  1. Hypocrite Climate Activists Choke Airport with Private Jets for San Fran Global Climate Action Summit

San Francisco airport became choked with dozens of carbon-spewing private jets last week as the rich and powerful flew into California for their farcical San Francisco Global Climate Action Summit.

Once again we see liberals wallowing in their “do as I say, not as I do” way of living as they expect us to live like we are still in the Stone Age while they eat caviar and fly around the world in “climate destroying” private jets.

These hypocrites had flown into San Francisco for California’s first Global Climate Action Summit because, you know, California considers itself to be its own nation.

    • This reminds me very little of the 2007 United Nations Climate Change Conference

Here’s an amazingly inconvenient truth: The upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference is being held at the Bali International Convention Centre, “a truly beautiful tropical island paradise…home to the island’s most luxurious hotel and resort.”

… Maybe more important, press representatives are almost guaranteed to ignore the amount of carbon dioxide needlessly expelled by all the plane flights that might not have occurred if the meeting was held at UN headquarters in New York…

Bali, half way around the world from where these bureaucratic wankers spend their working hours farting through silk. Bali, whose tiny Ngurah Rai International Airport is so small that:

… the large number of additional private charter flights expected in Bali during the UN Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) December 3-15, 2007, will exceed the carrying capacity of apron areas. To meet the added demand for aircraft storage officials are allocating “parking space” at other airports in Indonesia.

The … 3 parking areas can only accommodate 15 planes, which means that some of the jets used by VIP delegations will only be allowed to disembark and embark their planes in Bali with parking provided at airports in Surabaya, Lombok, Jakarta and Makassar.

Am I beginning to detect a pattern here?

  2. Christine Blasey Ford and the links to George Soros

Look at what’s going on with Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings for the Supreme Court, and the fingerprints of George Soros are all over it.

First there was a report from June in the Daily Caller that found “a new political advocacy group that vowed to put $5 million behind an effort to stop … Kavanaugh’s confirmation has significant ties to the liberal financier” Soros.

    What are those ties?

The group, Demand Justice, established in 2018, gets its money from the Sixteen Thirty Fund — and the Sixteen Thirty Fund received roughly $2.2 million from the Open Society Policy Center, one of Soros’ outlets, between the years of 2012 and 2016.

And Demand Justice’s entire mission is to advance a progressive agenda through the courts.

“[Our goal is to] sensitize rank-and-file progressives to think of the courts as a venue for their activism and a way to advance the progressive agenda,” DJ’s executive director, Brian Fallon, said to The New York Times.

While the rest of the country may still be working toward dismissing the Democratic Party altogether for its ruthless, cutthroat politics of division that condones the very behavior the party purports to oppose, actor James Woods is well ahead of the curve.

  5. French police investigate gang rape videos aired on Snapchat (BBC, Sep 19, 2018)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45574431

“French police are investigating what they say is the gang rape of a 19-year-old woman broadcast on social media.

The victim was attacked by four men by a nightclub in the southern city of Toulouse, on Saturday night or Sunday morning, reports said.

Videos of the incident, which appeared on Snapchat and Twitter on Monday, have been blocked by police after social media users reported it.

Investigators have now identified the woman, who confirmed the attack.

Prosecutors said there was no doubt that a crime was committed. They were not yet sure if the victim had decided to file a report, but insisted “the investigation would take place whether there is a case or not”.

Police are now looking to identify at least four perpetrators, aged between 25 and 30, seen in the parking lot of a nightclub in Balma, a suburb east of Toulouse…”

    • I feel safer…” (Video time point – 00:15:30)

“Feel safer”, not talking about Communist Chinese affairs at all. Folks, this is behavioral modification at its most basic level. Pavlov, does that name ring a bell?

In or out of Red China, indigenous Chinese people—and even totally non-Sino individuals—are muffled by (typically economic) Mandarin influence.

On an odd note, Islamic jihadis are simply too rude, crude, and socially unacceptable to blend into these Western lands. The Chinese infiltrators are far less restricted (e.g., not necessarily adhering to halal foods, prayer times, etc.).

This is a pluperfect example of why Communist China is the much larger threat than Islam ever will be. With so fewer barriers to Western “integration”, and infinitely more hostile intentions, it’s the true “fox in the hen house”.

Islam remains more of a lice infestation.

Last-Minute Attack On Kavanaugh Is Meant As Warning To All Conservatives

Dirty Politics: It’s hard to know what to make of the last-second charge against Judge Brett Kavanaugh about an event that allegedly occurred 36 years ago. What is crystal clear is the message Democrats are sending to conservatives. “We will do whatever it takes to destroy you.”

