior to providing Congress a copy of the report,” the Dems added.

The Dems also accused Bill Barr of protecting President Trump.

  34. BREITBART – Marlow: Tech Monopolies Are Trying to Beat Trump in 2020 by Shutting Down the ‘Voices to the Voiceless’

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow said big technology monopolies like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, and Wikipedia were attempting to “censor the outlets that might give voices to the voiceless.”

    Partial transcript is as follows:

CARLSON: So, what does it mean in practical terms that Wikipedia users can no longer use Breitbart as a citation?

MARLOW: I think in practical terms, what it means is that people who help would access Wikipedia as a source are only going to get establishment media outlets to source their claims. We know those claims, they treat full-on-hoaxes as fact. They have missed the seminal stories of our time — starting with the immigration crisis, which we started reported on in conservative media, particularly Breitbart, 2014, 2015. They missed of the Brexit narrative. They missed the narrative that the establishment and our media and political classes and the coastal elite losing touch with the working men and women in flyover county. They missed that. They missed the election of Donald Trump, and now —

    CARLSON: Not a big thing.

MARLOW: A minor thing they totally air-balled, and now a year and a half, maybe two-and-half years arguably, into the Russia hoax, this is their Jonestown, the media. This is their mass suicide effort. Will it be treated like that? No! Because they are a bubbled elite, and now they treat themselves as if they will always be correct.

CARLSON: What is so interesting is not just that they are evading all responsibility for what they did it — for the lies they told on the distortions that really wrecked our foreign policy among other things, but that they are trying to suppress other news outlets which told the truth. How Orwellian is that?

MARLOW: You nailed it here. They are not suppressing us — and they target you, they target us, they will target just about all of us right of center and who serves a right-of-center audience, not because we are getting things wrong. They’re targeting us because we are getting things right. We got these key stories right, and we will probably get the next key stories right. And they’re doing it in a methodical way. It started with Google kind of toying with the searches, which you have been good at reporting on with Dr. Robert Epstein. Twitter with shadow-banning, which we broke at Breitbart. It was called a hoax at the time, turns out it wasn’t. Facebook had to changed their algorithm because places like Breitbart were dominating. And it goes on. Wikipedia kicking us out, it shows up every time you use Google and Facebook, they rely on Wikipedia. This is methodical, and they will continue to expand this. Microsoft is now in the blacklisting game. They team with this place NewsGuard, which of corse, they sanction all the places that got the Russia hoax wrong, and they treat places like Breitbart and even the Drudge Report, as fake news. It is ridiculous. And they will continue. Next its going to be de-banking. They are going to decapitalize people not just with right -of-center world views, they are doing this with people who want a pipeline, want to work in the energy sector, and aren’t woke fascists who want the Green New Deal. It’s insane.

CARLSON: Since free speech is dying and it is not government killing it but big monopolies, sanctioned by government, do you know anyone in government who might be able to save free speech for the republic? Why is nobody doing anything about this?

MARLOW: I don’t know. And that is exactly the question I was hoping you would ask because I do hope this is the most-powerful audience and all of news, and I think it would be great if the powerful people watching it understand that this is the battle. They are trying to win the 2020 election by shutting down and censor the outlets that might give voices to the voiceless — the people disenfranchised.

CARLSON: Do you really think you are going to get reelected president if nobody can hear your message?

MARLOW: Absolutely. They see this crystal clear, and that is why they’re trying to shut down you you and me.

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/04/17/marlow-tech-monopolies-are-trying-to-beat-trump-in-2020-by-shutting-down-the-voices-to-the-voiceless/
