  1. Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-60B) currently leads the race to fill the federal House seat being vacated by Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN). Immediately after being elected to her current seat in 2016, Omar faced allegations — soon backed by a remarkable amount of evidence — that she had married her own brother in 2009, and was still legally his wife. They officially divorced in December 2017.

The motivation for the marriage remains unclear. However, the totality of the evidence points to possible immigration fraud and student loan fraud.

Rep. Omar has stated that she did marry “British citizen” Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, though the allegation that he is her brother is “absurd and offensive.”

Below, exclusive new evidence — from official archived high school records and corroborating sources — strongly supports the claim that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is indeed her brother.

  2. The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee has given France six months to revise its ban on the full face veil in public, ruling the law to be “oppressive” against Muslims.
A panel of 18 “experts” made the judgment on Tuesday, claiming that the 2010 law, which states that “no one may, in a public space, wear any article of clothing intended to conceal the face”, had “violated” the human rights of two Muslim women fined by France in 2012 for wearing the niqab.

Chairman Yuval Shany said that while he and “many” of his peers on the panel personally see the garment as “a form of oppression against women”, the human rights committee considered that a general ban on wearing the niqab in public was “too sweeping” and “disproportionately harmed the petitioners’ right to manifest their religious beliefs”.

  3. A young woman has been charged by federal authorities in Birmingham with attempting to provide support and resources to terrorist organization al Qaeda.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges Tuesday against 22-year-old Alaa Mohd Abusaad. The joint announcement was made by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, Northern District of Alabama U.S Attorney Jay E. Town and Birmingham FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr.

Abusaad, who had been living in Tuscaloosa, was taken into custody Tuesday in Ohio. According to authorities, Abusaad instructed a female undercover FBI informant how to send money to the mujahedeen – fighters engaged in jihad – saying money was always needed. “You can’t have a war without weapons,’’ Abusaad told the informant. “You can’t prepare a soldier without equipment.”

Federal records said the investigation began in February when Abusaad was introduced to the informant by another person. At that point, according to the criminal complaint, Abusaad and the informant began communicating through a mobile messaging app.

  4. Facebook Silences Jair Bolsonaro’s ‘Main Network’ of Supporters Days Before Brazil Runoff Election

Facebook has reportedly blacklisted accounts and pages from the “main network of support” for right-wing Brazilian Presidential Candidate Jair Bolsonaro less than a week before Brazil’s runoff election on Sunday.

Reuters reports that Facebook has shut down 68 pages and 43 accounts linked to the Brazilian marketing group Raposo Fernandes Associados (RFA) for violating the website’s rules related to spam. The Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo has claimed that the marketing group has been one of the biggest support networks for right-wing Brazilian Presidential Candidate Jair Bolsonaro.

Facebook said that RFA created Facebook pages using multiple accounts or fake accounts with the same name and posted multiple clickbait style links which lead to “ad-farming” websites. Facebook said in a statement: “Our decision to remove these pages was based on the behavior of these actors – including using fake accounts and repeatedly posting spam – rather than on the type of content they were posting.”

Facebook has claimed that the removal of RFA’s pages and accounts had been part of the many actions they have taken “to prevent bad actors from interfering with Brazil’s elections on Facebook.” Brazils leftist presidential contender, Fernando Haddad of the Workers Party, has claimed that the Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp was being used to spread spam and misinformation surrounding the election.

Haddad has claimed that Bolsonaro’s supporters used the platform to spread misinformation and fake news. Haddad has also claimed that businessmen supporting Bolsonaro have paid to flood the platform with misleading propaganda, violating federal election law, a claim which Bolsonaro denies. WhatsApp has stated that they take these claims very seriously and had “taking immediate legal action to stop companies from sending bulk messages.”

Bolsonaro leads Haddad by 18 points in the latest polls and is expected to win Sunday’s election after taking up 46 percent of the vote in the first round of elections two weeks ago. Bolsonaro has been unable to campaign publicly after a public attack in which he was stabbed in the abdomen, as a result, he has conducted his campaign largely online. He currently has 14 million followers across social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, compared to just 2.8 million for Haddad.

