  1. Swedish activist who stopped deportation of asylum-seeker talks to Deutsche Welle

Swedish activist Elin Ersson made headlines when she staged a one-woman protest aboard a plane about to take off from Gothenburg.

By refusing to take her seat, she stopped the deportation of an asylum-seeker to Afghanistan.

  2. Europe: Prayer in Public Spaces

A few months ago, a global media tempest erupted after Polish Catholics held a mass public prayer event across the country. The BBC deemed it “controversial”, due to “concerns it could be seen as endorsing the state’s refusal to let in Muslim migrants”.

The same controversy, however, did not erupt in Britain when 140,000 Muslims prayed in Birmingham’s Small Heath Park, in an event organized by the Green Lane Mosque to mark the end of Ramadan.

France is debating whether or not to block prayer on the street. “They will not have prayers on the street, we will prevent street praying” Interior Minister Gerard Collomb announced.

“Public space cannot be taken over in this way”, said the president of the Paris regional council, Valérie Pécresse, who led a protest by councilors and MPs. In Italy, hundreds of Muslims prayed next to Colosseum, and Muslim prayers were held in front of Milan’s Cathedral.

The numbers are telling. When Muslims throughout Europe celebrated the final day of Islam’s holy month of Ramadan with public prayers, city squares — from Naples (Italy) to Nice (France) — overflowed. The annual Birmingham event began in 2012 with 12,000 faithful. Two years later, the number of the faithful rose to 40,000. In 2015, it was 70,000. In 2016, the number was 90,000. In 2017, it was 100,000. In 2018, the number was 140,000. Next year?

Elections: American democracy has a problem — a voting problem. According to a new study of U.S. Census data, America has more registered voters than actual live voters. It’s a troubling fact that puts our nation’s future in peril.

The data come from Judicial Watch’s Election Integrity Project. The group looked at data from 2011 to 2015 produced by the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, along with data from the federal Election Assistance Commission.

Why isn’t the FBI giving Andrew McCabe text messages to Judicial Watch or appropriate governmental authorities. FBI said they won’t give up even one (I may have to get involved, DO NOT DESTROY).

What are they hiding? McCabe wife took big campaign dollars from Hillary people…..

Will the FBI ever recover it’s once stellar reputation, so badly damaged by Comey, McCabe, Peter S and his lover, the lovely Lisa Page, and other top officials now dismissed or fired?
So many of the great men and women of the FBI have been hurt by these clowns and losers!

The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steele’s many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly.

It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC…

Should Trump use his executive power to end the Russia probe?

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton discusses how newly reported emails showed that Justice Department official Bruce Ohr continued to maintain extensive contact with former British spy Christopher Steele, long after the FBI cut ties with him. Fitton also discussed why President Trump may need to use his executive power to end special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

    • Judicial Watch sues DOJ for communications with Steele

Judicial Watch sues the DOJ for access to communications between Bruce Ohr, Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS; Tom Fitton explains on ‘Hannity.’

    • The left in the US is so deranged by the Trump Presidency his firing Mueller (he has every right and justification to fire him) will touch off riots that will be more destructive then any since the Miami riots in the 1980s. It will also touch off attacks on the police and government buildings at the left tries to destroy the Trump Presidency and the US as punishment for electing Trump. The civil war is coming but we don’t want it to be started by any action of the right.

      • I’m so fed up with this shite. Burn, baby, burn.

Let’s get the Koreans out on their store rooftops with shotguns and go from there. The Liberals haven’t a single clue between them.

    • That is want needs to be done, we don’t want the Government to get its hands on the net because if they do it won’t be long before they are determining who can post what they can post and where they can post. The problem we face is that so many of the younger generations have been taught that the government has to solve all problems.

Duck Duck Go might take a tiny bit longer or not give you picture-perfect results, but at least you aren’t being bloodhound-tracked through the online wilderness, EVERY LAST FLIPPING FLAPPING STEP OF THE WAY!

