  1. Zero Hour for Gen X
How “the last adult generation” can save us.
    August 24, 2018
    Mark Tapson

“America stands anxiously on the cusp of an unknown future,” writes Matthew Hennessey in a new book titled Zero Hour for Gen X: How the Last Adult Generation Can Save America From Millennials. “We are about to get swamped by a millennial wave that has already started crashing hard into the worlds of business, politics, entertainment, religion, dating, medicine, and education.” Considering that millennials are the generation that seems eager to embrace socialism, limits on freedom of speech, and Amazon’s “Big Brother” Alexa in every home, this generational passing of the torch will have dramatic and adverse implications for the future of America as we know it. Matthew Hennessey’s thesis is that Generation X – which emerged between the baby boomers and millennials – must get its act together swiftly if there is to be any hope of a collective national redemption from baby boomer destruction and to avert the Brave New World into which millennials will usher us.

The author defines the parameters of the three relevant generations for the purposes of his book: “Baby boomers are those born roughly between 1946 and 1964. Generation Xers are those born roughly between 1965 and 1980. The millennials are those born roughly between 1981 and 1997… [They] are already the largest American generation, and they’re still growing due to immigration.” They are tech-obsessed, coddled by political correctness, and indifferent to the advance of corporate and government intrusion into every aspect of our increasingly digital lives.

  2. America’s Leftist and Islamic Enemies Lose to Capitalism
Socialist and Islamic economies are failing.
    August 24, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Raising the corporate tax rate and the minimum wage aren’t just hot leftist ideas in America. Forget the “Fight for $15”. Venezuela just raised its minimum wage by 3,000%.

That adds up to $30 a month.

At least if you trust Venezuelan exchange rates. Which no one in the failed socialist state does.

“I want the country to recover and I have the formula. Trust me,” President Maduro, the union boss turned incompetent dictator, declared, touting his “monetary reconversion and integral economic reconversion.”

The formula, meant to save a country whose people are fleeing massive gang violence, hunger, lack of food, water, power, and medicine, includes a higher corporate tax rate and a higher minimum wage. The latest currency devaluation pegs its worthless money (expected to hit 1 million percent inflation) to its dubious cryptocurrency which is pegged to Maduro’s hallucinatory version of revolutionary socialism.

Venezuela’s economic collapse is not an outlier. Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega, the Marxist terror boss whom every 80s leftist, from John Kerry to Bernie Sanders, had a crush on, touched off another mess.

  3. MasterCard, Visa and the War on the Freedom Center

Back in April, I wrote about how the left was enlisting financial institutions in its war on the Bill of Rights.

Bank of America has warned that it will refuse to lend money to manufacturers of “assault-style guns”. It had previously announced it was edging away from the coal business to fight global warming.

… Citibank is repaying the generosity of the American people by requiring its clients to impose their own gun control policies on their stores. Impose gun control on your customers or Citibank will discriminate against you.

This phase of the pressure campaign got its start from a New York Times column by Andrew Ross Sorkin which wondered, “What if the finance industry — credit card companies … credit card processors … and banks … were to effectively set new rules for the sales of guns in America?”

It wasn’t long until credit cards joined the party.

  4. 3 Things the Media Refuses to Report About South Africa
    August 23, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

President Trump’s tweet about the persecution of white farmers by the racist ANC government touched off the usual flurry of media spinning and fake fact checking. The media is eager to inform readers that the South African constitution has not yet been changed to allow for the ethnic cleansing of white farmers.

    That’s just the plan.

The fake “72% of the land is owned by white farmers” statistic is constantly bandied about to justify it.

But here are 3 things that the media refuses to report.

    1. The ANC is allied with the South African Communist Party. And there’s been plenty of overlap there throughout the years that the two are arguably the same. Land confiscation is not just a racist policy. It’s a classic Communist policy.

    2. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made a huge fortune in the “private sector” after his time in the ANC. Who will actually benefit from land seizures? Won’t it just be a repetition of Mugabe’s land seizures in Zimbabwe which impoverished the country and led to famine?

