  1. Benghazi Attack Planner Khatallah Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison – US DoJ (sputniknews, Jun 27, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/us/201806271065835771-benghazi-attack-prison-khatallah/

“US authorities sentenced Libyan national Ahmed Abu Khatalla to 22 years in federal prison for the attack at the American Mission in Benghazi, the Department of Justice said in a press release on Wednesday.

“Ahmed Abu Khatalla, aka Ahmed Mukatalla, 47, a Libyan national, was sentenced today to 22 years in prison on federal terrorism charges and other offenses stemming from the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi, Libya. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and US government personnel,” the release said.

The Pentagon announced in June 2014 that as a result of a special operation, Khatalla was captured and detained in US custody.

A US jury found him guilty in 2017 of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, destroying property, carrying assault weapons, and placing lives in jeopardy within the jurisdiction of the United States, the release noted.

In the months following the attack, the events that took place in 2012 were the topic of several congressional hearings in which US lawmakers criticized how then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responded to the attack.

On the night of September 11, 2012, members of the Ansar al-Sharia group attacked the American consulate which resulted in the death of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.”

    • It would seem electricity reserves are depleted tonight in Tehran.

That the capitol of Iran’s electrical withholdings are inadequate to the task simply keeping its Central City lit at night utterly rips my heart into widdle-bitty pieces.

Isn’t there some way of ensuring that this blacked-out ANCIENT city has another way of guaranteeing that it can be a lamp-lit, Iron Age, piece of unlimed outhouse sh!tpot that Islam always has promised to be?!?

The notion that one of this world’s oldest population centers must, nevertheless, remain an unlit ghetto, sh!thole, of pestilence and penury is wholly indicative of what Islam promises for all other 21st Century Metropoli…

      • Yeah.

The protests seem to have stopped but this loss of power in the middle of the summer combined with the rationed water is going to bring more protests. If memory serves me right it took several months of protests before Jimmy Carter (What and ass) to order the Shah out of Iran. That was the beginning of the Second Islamic Conquest, maybe the fall of the Islamic Republic will start the end of the Conquest. This isn’t likely but we can always hope.

        • Thenk ewe, Richard.

This “Grand Game” is wearing just a little thin.

Pretending that this Le Théâtre du Grand-Guignol is anything less than the idiotic and suicidal call to attention that it really is, remains an unmistakable and direct insult to all ambulatory, room-temperature IQs. Such that “REALITY” remains a “Concept” (Hat Tip: Robin Williams) which continues to be a source that causes so much non-nuclear strife.

  2. MIGRANT CRISIS: EU should send BILLIONS in aid to Africa to stop chaos, German MEP says (express, Jun 27, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/980574/eu-migrant-crisis-european-union-immigration-germany-manfred-weber

“THE EUROPEAN Union should offer North African countries billions of euros in exchange for help with reducing the number of migrants who make the trip across the Mediterranean, a senior German MEP has declared.

Manfred Weber demanded EU leaders take immediate “concrete steps” to protect the bloc’s borders – including deploying troops to guard against illegal entry.

Processing centres in countries such as Libya, Egypt and Tunisia would allow claims for asylum and refugee status to be assessed before migrants reach Europe, Mr Weber said.

And he suggested billions in financial aid could be offered to North African nations in exchange for their cooperation.

The MEP, who is a close ally of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said EU leaders should look at striking a Turkey-style migration deal with North African countries.

During the height of the migrant crisis, the EU agreed to pay Ankara a total of £5.2billion (€6bn) for taking on more than three million refugees, largely from Syria and the Middle East, who had been hoping to reach Europe.

Mr Weber said a similar arrangement could be struck with North African countries and urged leaders from the EU’s member states to consider the idea at a major European Council summit which begins tomorrow.

In an interview with German news network Welt, the MEP said the EU’s border force should be immediately increased and deployed to Africa “in limited exceptional circumstances”.

And he suggested soldiers could be used to bolster the ranks of border guards if required.

He said: “The upcoming EU summit could offer North African countries billions of dollars in financial aid so that they can work together with us on the migration issue, similar to how they did it with Turkey.

“The aim is to provide protection and a point of contact for refugees, or to bring them directly from the Mediterranean or European external borders to new asylum centres in North African countries.

“It should then be decided who is entitled to asylum. Those in need of protection should be relocated to Europe safely and legally.

