  1. There’s a war to make gentrified Oak Park black again. A ‘racist’ coffeehouse is the latest target

GOPUSA Staff Sacramento Bee 11:40 am October 8, 20185 comments

Twenty years ago, the corner of Broadway and 35th Street in Oak Park was known in Sacramento for drugs, prostitution and not much else. Then along came Kevin Johnson, newly retired from the NBA, who decided to turn two buildings on the long-neglected block into an art and cultural center, anchored by a coffee shop.

He called it 40 Acres, as in the “40 acres and a mule” that were promised, but never delivered to freed slaves after the Civil War. He thought that it would transform the poor, mostly black neighborhood where he grew up. And it has — so much so that the neighborhood is no longer poor or mostly black.

Such is the predictable story of gentrification. So, it’s sadly amusing and ironic, if not surprising, that we’ve reached the chapter in which Black Lives Matter is promising to protest that coffee shop at 40 Acres, Old Soul.

On Oct. 12, activists plan to host an open-mic night on the courtyard across from where customers will surely be sipping on expensive, caffeinated beverages. The theme? “Make Oak Park Black Again,” of course.

  2. HS Band halftime show depicts police at gunpoint, stirs anger

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A high school band’s halftime performance depicting police being held at gunpoint is fueling anger in a Mississippi city where two police officers were recently slain.

Pictures of the Forest Hill High School band’s performance circulated on social media Saturday, showing students dressed as medical personnel holding SWAT team members at gunpoint as the band played. The performance took place Friday at a football game between Forest Hill and Brookhaven High School, just days after two Brookhaven officers were killed while responding to reports of shots fired at a home.

Jackson Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Greene apologized Saturday in a statement and acknowledged the skit was “insensitive.” Greene said the performance was based loosely on the movie, “John Q,” and depicted a hostage scene that included toy guns. In the movie, a father portrayed by Denzel Washington takes hospital staff and patients hostage as he tries to force doctors to do a life-saving transplant on his son, a procedure that his insurance won’t cover.

“JPS has a great deal of respect and appreciation for our law enforcement partners,” Greene said. “The band’s performance does not depict the values and people in our community, and was incredibly insensitive to the students, families, law enforcement officials and the entire Brookhaven community. For this we sincerely apologize to all, and we pledge to do better in the future.”

      • You are right, it is designed to make the kids distrust the police and to get them to help attack the police. In many ways actions like this are more dangerous then the attacks on the police, this action is poisoning the minds of a lot of kids.

        • It is.
It’ll leave a mark. Some red-diaper babies saw the light but continue to suffer chronic red-diaper-rash.

Some kids will always have fond memories of school days spent practicing slogans and screaming obscenities at authority figures. Days of wine & roses: no borders on fundamentally antisocial behavior.

“In the Hadith, the Day of Judgment will never happen until you fight the Jews,” Hatem Bazian reportedly declared, “until the trees and stones will say, oh Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me. Come and kill him!”

    That was in 1999.

Two years later, Bazian had co-founded Students for Justice in Palestine. Three years later, 79 members of his new SJP hate group were busted for disrupting a Holocaust Remembrance Day event.

At a rally to protest their arrests, Bazian told the mob to look at all the Jewish names on the buildings, “take a look at the type of names on the building around campus — Haas, Zellerbach — and decide who controls this university.”

    Time hasn’t mellowed Bazian.

A lecturer at the UK’s Lincoln University, Michael Blackburn, has been accused of “Islamophobic” tweets, and the predictable controversy has ensued. Blackburn has deactivated his Twitter account, but that isn’t enough for the slavering academic mob – they want his head, just as they want the head of anyone and everyone who dares to say anything that even comes close to the truth about the jihad threat.

According to the Lincoln Tab, Blackburn is not a one-time offender, but a habitual criminal: “Between 2012-2018 Michael Blackburn, who teaches English at Lincoln University, tweeted a series of Islamophobic and anti-feminist tweets. One said: ‘If the left hadn’t told me the EDL were the real threat I would have carried on thinking it was machete-wielding, Koran-quoting Muslims.’ More recently in 2017, the English lecturer said: ‘I know the media haven’t told us but I suspect these terror attacks were carried out by Muslims because of Islam.’”