This “de-platforming” is pure political censorship, especially in advance of a critical midterm election and—in light of other electoral interference—represents serious attempts to manipulate America’s voting patterns.

    • Found the 25 points. This one is …………..interesting
“23. We demand that there be a legal campaign against those who propagate deliberate political lies and disseminate them through the press. In order to make possible the creation of a German press, we demand:
      ……..
Newspapers transgressing against the common welfare shall be suppressed. We demand legal action against those tendencies in art and literature that have a disruptive influence upon the life of our folk, and that any organizations that offend against the foregoing demands shall be dissolved.”

      Sounds familiar?

    • Rather tragically, at about video time point – 05:00 Molyneux makes the typical (and reprehensible) blanket mistake about how Atheists (or, by inference, Agnostics) are incapable of discerning morals or ethics. This is a steaming slop wagon-load of way-too-fresh manure.

During a sojourn in the Philippines—in discussions with an absolutely brilliant Jesuit priest—I totally fried his mind by precisely arguing that even a Devout Agnostic™ like myself, still has no alternative than The Path of Right Conduct©.

Put plainly, he was stunned to realize that even the non-religious might yet retain a deep dedication to charity, kindness, morality, and ethics that were once thought to be only the sole province of religious indoctrination.

Imagine the hilarity as I treated him (along with the local Archbishop—for whom he was his personal secretary), and some fellow parishioners, to a multi-course authentic Italian dinner.

Here is the appetizer I invented for the occasion:

Mix equal parts of Crosse & Blackwell’s seafood sauce with Herdez Salsa Casera (adjust for octane accordingly). Load this admixture into a chilled shot-glass.

Hang against the glass’s edge, two counter-opposing (freshly peeled and cooked) five-count prawns and serve immediately. Not a flaming complaint to be heard in the Cathedral’s main dining room.

In fact, the Archbishop asked for an extra round. That was yust before he turned down my bottle of Johnnie Walker and made the Monsignor drag out a +$100 bottle of Remy Martin Cognac. Yass, it was a good night.

    • From what Dyer said on Liberty Unyielding it was a short range missile that didn’t violate any treaties or agreements. They are pushing to see how far they can go without provoking a nasty response, their problem is that with Trump that response might include taking out a significant portion of their military.

    • Talk about classic “good cop – bad cop” maneuvers!

This is international, politico-economic jujitsu at it’s finest.

Electing a knowledgeable businessman as President may have been one of this nation’s finest choices. Identifying and exploiting the economic vulnerabilities of this country’s foes is one of the least-expensive alternatives to outright war.

      • It costs less money and fewer lives, with someone like Kim if he had the means to launch hundreds of warheads at us it might provoke a war but when they can’t reach the homeland most will back down rather then be totally destroyed. Of course no one ever said the Ayatollahs were even semi sane.

        • Of course no one ever said the Ayatollahs were even semi sane.

Of course no one ever said the Assahollahs were even semi sane.

          There, fixed that.

          Yust had to…

      • I think Trump is seeing a civil war in the near future and he is trying to disable as many of our enemies as he can before we get tied up fighting the civil war. With both Iran and Turkey out of the game for lack of money and possibly governments the Europeans will have an easier time in their civil wars.

With Venezuela out of the game this may let a new sane government form and keep a lot of migrants out of the US.

    • Bomber killed in foiled attack on Egypt church

The attacker targeted a congregation of Copts at annual celebration

Cairo: Egyptian security forces on Saturday stopped a man from blowing himself up at a church north of Cairo where a massive celebration was under way, police sources said.
Strict security on the road to the Lady Virgin Church in the area of Mosturd prevented the would-be attacker from coming too close to the place where hundreds of Coptic Christians were gathering at the annual festival, the sources added.

“His explosive belt went off while he was on the Mosturd Bridge, resulting in his instant death,” one source added, asking not to be named because he was not authorised to speak to media.

      No other casualties were reported.

Bishop Abdul Masih Basit of the Lady Virgin Church said that the attacker had dressed like a construction worker in an attempt to sneak into the gathering.

