Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

For Palestinian women in Syria, there was no reason to celebrate International Women’s Day, an event commemorated around the world earlier this month. While in many countries women were celebrating, a report published by a human rights organization, the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria, revealed that 107 Palestinian women were being held in harsh conditions in Syrian prisons.

The Palestinian women, according to the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria, were arrested by the Syrian authorities after the beginning of the civil war in that country in 2011. “The Syrian security authorities are continuing to hold dozens of Palestinian refugee women since the beginning of the war in Syria,” the Group said. The Group’s researchers said they were able to document the cases of 107 Palestinian women who are still being held in prison; 44 from the Damascus area, 12 from the city of Homs, four from the city of Daraa and 41 from different parts of Syria.

Among the female detainees are university students, activists and mothers, some of whom, report added, were incarcerated with their children. The “testimonies of some women who were released from prison confirm that they had been subjected to various forms of torture at the hands of Syrian security officers,” the report said. “It is worth noting that Palestinian women in Syria have been subjected to arrest, kidnapping, death and disability as a result of the conflict in Syria that erupted in March 2011.”

  3. Terrorists Promoted, Victims Ignored

A group of Yazidis who held a demonstration outside the White House on March 15 called on the Trump administration to locate or rescue the estimated 3,000 women and children captured, held or killed by ISIS terrorists.

The protestors pointed to the recent incident in which ISIS fighters, fleeing one of their last strongholds in eastern Syria, beheaded of 50 Yazidi women who had been as sex slaves by the ISIS terrorists.

Most participants at the rally were survivors of ISIS’s 2014 genocidal attacks on Yazidis, a persecuted non-Muslim minority indigenous to Iraq, Syria and Turkey.

  4. CBC – Joshua Boyle’s trial opens with estranged spouse electing to lift publication ban

Caitlan Coleman, 1 of 2 alleged victims in case; publication ban remains for 2nd victim

The trial of former hostage Joshua Boyle, charged with assault, sexual assault and other offences, began Monday with one of the alleged victims, his estranged spouse, electing to lift the publication ban that has shielded her identity for more than a year.

Boyle, 35, is facing 19 charges relating to two alleged victims, with Caitlan Coleman identified as the victim for 17 of the charges. Coleman was Boyle’s spouse when he was arrested by Ottawa police on Jan. 1, 2018.

The identity of the second victim remains protected by a court-ordered publication ban.

Boyle has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently out on bail under house arrest.

Wearing a navy jacket, light pink shirt and black pants, Boyle sat in the Ontario courtroom gallery between his parents, taking notes on a small yellow pad of paper. His father, sitting to his right, also took notes.

Coleman was not in court Monday. Crown lawyer Meaghan Cunningham told court she is currently travelling to Canada, and that her testimony is expected to begin Wednesday and continue for about three days.

Boyle and Coleman were abducted while on a backpacking trip in Afghanistan in 2012.

Their return to Canada in October 2017, alongside three children they had during their five years in captivity in Afghanistan and Pakistan, made international headlines. The family visited with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau not long after their return.

    Defence to question Coleman’s reliability

During her opening remarks, Cunningham told court the Crown expects Coleman’s reliability and credibility will be “vigorously challenged” by Boyle’s defence team.

The Crown expects the defence to argue that Coleman had not behaved like someone who feared Boyle, but rather like a “consenting party.”

The judge will likely be asked to rule on whether Coleman’s testimony accords with common sense and human experience, Cunningham told court, and the Crown will argue that Coleman’s years in captivity and in an abusive relationship had a “profound effect” on her, making her experience different than most and therefore more difficult to understand and assess.

Evidence will be heard about how police came to be involved in the case, including a 911 call made in the early hours of Dec. 30, 2017.

Witnesses to be called by the Crown will include the officers who responded to the 911 call, a forensic identification officer who took part in a search warrant at the couple’s home, a neighbour who made observations about the family, Coleman’s mother and two sisters, and a Global Affairs Canada employee who accompanied the Boyle family on their flight to Canada after years in captivity.