  5. Four Local Members of White Supremacy Group Face Federal Charges in Attacks at Political Rallies across California
LOS ANGELES – Four Southern California men who allegedly are members of a white supremacy extremist group have been named in a federal criminal complaint that charges them of travelling to political rallies across California, where they violently attacked counter-protesters, journalists and a police officer.

Three of the four defendants are now in custody, and authorities are continuing to search for the fourth defendant.

The criminal complaint unsealed today alleges that the four defendants are members of the Southern California-based “Rise Above Movement” (RAM) and that they used the internet “with the intent to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on riots.”

The four RAM members allegedly engaged in a series of violent attacks at political rallies in 2017, including events in Huntington Beach, Berkeley and San Bernardino.

The affidavit in support of the complaint alleges that the men used the internet to coordinate “combat training,” attendance and travel prior to the events, and then to “celebrate their acts of violence in order to recruit members for future events.”

  7. At Least 19 Killed, 10 Injured in Saudi-Led Coalition Air Raid in Yemen – Report (sputniknews, Oct 24, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201810251069188572-yemen-saudi-led-coalition-air-raid-casualties/

“At least 19 people have been killed and 10 others wounded by the US-Saudi air strikes on Yemen’s western city of Bayt al Faqih located in the vicinity of the port city of Al Hudaydah on Wednesday, local media reported.

The air raid had been held hours after the previous strikes that killed three civilians, including a minor child, and injured six other people, the Masirah TV channel reported.

A recent UN report said Saudi-led coalition airstrikes – which have hit open-air markets, health clinics, schools, funerals and weddings, according to published reports — have been blamed for most of more than 16,000 civilians killed or injured in the Yemen conflict over the past three years.

The Saudi-led international coalition has been carrying air strikes in Yemen in support of the country’s government, fighting against the rebel Houthi group since 2015. Both sides have been accused by international organizations and rights groups of committing hostilities against the Yemeni civilians.

UN Humanitarian Coordinator Mark Lowcock said Tuesday that Yemen is on the brink of a famine the likes of which have never been seen before…”

      No. Not our strikes.

Though Putin’s got a score to settle, with Wahhabis in general and al-Jubeir in particular. He’s the one who personally threatened massive terror at the Sochi Olympics if Vlad continued with Assad. Putin said: ‘I dare you.’ The KSA backed off. Ugly.

Al-Jubeir’s not doing such a good job these days anyway. Why not finger him for Khashoggi? Chop-chop.

  8. The UN condemns hijab ban in France.

Are they condemning the forced wearing of hijab in Iran? If not, why not?

Masih Alinejad founded the campaign “My Stealthy Freedom” in 2014, which advocates against women being forced to wear the compulsory hijab in public in Iran. The enforcement of a compulsory dress code for women in Iran violates their rights to private life, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression, as well as to freedom of religion, thought, and conscience. It is also a form of gender-based discrimination prohibited under international law.

Is Ms. Alinejad right or is she wrong?

    https://thedefensepost.com/2018/10/24/france-repatriate-isis-foreign-fighter-children/

“France is seeking to repatriate some of the 150 children of French jihadists identified as being in Syria, as Western nations grapple with how to handle citizens who left to join extremists.

A French official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said France would repatriate the children “as much as is possible, on the condition that the mother agrees.”

“We’re starting to look at how this might work,” the source added.

French authorities only have a precise location for some of the children, making these the only viable cases for potential repatriation, the source said, declining to give figures.

The cases of the 150 youngsters, some of whom are being held in Syrian Democratic Forces camps in northern Syria since Islamic State was driven from the area, were flagged up by authorities there or by their families in France.

Most are under six years old and were born in Syria.