“But vigilance of security forces deployed in the area forced him to retreat, resulting in the explosion in his belt,” the cleric added in media remarks.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attempted attack.

Egypt has seen a wave of attacks, mainly targeting the minority Christian community and security forces since the army’s 2013 overthrow of Islamist president Mohammad Mursi following enormous protests against his rule.

The worst attack was in April last year when suicide bombers attacked two churches in the cities of Alexandria and Tanta on the Palm Sunday, killing 48 people. Daesh had claimed responsibility for the twin bombings.

  6. TUNISIA – Thousands of conservative Muslims protest Tunisia gender equality report

Thousands of conservative Muslims marched from Tunisia’s capital of Tunis to Bardo on Saturday, as part of a protest against a government report on gender equality.

The report by the Commission of Individual Liberties and Equality proposes, among other things, the legalisation of homosexuality and making the sexes equal in inheritance matters.

The commission was put in place a year ago by President Beji Caid Essebsi.

The protest – organised by the National Coordination for the Defence of the Quran – remained largely calm and without incident, despite the high passions felt by Tunisia’s religious right over the issues.

It follows a similar demonstration earlier this month, when hundreds protested against proposed reforms of women’s and LGBT rights.

Tunisia has long been seen as a pioneer for women’s rights in the Arab world, but campaigners say the country is still torn between conservative and progressive camps.

In September, the government scrapped a law that prohibited Tunisian Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men, a significant step in loosening the tight controls over women’s life choices.

The government is also visibly taking steps to address the country’s epidemic of gender-based violence, passing a landmark law in July which meant that rapists could no longer escape punishment by marrying their victims.

Similar laws were also passed in Lebanon, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan.

    ================================================
Thousands protest Tunisia gender equality proposals

Thousands of Muslim fundamentalists protested Saturday in front of the nation’s parliament to decry proposals in a government report on gender equality that they claim are contrary to Islam.

Men and veiled women marched under a blazing sun from Tunis to Bardo, outside the capital where the parliament is located, to protest the report by the Commission of Individual Liberties and Equality. The report, among other things, calls for legalizing homosexuality and giving the sexes equal inheritance rights.

Security was heavy during the protest, which remained calm despite the anger the report has triggered. The crowd, who came from towns around Tunisia, cried out “Allahu akbar ” as they marched.

The protest was organized by the National Coordination for the Defense of the Quran, the Constitution and Equitable Development.

The commission was put in place a year ago by President Beji Caid Essebsi, who is expected to speak about it on Monday, Women’s Day in Tunisia. It was not immediately clear whether the proposals would eventually be put before parliament.

The North African nation has, since its independence from France in 1956, been a standard-bearer in the Muslim world for women’s rights. But the proposals in the 300-page report, known as the Colibe report, would take human rights, including women’s rights, to another level. It proposes to end the death penalty and legalize homosexuality, which the current penal code outlaws and punishes with three years in prison.

The equal inheritance proposal is an abrupt change from current practices, which see males in a family receiving double the inheritance of females.

The topics touching on sensitive areas have riled Muslims who embrace a literal reading of the Quran, the Muslim holy book.

“I’m here to defend the word of Allah and oppose any projects that harm the Islamic identity of our people,” said Kamel Raissi, a 65-year-old retiree.

“We totally reject the Colibe report which contains an underhanded hate for Islam,” said Abdellatif Oueslati, a nurse from Jendouba, 155 kilometers (95 miles) west of Tunis.

The authors of the report say the proposals conform with the nation’s 2014 Constitution and international human rights obligations.

“They in no way contravene Islamic precepts, but embody an enlightened reading of these precepts, which put them in step with the evolution of society,” said Abdelmajid Charfi, a university professor who is one of the report’s authors.

Protesters at Saturday’s rally were not convinced.

Tarek Azouz worried that the proposals amounted to a “wish to destroy moral values” by legalizing homosexuality. If acted upon, he said, “we’ll end up with gay marriage.”