Based on what we know at the moment, the claim made by Christine Blasey Ford is troubling, but not necessarily because of what she alleges happened when she was a high school sophomore.

First, there’s the timing. Ford sent a letter to Sen. Diane Feinstein on July 30, outlining what supposedly occurred at a party in 1982, when Kavanaugh was 17 years old. Feinstein, however, sat on the letter until after the Supreme Court confirmation hearings ended. And Ford didn’t come forward herself until this weekend. It looks an awful lot like a brazenly political last-ditch attempt to derail the nomination.

  7. Turkish Education: Same Old Religious Obsession, Only Worse

    by Burak Bekdil
    September 19, 2018 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13002/turkey-education-religion

Secular Turks were shocked when Binali Y?ld?r?m, then Minister of Transport, explained to an interviewer why, in his youth, he changed his choice of university:

“I visited Bogazici University and saw that girl and boy students were sitting together… I feared I could go astray. And I decided to attend the technical university.”

Y?ld?r?m who later became President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an’s choice for prime minister now serves as parliament speaker.

It is not surprising that for Turkey’s extremists, governance broadly means the Islamization of everything, including education at every level. In a 2017 speech, Erdo?an boasted that, after his Justice and Development Party came to power, the number of students at the religious imam hatip schools rose from 60,000 to 1.3 million.

Unsurprisingly, Erdo?an has often declared his political ambition not as raising honest, well-educated, free minds, but as “raising pious generations.”

  8. Muslim cleric calls Jewish archaeologists “rats [that] burrow under the ground”

More Islamic genius and intellectual enlightenment. Archeology (science) is described by a revered Islamic cleric as “rats burrowing underground.” Give him a Nobel prize!

he Islamic claim to Jerusalem is a ruse designed to undermine Jewish history and deprive the Jewish people of their homeland in accordance with hateful antisemitic Islamic teachings.

Not that reality or truth ever enter into the Islamic propaganda, but Israel does not excavate under the Temple Mount.

The entire narrative surrounding the Dome of the Rock is pure fiction. It was Hitler’s ally in the Middle East, Muslim leader Mufti Al-Husseini, who implemented that deceptive restoration of the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Al-Husseini had the Dome gold-plated for the first time, imposing the false narrative on Jewish Jerusalem by creating more importance for a bogus holy Muslim site in the eyes of the Arab world.

In fact, the “Palestinians” have been systematically destroying precious artifacts and historical discoveries in what Natan Sharansky has called the largest archeological catastrophe in history. This is part of the Islamic destruction of the most important artifacts for Christianity and Judaism. Little is said of the ongoing desecration of Joseph’s tomb or the Muslim member states’ decision to designate the holy Jewish sites — the Tomb of Rachel and the Cave of the Patriarchs — as mosques and to remove them from Israel’s National Heritage list. And Turkey is desecrating the most exquisite and important church in the world, the Hagia Sophia, by turning it into a mosque.

    https://gellerreport.com/2018/09/muslim-cleric-racist-moron.html/

    • Thank you, Richard. The Waqf’s systematic destruction of all Hebraic artifacts being frenetically excavated from beneath the Temple Mount represents one of the most lunatic acts of archaeological vandalism in all time.

Why lunatic? This is because the overly-rapid undercutting of “The Dome of the Rock” is destabilizing it geoseismically. When Islam’s 1,437th shrine collapses upon itself, guess who gets blamed?!?

  9. Brother of Woman Accusing Kavanaugh of Harassment Connected to Planned Parenthood “Dirty Tricks” Group

More suspicious connections have surfaced that raise additional questions about the motivation behind the recent allegations of high school sexual misconduct leveled against Judge Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford.

According to blog sites PacificPundit.com and TruePundit.com, Ford’s brother, Ralph Blasey III, once worked for the law firm of Baker & Hostetler LLP, but left that firm in 2004.

The Daily Caller reported that Baker & Hostetler paid a company called Fusion GPS seven payments totaling more than a half million dollars in 2016.

Fusion GPS is better known as the producer of the fake Russian dossier on then-candidate Donald J. Trump.

Fusion GPS was also the shadowy Democrat “dirty tricks” group hired by Planned Parenthood to produce the fake forensic analysis that supposedly “debunked” the Center for Medical Progress’ undercover videos. The series of CMP videos released in 2015 showed Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the best price for aborted baby body parts.

