  1. DAILY MAIL & TORY FUNCTIONARIES RETURN TO THEIR FASCIST PASTS
I have every sympathy with the democratic, patriotic audience of the Tory Party and the Daily Mail but both have been betrayed by corporate functionaries today just as they were when those institutions appeased Nazism in the 1930s. Today Tories have been manipulated by a party organisation devoted to staying in the EU and the Daily Mail, having trumpeted democratic sovereignty for so long now has an editor who appeases those who wish to keep the UK under the control of the European Union. As in the 1930s both the Tory Party and the Mail might well learn their lesson and return to democracy. But just as the anti fascists fought them in the 1930s so the battle must be joined today. But the British people are not fooled and 44% now want to leave “without a deal” (there is in fact no deal on offer, just an exit fine and permanent servitude!) and only 30% disagree. Rodney Atkinson

FRIEND OR FOE? TONY BLAIR ADVISED MACRON ON HOW TO DERAIL BREXIT
The former Labour prime minister believes that if the EU stands its ground over the Brexit deal, Parliament will cave in and accept a customs union – which would keep Britain yoked to Brussels – or a second referendum that could cancel Brexit altogether. He is reported to have told Mr Macron to “hold firm” and wait for events to play out in London that end in Britain staying in the EU.

Hanging, drawing and quartering was the usual punishment until the 19th century. The last treason trial was that of William Joyce, “Lord Haw-Haw”, who was executed by hanging in 1946. Since the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 became law, the maximum sentence for treason in the UK has been life imprisonment.

    • “Hanging, drawing and quartering”. That sounds about right for Blair, May and not a few others but I would happily settle for just “hanging”.

      • The punishment for female traitors in Plantagenet England was burning at the stake.

And to this very day, women all across the UK remain famous for burning their steaks. As the old saying goes:

England, the land of seventeen religions … and three sauces.

I’ve heard that “shot and hanged after torture”, was once all the rage. It’s enough to convince a body that some traditions truly are worth conserving.

PS: With that entire “drawing and quartering” meghilla, people always neglect to mention how the condemned’s intestines were pulled out through his anus and burned in a heap in front of him before proceeding with the other horsing around.

      • Sounds good to me, but we don’t do ‘cruel and unusual’.
Not because we’re such softies, but our Founding Fathers figured that sort of thing debased the society.
