  1. A soldier from Africa is suing the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for £150,000, claiming they failed to protect him from cold weather conditions.
Michael Asiamah, from Ghana, brought the negligence claim after allegedly suffering a “cold-related” condition during exercises on Salisbury Plain in March 2016.

According to his lawyers, the 36-year-old suffered pain and numbness in his feet and hands after he was exposed to 18 hours of cold and windy conditions during Exercise Scorpion.

Mr Asiamah told the High Court his superiors had neglected to warn him to bring warm kit such as gloves, socks, and boots ahead of the exercise, which he said took place one week after he was forced to spend five hours listening to lectures in cold weather while dressed in civilian clothing in Naseby, Northamptonshire.

  2. Two Saudi families purchased 62 Maltese passports: Report (aljazeera, Dec 29, 2018)
    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/12/saudi-families-purchased-62-maltese-passports-report-181229151747336.html

“Dozens of Saudi nationals belonging to two of the country’s wealthiest families became Maltese citizens – and thus citizens of the European Union – last year after paying millions of dollars to buy the country’s passports, the Times of Malta reported.

Malta launched its controversial cash for passports scheme in 2013 when the Maltese citizenship could be bought for 650,000 euros ($743,000).

The Maltese passport allows freedom of movement within the EU, since the holder of the passport has automatic European citizenship.

Earlier this week, Malta’s government gazette published the names of 62 Saudis belonging to the al-Muhaidib and al-Agil families, who were named by Forbes magazine as among the richest in the world.

The newspaper pointed out that the family members, most of them minors, became Maltese citizens in 2017, and might not have set foot on Maltese territory yet.

    Wealthy families
Established in 1946, the al-Muhaidib Group deals in construction and foodstuffs. It is headed by Sulaiman Al-Muhaidib, whose fortune, according to Forbes, exceeds three billion euros.

He acquired the Maltese passport along with 34 of his brothers, spouses and family members.

The al-Agil family, which owns the Jarir Group business empire, has a wealth of over 1.5bn euros and obtained 27 Maltese passports.

The Jarir Group, which is listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange, is controlled by brothers Mohammed, Abdulkarim, Abdulsalam, Abdullah and Nasser. All of them acquired Maltese passports.

According to the Times of Malta, the list published by the gazette does not provide information on the amount of money paid by the Muhaidib and Agil families for the passports.

The Malta authorities have refused calls to publish a list of foreigners who have obtained citizenship through payment, and instead publish the names of new Maltese citizens every year, including those who went through the long process of naturalization.

According to the Times of Malta, a large proportion of the buyers of the Maltese passport are from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.”

Union Scum: Seasonal UPS Workers Had Paychecks Taken By Local Teamsters Chapter In Boston
Season UPS workers in the Boston area worked for over 40 hours a week during the holidays, and only received less that $15 total in compensation. It may sound like sweat shop labor. It isn’t. The local Teamsters chapter in the area virtually gobbled up every season worker’s paycheck…because that’s what happens when you join a union. They’re scum. Sheila O’Malley of Charlestown told CBS Boston that she worked 41 hours one week, many of it during the nights, and only received $14.52 in total pay. She agreed to pay the Teamsters $500 initiation fee in $32.00/week payments, but she was later told that this policy had been rescinded. Now, she and others have been sent scrambling financially, as the union sucked all of their hard earned money from their paychecks. The National Labor Relations Board is now investigating the local Teamsters chapter over their labor practices (via CBS Boston):

  5. DAILY MAIL – Morocco arrests Swiss man over links to hiker murder suspects

A Swiss man living in Morocco was arrested in Marrakesh on Saturday, for alleged links to suspects in the recent murder of two female Scandinavian hikers, authorities said.

The man is “suspected of teaching some of those arrested in this case about communication tools involving new technology and of training them in marksmanship”, Morocco’s central office for judicial investigations said in a statement.

The counter-terror organ added he subscribed to “extremist ideology” and also has Spanish citizenship.

The ongoing investigation into the double murder uncovered the man was involved in the “recruitment of Moroccans and sub-Saharans to carry out terrorist plans in Morocco”, the statement said.

Danish student Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, and 28-year-old Norwegian Maren Ueland were found dead at an isolated hiking spot in the High Atlas mountains, south of Marrakesh on December 17.

The two women were beheaded, authorities have said.

Ahead of Saturday’s arrest, Moroccan authorities had previously arrested 18 people for alleged links to the murders.