    3. Violence against white farmers is not, as CBS false claimed, unrelated to land seizures. The violence is often the hidden hand of those looking to drive white farmers off their land so that they can be incorporated into the new feudalism taking hold in South Africa.

  5. Bulk of Clinton emails on Weiner’s laptop were never examined, findings were never reported (Update)

Real Clear Investigations has a blockbuster report focused on the investigation of Anthony Weiner’s laptop and the emails found on it just prior to the 2016 election. Contrary to what was claimed by then-Director James Comey in public, RCI found no real effort was made to look at nearly 700,000 emails found on the laptop. In all, only a few thousand were examined and when more classified information was found in those, it was never referred back to the intelligence community for a damage assessment as required by law.

  6. “Vox Claims that Only Nazis Don’t Want to See South Africa Steal Farmers’ Land” Styxh – August 24, 2018

    • He is wrong, there will be a genocide, the Nazi’s didn’t start murdering in train load lots, they started small and got the people use to the idea. The big difference is that in South Africa the victims are armed and most are either experienced hunters or have military trianitn, or both.

  7. Dutch terror suspects often poorly educated, unemployed, ex-criminals

    https://nltimes.nl/2018/08/24/dutch-terror-suspects-often-poorly-educated-unemployed-ex-criminals?qt-front=0

Dutch terrorism suspects are often poorly educated, unemployed and have a previous criminal record, according to the Dutch Study Center on Crime and Law Enforcement. Their profile hardy differs from that of ordinary criminals, the researchers conclude, RTL Nieuws reports.

The center looked at the data of 353 terror suspects, almost all the people suspected of a terrorist crime in the Netherlands over the past 14 years. They found that nearly two thirds of the suspects were previously suspected in another crime, like shoplifting or threats. Two thirds only completed primary school, and only 4 percent graduated higher education. And more than half of them are unemployed and on benefits.

The researchers suspect that former criminals who regret what they did are more susceptible to radicalization. They therefore call for better counseling for young people who want to leave a life of crime.

The National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security agrees that crime and terrorism are indeed intertwined. That is extra worrying, because terrorists could use their old criminal networks to get weapons and finance their terrorist action out of criminal wealth, the coordinator said, according to RTL.

  8. WaPo-Associated Press – US cuts aid to Palestinians by more than $200 million

The Trump administration has decided to cut more than $200 million in bilateral aid to the Palestinians, following a review of the funding for projects in the West Bank and Gaza, the State Department said Friday.

The department notified Congress of the decision in a brief, three-paragraph notice sent first to lawmakers and then to reporters. It said the administration will redirect the money to “high priority projects elsewhere.”

The move comes as President Donald Trump and his Middle East pointmen, Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt, staff up their office to prepare for the rollout of a much-vaunted but as yet unclear peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians.

“At the direction of President Trump, we have undertaken a review of U.S. assistance to the Palestinian Authority and in the West Bank and Gaza to ensure these funds are spent in accordance with U.S. national interests and provide value to the U.S. taxpayer,” the department said. “As a result of that review, at the direction of the president, we will redirect more than $200 million … originally planned for programs in the West Bank and Gaza.”

“This decision takes into account the challenges the international community faces in providing assistance in Gaza, where Hamas control endangers the lives of Gaza’s citizens and degrades an already dire humanitarian and economic situation,” the notice said, without providing additional details.

The notice did not give an exact amount of the funds to be cut, but said they had been approved in 2017.

The U.S. had planned to give the Palestinians $251 million for good governance, health, education and funding for civil society in the current 2018 budget year that ends on Sept.30. But with just over a month to go before that money must be used, reprogrammed to other areas or returned to Treasury, less than half has actually been spent. Earlier this month, the department had released about $60 million of the 2018 money for security projects that encourage cooperation between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.

Israel and Jordan, in particular, had lobbied for the security assistance to be continued.

The loss of the assistance is almost certain to further provoke the Palestinians against the Trump peace plan. The Palestinian leadership has been openly hostile to any proposal from the administration, citing what it says is a pro-Israel bias, notably after Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in December and moved the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv in May. The Palestinian Authority and its President Mahmoud Abbas broke off contact with the U.S. after the Jerusalem announcement.

