  1. Mexico: Migrant caravan swings into Veracruz state
Thousands of Central American migrants travelling through southern Mexico crossed into Veracruz on Friday.

The group left Matias Romero Avendano in nearby Oaxaca state, before reaching Donaji. Due to the town’s limited capacity, many chose to continue their march towards the Gulf state of Veracruz hitching lifts on passing vehicles.

The Veracruz route, which leads to Texas, avoids a high-altitude climb via Mexico City.

Many migrants have been travelling for more than two weeks, since a group first formed in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They must still travel around 1,600 km (1,000 miles) to reach the US border.

    • Guatemala: Migrants cross into Mexico

A third caravan of migrants crossed the Suchiate River in Tecun Uman on Friday, which marks the border between Mexico and Guatemala.

Some 1,000 to 1,500 people – most of whom are from El Salvador – are now making their way north to the United States.

[…]This is the third migrant caravan to have entered Mexico in recent weeks.

    • RAW: Migrant caravan crosses river from Guatemala into Mexico

A third caravan of migrants waded over the Suchiate River into Mexico on Friday, bringing another 1,000 to 1,500 people who want to reach the US border.

    • How media’s caravan narrative is at odds with reality | David Menzies

On last night’s episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Rebel’s Mission Specialist David Menzies, joined me in a Skype call from Oaxaca, Mexico, to share some of his first-hand observations of the migrant caravan that’s heading north to the U.S. border.

    • CBC – Migrant caravan pushes north, undeterred by threats and warnings

U.S. President Trump’s rhetoric on immigration issues continues to grow harsher.

At campaign events he’s vilifying the migrant caravan, portraying them as hardened criminals.

The reality, though, inside the caravan is one of desperation.

Many are families, exhausted and sick after days of walking, but continue the push north as fast as they can.

    • Lawyer of Asia Bibi flees Pakistan in fear for his life

The lawyer of a Christian woman who spent eight years on death row after being falsely accused of blasphemy has fled Pakistan in fear for his life.

Saif Mulook said he had to leave so he could continue to represent Asia Bibi, whose conviction was overturned by judges on Wednesday.

Mr Mulook told the BBC earlier this week she would need to move to a Western country for her own safety.

Several countries have offered her asylum, however Pakistan’s government has capitulated after days of protests by hardline Islamists and blocked her from leaving the country.

Pakistani Islamists struck a deal with the government that Bibi must not leave Pakistan until the Supreme Court’s ruling is reviewed.

Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri announced that authorities will now not allow Bibi to leave the country until the Supreme Court makes a final review of its verdict. A petition had already been filed for the review.

Bibi had been on death row since 2009 after an argument with a group of women.

They were harvesting fruit when a row broke out about a bucket of water. The women said that because she had used a cup, they could no longer touch it, as her faith had made it unclean.

Asia Bibi was told by the women that she should convert to Islam. She was alleged to have made offensive comments about the Prophet Muhammad in response.

She was arrested following a police probe but the Supreme Court ruled the evidence against her was ‘flimsy’

The case underpins Pakistan’s legal system with hardline politicians backing the death penalty for blasphemy, however critics say the law is often used to get personal revenge.

This well-heeled audience is already sold. Frum plays to the home-town crowd with the massive advantage of a blue-pilled ass in every seat in the auditorium. I haven’t watched it all yet. Need an Advil.

  4. At about 46 min there is a striking error by Frum claiming that the approaching economic problems are Trump made. This is an error because it is an impossibility. The trillions in debt were not able to be incurred under the current admin.

Frum is clever but without meat. He speaks in the mellifluous jargon of an accomplished leftist, not an accomplished conservative. I find him confusing because he chooses time after time to use snide insults rather than clear declarations such as Globalism is bad, or Socialism doesn’t work. Bannon, conversely, tries again and again to cut through the room’s fog.

    Half-way through.

    • CBC – Protests delay Bannon, Frum debate

A large group of protesters delayed the controversial Munk Debate between Steve Bannon and David Frum.