  10. UK: Police investigate ‘Islamophobic’ hit-and-run in London

Police are treating a hit-and-run which injured three people outside Al-Majlis Al-Hussaini Islamic Centre in north London as an ‘Islamophobic crime’ on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police’s Chief Superintendent Simon Rose said the incident was being dealt with as an Islamophobic hate crime, but not a counter-terrorism.

He added that multiple lines of inquiry were open in the search for the suspects, who remain at large.

The incident happened around midnight, when stewards of the Al-Hussaini Centre challenged a group inside a car received and received tirade of Islamophobic abuse. The car then drove near the mosque where a large of people were gathered. After a brief altercation, it sped off colliding with three people.

  11. GAZA – Thousands demonstrate against UN refugee agency cuts

Thousands demonstrated against funding cuts to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) outside the organisation’s headquarters in Gaza City on Wednesday.

Protest organisers, the UNRWA staff union, opposes cuts in salaries and services provided by the agency, including the decision to end contracts for one thousand staff members.

UNRWA faces a funding crisis after US President Donald Trump withdrew all support for the organisation, which provides critical aid to five million Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and elsewhere.

The United States was by far the largest contributor to the agency to date and contributed roughly a third of its total budget in 2017.

  12. Report: Italy’s Policy to Curb Mass Immigration Fully ‘Justifiable’ (breitbart, Sep 19, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2018/09/19/report-italys-policy-to-curb-mass-immigration-fully-justifiable/

“A new report on Italian immigration from a leading political think tank has defended efforts by the government to rein in illegal immigration, saying that such measures are “justifiable” from a number of perspectives.

Due to Italy’s prolonged economic stagnation and high unemployment, states the 20-page report from the Machiavelli Center for Political and Strategic Studies, “quantitative limits” on immigration are required to avoid flooding the labor market.

The report, titled “Immigration in Italy in the 21st Century: Economics, Society and Security,” said that a restrictive immigration policy is also justifiable under the aspect of integration: “excessive ethnic and cultural diversity reduces social cohesion and Italy should avoid repeating the experiences of self-segregation observed in other countries.”

Immigration is the top issue facing European Union (EU) nations, according to a YouGov poll conducted last May, and has been among the most important themes in recent national and regional elections. The refusal of certain political parties to seriously address the immigration question has led to their decline and in some cases their virtual extinction.

Citizens’ concerns over mass migration are not without foundation, the report contends, and the negative effects of sustained mass migration over time can be damaging to the economic health of the host country.

Studies have found that it can take between five and ten years before an economic system is able to absorb a single, substantial increase in workers, a normal effect of mass immigration, relates the Machiavelli report. The migratory flows absorbed by western European countries over the last 20-25 years, however, have tended to be not only continuous but growing in size.

“The working class complaint that ‘immigrants steal our work’ may be exaggerated, but it is not groundless,” the report states.

Compared to one current economic theory, which sees immigration as a form of economic enrichment for the host country, the experience of recent decades has indicated certain serious inconsistencies.

In the United States, immigration has had a negative impact on the wages of the native lower classes, while in Europe due to tighter regulations on wages, the impact on wages has been negligible, but negative on overall native employment, the report adds.

In the case of Italy, elevated levels of unemployment, especially among the young, are reflected in increased emigration of highly skilled labor. The net balance of emigration to immigration is particularly negative, the report says, since Italy exports educated youth, while importing foreigners with low skill levels.

In the area of crime and security, data regarding mass migration is similarly discouraging.

In its analysis of crime and immigration in Italy, the report found that over the most recent year for which there are reliable statistics (2015), there were a total of 655,524 criminal complaints against Italians and 302,426 against foreigners, meaning that 31.4 percent of charges were against foreigners.

Since during 2015 only 8.3 percent of the Italian population comprised foreigners residing on Italian soil, there were almost four times as many complaints per capita against foreigners as against Italians”

Police in Hamburg say they have arrested a 35-year-old man in the Winterhude district of the city but have so far refused to comment on what he will be charged with, Die Welt reports.

The raids, which occurred Tuesday morning, all focused on far-left extremists who were involved in last year’s “Welcome to Hell” protests that descended into violence last July during the G20 summit and saw hundreds of police officers injured by black-clad Antifa members. 14. Muslim groups stand up to challenges facing refugees, immigrants in Ohio (mee, Sep 19, 2018)
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/community-groups-stand-challenges-facing-muslims-ohio-neighbourhood-1676807581

“COLUMBUS, United States – Wedgewood Village housing complex in Columbus, Ohio, has been dubbed a “hotbed” for crime. But faith congregations and community activists are working to change that.