The announcement does not include some $65 million in frozen U.S. funding for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, which provides services to Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan and Lebanon. However, the Trump administration is extremely skeptical of UNRWA and that money is also likely to be reprogrammed, according to officials.

Friday’s decision follows a similar decision last week in which the State Department announced that it was redirecting $230 million dollars in aid that had been planned for stabilization programs in liberated areas of Syria. In that case, however, the department said the loss of U.S. funding would be more than offset by other nations, including Saudi Arabia, which announced a $150 million contribution for Syria stabilization just hours before the American announcement.

“A Hajj pilgrim jumped to his death from off the roof of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, said spokesman for the General Presidency for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet Mosque Affairs Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Mansouri, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The non-Arab pilgrim jumped off on Friday to the floor of the circumambulation area around the holy Kaaba despite the presence of a protective fence around the roof.

He was killed instantly, but landed on two pilgrims.

They were wounded, but their health is stable.

Investigations are underway to uncover the details of the incident.”

  11. UNHCR: “Critical worsening” of conditions for migrants detained in Libya (memo, Aug 24, 2018)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180824-unhcr-critical-worsening-of-conditions-for-migrants-detained-in-libya/

“The UN refugee agency said on Friday it was gravely concerned about a deterioration in conditions for migrants held in Libyan detention centres that had led to riots and hunger strikes.

Many migrants are taken to the centres after being intercepted by Libya’s EU-backed coastguard as they try to reach Europe by sea, a policy that has been criticised by human rights groups.

An estimated 8,000 migrants are currently held in 18 detention centres linked to the internationally recognised government in Tripoli, according to UNHCR.

Those detained make up a small fraction of the several hundred thousand migrants resident in Libya or passing through the North African country.

Humanitarian workers have limited access to the centres, which frequently open and close.

“In recent weeks, UNHCR has witnessed a critical worsening in conditions in detention centres, due to the increasing overcrowding and lack of basic living standards,” the agency said in a statement.

“As a consequence, riots and hunger strikes by refugees inside detention centres are taking place, demanding a resolution to their bleak living conditions.

“This has led to a number of serious security incidents, where UNHCR frontline staff have been placed at physical risk.”

Libyan officials have blamed poor conditions at detention centres on a lack of resources, and have said migrants are detained for their own protection…”

  12. Video: Italian Police Arrest Moroccan for ‘Barbaric’ Sheep Tying on Eid (moroccoworldnews, Aug 24, 2018)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2018/08/252572/italian-arrest-moroccan-sheep-tying/

“Italian authorities arrested a Moroccan resident who tied up his sacrificial sheep in a stroller in a “barbaric” way.

Onlookers in the city of Naples felt uncomfortable after seeing the man handling a sheep during Eid al-Adha (festival of sacrifice) in a child’s stroller. The sheep was on its back, tied in such a way that its head was cocked, and appeared to be struggling.

A video of the sheep in the stroller, which has circulated on social media, caused Italian media and animal rights activists to condemn the act and describe it as “barbaric” or “cruel.”

The Italian news outlet la Repubblica said the man with the sheep was on his way to Garibaldi Square in Naples to celebrate Eid when he ran into a member of the Naples city council, who was shocked by the manner in which the Moroccan had tied the sheep and asked him to untie it.

When the Moroccan refused, police interfered and arrested him.

Eid al-Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays Muslims celebrate worldwide. The holiday comes on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the month of pilgrimage in which the Hajj takes place.

On Eid, the oldest male in Muslim families slaughter a sheep, goat, or cow, after performing the morning prayers.”

    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2018/08/252558/10-men-kidnap-rape-torture-17-year-old-girl-in-central-morocco/

“Police have reportedly arrested 10 men involved in kidnapping, raping, torturing, tattooing, and holding captive a 17-year-old in central Morocco.

The girl, named Khadija, was subjected to the worst forms of violence during the month she was held by more than 10 men in Oulad Ayad, a small town near Beni Mellal and 150 kilometers northeast of Marrakech.