Bannon, a former strategist for U.S. President Donald Trump, and Frum, a strategist and speechwriter for George W. Bush, debated the rise of populism in Western politics.

    • CBC – Steve Bannon, David Frum debate sparks protests and arrests in Toronto

There were “a number of arrests” during a protest in Toronto over an appearance by Steve Bannon, one of the masterminds of U.S. President Donald Trump’s election.

  5. In fact it was on Frum’s watch under Bush that the gates were opened for all that ensued. Who’s side is he on, anyway? What form of “moderate” conservatism does he represent? The kind that has disappeared under Obama and the Clinton’s? The kind that chose vacuous sophistry as PoMos got their grip around the throat of a nation? He was asleep, in fact, and is trying to rehabilitate a political stance that was long lost before he even stepped on this stage.

  6. The final poll of the audience sees Bannon destroy Frum. Frum’s tactic of projection fails miserably. The people see through it.

  7. Bannon changes 29% of the room. Populism is the future. Frum convinces 57% that Globalism, word games, and pretending to be conservative while being a closet accolyte of Obama is no longer in our crystal ball. Sweet.

    • “Some fear GOP is being carried to the extreme”
      by Peter Wallsten – September 14, 2009

      Excerpt:

WASHINGTON — Amid a rebirth of conservative activism that could help Republicans win elections next year, some party insiders now fear that extreme rhetoric and conspiracy theories coming from the angry reaches of the conservative base are undermining the GOP’s broader credibility and casting it as the party of the paranoid.

Such insiders point to theories running rampant on the Internet, such as the idea that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and is thus ineligible to be president, or that he is a communist, or that his allies want to set up Nazi-like detention camps for political opponents. Those theories, the insiders say, have stoked the GOP base and have created a “purist” climate in which a figure such as Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) is lionized for his “You lie!” outburst last week when Obama addressed Congress.

They are “wild accusations and the paranoid delusions coming from the fever swamps,” said David Frum, a conservative author and speechwriter for President George W. Bush who is among the more vocal critics of the party base and of the conservative talk show hosts helping to fan the unrest.

“Like all conservatives, I am concerned about this administration’s accumulation of economic power,” Frum said. “Still, you have to be aware that there’s a line where legitimate concerns begin to collapse into paranoid fantasy.”

Frum and other establishment Republicans have spoken out in recent days against the influence of what they view as their party’s fringe elements.

Some are pressuring the Republican National Committee and other mainstream GOP groups to cut ties with WorldNetDaily.com, which reports some of the allegations. Its articles are cited by websites and pundits on the right. More than any other group, critics say, WorldNetDaily sets the conservative fringe agenda.

Critics charge that the RNC has paid WorldNetDaily for access to its mailing list, estimated to number in the hundreds of thousands, and that the RNC is therefore subsidizing the website’s anti-Obama writings.

  9. Pence says Republicans will keep control of the House

Vice President Pence maintained in an interview with Hill.TV on Friday that Republicans will keep control of the House in next week’s midterm elections.

“I think we’re going to expand our majority in the United States Senate, and I think we’re going to hold our Republican majority in the House of Representatives,” Pence told Hill.TV’s Buck Sexton.

“But that being said, there is certainly common ground in areas that we can work that the president has laid out,” Pence added when asked about working with Democrats if they win the House, citing issues like trade and infrastructure.

“I think there’s a broad range of areas that we’ll be able to work with that Democrat minority in the House and the Senate, and we’ll continue to reach out to do that.”

The comments from Pence, a former six-term House member, came shortly after President Trump acknowledged earlier Friday that Republicans could end up losing control of the lower chamber in Tuesday’s midterms.

  10. In France, spate of homophobic attacks on record are just ‘the tip of the iceberg

An increasing number of victims of anti-LGBT violence in France have spoken out over recent weeks, as rights groups have warned of a spike in attacks and the government has confirmed a 15 percent increase since the start of 2018.