Let’s see. Which group has been responsible for more terror attacks in the UK? The EDL or machete-wielding, Qur’an-quoting Muslims? Which group is part of a global network of terror groups that has vowed to destroy the West and establish states ruled by its law in the ruins? The EDL or machete-wielding, Qur’an-quoting Muslims? Which group is part of a larger grouping that has called repeatedly for lone wolf terror attacks against civilians in the UK and elsewhere? The EDL or machete-wielding, Qur’an-quoting Muslims?

  5. Germans Once Again Aiding a Genocidal Regime
Appeasing the murderous Mullahs at Israel’s expense.

Germany’s current efforts to maintain its trade with Iran evokes memories of the early 1960’s, when West German scientists, many of whom worked for Hitler’s Third Reich, developed rockets for Egypt’s dictator Gamal Abdul Nasser, aiming to destroy the Jewish state. That was barely 18 years after the Holocaust, perpetrated by Nazi Germany against European Jewry. The likes of Dr. Wolfgang Pilz, who helped Werner Von Braun develop the V1 and V2 rockets which terrorized Britain during WWII, was among those scientists seeking to help the Egyptian dictator “finish off the Jews.” Others included Eugen Saenger, who worked the last years of the Third Reich developing the world’s first jet-fighter, and rocket man Paul Goercke, to name a few. They developed the “Al Kahir” Egyptian rocket with a range of 370 miles, a range that included all of Israel.

Now, the German government, under the leadership of Chancellor Angela Merkel, is aiding and abetting the theocratic regime of the Ayatollahs, also known as the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose declared goal is to obliterate the Jewish state. As a fresh reminder to Merkel of Germany’s role in providing Israel’s enemies with the means to potentially destroy the Jewish state, Iran launched missiles into Syria which carried the meter-long inscription “Death to Israel and Death to the USA.” Iran retaliated for the attack on its military parade last week in the city of Ahwaz, which killed 25 people. Ahwaz is the capital of Khuzestan, where its Arab majority is in a state of rebellion against its occupation by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

  6. Trump-Bashing Leftist Forced to Apologize for Using Churchill to Bash Trump

Maybe quoting Hitler would suit them better?

If Scott Kelly looks familiar to you, it’s because his brother, Mark Kelly, is married to Gabrielle Giffords, and together they’ve been pushing gun control. Kelly’s own Twitter feed is a Comey-esque assemblage of pseudo-inspirational stuff with the prog “for decency’s sake” brand of Trump-bashing. But there’s no room for even feigned decency, inspiration and patriotism in today’s left.

So shortly Scott had to apologize for using a Churchill quote to bash Trump. Not for bashing Trump, but for the Churchill quote.

  8. ‘COLBERT’ Writer On Kavanaugh: ‘I’m Just Glad We Ruined His Life’

The confirmation hearings on Brett Kavanaugh were disgusting, driven by Democrats who held a vicious 36-year-old allegation of sexual assault against the Supreme Court nominee until the 11th hour and then set about tearing down a good man who’d work his whole life to achieve his dreams of serving on the high court.

And that was always their intention. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) had a letter from the accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, all the way back in July, yet she never mentioned the alleged assault until the Senate Judiciary Committee was set to vote on the nomination in mid-September. Once she divulged the allegation (never corroborated by even a single witness, mind you), Democrats encouraged equally-scurrilous charges against the judge, including those brought by porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti.

  10. The MSM Want Kavanaugh To Suffer Long After His Confirmation
    2 days ago

The hit jobs will continue throughout Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s career.

Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts in a private ceremony, accompanied by his wife and children. The ceremonial swearing-in is expected to happen on Monday evening. That means that now Justice Brett Kavanaugh will begin hearing cases on Tuesday.

Thank you, Susan Collins, for not caving in to the Left’s bullying and threats. Now that Justice Brett Kavanaugh is sworn in we can’t stop here. We need to get out and vote like in 2016. We need to show the Democrats we don’t need to use violence and hate to accomplish we want.
take our poll – story continues below

Will Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed to the Supreme Court?

    Washington Examiner:

The battle over Brett Kavanaugh is almost over. It looks like he gets his lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court, but oh, have the news media made him pay for it.

It was always a problem for Kavanaugh that he was the one chosen to fill the crucial swing seat on the court (even more of a problem that he was a white man), but now that Democrats and their media friends have run out of ways to delay his confirmation, the obituaries have been written.

The press, meanwhile, is turning Christine Blasey Ford into a hero for coming forward with her claim that couldn’t be corroborated, even by a good friend that Ford said was at the house where it happened.