According to several local media, 1 of the 10 men owned the house where Khadija was being held. After police arrested the men, some managed to escape.

In an interview with Chouf TV, the young lady recounted the nightmare she lived, explaining that she was at her aunt’s house when she was kidnapped in front of the house. The men who took her raped her first before holding her captive in a house where she was handed over to other men for money.

Khadija tried to escape several times, but each time she was caught and tortured. “They didn’t give me food or drink, and I was not even allowed to take a shower.”

“I want justice to be done and [for them] to pay for what they have done to me,” she bravely told reporters.

“For how many women who, for fear of this hchouma [shame], continue to keep quiet?” she added.

The awful story has stirred up outrage and controversy, especially among women’s rights associations….”

  17. Germany halts deportation of Chinese Muslims over human rights concerns (theloal, Aug 24, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.de/20180824/germany-halts-deportation-of-chinese-muslims-over-human-rights

“Germany said Thursday it would refrain from deporting members of China’s mostly Muslim Uighur minority over human rights concerns, after admitting a Uighur man was sent back by mistake in April.

In a case that made waves earlier this month, German authorities acknowledged that the 22-year-old asylum seeker, who was not named, was deported to China by the German state of Bavaria due to an administrative error.

The Uighur’s lawyer Leo Borgmann has said he has had “no sign of life” from his client since the expulsion and fears that he has been “detained” by Chinese authorities.

After an outcry by human rights groups and opposition politicians, the interior ministry said in a written response to a query by Greens MP Margarete Bause, that the practice had been halted.

“Until further notice, we will desist from repatriating Uigurs and their families,” the ministry said.

It cited “recent” guidance by Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the foreign ministry on the situation in China in its decision not to send Uighurs back.

“The highly critical situation in terms of human rights, which are stressed in the BAMF report, has been known to German authorities for months,” Bause told AFP, citing a “danger to life and limb” for Uighurs in China.

“The fact that the Uighur was expelled by the Bavarian authorities in the dead of night is scandalous.”

Bause called on the German government to do “everything in its power” to secure the return of the deported man from China.

Many of the Uighur minority say they face cultural and religious repression in China.

Members of the Uighur diaspora say relatives have been arrested for seemingly innocuous acts such as sending Ramadan greetings to friends or downloading popular music.

Chinese authorities are also believed to have detained hundreds of thousands of Muslims in a secretive network of extra-judicial political re-education centres, where inmates are given language and ideological training and forced to participate in military-style drills.

The German foreign ministry recently updated its travel advisory for China’s far-west Xinjiang region.

“In Xinjiang there have for months been rising numbers of arrests and passports revoked,” it said.

“Those affected are, in particular, people of Uighur origin.”

China has pointed to a series of attacks in Xinjiang by suspected Islamist radicals in recent years as justification for a draconian clampdown in a region with a long history of tensions with Beijing.”

  18. Attacks on police, fire fighters show increase in Germany (thelocal, Aug 24, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.de/20180824/attacks-on-police-fire-fighters

“Firefighters and police officers are being attacked more and more frequently while on the call of duty, according to a parliamentary statement published on Friday.

Within four years, the number of verbal and physical crimes against police officers, rescue forces, firefighters, customs officials and federal emergency services rose by 22 percent.

In 2017, 4,527 “enforcement officers and similar persons” became victims of violent crimes nationwide, according to the response of an inquiry that the Free Democrats (FDP) submitted to the German government.

The numbers represent a sharp increase since 2013, when 3,710 members of emergency forces were attacked.

These statistics, however, do not include cases which resulted in physical harm. These are recorded in police statistics as “violent crimes.”

Between 41 percent and 49 percent of those attacked emergency personnel in recent years were under the influence of alcohol.

The proportion of female suspects has recently increased slightly: it was around 13 percent in 2017, according to the inquiry, which did not give the figure for prior years.

“The brutality with which our security forces are being attacked is also frightening,” said FDP interior politician Benjamin Strasser. “The interior ministers of the federal and state governments would have to take every opportunity to effectively protect our emergency services.”

