  1. London bloodbath: Man fighting for life after attack at West Hampstead tube station (express, Jun 29, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/981651/london-news-west-hampstead-tube-station-closed-attack-jubilee-line-met-police-london-crime

“A MAN has been rushed to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries after a rush hour attack on the platform of West Hampstead tube station this afternoon.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene in north London just before 4.30pm after receiving reports of an assault.

A passenger reported seeing blood on the platform as her train passed through the station without stopping, the Evening Standard reports.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a major trauma centre.

West Hampstead station, on the Jubilee line, was closed for several hours as police scoured the scene. It has since reopened to passengers…”

    • Man fighting for life after attack…

The only way a person can be “fighting for life” is in a coma on a respirator.
I’m sick of that expression – breathlessly slapped on ledes by pathetic excuses for reporters. Choice cliché underscores casual indifference.

  4. World’s northernmost Islamic garden opens in Canada (mee, Jun 29, 2018)

“MONTREAL, Canada – How do you make thousands of years of rich traditions relevant to people today?

That was the task put before a group of architects, horticulturalists and designers, as it set out to build what would become a 12-acre Islamic garden housed in a most unexpected place.

The Aga Khan Garden was built on the grounds of the University of Alberta Botanic Garden, southwest of Edmonton in western Canada, after several years of planning and 18 months of construction.

Friday marks the first time the public can visit the northernmost Islamic garden in the world.

Organisers of the project say they hope the garden will promote tolerance and spark interest in Islam…”

  5. Judge Calls Out Mueller’s Motives

While allowing the case against Paul Manafort to continue a federal judge took the opportunity to tell Mueller what he really thinks his motivations are.

    According to the Washington Post:

A federal judge in Virginia concluded Tuesday that special counsels are given too much latitude and that the current one is prosecuting Paul Manafort only so he will offer evidence against President Trump.

But those thoughts do little for the ex-lobbyist, because U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III ultimately ruled that Robert S. Mueller III’s prosecution of Manafort on bank and tax fraud charges can go forward.

“Although this case will continue, those involved should be sensitive to the danger unleashed when political disagreements are transformed into partisan prosecutions,” the judge wrote.

Ellis made waves when he grilled prosecutors from the special counsel’s office last month, questioning whether the crimes Manafort is accused of committing while working for a Russia-backed political party in the Ukraine were outside the scope of their investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Although the judge allowed the case to continue this shows the growing distrust in the investigation. Calls are increasing for the probe to end, and the pressure is mounting on Mueller.

  6. Heeding Call to Bomb Will Blow Up in Left’s Face

And such pretty faces they are.

A restaurant refusing service to Donald Trump’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family represents the beginning of something more ominous.

“This is all going to get more extreme,” Hamilton Nolan writes at SplinterNews, a division of Univision. “And it should.”

Nolan envisions a repeat of the 1970s. He does not mean streaking at awards ceremonies or mass destruction of disco records at ballparks. He specifically cites the “thousands of domestic bombings” that occurred annually throughout much of the 1970s.
Bryan Borrough explains in Days of Rage, a history of the era’s radical bombing campaigns, that “radical violence was so deeply woven into the fabric of 1970s America that many citizens, especially in New York and other hard hit cities, accepted it as part of daily life. As one New Yorker sniffed to the New York Post after an FALN attack in 1977, ‘Oh, another bombing? Who is it this time?’ It’s a difficult attitude to comprehend in a post-9/11 world, when even the smallest pipe bomb draws attention of hundreds of federal agents and journalists.”

Donald Wofford, the case agent assigned to the FBI’s investigation of the FALN (the spelled-out acronym translates to Armed Forces of National Liberation), notes that although many early bombings by the Puerto Rican Communist group caused publicity rather than serious injury, the group ultimately killed five people and maimed dozens. Although some urban denizens became numb to the explosions, others

  7. Lies, Damned Lies, and Immigration Policy
The falsehoods that protect a political interest.
    June 29, 2018
    Bruce Thornton

No policy debate is more filled with dishonesty and duplicity than immigration. The whine of political axes being ground is continually drowned out by Emma Lazarus sentimentalism, “we’re a nation of immigrants” clichés, promiscuous virtue-signaling, and the current weepy melodramas of children “ripped from their mother’s arms.” The whole sordid business exists, of course, to perfume some simple truths: Leviathan Dems want more voters and more dependents of the entitlement-industrial complex; Wall Street Republicans want plentiful cheap labor. The only thing missing are the facts about the reality of immigration both illegal and legal.

Start with imprecise numbers. We are told that there are currently 11 million illegal aliens in the U.S. Others say it’s closer to 20 to 25 million. The point is, nobody knows. We do know that close to a third of federal inmates are illegals. But we don’t know much about the rest, except for those illegal alien “dreamers” on television lamenting how they have to “live in the shadows.” We don’t know the extent of the costs to taxpayers of illegal immigration, even as we are told by amnesty supporters that they are net contributors to the economy through payroll and sales taxes. But they don’t tell us if that sum subtracts the $26 billion sent back to Mexico. We do know that taxpayers spend $2 billion a year to provide medical services to illegal aliens just in emergency room visits. According to Christopher Conover, state and local circumventions of federal prohibitions against health care for illegals are indirectly costing taxpayers $17 billion a year in care for illegal aliens. And that’s just health care. Some estimates put the total cost of illegal aliens at $89 billion, while others go as high $135 billion.