    Increased dependency

The Crown’s first witness, registered social worker Deborah Sinclair, testified in general terms Monday about abusive relationships and how victims of abuse and trauma behave, citing a report she prepared for the Crown.

Cunningham told court Sinclair wasn’t going to comment on Boyle and Coleman or their relationship specifically.

Sinclair testified that abuse takes several forms: emotional, psychological and physical, and that abusers often “groom” their victims over time, gradually wearing them down to make them more compliant and adopt the abuser’s point of view.

It’s hard for the average person to understand why someone wouldn’t walk away, Sinclair told court, but victims often feel powerless, blame themselves and don’t look at what’s happening to them from a critical point of view.

In captivity, both partners would have an increased dependency on each other, there would be fewer options available to resist abuse, and the torture and mistreatment of an abuser may make him more likely to redirect that trauma to the victim, thereby giving him a sense of control, Sinclair testified.

During cross examination by defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon, Sinclair conceded she hasn’t done formal, peer-reviewed research on how prolonged captivity affects relationships, and that she therefore can’t say what effects five years of captivity might have on a relationship.

Sinclair also conceded she’s not an expert in distinguishing whether a victim’s behaviour results from domestic abuse or prolonged captivity, and admitted that her report doesn’t make those distinctions.

Greenspon also emphasized that Sinclair works as an activist in the field of violence against women, working to change social systems that prevent women being protected and heard.

    Arrested in 2018

Upon their return to Canada in 2017, the couple and their children went first to Smiths Falls, Ont., where Boyle’s parents live, then moved to Ottawa.

Boyle was arrested by Ottawa police on New Year’s Day in 2018 and charged.

His eight-week trial by judge alone is being overseen by Judge Peter Doody of the Ontario Court of Justice.

Boyle is being represented by Greenspon and Eric Granger, while Cunningham and Jason Neubauer are handling the case for the Crown.

The 19 charges Boyle faces are:

One count of sexual assault while threatening to use a weapon (ropes).
One count of sexual assault with a weapon (ropes).
One count of uttering a threat to cause death.
    Nine counts of assault.
One count of assault with a weapon (a broomstick).
    Three counts of unlawful confinement.
One count of administering a noxious substance (the antidepressant Trazodone).
One count of public mischief (misleading a police officer into believing that someone was suicidal and missing, causing the officer to start an investigation, and thereby diverting suspicion away from Boyle).
    One count of criminal harassment.
Police allege the offences happened in Ottawa between Oct. 14, 2017, and Dec. 30, 2017.

  9. Jihadists losing grip in Mali but peace will take time, French armed forces chief says (thedefensepost, Mar 25, 2019)
    https://thedefensepost.com/2019/03/25/mali-operation-barkhane-g5-sahel-lecointre/

“France’s armed forces chief says jihadist forces in Mali are on the back foot but the fight to restore peace in the poor Sahel country will be long.

Speaking to AFP and French radio station RFI, General Francois Lecointre said recent attacks by jihadists in Mali should be seen as the sign of a beleaguered enemy.

“The reason why the enemy has reacted so brutally is precisely because we went after him in his last holdouts,” he said last week while visiting troops from France’s Operation Barkhane in Mali.

“Another probable reason is that it has to restore a certain reputation with the public” for its ability to mount attacks, he argued.

Since the start of the month, dozens of Malian troops have been killed in jihadist attacks central Mali, sparking angry protests by their relatives.

“These highly symbolic attacks, which come on the heels of very powerful blows by Barkhane and its allies, are the reaction of someone who feels cornered,” Lecointre said.

“For me, it’s a positive sign.”

But the enemy had not yet been defeated, he said.

“Obviously … these groups are trying to get themselves back together and forge alliances because they have been weakened.”

    ‘Long battle to change mindsets’
The recent unrest in the Sahel began in Mali in 2012 with Tuareg separatist uprising against the state, which was exploited by Islamist extremists linked to al-Qaeda who took key cities in the desert north.

France began its Operation Serval military intervention in its former colony early the next year, driving the jihadists from the towns, but the militant groups morphed into more nimble formations operating in rural areas, sometimes winning over local populations by providing basic services and protection from bandits.