In a photo taken two days after his assault in France’s northern cathedral city of Rouen on October 24, Romain* still bears the marks of the attack. He was ambushed while leaving a nightclub and forced into the back of a car, where “they hit me in the face, all over the body, everywhere – at one point, my head hit the rear window like a bullet […] I thought I was going to die”, this 30-year-old gay man told the site Gayviking.

The Rouen prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on October 29 for kidnapping and homophobic assault.

The attack on Romain is reminiscent on those against Arnaud, in September, and Guillaume, in October, both in Paris. In their cases, as in that of Romain, the photos of their swollen faces were widely shared on social media, giving an impression that the number of and violence experienced during homophobic attacks is increasing.

  11. ICE: Oregon authorities released illegal alien despite detainer; now he is accused of killing his wife
By Daily Caller News Foundation November 3, 2018

An illegal alien in Oregon who was released from county jail seven months ago, despite what immigration authorities say was an active detention request for the suspect, has allegedly killed his wife.

Martin Gallo-Gallardo, 45, is charged with murder in the death of Coral Rodriguez-Lorenzo, 38, whose body was discovered Oct. 28 in Clackamas County, Ore.

The following day, detectives brought in Gallo-Gallardo for questioning, during which he confessed to killing Rodriguez-Lorenzo, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Immigration authorities first discovered that Gallo-Gallardo, a Mexican national, was living in the U.S. illegally in March, when he was arrested by Portland police on felony domestic violence charges. Following the arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a civil immigration detainer on Gallo-Gallardo with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, but he was freed on bail after two days in jail.

  12. If Democrats retake House, it will be due to lies they have peddled about pre-existing conditions
By LU Staff November 3, 2018

As the clock winds down to the midterm elections, Democrats are single-mindedly focused on one hot-button issue: pre-existing conditions. The Democratic machine has convinced the party’s base, along with many independents and even Republicans, that if the GOP retains control of the House of Representatives, Americans will lose the precious protections afforded them by Obamacare — and especially the one that says if you come to an exchange with a past chronic illness, no sweat: You’re covered.

Using this scare tactic as the foundation of a massive PR campaign — From January to July, Dems spent some $17 million for 56,000 health care ads — the party of no has catapulted health care to the number one concern among voters. And they have accomplished this goal by both exaggerating the problem and distorting the Republicans’ approach to health care reform.

    As Investor’s Business Daily notes:

  13. Kavanaugh accuser admits making up claims of sexual assault to ‘get attention’: Media silent
By Howard Portnoy November 3, 2018

So much for the Left’s mantra during the Kavanaugh rape hearings to “believe women” who claim they were victims of sexual assault. A Kavanaugh accuser named Judy Munro-Leighton not only wasn’t assaulted by now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh. She also lied about having been the author an anonymous handwritten “Jane Doe” letter received in September by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) that detailed graphic sexual assault allegations

The letter, which was released with Kavanaugh’s testimony on the Committee’s website on Sept. 26, asserted that Kavanaugh and his friend “sexually assaulted and raped me in his car.” The letter was undated and provided no time frame of the incident. (Sound familiar?)

“Investigators were able to find Munro-Leighton due to her ‘relatively unique name,’ and determined she resided in Kentucky, Business Insider reports. “According to their findings, they deduced that she was what they described as a ‘left-wing activist,’ who is ‘decades older than Judge Kavanaugh.’”

  15. Mexican drug cartels continue to be the greatest criminal drug threat to the U.S., federal authorities stated in one of their latest reports. Federal agencies reported that drug cartels in Mexico continue to be the wholesale sources of drugs for street gangs that in turn push narcotics at the local level.
The finding comes in the 2018 National Drug Threat Assessment just released by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). During the past 10 years, the drug landscape has changed with the dramatic increase of opioids, the DEA report stated. The agency claims that drug poisoning deaths typically tied to overdose or to emerging drugs like fentanyl are spiking. In 2016, approximately 174 people died every day from drug poisoning. These deaths outnumber those caused by firearms, motor vehicle crashes, suicide, and homicide. The agency reported that the U.S. opioid threat — including controlled prescription drugs, fentanyl, and other synthetic opioids, and heroin — has had a devastating effect.