The four main suspects were arrested in Marrakesh and belonged to a cell inspired by Islamic State group ideology, Morocco’s counter-terror chief Abdelhak Khiam told AFP this week.

But none of the four had contact with IS members in Syria or Iraq, he said.

The head of the suspected cell is 25-year-old street vendor Abdessamad Ejjoud, according to investigators.

He was identified in a video filmed a week before the double-murder, in which the four main suspects pledged allegiance to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to authorities.

The killings have shaken Norway, Denmark and Morocco. Another video circulated on social networks allegedly showed the murder of one of the tourists.

Morocco, which relies heavily on tourism income, suffered a jihadist attack in 2011, when a bomb blast at a cafe in Marrakesh’s famed Jamaa El Fna Square killed 17 people, mostly European tourists.

An attack in the North African state’s financial capital Casablanca killed 33 people in 2003.

  7. ‘We Would Welcome President Pelosi’: Howard Dean Says Impeaching Trump and Pence ‘Actually Possible’

Howard Dean, former Vermont governor, ex-DNC Chair and failed Democratic Party presidential candidate, openly spoke online about the Democrats’ hope for a double impeachment that would remove President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from office to be replaced by soon-to-be Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), saying, “We would welcome President Pelosi.”

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/12/we-would-welcome-president-pelosi-howard-dean-says-impeaching-trump-and-pence-actually-possible/?omhide=true

    • We would welcome President Pelosi

What a perfect epitaph. Why didn’t I think of that myself?! Dean’s utterance has all the resonance of that Kent Brockman line, “And I, for one, welcome our insect overlords.”

The only reason that a dingbat like Pelosi holds congressional office is because of how much campaign money she bundled for Northern California Democrats. After a point, they were obliged to admit her to the halls of power.

Take this as a necessarily harsh object lesson regarding why America requires federally financed presidential elections (which completely exclude all corporate or foreign funding and severely limit donation levels for private citizens).

If ever there was a female equivalent of 0bama’s empty suit, it would be Pelosi. It’s not that her face has been lifted more times than an Olympic barbell, either. To paraphrase “Deteriorata“:

Be assured that a walk through the seas of Pelosi’s Political résumé would scarcely get your feet wet.

  8. UK Welcomes Extremists, Bans Critics of Extremists

    by Douglas Murray

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13455/britain-extremists

The British government’s idea of who is — and who is not — a legitimate asylum seeker becomes stranger by the month.

In November it was reported that the Pakistani Christian mother of five, Asia Bibi, was unlikely to be offered asylum by the British government due to concerns about “community” relations in the UK. What this means is that the UK government was worried that Muslims of Pakistani origin in Britain may object to the presence in the UK of a Christian woman who has spent most of the last decade on death row in Pakistan, before being officially declared innocent of a trumped-up charge of “blasphemy”.

Yet, as Asia Bibi – surely one of the people in the world most needful of asylum in a safe country – continues to fear for her life in her country of origin, Britain’s idea of who should be allowed to travel to the country (and stay) looks ever more perverse.

One person, for instance, who has had no trouble being in London is Dr Ataollah Mohajerani, Iran’s former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance. Mohajerani is best known for his book-length defence of the Ayatollah Khomeini’s fatwa against the British novelist Salman Rushdie. After the Khomeini’s call on the world’s Muslims to kill Rushdie for writing a novel, Mohajerani wrote a 250-page book, A Critique of the Conspiracy of The Satanic Verses, which justified the death-sentence. For more than a decade, however, apparently fallen out with part of the regime in Iran, Mohajerani has been living in Harrow, where he intermittently keeps up his campaign against Rushdie.

“Almost all of the Sudanese mercenaries recruited by the oil-rich kingdom appear to have come from the impoverished and battle-scarred region of Darfur, the New York Times reported on Friday.

It added that Saudi Arabia used its oil wealth to outsource the war, mainly by hiring tens of thousands of “desperate survivors of the conflict in Darfur to fight, many of them children.”

The majority of the fighters are said to belong to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, who were blamed for the systematic rape of women and girls, indiscriminate killing and other war crimes during Darfur’s conflict.

Sudanese militias are commanded by Saudi and Emirati military officials “via remote control,” as they want to keep a safe distance from the front, the bombshell report said.

One unnamed soldier who fought near Hudaydah said Saudis and Emiratis “treat the Sudanese like their firewood.”

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than three-and-a-half years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The UN has recently brokered a ceasefire in Yemen but the Saudi-led coalition has continuously violated the ongoing truce.”