The insurgency has gradually spread to central and southern regions of Mali, and across the borders into neighboring Burkina Faso and Niger.

The French mission evolved into the current Operation Barkhane, which has 4,500 troops personnel deployed with a mandate for counter-terrorism operations across the region, with 2,700 soldiers in Mali to support poorly-equipped local military forces.

But the deployment comes at a hefty cost and has been subjected to political scrutiny.

Lecointre, 57, said Mali faced a long-term battle for stability.

    “I am cautious,” he said.

“It will be a long battle to change mindsets, to ensure the public believes in its State, in a Mali whose competence extends across the whole of the country.

“This is not the kind of work that can be done at the flick of a switch – it has to bring together the military effect and real work in communication and development.”…”

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190325-white-house-daesh-militants-in-syria-came-from-40-countries/

“The White House revealed yesterday that Daesh fighters in Syria came from 40 countries and that many of them were arrested after the US “crackdown” on the group.

“There are more than 1,000 foreign fighters from more than 40 countries held by the Syrian Democratic Forces,” the White House said in a statement. No details were given as to which countries the fighters are from.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces have confirmed that 100 per cent of the territory controlled by the organi ation in Syria and Iraq has been liberated,” US Acting Defence Secretary, Patrick Shanahan, said.

Shanahan added in a statement that Daesh used to control 20,000 square miles in both Iraq and Syria, but the areas have now been cleared of the group’s presence since January 2017, adding that the group no longer controls any residential areas.

Germany’s Der Spiegel newspaper reported on Saturday that nearly 60 Germans who are suspected of being Daesh members are being held by the Syrian Democratic Forces, noting that the majority are women and their children.

Two days ago, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had liberated 100 per cent of the land controlled by Daesh in Iraq and Syria.”

  11. Egypt female students protest after Al-Azhar campus rape covered up (memo, Mar 25, 2019)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190325-egypt-female-students-protest-after-al-azhar-campus-rape-covered-up/

“Hundreds of female students at Egypt’s Al-Azhar University held a protest yesterday, accusing college officials of attempting to cover up the rape of a woman on campus the week before.

Screams were heard at a nearby park within the Assuit university compound at 6pm on 18 March when a student from the Arabic Language Faculty was assaulted and raped. Found with her clothes ripped and bloodied, she was quickly taken to hospital by fellow students, but died from a severe haemorrhage caused by her injuries.

The attacker was seen to have escaped by climbing over the compound wall, but in the aftermath of the student’s death, university authorities denied that the incident had taken place. University officials claimed that the girl had travelled home for a holiday with her parents, despite eyewitness accounts to the contrary.

“The [Al-Azhar Media] centre has noticed that some of the social networking pages of anonymous stories about the incident … all containing false lies, without any specific facts that can be referred to, but only spreads confusion and panic among the students of Al-Azhar,” the university said in a press release.

Officials later banned discussion of the assault, with a voice recording allegedly of Al-Azhar Vice President Osama Al-Raouf threatening students with dismissal and further legal action if they published any “rumours” about the incident on social media.

In response, students organised a demonstration calling for the university to acknowledge the incident, the housing administration to be held responsible for its negligence, and investigate the case to locate the perpetrator. Using the hashtag “The rights of student at Al-Azhar University”, they shared videos and photos of the demonstration on social media.

However, in attempting to leave the campus, the protesters found themselves surrounded by security forces, who called on them to end the rally.

Videos from the protest show the women peacefully chanting, but security forces later closing the gates to the compound, accusing them of inciting others to protest. Two students are believed to have been detained in the demonstrations after testifying to having witnessed the assault.

Sexual assault has been identified as a persistent problem in Egypt; a 2017 report from the UN Women and Promundo found that some 60 per cent of women said they had been victims of some form of sexual harassment during their lifetimes.

However last August, Al-Azhar University issued a statement denouncing sexual abuse against women and calling for anti-harassment laws to be used to punish perpetrators.