My Project USA is a group that has dedicated recent years to offer services to its residents, many of them Somali immigrants. Last month, the group secured a grant from Columbus City Council to create a soccer league for the neighbourhood’s youth by opening football fields, hiring coaches and putting together an advisory board.

This is one of several steps Zerqa Abid, founder and executive director of My Project USA, is taking to help Muslim, refugee and immigrant communities in Columbus, many of which are targeted by human traffickers, gangs and drug dealers.

Ohio is home to about 500,000 documented immigrants, comprising 4.3 percent of the state’s population. In June, Ohio Governor John Kasich announced the creation of an office aimed at helping immigrants integrate in the state.

Since the 1980s, Columbus has resettled more than 17,000 refugees from around the world, including Iraq, Mauritania, Syria, Somalia, Bhutan, Afghanistan and others.

“Twenty-five thousand Muslim children and youth in Columbus are at risk of drugs, gangs, violence,” said Abid. “[We have] an immigrant and refugee population that is traumatised and who have cultural and language barriers.”

“The issues we see in our community on a daily basis is domestic violence, trauma, parental abuse, and children who are trying to ran away. FGM [Female Genital Mutilation] is also a serious problem.”

But with Islamophobia on the rise, people of minority faiths are hesitant to seek help from authorities, explained Imran Malik, outreach and interfaith director at Noor Islamic Cultural Center outside of Columbus.

    ‘Spike in bigotry’

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, said that anti-Muslim discrimination incidents and hate crimes are up 83 and 21 percent respectively, compared to the first quarter of this year.

During that time, CAIR documented more than 1000 reports of potential bias incidents. The numbers include situations involving various government agencies.

This is part of “the overall spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and other minority communities since the election of Donald Trump as president,” said Zainab Arain, coordinator in CAIR’s Research and Advocacy Department.

“The most prevalent trigger of anti-Muslim bias incidents in 2018 remains the victim’s ethnicity or national origin, accounting for 33 percent of the total,” according to CAIR, which has reported an “unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president”.

Muslim communities in and around Columbus are traditionally patriarchal societies, which can also make it challenging for women to come forward to confront abuse or discuss other problems.

“The families of victims are coming from a cultural background that is patriarchal. People say: ‘This is a new place that I call home, I don’t know what the outcome will be [if I call the police], [what will become of my] family shame and honour, I don’t want to become the poster child for this type of situation,’” Malik said.

“The challenge is that we have people coming from different places where law enforcement is not very ideal, so for them to get engaged with city officials and community service organisation… there’s a mindset of apprehension,” he added.

Some are reluctant to discuss internal problems because they don’t want to exacerbate negative stereotypes about their communities.

“Because of that they don’t want to talk about domestic violence, underage marriages, teenage marriages and all the issues that we need to address,” Abid explained, saying it’s uncomfortable to air dirty laundry when they face external threats like Islamophobia and xenophobia.

Islamic organisations are grappling to help immigrants: With limited resources, they are looking to partner with other groups to help deal with issues like drug abuse, bullying in schools, and domestic violence.

But they are also trying to encourage communities to maintain their identity and cultural heritage while pursuing the American dream and using diversity as a point of strength.

“There’s an old saying that America is a melting pot,” said Malik. “It should be a fruit salad bowl, where people can keep their culture but also be part of the community.””

    • “…Some are reluctant to discuss internal problems because they don’t want to exacerbate negative stereotypes about their communities.

“Because of that they don’t want to talk about domestic violence, underage marriages, teenage marriages and all the issues that we need to address,” Abid explained, saying it’s uncomfortable to air dirty laundry when they face external threats like Islamophobia and xenophobia…”

Do they even slightly reflect upon their very own train wreck of thought?

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/somali-officials-airstrike-kills-hurts-al-shabab-57941542

“Several senior officials with the al-Shabab extremist group have been killed or wounded in an airstrike in southern Somalia, Somali intelligence officials said Wednesday, while the al-Qaida-linked group and a resident said children were among the dead.

The intelligence officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media said the overnight airstrike hit a training school and nearby hospital in Sakow, a town in Middle Jubba region. They said those targeted include longtime commander Hassan Yaqub.

It was not clear who carried out the strike. The U.S. Africa Command, which has carried out more than 20 airstrikes in Somalia this year, said it has not carried out a strike there since Sept. 11.