The inquiry was spurred by a 2017 report from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, in which about 64 percent of the surveyed emergency services personnel in North-Rhine Westphalia said that they had been the victims of verbal or physical violence in the past year.

It attributed the increase of violence to a “loss of empathy,” within society, the report stated.

After it was published, emergency personnel launched various campaigns against violence. In May 2018, the German fire service launched its “Gewalt geht gar nicht” (Violence is absolutely unacceptable) campaign in order to encourage respect and understanding for their staffers, and others working to protect the population.”

  19. Dutch premier distances govt from anti-Islam cartoon contest (abcnews, Aug 24, 2018)
    https://abcn.ws/2BKPuZB

“The Dutch prime minister on Friday distanced his government from a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest being organized later this year by anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders.

Wilders “is not a member of the government. The competition is not a government initiative,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said at his weekly press conference.

Rutte’s comments came after angry reactions in Pakistan to the proposed contest, which Wilders plans to hold in November in his right-wing Party for Freedom’s heavily guarded offices at the Dutch parliament.

Authorities in Pakistan have lodged a diplomatic protest against Wilders’ plan, calling it an attempt to defame Islam.

Opposition lawmaker Wilders is well known for his fierce criticism of Islam and has previously sparked fury in Muslim nations with a film about Islam. He lives under a round-the-clock guard following years of death threats.

Physical depictions of God or the Prophet Muhammad, even respectful ones, are considered blasphemous under mainstream Islamic tradition.

Rutte questioned Wilders’ motive for organizing the contest, saying “his aim is not to have a debate about Islam. His aim is to be provocative.”

However, he added that people in the Netherlands have far-reaching freedom of speech rights.

“This man, Geert Wilders, is known for testing the limits of freedom of expression. He is free to do that,” Rutte said. “The Cabinet wants to make clear it is not a Cabinet initiative.”

In a tweet, Wilders said the reaction of Rutte and the Dutch foreign minister “show that we are ruled by Islam cuddlers.” He said the contest was not meant as a provocation “but to show that we do not bargain with our freedom.””

  23. Israel: Doctors Without Borders nurse shot at troops on Gaza border

JERUSALEM: Israel said an MSF nurse shot at troops on the Gaza border this week, a charge the medical charity said Friday it was investigating as it confirmed the death of an employee.

“Doctors Without Borders (MSF) confirms that one of its employees, Hani Mohammed Almajdalawi, was killed in Gaza on Monday, August 20, 2018,” the organization said in a statement.

“MSF is working to verify and understand the circumstances regarding this extremely serious incident, and is not able to comment further at this stage,” it added.

COGAT, the Israeli defense ministry body responsible for activities in the Palestinian territories, issued a statement late Thursday slamming MSF as “Terrorism Without Borders.”

“Hani Al-Almajdalawi, who tried to infiltrate through the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip while he was armed with a rifle, opened fire toward military forces and even threw an explosive device at them,” it said.

COGAT said Almajdalawi was “a nurse who worked for the international organization Doctors Without Borders.”

MSF has around 200 local and foreign staff in Gaza and in May the charity condemned Israel’s use of force in border protests as “unacceptable and inhuman.”

It described the army’s policy as “shooting with live ammunition at demonstrators, on the assumption that anyone approaching the separation fence is a legitimate target.”

At least 172 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire on the Gaza border in mass protests which began on March 30.

One Israeli soldier was shot dead by a Palestinian sniper in July.
Israel maintains that its use of force is necessary to defend the border and stop infiltrations and attacks.

Israeli authorities did not immediately respond to requests on Friday to confirm Almajdalawi’s death and detail where his body was being held.

The Israeli military on Monday released a terse statement on a border gunfight which did not name Almajdalawi or confirm that he has been killed.

“A terrorist shot at IDF troops in the northern Gaza Strip, in response IDF troops shot toward the terrorist,” the army said, referring to the Israel Defense Forces.
It said that no soldiers were wounded but made no mention of any Palestinian casualties.

The border incident occurred despite attempts by Egypt and UN officials to reach a long-term truce between Israel and Hamas, the Islamist movement that runs the Gaza Strip.