  10. Islamic Revolution Spreading Day by Day: Iranian Cleric (tasnimnews, Dec 29, 2018)

“Prominent Iranian cleric Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani highlighted the popularity of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and said it has become a role model for other nations’ movements and uprisings.

“Thank God, the development that was created by Imam Khomeini (Islamic Revolution) is extending day by day,” Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani said in meeting with a number of students from Lebanon in the holy city of Qom on Saturday.

“Some thought that this revolution would come to an end but, thank God, this revolution is spreading further day by day,” he said, adding that many movements and uprisings that take place in other countries around the world are inspired by the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the thoughts of Imam Khomeini.

“This revolution and this transformation becomes stronger every day and the enemy becomes weaker,” the cleric went on to say.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.”

  11. Turkey probes high-profile TV anchor over incitement claims (mee, Dec 29, 2018)
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkey-probes-prominent-tv-anchor-over-incitement-claims-676291890

“A Turkish prosecutor has launched an investigation into a prominent TV news presenter less than two weeks after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lambasted the journalist, local media has reported.

The prosecutor’s office said it was investigating Fox Haber channel’s Fatih Portakal for “openly inciting others to commit a crime” after he speculated whether Turks could protest like those in the “Yellow Vest” movement in France, the Hurriyet and Milliyet dailies said.

“Come on, let’s have a peaceful protest, a protest against… rising natural gas fees. Come on, let’s do it. Would we be able to do it?” the journalist, who has over six million followers on Twitter, asked.

“For the love of God, tell me how many people would come out?” Portakal demanded as he speculated about the impact of Turks’ fears of protesting in a news programme on 10 December.

During anti-government protests in 2013, Erdogan was criticised for the police’s heavy-handed crackdown against demonstrators, the AFP news agency reported.

Portakal’s comments were interpreted by Turkish officials as a call for demonstrations, with the country suffering a slowing economy and high inflation.

Consumer prices reached over 25 percent in October, before falling to 21.62 percent in November.

Portakal had made the comments during a news segment about France’s “Yellow Vest” movement, which started as a demonstration against fuel price hikes in November but has since snowballed into broader anti-government opposition.

    ‘Know your place!’
Erdogan has repeatedly criticised the journalist for his comments, saying in mid-December: “He is calling people to get out on the street.

“Know your place! If you don’t know your place, the people will teach you a lesson.”

Earlier this week, Turkey’s audiovisual authority RTUK fined Fox Haber for an undisclosed amount and said the channel had to suspend three future broadcasts of the primetime news show.

Fox Haber gives greater coverage to the opposition parties than other mainstream channels in an increasingly constricted media landscape in Turkey under the rule of Erdogan.

Fox Haber, which means Fox News in Turkish, is not linked to the Fox News Channel in the United States.

The investigation comes after two famous Turkish actors were accused of insulting Erdogan during a television programme on Halk TV last week.

An Istanbul court on Monday released the two men on conditional bail after they were summoned to give statements to prosecutors.

Turkey’s allies and human rights defenders have raised concerns over a clampdown on freedom of expression under Erdogan, with scores of journalists and civil society activists imprisoned.”

    • …”I think terrorism can strike anywhere in the world,” Somand Yang from South Korea told AFP. “You have to be careful but it is also like luck.

Reporting this sort of superstitious Third World hogwash only helps to further camouflage the real roots of Islamic terrorism. Whether anyone does or doesn’t experience a jihadist attack isn’t, as the word “luck” would seem to imply, a matter of random chance.

Modern Islamic jihad is totally dependent upon its victims being or neutered through over-civility or too weakened demographically. Excessive civilizing in the West has produced generations of unduly cautious types. These new cadres increasingly base their threat assessments by whether or not any original thought will be required of them. When this method of gauging reality becomes fully crystallized, viola!, you get today’s epitome of evanescence … the snowflakes.

This sort of willful psychological shallowness is a direct byproduct of society’s refusal to distinguish between intelligence and wisdom. As the old saw goes:

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.
      — Charles Bukowski

This article’s inclusion of infantile Asian fatalism masks the fundamental reality that, if anything, you make your luck. The way that anyone avoids Islamic jihadists is by making their sheer existence such a threat to the masses of less violently inclined Muslims that these Lions of Islam™ are stripped of their pride.

Infidels and Muslims alike have yet to fully appreciate that you avoid Islamic jihadists is by killing Islamic jihadists—along with those who ignore or sequester them.

