  1. The reason – yes, you want to know this – why the recount for FL agriculture commissioner matters
    By J.E. Dyer November 14, 2018

Outside of Florida, most observers probably didn’t think anything in particular about the third race for which a recount was ordered on 10 November after the 6 November election.

The big races, for U.S. Senate and governor, have captured all the attention. Initially, many national media outlets didn’t even mention the state race for agriculture commissioner.

But it’s a freighted race, as it turns out, and a very tight one. At the time Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner ordered the recount, the margin between Democrat Nikki Fried and Republican Matt Caldwell was only .06%, or a scant 5,296 votes.

In fact, Caldwell had actually been ahead of Fried on election night. It was during the counting of all those other ballots after election day – some no doubt legitimate, others magically appearing and impossible to validate – that Fried began pulling ahead in the count.

    • The FL agriculture commissioner administers the concealed carry permits in Florida, the Dem is very anti gun and doesn’t think anyone outside of police should carry firearms.

  2. Judge who boosted Democratic chances in Georgia recount is sister of NPR’s Nina Totenberg

The federal judge in Georgia whose order raised Democratic hopes in the state’s election recount shares a connection with another member of the legal community — her older sister is NPR’s longtime legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg.

U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg issued an order Monday barring Georgia’s secretary of state from certifying the results of the 2018 general election before Friday. Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate for governor, is currently 58,150 votes behind Brian Kemp, Georgia’s secretary of state until his resignation last week and the GOP candidate.

The ruling came after a lawsuit filed by liberal pressure group Common Cause Georgia over the handling of thousands of provisional ballots cast by registered voters in the midterm elections.

  3. California State Bar closes probe into Michael Avenatti, takes no ‘further action’ on allegations of ‘professional misconduct’

The State Bar of California has closed its investigation into Michael Avenatti and allegations of professional misconduct leveled against him earlier this year, stating it does not have clear evidence of violations of the state’s ethics rules.

The complaint, which was filed in late March by attorney David Nold of Bellevue, Wash., was related to Avenatti’s role in purchasing Tully’s Coffee several years ago through an entity called Global Baristas. The complaint said Avenatti and Global Baristas faced a lien for unpaid federal taxes worth roughly $5 million, claiming taxes were withheld from workers’ paychecks but not paid to the government.

“The State Bar has completed the investigation of the allegations of professional misconduct reported by David Nold. We have determined that this matter does not warrant further action,” Joe Nunley, an investigator with the California State Bar, wrote in a letter to Avenatti’s attorneys. “Therefore, the matter is closed.”

  4. ISIS Group Claims California Wildfires Are Retribution, Vows ‘You Will See More Fires’

One of the many media groups supporting ISIS operations online claimed that the deadly wildfires in northern and southern California are retribution for coalition bombings in Syria.

The image circulated online by Al-Ansar Media uses a photo of a burning building and misspells the state “kalifornia.”

“O america, This is the punishment of bombing Muslims in Syria,” states the text. “This is Allah’s punishment for you. And in shaa Allah, you will see more fires. Praise be to Allah.”

The Camp Fire in Butte County, north of Sacramento in California’s Gold Rush country, has claimed the lives of at least 48 people, according to Cal Fire incident stats today. The blaze, which started Thursday, has destroyed 7,600 residences and 260 commercial buildings, making it the most destructive fire in the state’s history as it ripped through Paradise, Calif., at a speed of 80 acres per minute. It was 35 percent contained today at 130,000 acres. The cause is still under investigation.

  5. USA: Tommy Robinson video-link event disrupted by protesters

Three protesters disrupted UK far-right activists Tommy Robinson’s appearance via videolink at an event called ‘Censoring Public Discussion of Islam’ in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

The event organised by conservative think tank Middle East Forum and hosted by Republican Representative Paul Gosar, who was recently re-elected in Arizona.

In the middle of the speech, as Gosar was condemning police for focusing “on so-called offensive speech,” one of the members of the audience stood up and confronted the congressman.

The man shouted “shame on you” and accused the audience and the hosts for “supporting racist hatred.”

Later the activist was joined by two other female protesters.

Capitol Police were promptly called and escorted the protesters out of the room.

Robinson was forced to address the audience via Skype after reportedly being denied a US visa.

Fifty-five British lawmakers from both major political parties recently wrote to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting that the government ban Robinson from visiting.

  6. Turkey vs. the Southern Caucasus Republics
By Lt. Col. (res.) Dr. Mordechai Kedar and Col. (res.) Dr. Dan Gottlieb

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: On October 13, 1921, the Kars Agreement was signed in the town of Kars in eastern Anatolia (Western Armenia). This agreement redrew, in Turkey’s favor, the Kars-Ardahan-Artvin border between Turkey and the Caucasus republics of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, an area that had been stripped from Turkey by the post-WWI Sèvres peace treaty. While there are irredentist trends in the now independent Caucasian republics that wish to invalidate the Turkish claim, they are being restrained by present day realities.