“The holy Al-Azhar asserts that criminalising harassment must be absolute regardless of the context or conditions,” the statement read. “Blaming harassment on a woman’s clothing or behaviour is a wrong way of thinking. Harassment is an attack on a woman’s privacy as well as her dignity and freedom. This appalling phenomenon also leads to the loss of the sense of security.”

Initiatives to tackle sexual harassment in the country have also proven futile; in November an experiment conducted by grassroots media outlet Egyptian Streets found that approximately 95 per cent of calls made to a hotline dedicated to victims of sexual harassment in Egypt were ignored.

The president of the National Council of Women (NCW) which advertised the hotline had previously claimed that the rate of sexual harassment in Egypt was only 9.6 per cent in 2016, adding that 99 per cent of reports of abuse by women were invented.”

  13. Police arrest 12 persons in Ghotki forced conversion case (tribune, Mar 25, 2019)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1937008/1-police-arrest-12-persons-ghotki-forced-conversion-case/

“Ghotki police arrested on Monday 12 persons including the marriage officiator and witnesses of two minor Hindu girls who were allegedly forced to convert to Islam.

The incident came to light when a video of the girls’ father and brother surfaced online. The men said that the teenagers were abducted and forced into conversion and marriage.

The girls, who are both 13, have been identified as Reena and Raveena. They were allegedly kidnapped on March 20.

A new video, however, has now emerged in which a cleric is sitting next to the pair with two other men they were married to.

The cleric said the girls were inspired by Islam and alleged that their family was lying about the incident.

Reports also emerged that the teenagers had been moved to the Punjab city of Rahim Yar Khan from Ghotki, Sindh.

On March 24, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the government had taken notice of the incident, asking authorities in both Sindh and Punjab to jointly investigate the matter.

Similarly, it was announced that a five-point resolution seeking to end the kidnapping of Hindu girls and forced conversions was set be tabled in the next session of the National Assembly.

According to a resolution draft circulated on social media, prominent Hindu lawmaker Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani was asked by Pakistan Hindu Council to play his due role for raising his voice in the parliament, media, civil society and all other forums available, in the wake of incident.

Meanwhile, the couples approached the Islamabad High Court, seeking protection as their lives were under threat.

The application stated that propaganda was being spread in the media related to the matter.”

  14. UK: Islamophobia soars after New Zealand terror attack (aa, Mar 25, 2019)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/uk-islamophobia-soars-after-new-zealand-terror-attack/1429271

“Anti-Muslim hate crimes have soared across the U.K. in the aftermath of the New Zealand terror attacks, a monitoring group found.

Tell Mama, an NGO that documents Islamophobic incidences in the U.K., reported Sunday that anti-Muslim hate crime increased by 593 percent in the U.K. in the week after the Christchurch shootings in which 50 Muslim worshippers were murdered by a right-wing terrorist.

“This shows that some people see Muslims as fair game for hate and it is now clear that we have an ongoing and persistent ideology of hate that is generating a focus on Muslims,” said Iman Atta, director of Tell Mama.

“Muslims in New Zealand were killed and British Muslims feel the anger of bigots. It is perverse,” she added.

According to the monitoring group, 95 incidences were reported between March 15, the day of the New Zealand attacks, and March 21. Some 85 incidences, 89 percent of the total, directly referenced the New Zealand attacks and featured gestures that mimicked firearms and guns being fired at Muslims.

Muslims in north London, Southampton and Oxford have reported verbal abuse being directed towards them, including intimidating gestures that include gun gestures and bullet noises. In other incidences of verbal abuse, Muslims were told that “you need to be shot” and that “Muslims must die”.

On March 16, the day after the terrorist attack, a teenager was stabbed by a 50-year-old man, an incident the police say bears the “hallmarks of a terror event” that was inspired by the far-right.

Furthermore, four mosques were attacked and vandalized in Birmingham as well as one mosque in Scotland.

Majority of the attacks were carried out in person (45) rather than online (40) and according to Tell Mama, the perpetrators carrying out these attacks believe they would not be caught and due to the boldness of such attacks, they were not concerned about the consequences of what they had done.