The DEA identifies the Sinaloa Cartel, Jalisco New Generation Cartel, the Gulf Cartel, Los Zetas, Beltran Leyva, and the Juarez Cartel as the criminal organizations responsible for flooding U.S. streets with narcotics. Mexican drug cartels are listed as having deep connections with Colombian drug cartels and with U.S.-based street gangs leading to an established distribution line.

  16. MADRID (AP) – Spanish police say they have busted a crime ring that cloned credit cards and was headed by a man who had previously been found guilty of helping finance the September 11th attacks in 2001.
Police said Saturday they have arrested 19 people, including a 49-year-old Algerian man who had served a prison sentence in Spain for using cloned credit cards to help fund the 2001 attacks in the U.S. Police would not reveal the name of the individual.

All 19 suspected members of the ring were arrested in Madrid.

The group spent 500,000 euros (569,000 dollars) on the fake credit cards it made by cloning authentic cards before the ring was broken up, according to police.

  18. SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A political Halloween decoration has people in Shelbyville outraged. An unknown person hung a dummy from a tree at the corner of 130 and Snell Road. The dummy had a GOP outfit on, a white dunce hat, and a Marsha Blackburn sign hanging from it. Under that, there’s a sign reading “Stop the Hate.”

Billy Grimes has lived in Shelbyville for eight years. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted the dummy eerily swaying in the breeze as he drove across a bridge.

  19. Federal immigration officials say Oregon authorities prevented them from detaining for deportation an illegal immigrant from Mexico who is now charged in the brutal stabbing death of his wife, whose body was found in a ditch Sunday.

The case marks the latest dispute between federal authorities and Oregon over the state’s “sanctuary” laws regarding illegal immigrants.

The suspect, identified as Martin Gallo-Gallardo, 45, had been released in March by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office after prosecutors dismissed assault allegations against him. His wife and daughter stopped cooperating and a grand jury refused to indict him, FOX 12 Oregon reported.

The body of his wife, Coral Rodriguez-Lorenzo, 38, of Portland, was found near the Sandy River in the Bull Run-Sandy area east of Portland. She had been stabbed multiple times, authorities said.

He is said to have locked the door to the classroom, held the teacher and forcibly pushed her further into the room where he allegedly carried out sexual acts equivalent to rape, the TT news agency reported.

  24. WASHINGTON, D.C., October 30, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Thousands of formerly liberal Americans descended on the District of Columbia Saturday to take part in the #WalkAway Campaign’s first march on Washington to declare their independence from the Democrat Party.

Launched earlier this year by New York actor and hair stylist Brandon Straka, a homosexual man who describes himself as a “former liberal,” the #WalkAway Campaign argues that the modern Left, and the party with which it aligns, have abandoned principles such as tolerance, equality, and open discussion that attracted people there in the first place.

The campaign’s primary means of promoting its message has been via written and video testimonials from former Democrats of various backgrounds explaining their political evolutions. In a little over a month it attracted tens of thousands of Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube followers, with the October 27 march meant to be its biggest statement yet.

The plans to remove the guard posts and jointly use the Han River estuary were among the commitments spelled out in the military agreement reached last month on the sidelines of a summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

After penning an op-ed for The New York Times decrying the ideological homogeneity of his campus administration, a conservative-leaning professor at Sarah Lawrence College discovered intimidating messages—including demands that he quit his job—on the door of his office. The perpetrators had torn down the door’s decorations, which had included pictures of the professor’s family.

In the two weeks since the incident, Samuel Abrams, a tenured professor of politics at Sarah Lawrence, has repeatedly asked the college’s president, Cristle Collins Judd, to condemn the perpetrators’ actions and reiterate her support for free speech. But after sending a tepid campus-wide email that mentioned the importance of free expression, but mostly stressed her “commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence,” Judd spoke with Abrams over the phone; according to him, she accused him of “attacking” members of the community.