The Sèvres Agreement (August 10, 1920), which partitioned the territories of the defeated Ottoman Empire, delineated inter alia the border between the newly born Turkish state and its northeastern neighbors, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The agreement was not favorable to Turkey, which had lost the Kars region to Christian domination (Georgia and Armenia).

Through shrewd diplomacy, Turkish statesmen managed to reverse this. The young Soviet regime at the time was desperate to achieve international recognition of its legitimacy, and was therefore ready to turn the area back over to Turkey in exchange for recognition. This arrangement was formalized in the Moscow Agreement of March 16, 1921. The loss of these lands was not particularly painful to Moscow as they were not Russian territories but Armenian and Georgian. Georgia and Armenia (Azerbaijan was party to the agreement too, but further to the east) were embroiled in an agonizing Sovietization process that was creating a great deal of internal strife, so they were in no position to resist dictates that were coming from Moscow at their expense.

  9. Exclusive: 72 percent say media ‘dividing Americans,’ spreading ‘hate’

Nearly three-quarters of the country believes that the media is “dividing Americans” along political, racial, and gender lines, a stunning condemnation of the press, according to a new national survey.

What’s more, the Zogby Analytics poll provided to Secrets said that the media bias is sparking hate and misunderstanding.

And while Americans also blame President Trump for dividing voters, the survey analysis said the media is worse. Those surveyed, said Zogby Analytics, “felt the mainstream media spreads hate and misunderstanding, also felt that President Trump is responsible for the spread of hate and misunderstanding, but more voters overall, and in most sub-groups, blame the media slightly more!”

  10. It took a while, but CNN finally got around to posting a piece on celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti’s arrest

Seeing as the story of celebrity lawyer and potential 2020 contender Michael Avenatti’s arrest on domestic violence charges originated at TMZ, maybe CNN wanted to be extra-careful about doing some fact-checking before running a story.

CNN did keep people waiting, though.

FOX News – Avenatti reportedly arrested for domestic violence

    • WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on Michael Avenatti (all times local):

      8:50 p.m.

Michael Avenatti has been released from police custody following his arrest on a felony domestic violence charge in Los Angeles.

As he walked out of the police station Wednesday, Avenatti told reporters he “has never struck a woman.”

He says he has been an advocate for women’s rights and would never disrespect his children by “touching a woman inappropriately.”

Avenatti says he’s confident he will be fully exonerated after police complete a thorough investigation.

Los Angeles police said Avenatti was arrested Wednesday afternoon and his bail was set at $50,000.

Officer Tony Im, a police spokesman, said the victim had visible injuries. He declined to provide details about the victim’s relationship to Avenatti.

      8:20 p.m.

Michael Avenatti says the domestic violence allegations that led to his arrest by Los Angeles police are “completely bogus.”

Avenatti says in a statement released by his law firm Wednesday that the accusations were “fabricated and meant to do harm to my reputation.”

He is thanking police for their professionalism and says they were only doing their jobs. But Avenatti says he’s “never been physically abusive” in his life.

Avenatti says he looks forward to being “fully exonerated.”

Police say Avenatti was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of domestic violence but are not providing any additional details about the incident.

Los Angeles police say Michael Avenatti is being held on $50,000 bail after his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.

Officer Tony Im, a police spokesman, says the victim in Wednesday’s case had visible injuries.

He says Avenatti was arrested around 2 p.m. Wednesday on the same block as his apartment in Los Angeles.

Im would not identify the victim or provide any details about their relationship with Avenatti.

Avenatti, who is best known as the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, has called the allegations “completely bogus.”

He says the accusations of physical abuse were “fabricated and meant to do harm to my reputation.”

      6:55 p.m.

Vermont Democrats have cancelled several events with Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti following his arrest over allegations of domestic violence.

Avenatti, whose representation of Daniels and criticism of President Donald Trump have led to speculation of a 2020 presidential run, was taken into police custody Wednesday. Police responded Tuesday to a report of domestic violence and he remains in police custody in Los Angeles.

      R. Christopher Di Mezzo, the communication director for the Vermont Democratic Party, tells the Burlington Free Press that Avenatti’s appearances in Vermont this weekend were cancelled. He says the party “wasn’t going to step in that arena” as a result of the arrest.

The party was set to host Avenatti in Burlington on Friday and in White River Junction on Saturday.

      __

      6:20 p.m.

A law enforcement official says Michael Avenatti is in police custody in Los Angeles following an allegation of domestic violence.

The official says Avenatti was taken into custody Wednesday. Police had responded to a domestic violence incident a day earlier and took a report.

The official wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Avenatti remained in custody Wednesday evening and a call and text message seeking comment weren’t immediately returned.

Avenatti is best known as the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, who has said she had sex with President Donald Trump in 2006. Trump has denied having an affair.

Avenatti is also mulling a 2020 presidential run.