The mothers of any repatriated children would be left in Syria, the source said…”

  11. US renews call on Pakistan to cut off extremists (gulfnews, Oct 24, 2018)
    https://gulfnews.com/news/asia/pakistan/us-renews-call-on-pakistan-to-cut-off-extremists-1.2293469

“Washington, D.C.: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday renewed calls on Pakistan to curb extremists fighting in Afghanistan, saying Washington was holding its uneasy war partner accountable.

Pompeo made the comment as he welcomed long-delayed legislative elections in Afghanistan, saying the United States was “encouraged” by voter turnout, despite reports of widespread problems including poll centers that failed to open or lacked voter rolls.

“Our expectation is that Pakistan will not provide safe harbor to terrorists on their western border,” Pompeo told reporters when asked about Islamabad’s role.

“We couldn’t have made that message any more clear,” he said, adding: “Pakistan will be held to account if they don’t achieve that, if they’re not sincere in that effort.”

“Everyone wants a reconciliation in Afghanistan and to achieve that, you can’t have a safe harbor for Taliban, for Haqqani and for others inside of Pakistan,” he said, listing extremist movements fighting in Afghanistan.

President Donald Trump’s administration last month cut $300 million (Dh1.1 billion) in military aid to Pakistan after years of US complaints that Islamabad has kept nurturing ties with militants that target both Afghanistan and rival India.

Pakistan has countered that it has paid a heavy price internally for fighting militants and that it can help bring the Taliban to the table.

A Taliban delegation earlier this month met in Qatar with a US envoy. Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Imran Khan is a longstanding supporter of negotiations to end the war in Afghanistan, where the United States has been deployed since 2001.”

  12. Turkey wants exemption from US sanctions on Iran: FM (hurriyetdailynews, Oct 24, 2018)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-wants-exemption-from-us-sanctions-on-iran-fm-138218

“Turkey has conveyed to the U.S. that its sanctions on Iran that will come into effect on Nov. 4 is “unilateral,” Turkish foreign minister said on Oct. 24.

Speaking exclusively to Anadolu Agency, Mevlut Çavu?o?lu said the U.S. is implementing sanctions on Iran “unilaterally” and Japan, Asia, the EU countries and Turkey are against it.

In May, U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew Washington from a 2015 landmark nuclear deal between Iran and the P5 1 group of nations – the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany.

Trump began to reinstate U.S. sanctions on Tehran in August, with sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector set to retake effect on Nov. 4.

The sanctions are expected to impact Iranian oil exports, which provide Tehran with the revenue needed to finance its national budget.

European Union countries along with Turkey have condemned Trump’s action, vowing to find ways to bypass the re-imposed sanctions.

“We have conveyed (to the U.S.) our necessary demands to get exemption on this issue,” Çavu?o?lu stressed.

Çavu?o?lu said President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an had previously mentioned that Turkey is taking natural gas from Russia and Iran and if it does not have more options, the country would have to continue taking gas from those two countries.

He said the U.S. took a decision, but it affects everyone.

“You can take a decision, but why do you want to punish other companies and countries? It is not a decision of the UN Security Council,” Çavu?o?lu said.

He said Turkey has already told the U.S. that the latter’s decisions are unilateral and when the countries do not comply with it, the credibility of the U.S. will be harmed.

“Therefore, before taking steps on these issues, you have to consult especially with the countries of the region. You have to consult with the countries doing trade with Iran,” he said.

Çavu?o?lu said that the U.S. has withdrawn from the nuclear deal with Iran unilaterally, but the European countries did not withdraw.

“It means that they value this deal,” he added.”

  13. Turkey prevents irregular migration of 430,000 in 2018 (hurriyetdailynews, Oct 24, 2018)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-prevents-irregular-migration-of-430-000-in-2018-138223

“Irregular migration of 430,000 people in 2018 have been prevented as a result of Turkey’s improved security measures, according to security sources.

Border guards in southern Hatay province, which borders Syria’s Idlib, Afrin and Latakia regions, conduct 24-hour foot patrols along the border.

Apart from the 2.5-meter high security wall -90 percent of which has been completed- along the border, technological devices, such as thermal cameras, lighting and motion sensor systems, drones and surveillance cameras also help prevent irregular migration.