Kavanaugh, on the other hand, is the untouchable. (And don’t forget that he’s a white man — ew!)

Thursday evening, when it was clear Kavanaugh was likely headed for confirmation, the liberal New York Times editorial board said everyone involved in the process, even Democrats, had “failed.”

Everyone except Ford, who the Times said “presented the one image of dignity and calm in this howling maelstrom.”

And Kavanaugh, because he reacted emotionally at his hearing last week to accusations of inappropriate conduct, blackout drunkenness, and involvement in gang rapes, was, according to the Times, “a jerk.” More

We shouldn’t expect anything else from the MSM. They are the enemy. After the swearing in of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, there are many lunatic liberals wandering the streets, seething with repressed anger. These tortured souls may present a danger to public safety. Though widespread violence is not anticipated, isolated acts of childish anger may take place.

More handiwork from the treasonous party of criminals and destroyers. Only a small number of trusted staffers have the Senators’ cell phone numbers, so the perpetrator here ought to be easy enough to discover. Pure evil.

  12. Trump goes full Alinsky in the midterm race
    By Thomas Lifson
Fifty years after left-wing riots during the Chicago Democratic National Convention handed an election issue and victory to Richard M. Nixon, the left has handed a similar opportunity to President Trump in his efforts to maintain control of the House of Representatives and enhance the GOP Senate majority.

Even before the disgraceful demonstrations on Saturday, with fanatics in the Senate Gallery sequentially screaming in an effort to disrupt a vote whose outcome they didn’t like, and before demonstrators broke through police lines and pounded on the doors of the Supreme Court’s Temple of Justice, President Trump spoke out against “mob rule” in his Topeka, Kansas rally on Friday.

First he invoked compassion for the Kavanaugh family targeted by an “angry mob”:

What he and his wonderful family endured at the hands of Democrats is unthinkable. In their quest for power, the radical Democrats have turned into an angry mob with this screaming and the shouting, not from the 200 people, those people couldn’t fit in the front row. Look what we have here tonight.

Then he enlarged on the danger to Republic of the Democrats’ reliance on “mob rule” (video here):

You don’t hand matches to an arsonists and you don’t get power to an angry left-wing mob. That is what they have become.

On Twitter, he followed Alinsky’s last and possibly most potent law. The 13th entry in Rules for Radicals reads, “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

In the person of George Soros, convicted felon and billionaire financier, Trump has the perfect Bond villain to act as the personification of the ruthless puppetmasters manipulating the politics for their own gain.

It didn’t take long for Trump to be labeled a “conspiracy theorist,” but as it happens, this is a theory with a lot of supporting data. Writing in the Wall Street Journal, a much honored journalist, Asra Q. Nomani published an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday laying out how “Saturday’s protests and unlawful disruptions were brought to us by a well-funded network.”

I am a liberal feminist whose views on abortion and same-sex marriage align with the Democratic Party’s. Yet while most demonstrators are not paid for their efforts, the protests at the Capitol Saturday, and the ones that have included stalking lawmakers inside and outside their offices, are organized by groups of which Mr. Soros is an important patron.

I started following the money for the “resistance” when it was born, hours after Election Day 2016. I have organized my findings in a spreadsheet I have made public. At least 50 of the largest organizations that participated as “partners” in the Jan. 21, 2017, Women’s March had received grants from Mr. Soros’s Open Society Foundations or similar funds in the “House of Soros,” as his philanthropic empire was once called internally. The number of Soros-backed partners has grown to at least 80. At least 20 of the largest groups that led the Saturday anti-Kavanaugh protests have been Open Society grantees.

  13. London —Britain has been acquiring an increasingly Islamic face, with hundreds of official Shariah courts operating in the capital and many mosques dotting many cities.

“London is more Islamic than many Muslim countries put together,” Maulana Syed Raza Rizvi, an Islamic preacher, was quoted as saying in the local media.

“Terrorists can not stand London’s multiculturalism”, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said after the deadly terror attack at Westminster last year.

There are 423 new mosques in London and most of these mosques are crowded at prayer times unlike many churches which rarely see visitors.

The Daily Mail published photographs of a church and a mosque a few meters from each other in the heart of London. At the Church of San Giorgio, designed to accommodate 1,230 worshipers, only 12 people gathered to celebrate Mass. At the Church of Santa Maria, there were 20

The nearby Brune Street Estate mosque has a different problem: overcrowding. Its small room can contain only 100.