  11. GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH: Trump Was Right To Boot CNN Reporter From White House

To hear members of the White House press corps tell it, at stake is the First Amendment, the Fifth Amendment, and perhaps the very future of America as we know it.

In reality, it’s nothing of the kind.

CNN’s Jim Acosta was booted out of the White House last week because he’s a petulant crybaby who decided that he would simply bully his way into asking the president (of the United States, mind you) question after question after question after … you get the idea.

  13. Florida Department of State Sends Dem Voter Fraud Charges to Feds
    November 14, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

The radical Left stole a Senate seat in Arizona where Republicans were too weak to stand up for themselves. But Florida Republicans seem to have more fight in them.

The Florida Department of State last week asked federal prosecutors to investigate dates that were changed on official state election documents, the first voting “irregularities” it has flagged in the wake of the 2018 elections.

The concerns, which the department says can be tied to the Florida Democratic Party, center around date changes on forms used to fix vote-by-mail ballots sent with incorrect or missing information. Known as “cure affidavits,” those documents used to fix mail ballots were due no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 — the day before the election. But affidavits released on Tuesday by the DOS show that documents from four different counties said the ballots could be returned by 5 p.m. on Thursday, which is not accurate.

The information was sent on Nov. 9 by Bradley McVay, DOS’ interim general counsel, who asked that the altered dates be investigated.

“Altering a form in a manner that provides the incorrect date for a voter to cure a defect … imposes a burden on the voter significant enough to frustrate the voter’s ability to vote,” McVay wrote in a letter that was sent Nov. 9 and released publicly on Tuesday. The letter was sent to U.S. Attorneys Christopher P. Canova of the Northern District of Florida, Maria Chapa Lopez of the Middle District of Florida and Ariana Fajardo Orshan in the Southern District of Florida.

In an email chain released as part of the Department of State’s Tuesday document dump, Citrus County Supervisor of Elections Susan Gill last week told DOS officials that a voter who received one of the cure affidavits with the wrong date had also received a call from a number identified as the Tallahassee office of the Florida Democratic Party, an indication the party was reaching out about her vote by mail ballot.

“When I called it, it is the Democratic Party of Florida,” she said in a Nov. 8 email to DOS officials.

She went on to write that she thinks the incorrect date was used because whoever sent the cure affidavit mixed up the deadline for cure affidavits with the deadline for provisional ballots. But, she said, “a bigger problem is the fact they actually changed one of the DOE forms.”

That change to an official election form was what state officials turned over to federal prosecutors.

Another email included in the DOS document dump included correspondence from Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Paul Lux, who also said he believed the affidavits were from the Florida Democratic Party.

But the media will keep on pushing its “accused without evidence” meme anyway.

    November 8, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Last November, Jews For Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ) released Understanding Antisemitism. The bizarre tract had as much in common with the reality of anti-Semitism as Marxism does with economics.

JFREJ, a radical leftist group, claimed that “white Christians” in Europe had “invented anti-Semitism”. That would have come as news to Pharaoh, Haman and Mohammed: in JFREJ’s parlance, “people of color” who had innovated and spread anti-Semitic ideas, while seeking to exterminate the Jews.

“Antisemitism was something European Christians created and brought to the Middle East within the last 150 years,” JFREJ insisted. There was no such thing as Muslim anti-Semitism, the leftist group, which collaborates with Linda Sarsour, a Farrakhan supporter who had urged dehumanizing Jews, insisted.

Black and Muslim anti-Semitism are occasionally justified as a response to white Jewish oppression. But mostly their existence is denied. Racial anti-Semitism, JFREJ insisted, only existed as white supremacy.

JFREJ’s tract whitewashing black and Muslim anti-Semitism was partly funded by Jenny Levison.

Another monstrous example of the left’s unending, immoral infatuation with evil and totalitarianism. My colleagues and I have never been allowed to contribute to the Washington Post. Not even in the aftermath of the jihad attack on my free speech event in Garland, Texas. The Washington Post attacked and criticized me but never gave me an opportunity to rebut their stupidity and cowardice and lies.

Any time our work raises awareness, the Washington Post attacks my colleagues and me. We fight in in the war of ideas for the defense of freedom. We have never incited to violence and murder. And yet the Washington Post smears us with the most disgusting lies and insults while they polish the knob of this savage murderer.

  16. France: Pro-freedom Marine Le Pen’s party overtakes Macron for first time in poll

“Far-right” is a meaningless media smear term given to anyone they don’t like, i.e., anyone who opposes the globalist, socialist, pro-jihad agenda of the political and media elites. Marine Le Pen wants to save France as a free society in which citizens are safe to walk the streets. For that, they call her “far-right.” Wanting to defend one’s own country is now a “far-right” position. This actually amounts to a tacit admission that the media elites who affix this label to defenders of freedom are themselves frankly treasonous. The positions they stigmatize are simply those of basic national security.