In first nine months of 2018, the border guards detained around 200,000 Syrians crossing to Turkey and referred them to the gendarmerie forces for required processes, said the sources who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

During the security investigations, nearly 100 of the migrants, who were found to have links to terror groups or that were involved in criminal activities, were also referred to judicial authorities.

The security forces also prevented another 230,000 people’s illegal entrance to Turkey.

State of the art vehicles produced by domestic and national facilities, such as underground and surface motion detector systems, as well as cameras allowing sight even in foggy weather, made a great contribution to the prevention of irregular migration.

Acoustic detectors installed underground strengthened the mobility of security forces by detecting border violations and possible tunnel digging activities along with movements of human and vehicles.

    Coast Guard rescues 48 migrants

On a related note, at least 48 irregular migrants have been rescued off Turkey’s western coast on Oct. 24.

The migrants, including 15 women and three children, requested help from the Turkish Coast Guard when their rubber boat started taking in water off the Urla district of ?zmir province.

Among the migrants were nationals of Congo, Central Africa, Senegal and Palestine.

Turkey has been a main route for irregular migrants trying to cross into Europe, especially since 2011 when the Syrian civil war began.”

  14. UK: Speaker slams far-right figure’s Parliament dinner (AA, Oct 24, 2018)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/uk-speaker-slams-far-right-figures-parliament-dinner/1292230

“The founder and former leader of an anti-Muslim group who dined this week at parliament is a “loathsome, obnoxious, repellent individual,” the speaker of the House of Commons said Wednesday, distancing himself from the invitation.

John Bercow’s comments came following criticism from some lawmakers over Tommy Robinson, founder of the far-right English Defence League (EDL), being invited to a dinner at the British parliament on Tuesday.

Scottish National Party (SNP) MP Stewart Malcolm McDonald directed a question about the reports that Robinson had been invited to parliament by UK Independence Party (UKIP) peer Lord Pearson.

McDonald blasted the Islamophobic far-right figure as a “violent racist thug and fraudster.”

“I understand that sometimes we have to engage in views that one might not agree with, but surely the fact that a man who is as guilty as he is on stirring up racial hatred, organizing violent, thuggish crimes around the country, setting up the EDL and everything that comes with it crosses a line, and such a person should not be invited to walk amongst us on the parliamentary estate,” said McDonald.

Robinson is a far-right figure known in the U.K. for his anti-Islamic views and campaigns.

“First, I share his assessment of the individual concerned – a loathsome, obnoxious, repellent individual, and I make no bones about my view being the same as his on that front,” Bercow responded.

He said people being invited to the Lords was “outside of my remit,” advising McDonald to write to the House of Lords speaker, Lord Fowler, about the issue.

The invitation of Robinson to parliament by Lord Pearson, former UKIP leader — also known for his anti-Muslim sentiments — was also condemned by Labour MP Wes Streeting.

“Lord Pearson has disgraced himself by inviting convicted criminal and hate-monger Stephen Yaxley-Lennon into parliament for a slap-up lunch,” Streeting said, using Robinson’s given name.

“This country fought a world war to defeat Hitler’s fascism, not to see the red carpet rolled out for the far right,” he added.

Another Labour MP, Lloyd Russell-Moyle, also slammed the invitation.

Speaking to the PoliticsHome website, the Labour MP said “the views of Tommy Robinson have no place” in the British parliament.

“The fact the British taxpayer has had to pay for him to be dining a right-wing extremist in the House of Lords is nothing short of an outrage,” he added.

He said: “The both of them [Robinson and Pearson] belong on the fringes of British society and not in our nation’s parliament.

    – UKIP’s far-right initiative

Britain’s once-populist UK Independence Party (UKIP) last month took a big leap into becoming a racist far-right movement with a manifesto full of anti-Islamic plans.

