    Paris was again the epicentre of clashes as fresh anti-government Yellow Vest protests swept France for a fourth consecutive weekend.

    While France’s capital is going to feel the brunt of the Yellow Vests protest this weekend, FRANCE 24 sent its reporters out of Paris to meet protesters in rural France. In the small town of Montargis, the Yellow Vests have set up camp at a strategic roundabout and are preparing to spend the Christmas holidays making their voices heard. FRANCE 24 takes a look at some of the reasons behind their anger.

    PARIS (AP) — Late Friday night, the air on the Champs-Elysees was thick with perfume: heady blends of lavender, rose and other enticing scents wafting out of chic boutiques and perfumeries aglitter with Christmas tinsel.

    A day later, on what turned out to be yet another angry Saturday, Paris’ most famous boulevard simply reeked of tear gas. Clouds of the stuff hung in the air, burning throats but not silencing the sullen, rebellious crowds.

  4. Paris cleans up after latest riot; pressure builds on Macron

    PARIS (AP) — Paris tourist sites reopened, workers cleaned up broken glass and shop owners tried to put the city on its feet again Sunday, a day after running battles between yellow-vested protesters and riot police left 71 injured and caused widespread damage to the French capital.

    The man at the focus of protesters’ anger, President Emmanuel Macron, broke his silence to tweet his appreciation for the police overnight, but pressure mounted on him to propose new solutions to calm the anger dividing France. A spokesman said Sunday that Macron would address the nation early in the week.

    Less than a month ago, French President Emmanuel Macron staked his claim as the flag-bearer for globalism. In a speech to 60 world leaders at the Arc de Triomphe, he eulogized the United Nations and declared nationalism the “betrayal” of patriotism.

    Last Saturday, tear gas and cobblestones flew in the same part of Paris as protesters trashed the iconic monument and demanded Macron’s embattled government withdraw a proposed fuel-tax increase. For the first time in his presidency, he backed down. It was a humbling moment for opponents of the populist revolts that spawned Donald Trump.

  6. Clashes as yellow vest protests grow in Belgium, Netherlands

    BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgian police fired tear gas and water cannons at yellow-vested protesters calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Charles Michel after they tried to breach a riot barricade, as the movement that started in France made its mark Saturday in Belgium and the Netherlands.

    Protesters in Brussels threw paving stones, road signs, fireworks, flares and other objects at police blocking their entry to an area where Michel’s offices, other government buildings and the parliament are located.

    Brussels police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere said that around 400 protesters were gathered in the area.

    President Trump says the Paris climate agreement isn’t working out so well for Paris, amid the ongoing demonstrations in the French capital.

    He made the comment in a tweet Saturday, noting that protests and riots are happening all over France.

    The president also said people do not want to pay large sums of money, much of which goes to “questionably run” third world countries, in order to “maybe protect the environment.”

    The president’s comments come as riot police launch tear gas at ‘yellow vest’ protesters, during the fourth weekend of fuel tax demonstrations.

      Remember, folks. When Conservatives lambasted the Sierra Club’s unlimited migration policy by pointing out how all these “immigrants” came from relatively small-carbon-footprint countries and, once in the USA, would rapidly rise to First World consumption rates of goods and energy (thereby contributing to The Great Warmening), these supposedly pro-environment weenies refused to back down on their borderless bu!!$hit.