By 2020, estimates are that the number of Muslims attending prayers will reach at least 683,000, while the number of Christians attending weekly Mass will drop to 679,000.

    • “London is more Islamic than many Muslim countries put together,” Maulana Syed Raza Rizvi, an Islamic preacher, was quoted as saying in the local media.

Garsh and golly gee whillikers. Does this explain the endless stabby and rammy incidents taking place all over London? Yust look at all the incessant violence in so many other Muslim majority countries and hold that up as a template for the constant assaults and murders happening in England’s capitol.

      Any questions?

  14. The Georgetown University professor who called for the “miserable deaths” of GOP senators admitted Thursday to PJ Media that she runs a “doxxing” blog where she posts the names, phone numbers, and addresses of people who send her rude emails.

The blog — “ShitMenSay” on Tumblr — was launched by Professor Christine Fair in January 2017. First, she began by posting screenshots of the “hate mail” she was sent by Facebook and email, typically only including names and people’s email addresses.

Tumblr screenshot of Christine Fair’s doxxing page.
But as early as May 2017, Fair changed course. Instead of simply screenshotting the person’s email or Facebook message, Fair appears to have subscribed to a service that would help her figure out where these people exactly live.

PJ Media reviewed hundreds of posts (yes, hundreds) on “ShitMenSay” and identified 11 accounts of full-on doxxing, for which home addresses, phone numbers, photos, aliases, and occasionally work phone numbers and other family members were made public.

“When will these male trolls learn?” she wrote on September 28.

“I do research for a living. Locating their residences (these folks live in a town in [redacted] near an elementary school on [redacted] St.), their wives, employers, etc. is mental sport for me,” wrote Fair in one doxxing post.

  15. A new policy at the University of Pennsylvania levies a $500 fine on any fraternity that uses “insensitive” language.
A report from The UPenn Statesmen details a new speech restriction at the University of Pennsylvania, which involves $500 fines for those found guilty of a violation.

The new policy outlines certain speech restrictions, such as one for “discrimination or hate against another group.” Fraternity groups on campus that make “insensitive fraternity-sponsored messages” will be forced to pay a $500 fine. The fines are handed down by the Judicial Inquiry Board, a small group of staff that rule on issues relating to fraternities and sororities at UPenn.

One can question the policy without defending hateful messaging. The issue with the kind of policy in place at the University of Pennsylvania is that it can be subjectively applied to punish a wide variety of expression. Could the university now punish a fraternity for hosting a comedian who makes an “insensitive” joke? Does inviting an anti-affirmative action guest speaker to campus count as “discrimination” under the policy? Based on the policy’s broad language and the ability of the Judicial Inquiry Board to make their own subjective ruling, this seems like a real possibility.

When speech restrictions are determined by subjective determinations of what is or is not “insensitive,” they create an environment where students self-censor as a precaution.

  16. The Democrats’ Constitution Problem

Now that Brett Kavanaugh has acceded to the Supreme Court, the time is at hand to get to the bottom of this beef. What was it that so deranged the Democrats that they were willing to try to destroy the good name of a distinguished nominee? Was it abortion, as some suggest? Or allegations of sexual assault? Or the nominee’s alleged lying about his time in President George W. Bush’s White House?

All of that malarky may have played a role in triggering the Democrats, but our own estimate is that their quarrel is something else. It is increasingly evident that the Democrats are chafing under the Constitution itself. Every one of them who holds federal, state, or local office has had to swear to the parchment (the Constitution so requires). They are, though, unhappy about it and want it changed.

Feature the New York Times editorial called “The High Court Brought Low.” It complained that of the five justices picked by Republicans, “four were nominated by presidents who first took office after losing the popular vote.” The senators who announced they’d vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh, it added, “represent tens of millions fewer Americans than the minority of senators who voted to reject him.”

It’s not just the Times, of course. The Washington Post leg Philip Bump reckons that Justice Kavanaugh has a signal honor — of being the “first justice nominated by someone who lost the popular vote to earn his seat on the bench with support from senators representing less than half of the country while having his nomination opposed by a majority of the country.”