The so-called “interim manifesto,” unveiled during UKIP’s autumn conference, contains plans for all-Muslim prisons, enhanced screening for migrants from Islamic countries, and plans to scrap a swathe of equality and anti-racism laws in the U.K.

The party claims extremism is “actively fostered” in jails, where “Muslim gangs hold sway” and “non-Islamic prisoners are converting for their own protection.”

The document is understood to have taken from the far-right EDL and Britain First movements’ policies, as it also calls for a national inquiry into the so-called grooming gangs, which it describes as “one of the greatest social scandals in English history”.

The sharper shift to the far-right of the party began under the presidency of Gerard Batten, who allied himself with former EDL leader Robinson after taking over the helm from Henry Bolton this April.

Last month Batten also insulted the Prophet Mohammad at a rally organized by the Democratic Football Lads Alliance (DFLA), an anti-Muslim movement formed by far-right hooligans.

Speaking to the British press, the party’s ex-leader Nigel Farage warned that Batten needs “to be careful what company he keeps.””

Hundreds of protesters demonstrated against Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Enkheim near Frankfurt on Wednesday, as the party’s Frankfurt branch held its election campaign final meeting.

The protest was organised by the political organisations “No AfD in state parliament” and “Standup against racism RheinMain.”

  16. United Nations must be reformed: President Erdogan (AA, Oct 24, 2018)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/todays-headlines/united-nations-must-be-reformed-president-erdogan/1292467

“Reform of the United Nations is needed which cannot be delayed, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said late Wednesday

Erdogan underscored this point in a message on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the UN through a statement released by the presidential press center.

“The need for reform at the UN, which was established 73 years ago — especially the Security Council, which is responsible for ensuring global peace and security — cannot be delayed or ignored,” he said in his message.

The UN Charter came into force on Oct. 24, 1945 and is celebrated annually as United Nations Day. In 1971, the UN General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by member states as a public holiday.

“Today, humanity is faced with a wide range of serious threats, from climate change to ethnic cleansing, from starvation to xenophobia, from epidemics to terrorism. It is not possible for any country to fight these problems on its own, which threaten humanity’s common future and disrupt the search for global justice,” Erdogan said.

“In this sense, the UN is the most important platform that can produce sustainable solutions to the common problems of humanity despite the setbacks of recent years. Previous massacres in Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and the civil war in Syria for the last eight years are the most concrete indications that the Security Council has failed to fulfill its responsibilities. That is why we call for urgent reform.”

Recalling his famous slogan “the world is bigger than five”, a reference to the five permanent Security Council members — China, France, Russia, the UK and the United States — he asked:

“As long as the current injustice at the UN Security Council is not fixed, will it be possible to establish world peace and to achieve complete UN reform successfully?”

Erdogan said Turkey would continue to offer support for reform, which he said would turn the UN into a more “fair, democratic, transparent, effective and accountable” structure.

“Turkey, under the auspices of UN mediation, takes a leading role in many activities such as peacekeeping operations, counter-terrorism, humanitarian and development assistance, migration and refugees.

“Our country is also taking steps to make Istanbul a UN center and continues to work on the transfer of many regional offices of several UN agencies to Istanbul. I wish the UN organization to bring peace and prosperity to our world, and I sincerely congratulate the UN on United Nations Day,” he added.”

“BEIRUT, OCTOBER 24 – A video showing the cold-blooded killing of a girl reportedly under age 18 by her brother in northern Syria has sparked indignation on social media.

The girl was allegedly shot and killed for ”having stained the family’s honor”. According to the Arabic website of the BBC, the alleged ‘honor killing’ occurred in Jarablus, near the Turkish border in an area under the control of Syrian opposition fighters allied with Ankara.

The girl’s name was reportedly Rasha Bassis. The video shows a girl curled up next to a wall who is shot repeatedly by a man while a voice yells ”shoot! Wash your honor!”.

The exact circumstances of the girl’s killing cannot be verified. So-called ‘honor killings’ are widespread in many Arab countries and other areas, where it is seen as an attenuating circumstance in courts. (ANSAmed).”