Neighboring Kenya also has carried out airstrikes against al-Shabab, the deadliest Islamic extremist group in sub-Saharan Africa. And over the weekend neighboring Ethiopia’s state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported that Ethiopia’s air force killed about 70 al-Shabab extremists in a rare airstrike…”

  16. Brett Kavanaugh’s Wife Hands Out Cupcakes to Reporters Besieging Her House

On Tuesday night, the press added yet another indignity to the family of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. CBS News reporter Kathryn Watson revealed that reporters had besieged the family home of Kavanaugh. The judge’s wife, Ashley Estes Kavanaugh, had a very classy response to this situation.

“Per our CBS News cameraman at Kavanaugh’s house, his wife handed out cupcakes from Sprinkles to any of the photogs and producers who wanted them,” Watson tweeted.

  17. CBS Is Considering A Miniseries Based On James Comey’s Memoir

CBS is reportedly close to purchasing the television rights to fired FBI director James Comey’s autobiography, “A Higher Loyalty, Truth, Lies, and Leadership” and plans to make the bestseller into a miniseries.

The Washington Examiner reports that Comey took part in a series of pitch meetings earlier this year, and that several networks were involved in a “highly competitive” auction for the chance to adapt Comey’s story to the small screen.

If CBS seals the deal — and it’s expected to — Alex Kurtzman, Shane Salerno, and Heather Kadin, are likely to sign on as executive producers, according to theHollywood insider publication, Deadline. Billy Ray, who adapted “Captain Phillips” for the big screen, is slated to pen the screenplay (Ray will also executive produce). It’s not clear where the series will finally air — it could be a made-for-television event or air on one of CBS’s online subscription networks — or who will play James Comey.

  18. Nolte: Kavanaugh Accuser’s Classmate Deletes Claim that Everyone Knew of Alleged Misconduct

Cristina King Miranda, who says she is a former classmate of Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, has deleted her claim that everyone knew of the alleged misconduct.

Ford is accusing Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh of groping her at a house party 36 years ago when they were both teenagers in high school. After Ford came forward, she told the far-left Washington Post that Ford “told no one at the time what happened to her.”

Nevertheless, on Tuesday, Miranda tweeted that she knew both Kavanaugh and Ford and that “the incident was spoken of for days afterwards in school.”

If true, this would be a big deal. As of now, Ford says she did not tell anyone about the allegation until 2012, which means there are no contemporaneous witnesses who can come forward to claim Ford told them about this at the time.

A Fairfax County focus group this summer found many college students who have gotten an absentee ballot simply fail to send it back because a U.S. Postal Service stamp seems to be a foreign concept to them.

“One thing that came up, which I had heard from my own kids but I thought they were just nerdy, was that the students will go through the process of applying for a mail-in absentee ballot, they will fill out the ballot, and then, they don’t know where to get stamps,” Lisa Connors with the Fairfax County Office of Public Affairs said.

“That seems to be like a hump that they can’t get across.”

The focus group included college interns from across numerous county departments.

  20. France calls for support for Morocco, Algeria to halt illegal immigration (memo, Sep 19, 2018)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180919-france-calls-for-support-for-morocco-algeria-to-halt-illegal-immigration/

“Morocco and Algeria are ready to cooperate with us but they are seeking international financial support to secure their borders, France’s interior minister, Gerard Collomb, said yesterday.

Speaking in an interview with France’s L’Expresse, Collomb explained that Algeria and Morocco as “transit countries for immigrants heading to Europe” were facing several issues that require financial support to be able to control the inflow of illegal immigrants into the North African countries.

The French minister pointed to what he described as “hordes of illegal immigrants targeting the European Union.”

Over the past eight months, he noted, the European authorities monitored some 33,795 illegal immigrants who have arrived at the European continent via the nautical route linking Morocco and Spain.

“France will bear the Moroccan Haraka immigrants whose majority target the French capital of Paris,” Collomb stressed.

The French official criticised a recent move by the Mayor of Paris, Ann Hidaglo, who has welcomed the Haraka immigrants from Morocco and has promised to shelter them, warning that the city has been under “high pressure.”

“Paris had received over 50 per cent of the total asylum applications in the region,” he revealed.

Collomb, one of the French President Emmanuel Macron’s most loyal ministers, yesterday announced that he will stand down as the interior minister next year to run again for his old job as mayor of the city of Lyon. His announcement came a month after the resignation of the country’s environment minister, Nicolas Hulot, who has quit as Macron’s popularity plummeted.”

“Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, head of Egypt’s post-coup government, announced his intention to privatise public hospitals so that Egyptian businesspeople and non-governmental organisations will manage healthcare institutions.

He justified such move saying: “I hope that my decision would not cause inconvenience among you; however businessmen and NGOs proved to be more efficient when it comes to managing hospitals….”

But he’s busy burying murdered policemen. Then he’s got to hunt down their killers, eradicate their hidey-holes. Disperse their kin to distant wastelands. Not a dainty exercise, but nothing less will do.

The “humanitarians” of the world rally around their darling “Palestinians” or “Rohingyas” or whatever trendy faux ethnicity. Meanwhile, the people of Egypt can’t catch a break. They’re poor, superstition-riddled breeders.

Yet I met many good people. Muslims rooted in their faith and their land. Who were delighted to meet me – ah, Spanish Jews, used to be our best friends! Diplomatic relations go back a millennium.

But the press and school textbooks have become toxic vehicles for Jew-hate again, every bit as bad as they were in Nasser’s time. Though President el-Sissi depends heavily on Israel’s discreet help, he does nothing to discourage the vile media.

That’s just the way it is. That’s Egypt’s classic scapegoat when times are tough. No more Jews? Hit the Copts, lowest of the low, pig-eaters. Mood swings are baked into the nation’s history.

Egypt is a basket-case, but it’s a proud nation that has far more potential than the rest of the MENA.

“An Iraqi court on Wednesday sentenced a prominent militant – described as a deputy of the Islamic State group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – to death on terrorism charges.

“The Karkh criminal court in Baghdad sentenced to death by hanging one of the most prominent leaders of IS, who served as a deputy of Baghdadi,” judicial spokesman Abdel Sattar Bayraqdar said.

Ismail Alwan Salman al-Ithawi was extradited from Turkey earlier this year having fled Syria as the group’s self-proclaimed “caliphate” crumbled.

He was tracked and detained through cooperation between Turkish, Iraqi and US intelligence agencies, a senior Iraqi official said in February.

A native of the Iraqi city of Ramadi, Ithawi was accused of holding several positions including IS “minister” in charge of religious edicts.

Iraq declared “victory” over IS in December, after a three-year war against the militants who once controlled nearly one-third of the country, as well as swathes of neighbouring Syria.

Baghdadi has been pronounced dead on several occasions, but an Iraqi intelligence official said in May that he remained alive in Syrian territory by the Iraqi border.

The IS chief called on Muslims to wage “jihad” in a purported new audio recording released last month.”

“Bangladesh’s parliament on Wednesday passed a controversial digital security act despite protests by journalists who say the law will severely curb media freedom in the country.

The new law, which according to a draft carries heavy jail sentences for secretly recording government officials or spreading “negative propaganda” using a digital device, was approved by a voice vote, parliamentary spokesman Mohammad Kamal told AFP.

Post and telecommunications minister Mustafa Jabbar, who placed the bill, told parliament the law would help fight digital crime and protect people’s lives and assets, The Daily Star newspaper said.

Hundreds of journalists have staged demonstrations against the law in recent months and editors have said the law poses serious threats to freedom of expression and media in the country…”

  24. No crisis in Turkey, all manipulations: President Erdo?an (hurriyetdailynews, Sep 19, 2018)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/no-crisis-in-turkey-all-manipulations-president-erdogan-137024

“President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said there is no economic crisis in Turkey, describing the situation as “mere manipulations,” and said Turkey is richer and more effective than it was 20 years before.

“There is no crisis, do not be fooled by that. These are all manipulations. There is no crisis here. We are marching towards the future and becoming stronger every day. We will become stronger,” Erdo?an said at a conference for a Veteran’s Day event on Sept. 19.

His comment came amid the 40 percent depreciation of the Turkish Lira against the United States dollar since August and the Central Bank raising the benchmark lending rate to 24 percent to fight inflation.

Erdo?an reiterated his rhetoric that the lira’s plunge is a result of an “international attack to Turkey,” stating that “Turkey is richer and more effective than it was 20 years ago.”

He also underlined the recent presidential decree, which stipulates a change in the law regarding the protection of Turkish currency, by which it was obliged for those who are currently residing in Turkey to arrange the contract value of their commercial agreements on the lira.

“From now on, rent in Turkey cannot be in U.S. dollars. The lira will be active in Turkey now. Otherwise, they will pay the price,” he said.

“You will rent in liras and make your purchases in liras,” he said, adding “certain necessities are another subject.””