Haq’s son, Hamidul Haq, said his father was alone in his bedroom when he was attacked by an assailant, who escaped undetected.

“My father has been martyred. He was alone at his home. His guard had gone out minutes before the attack and upon his return he saw my father in critical condition,” he told reporters.

Police say Haq, 81, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

AKORA KHATTAK, Pakistan – Thousands of mourners have attended the funeral of a prominent Pakistani cleric who was killed in a knife attack at his home in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Maulana Samiul Haq’s son, Hamidul Haq, led his father’s funeral prayer Saturday in the town of Akora Khattak in the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan.

Haq, the head of his faction of the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam party, was killed Friday.

He was a revered teacher with influence over Pakistani militants and Afghanistan’s Taliban, many of whose leaders and commanders studied a strict interpretation of Islam at his Haqqani seminary, earning him the title of “father of the Taliban.”

In recent weeks, Afghan clerics had appealed to Haq to use his influence on Afghanistan’s Taliban to ensure peace there.

  32. Belgian Police Chief Asks Why He Should Stop Illegal Migrants from Going to Britain (breitbart, Nov 3, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/03/flemish-police-chief-asks-why-he-cannot-let-migrants-go-britain/

“The chief of police in the Flemish municipality of Kruibeke has questioned why he should keep migrants from travelling to the UK when they do not want to remain in Belgium.

Already in August, police chief Wim Pieteraerens said that his officers would not seek to detain migrants who were travelling through his country and instead only took their fingerprint information before letting them go.

Now, according to Pieteraerens, the situation has further deteriorated, with more migrants arriving and becoming more determined to reach Britain, RTL reports.

“Migrants in transit do not want to stay here and we do not want them either, maybe it’s a bit of a short-term solutioon, but why do not we let them go to England?” Pieteraerens asked.

The comments were met with criticism from Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Theo Francken, who highlighted the fact that the government opened a reception centre for migrants in Steenokkerzeel meant to hold 200 migrants…”

  33. Women in Migrant-heavy Paris Area Complain Harassment Getting Even Worse (breitbart, Nov 3, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/03/women-in-migrant-heavy-paris-area-complain-harassment-getting-even-worse/

“Women living in a heavily migrant-populated Paris area who complained about constant harassment from men last year are saying the situation has become even worse, with some refusing to even leave their homes.

Last year a group of local women signed a petition in an attempt to call attention to the situation in the Chapelle-Pajol district in northern Paris, but now they claim the situation has become even worse than before, Le Parisien reports.

“The situation has worsened. Of course, since these men are more and more numerous. Like many others, I gave up taking the metro to La Chapelle, to cross the square … Even at a running pace,” a local woman who did not wish to be identified said.

“And do not talk about cafes. They do not say ‘Women Prohibited’ on the front, of course, but who would risk it? The police are more present, it’s true, but the fights are also more and more numerous and violent. I have the impression that these traffickers won the game: they took possession of the place,” she added.

Others have referred to the area as “Hell” due to the rampant criminality, with Loïc Guezo, president of the association Demain la Chapelle describing the change in the area over the past several years: “In just a few years, what was an island of tranquility has become an area of lawlessness, where the criminal activity grows and hardens,” he said.

“Trafficking and illegal trade began to set in 2014 and 2015 near the first camp of migrants in Paris, installed at that time Boulevard de la Chapelle,” Guezo added.

Despite increased police presence in the area, there has been little sign of crime slowing down, with officers stopping and searching 2618 individuals in the first eight months of 2018 and arresting 226. The summer also saw increased violence in the area with five mass brawls involving traffickers armed with knives and iron bars.

So far, despite optimism from some local politicians, no solution has come to the problem of criminality in the area, although Paris police have made some progress tackling Moroccan underage gangs after co-operating with Moroccan police.”