Allowing these scumbags to infiltrate a town puts the entire place at risk. At present, the biggest risk is that of having rigid sharia law imposed. A yet-to-adequately-manifest risk is that of simple annihilation. As in, the entire town disappears.

Rinse and repeat a few (dozen) times in order to get the mule’s attention have ordinary Muslims frantically scrambling to liquidate all available jihadists (that is, when they aren’t bowing towards Western Civilization five times a day).

Someone needs to remind Somand Yang that being superstitious is bad luck.

      • This appeal to the kafir with inane superstition is just as lame as Sadiq Khan’s, “Terror’s part of life in the big city.” The Asian gloss is cute, seeing how China and Burma, for example, construe coexistence with tards and “fate”.

Infidels and Muslims alike have yet to fully appreciate that you avoid Islamic jihadists is by killing Islamic jihadists – along with those who ignore or sequester them.

“Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said yesterday that his country is planning to stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Answering a question during a traditional end-of-year press conference held in the Italian capital Rome, Conte said that his government plans to formalise a decision soon, Anadolu Agency reported.

“We are not in favour of the sale of these weapons and so now it is only a question of formalising this position and acting accordingly,” Conte explained, answering a question about whether Italy would continue arms sales to Saudi Arabia in light of its war in Yemen and involvement in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October.

Khashoggi’s death caused global outrage against Saudi Arabia, with the CIA recently reaching the conclusion that Khashoggi was killed following a direct order from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS). However, US President Donald Trump doubted the CIA’s findings, stressing that MBS is a longstanding partner of the United States.

Several other countries have ceased arms sales to Saudi Arabia in the wake of Khashoggi’s murder, including Germany, Denmark and Austria.”

    • Italy to stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia

And exactly how this will avoid driving The Magic Kingdom™ even further into American arms? (Pun intended.)

“Turkish intelligence officers brought back from Azerbaijan a member of the group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey, security sources said on Dec. 29.

Mehmet Gelen, who is wanted by Turkish authorities, had been trying to enter Belarus with a fake passport when he was deported to Azerbaijan, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

A teacher by profession, Gelen worked for FETÖ schools operating in Azerbaijan until the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, which led to the closing of schools belonging to the terror group in the Caucasian country.

FETÖ has a considerable presence outside Turkey, including private educational institutions that serve as a revenue stream for the terrorist group.

After he was deported to Azerbaijan, the Turkish Intelligence Organization (M?T) successfully apprehended Gelen in an operation against the group.

Gelen is wanted for being a member of an armed terrorist organization.

A number of key FETÖ members have been brought to Turkey from especially Balkan countries by Turkish intelligence operations.

FETÖ and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gülen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

The Turkish Coast Guard rounded up 536 irregular migrants in 12 interventions — including those on migratory routes — on Dec. 21-28, the ministry announced on its website on Dec. 29.

All the irregular migrants were held in western Turkey, since they were trying to cross to Greece.

The ministry gave no details on the migrants’ nationalities.

In addition, 12 human smugglers were arrested by Turkish gendarmes and police.

Turkey has been the main route for refugees trying to cross into Europe, especially since the beginning of the civil war in Syria in 2011.”

“A man has been sentenced to six years in prison and deportation from Sweden for raping a nine-year-old girl in a shed outside an apartment building.

The 30-year-old approached the girl as she was cycling home from her school in Malmö, then lured her into the shed, locked the door, pushed her to the floor and raped her.

He then held the girl by the throat, and threatened to beat her if she didn’t stop screaming, according to a report in the Aftonbladet newspaper,

The girl told police that she had never seen her attacker before, leaving police struggling to find a lead. But the man turned himself in five days later, confessing fully to what he had done.

According to the court’s judgement, the man, who is himself father to a 9-year-old, told police that he had been in the area where the attack took place because he wanted “to find a girl to rape”. It didn’t matter to him, he added, if the girl was a child.

“The crime should be considered aggravated with regard to the defendant’s low age and that NN [the perpetrator] used both violence and the threat of criminal action,” the court said.

The judge and three lay jurors disagreed over the sentence, however, with one arguing that the man’s punishment should be reduced because he had contacted police himself.

The man was also found guilty of two sexual offences committed when he was living in Skellefteå, northern Sweden, earlier in the autumn: sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl; and exposing himself to and groping a third woman.

He was also found guilty of robbery, knife crime, and petty drugs offences.”