“Experience tells us … that we should sadly expect that a horrific attack such as the one in Christchurch will have an impact on levels of hostility in the U.K. but it will also increase the fear of crime in affected communities. Both of these factors are likely to increase reporting levels,” said Mark Hamilton, assistant chief constable.

Last week, State Minister for Security Ben Wallace said that the New Zealand terrorist attacks could “absolutely happen” in the U.K. and that the government was considering plans to increase security funding for mosques and Muslim communities.

According to research conducted by the Independent Newspaper, far-right extremism is growing in the U.K. and white British people are more likely to sympathize with extremism than those of Asian Muslim descent. The government has been warned to not solely focus on Muslim-oriented extremism as far-right extremism is an increasing threat.

On March 15, far-right terror attacks massacred at least 50 Muslim worshippers and injured as many as they prepared for Friday prayers at Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand.”

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/over-650-irregular-migrants-held-across-turkey/1429354

“Turkey on Monday held at least 655 irregular migrants in nationwide operations, according to security sources.

In the eastern Van province alone, a total of 168 irregular migrants were held in three different operations.

Sixty-nine irregular migrants, including 47 Afghans, 19 Pakistanis, two Bangladeshis and a Syrian national were held during gendarmerie forces patrolling in Baskale district of Van, according to the local Gendarmerie Command.

Another 60 irregular migrants, including 42 Afghan and 18 Pakistani nationals, were rounded up in Gulpinar district from a parked truck on Hakkari-Van highway, according to provincial security directorate.

Also in Muradiye district of Van, 39 Afghan nationals were held on Van-Ercis highway when security forces stopped and checked a suspicious vehicle, said a security source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The irregular migrants, who were affected by bitter cold, were given blankets and food by the gendarmerie forces, the source added.

Driver of the vehicle, identified by the initials C. E., was also arrested.

In the northwestern Yalova province, 109 Afghan nationals were held during simultaneous operations in 11 different localities, according to another security source.

Two suspects among the irregular migrants are said to be migrant smugglers and legal procedures for them are ongoing in a local police station.

In Altinozu district of the southern Hatay province, 38 Syrians, who illegally entered Turkey, were also held by border guards.

They were referred to the local gendarmerie command.

Separately in northwestern province Edirne, 340 migrants — including Algerian, Moroccan, Syrian, Iraqi, Indian and Nepalese nationals — were caught while trying to cross the border through illegal means.

All of the irregular migrants were referred to provincial migration offices.

Turkey has been a main route for irregular migrants trying to cross to Europe, especially since 2011, the start of the Syrian civil war.

Over 265,000 irregular migrants were held in Turkey in 2018, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.

    https://www.thelocal.fr/20190325/pigs-head-and-animal-blood-left-at-site-of-new-mosque-in-south-west-france

“Workers building a mosque in south west France found a pig’s head and animal blood at the entrance to the site on Monday, the latest in a series of attacks on Muslim places of worship over the past decade.

Construction of the mosque in the small town of Bergerac — known for its fine Bordeaux wines and for its association with literary figure Cyrano de Bergerac — has been contested since it was first proposed in 2017 and finally approved in October 2018, despite widespread local opposition.

“The perpetrators smeared the walls with animal blood and placed a severed pig’s head” on the front gate of the construction area, the deputy public prosecutor of Bergerac, Charles Charollois, told AFP.

The vandalism took place overnight and wasn’t discovered until workers arrived in the morning.

“This building project is controversial,” Charollois said. “There have been administrative and legal appeals to stop it, so there are many leads for us to follow.”

Bergerac’s police commissioner, Frederic Perissat, “strongly denounced and condemned these acts that damage our freedom of conscience and expression and are contrary to the principles of separation of church and state,” and called for “mutual respect” in the community.

Over the past few days, posters declaring “Bergerac is the city of Perigord, not Islam!” — referring to the former name of the Dordogne region — had been pasted around the town, according to its mayor Daniel Garrigue.

“I can’t say that they’re connected, but I note that they’re in the same spirit,” Garrigue said.

In France, desecrating a religious facility is a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison.

The attack on the site in Bergerac comes less than two weeks after a gunman killed 50 Muslims in Christchurch, New Zealand, and injured another 50, during a shooting spree at two mosques.