It would be one thing if the Left, the Times in particular, had not spent the last century complaining about elected judges. No one can say that electing judges is unconstitutional; some states have been electing judges for centuries. Yet so frequently has the Times carped about campaign spending on judges and judges expressing political views that its readers could tear their hair out.

  18. Man claims to be 11th Imam may be tried under cyber laws

ISLAMABAD – The video message in which a resident of Lahore claimed to be the 11th imam and savior of Muslim Ummah may be tried under Cyber Crime Laws, officials told The Nation on Sunday.

The announcement has reached us through social media and on Monday we will take up the matter, said a top official of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

He said from the religious point of view since no claim of prophethood has been made, therefore the matter does not fall under severe capital punishment but still the government will consider whether it can cause any sectarian or religious conflict.

A video message was viral on social media, in which a young bearded man Abdullah Bin Muneer, claimed that he is the 11th Imam of Khilafat-e-Rashida. In his ten-minute speech, he said that he has been told in his dreams that he is the one who will rescue Muslims of the world.

He warned that if anyone mistreated or ridiculed him or any of his followers would be subjected to severe curse and punishment of Allah.

The speech delivered in the jurisdiction of Police Station Thatta, Tehsil Jehanian, Khanewal district was reported instantly by the police’s special branch.

Special branch warned that the claim could trigger religious violence and sectarian clash.

In a letter dated October 05, the officials wrote that a person who claims to be Imam Abdullah Bin Muneer gathered some people at the residence of Muhammad Faryad at 135/10R and announced that he is the 11th Imam of Khilafat-e-Rashida, showing a stick claiming that it has been granted to him by Allah.

The stick is engraved with Allah Muhammad and the digit 11, which he claims is written by Allah Almighty.

He ordered the Chief Justice, Army Chief and Prime Minister Imran Khan to acknowledge him.

When contacted, the police officials confirmed that a man resident of Lahore claimed to be an Imam and special branch has alerted the high-ups.

When asked why a resident of Lahore chose the backward village of a remote tehsil to announce his international stature, the official said that since no one has reported the event and to take action the police need a complaint and therefore the matter was not investigated further.

The post has attracted strong criticism from the religious groups and users who termed the claim fake, asking the authorities to take action under strict cyber laws.

“An Egyptian military court sentenced on Monday four people to death and 17 others to life in prison in the case known in the media as the “Giza Province” case.

The prosecutor-general’s office charged the defendants with joining a terrorist organisation, conspiracy, the use of weapons and bombs that resulted in the death of 20 police personnel and an employee at the authority of roads and bridges, as well as destroying public property.

The court also handed down a 15-year sentence to two defendants, six years to ten, and five years to five defendants in the same case.

Monday’s verdicts can be appealed in a military court of appeals.

Seventeen defendants were acquitted in the same case.

The court also ruled that nine defendants are to pay compensation for damage caused to roads and bridges.

The case involved the trial of members of a terrorist organisation formed in Egypt’s Giza governorate with links to the terrorist group Daesh.

Egypt’s security apparatus has said that this group attempted to form a terrorist cell in Egypt’s Giza governorate to be known as the “Daesh state in Giza.”

Officials have also said that this group targeted the Egyptian foreign ministry building and attacked the authority of roads and bridges in February 2016, which what resulted in the death an employee and the injury of several others.

The terrorist organisation was reportedly formed following the Nahda sit-in supporting the ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in August 2014.”

“The Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Monday that it has killed 52 “dangerous takfiris” as well as the death of three army personnel.

The Armed Forces made the announcement in its 28th communiqué on developments in the anti-terrorism Operation Sinai 2018.

The Armed Forces launched Operation Sinai 2018 in February to target terrorist and criminal organisations in north and central Sinai, parts of the Nile Delta and the Western Desert.

The operation involves the army, navy, border patrol, air force and police.

The 28th communiqué stated that the Armed Forces has made several accomplishments as part of the operation in recent days.

Security forces have also destroyed 28 vehicles that were attempting to cross the country’s western border.

The statement has also said that security forces killed 26 extremely dangerous takfiris who were in possession of automatic rifles, ammunition, grenades and explosive belts.

The Arabic word “takfiri” refers to extremist Sunni Muslims who accuse other Muslims of being infidels, often as a justification for using violence against them.

Security forces have also seized two communication devices and military uniforms, as well as an unmanned aircraft used to monitor the activities of the Armed Forces.

A pre-emptive strike in El Arish, police national security forces killed 26 other extremely dangerous tafkiris and seized 10 rifles, four pistols and two bombs.

The statement said that security forces destroyed 26 cars and 52 motorcycles without licence plates that were used by terrorists to carry out their operations.

The forces have also destroyed a number of hideouts containing large amounts of TNT and ammunition.

Naval forces are continuing to secure the country’s territorial waters and cut off terrorists’ supply lines.

The statement added that border guards are securing the country’s western and southern border areas to counter infiltrations and the smuggling of weapons and drugs that threaten the security and stability of the land.

As a result of those hostile operations, an officer, a non-commissioned officer and a soldier has been killed, the statement read.

On the western border, security forces seized three automatic rifles, five sniper rifles, large quantities of various ammunition, 1,000 kg of cannabis, and 3 million tablets of anesthetic.

“Spanish media sources have reported that Spain’s maritime rescue service saved around 325 migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Monday morning.

Spain’s Maritime Rescue Service said Saturday, October 6, its coast guard rescued 500 migrants in the Strait of Gibraltar after detecting many African migrants attempting to cross.

The migrants were pulled from 15 small boats heading towards the Spanish shores.

During the first intervention by the Cadiz services, approximately 86 migrants, including three women, were saved.

On Sunday, October 7, around 230 migrants aboard 5 boats were saved and transported to Algeciras for medical care. Most of the immigrants are from sub-Saharan African nations.

More sub-Saharan undocumented immigrants resumed their attempts to cross the Mediterranean early this week after what television media have called a decline in the number of migrants in the last few days due to an incident when the Moroccan navy opened fire on a migrant boat in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of M’diq in northern Morocco.

Moroccan authorities have tightened pressure on sub-Saharan immigrants, concentrating especially in the Tangier-Assilah-M’diq region. Some immigrants have been deported to their countries of origin.”

  25. Employment EU’s main challenge in stabilising Mediterranean (ansamed, Oct 8, 2018)

“The Mediterranean region has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world, and it is a common problem on both the north and south shores, where at least six countries have unemployment rates exceeding 30%. The main challenge, and the shared destiny of the region’s countries, is to invest in concrete labour policies through the private sector in order to stabilise the region, reduce migratory flows, and prevent extremism.

If the unemployment rate was reduced by half, the Mediterranean’s GDP would grow annually by 20 billion euros, and the potential for unleashing this growth is in the private sector’s hands, according to European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, who spoke on Monday at the 3rd Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum in Barcelona. “Politicians can only establish the conditions and the appropriate regulatory framework to facilitate job creation, but businesses must create jobs, and there aren’t any magic solutions, because it’s impossible to do it without the private sector,” Hahn said.

Since its founding, UfM – which counts 43 countries among its members – has sponsored 13 employment projects for young people and women.

In one of these, “Generation Entrepreneur”, 79,000 young people in the MENA region have thus far benefited, with a total budget of 175 million euros.

“Since its founding, UfM has taken a pragmatic approach and a positive agenda,” said UfM Secretary-General Nasser Kamel, highlighting the “untapped potential” behind the numbers.

“The private sector contributes 60% of the region’s GDP, 80% of capital investment and 90% of job creation in developed countries,” Kamel said.

“In all, about 80% of jobs in the Euro-Mediterranean area are created by small and medium-sized enterprises,” he said.

Using the Roadmap for Action, which established the foundations of the strategy for reaching common cooperation objectives between Europe and the Mediterranean, the Med4Jobs initiative has incorporated projects in the past five years that involve the entire spectrum of players: ministries, UN agencies, business incubators, development agencies, financial institutions and academic institutions.

The 13 countries that have thus far directly benefited from UfM projects are: Albania, Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, and Tunisia. (ANSAmed).”

  26. Mosques in Germany: Statistics hard to come by (DW, Oct 8, 2018)

“….. Many new publicly visible mosques in Germany tend to be financed from abroad, be it from Turkey — the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs, or DITIB, claims to represent more than 960 formally independent associations — or from Saudi Arabia.

“The big problem of Islamic congregations is that they do not have enough money,” said Blume. “Because very few Muslims see themselves as members of mosque congregations.”

It might be possible to raise enough donations to fund the construction of a small mosque, he explained, but it is less clear how one should find money to pay the imams and the youth ministry. “And that’s why the Turkish state is so strong,” within Germany’s Muslim community, said Blume, because it pays the imams”