Following the massacre, French President Emmanuel Macron ordered police to increase security at all places of worship.

France is home to Europe’s biggest Muslim and Jewish communities alike, and both faiths have been recurring targets of hate crimes in recent years.

Attacks on mosques and Islamic sites have been a yearly occurrence since 2007, when 148 Muslim headstones in a national military cemetery near Arras were smeared with anti-Islamic slurs and a pig’s head was placed among them.

Dozens of French mosques were also assaulted following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January 2015, with some targeted with firebombs, grenades or gunfire.

Similar hate crimes have targeted Jewish sites.

In February, vandals spray-painted swastikas on around 80 graves in a Jewish cemetery in Quatzenheim, near the German border.”

  19. Catholic Bishop: Muslims No More ‘Prone to Terrorism’ than Christians (breitbart, Mar 25, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/25/catholic-bishop-muslims-no-more-prone-to-terrorism-than-christians/

“An Irish bishop has come out against Catholics who “demonize” Muslims, insisting that followers of Islam are no more likely to commit terror attacks than Christians.

“To define a whole category of people, or a whole nation, or a whole religious group as being in some way more prone to terrorism than any other group is irresponsible,” Bishop Kevin Doran of Elphin told the Irish Catholic late last week.

The bishop took issue with Catholics who identify as “traditional” and “faith-filled” and yet spread fear and distrust of immigrants or say Muslims pose a threat to Western civilization.

“I’ve found that people who would classify themselves in some cases as traditional Catholics and faith-filled people seem to, in relation to migration and care of asylum-seekers and stuff, they’ll say ‘oh well these Muslims are putting our civilization at risk and they pose a threat to us,’” the bishop said.

Doran went on to say that in his experience, Muslims living in Irish society do so “peacefully and participate fully.”

“We have large numbers of Muslim children in our Catholic schools and they contribute to the ethos in many ways,” he said.

Doran’s opinions on Muslims jibe perfectly with those of Pope Francis, who famously declared in 2017 that “Muslim terrorism does not exist.”

“There are fundamentalist and violent individuals in all peoples and religions — and with intolerant generalizations they become stronger because they feed on hate and xenophobia,” the pope said.

That same year, on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States, the pontiff reaffirmed his conviction that all religions work for peace.

Religions “cannot desire anything other than peace, as they pray and serve, ever ready to help those hurt by life and oppressed by history, ever concerned to combat indifference and to promote paths of communion,” he said.

At one point, the Islamic State terror group became fed up with the pope’s insistence that Islam is a religion of peace, and that jihadists are not motivated by religious belief but by economic conditions.

“This is a divinely-warranted war between the Muslim nation and the nations of disbelief,” declared an article titled “By the Sword” in a 2016 issue of Dabiq, the propaganda magazine of the Islamic State.

The article attacked Francis for claiming that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence,” saying that by doing this, “Francis continues to hide behind a deceptive veil of ‘good will,’ covering his actual intentions of pacifying the Muslim nation.”

The pope “has struggled against reality” in his attempts to portray Islam as a religion of peace, the article said, while urging all Muslims to take up the sword of jihad, the “greatest obligation” of a follower of Allah.

Despite the obviously religious nature of their attacks, the article states, “many people in Crusader countries express shock and even disgust that Islamic State leadership ‘uses religion to justify violence.’”

“Indeed, waging jihad — spreading the rule of Allah by the sword — is an obligation found in the Quran, the word of our Lord,” it said.

“The blood of the disbelievers is obligatory to spill by default. The command is clear. Kill the disbelievers, as Allah said, ‘Then kill the polytheists wherever you find them.’””

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of two Muslim lawmakers in the current Congress, called on US Muslims to “raise hell” and “make people uncomfortable” in the face of discrimination, the Washington Times reported Sunday.

“So, to me, I say raise hell. Make people uncomfortable,” Omar said during her speech at at a fundraiser hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) of Greater Los Angeles in California.

“Because here’s the truth, here’s the truth: Far too long, we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen, and frankly I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it,” she said, to cheers from the audience….”