“It would be best to set up the first centre in a third country by the end of the year…”

      • Once you pay Dane Geld how do you get rid of the Dane?

Simple. Just like with the Vikings, either you Christianize civilize them or KILL them.

With Islam, it’ll be a little bit different but not a lot else.

Any inability of Islam to Westernize spells its DOOM.

Next up! Islam’s unwillingness to join the Modern World™.

        Tape at eleven. NSFW.

        • That is the way it is going to end, the unusually long peace after WWII brought about by the development of nuclear weapons is ending. We are returning to the historical norm of war which means that the nations that want to survive will have to once again put “Hard Men” in charge. The forced feminization of the west is about to end and the left is going to have to live through their worst nightmare.

The sleeping giant of the US is awake but isn’t reacting, not yet but the time is getting close. the 450 million firearms and the 8 billions rounds of ammo that are held by the US civilians are getting real close to being used for the purpose that the 2nd Amendment intended. Free Men are about to show why we have remained free for 200 years and are prepared to remain free for another 200 years.

            • Thank you, Richard, for this regular exchange of ideas. It’s a rare treat to encounter the sort of person that’s willing to engage in these Thought Experiments which make most Liberals and Born-Again Christians that I know go absolutely, howl-at-the-moon, barking mad.

    • … the 81st such probe undertaken in the capital so far this year…

Yet, STILL SO FAR, no mention of “jihad”. YOU STUPID FÜÇKÏNG FÖØLS.

BOY HOWDY, THERE’S SOME SERIOUS WESTERN-STYLE PROBLEM-SOLVING TOOLS, EH?

  3. ‘EU is HYPOCRITICAL and DISHONEST!’ Turkish fury as Brussels demands END to membership bid (express, Jun 27, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/980555/turkey-elections-eu-Tayyip-Erdogan

“TURKEY has launched a furious attack on Brussels after the EU published a highly critical report on President Tayyip Erdogan’s increasingly dictatorial reign in a blow to Ankara’s ambition to join the bloc.

EU ministers published a report which condemned Mr Erodgan and called for a stop to ascension talks on Turkey becoming a member state.

Turkey is “moving further away” from the EU and European values, according to the report which added Ankara’s membership bid had juddered to a standstill.

The report, published by EU ministers in Luxembourg on Tuesday, came after President Tayyip Erdogan won a fresh five-year term, and with it sweeping new executive powers under a constitutional overhaul.

The EU, concerned that Turkey is moving towards one-man rule, has not congratulated Mr Erdogan on his victory, though the leaders of some member states including Germany and France have done so.

However the report was today met with fury in Ankara, with Mr Erdogan’s foreign ministry issuing a stinging repost.

The ministry said: “The EU’s unjust and dishonest treatment of Turkey can be seen once again.

“It is hypocritical and inconsistent to argue that it is our country that moves away from the process despite the EU’s stance.

Ankara, whose EU negotiations began in 2005, has long complained about what it sees as European double standards. Some member states such as Austria openly oppose ever admitting Turkey, a nation of 81 million people, to the bloc.

Turkey added the EU has failed to uphold promises made in a March 2016 accord whereby Ankara agreed to curb the number of illegal migrants crossing from its territory to Europe.

The country has cut the number to a trickle but the EU has still to deliver on its promises to allow Turks visa-free travel to the bloc and provide substantial financial aid for some 3.5 million Syrian refugees hosted by Turkey.

In their report, the EU ministers said the “constructive cooperation” of Turkey had delivered “clear results” but made no new commitment on implementing the bloc’s pledges.

“With these conclusions, the EU declares it will not honour its commitments in the March 18 (2016) statement,” Turkey’s EU Minister Omer Celik tweeted in response.

The Turkish ministry said EU membership remains a strategic goal despite a big deterioration in ties, especially since a failed military coup in 2016 prompted what Erdogan’s critics see as a crackdown on dissent.

EU relations with Turkey have grown increasingly rocky in recent months and Brussels is now attempting to untie its migrant policy from its reliance on Turkey…”

    • Members of the House of Lords have mocked the suggestion that the government should monitor mosques and Islamic madrassas “hate speech”, calling for the UKIP Peer who asked the question to be monitored instead…

      “Checking the Checkers?”

Why-soever had that sprang to mind? Again, please retain foremost in thought that all quantifications must be kept to irreducible units of measure like, “furlongs per fortnight”.

Aside from that … Remember; above all else: Eschew obfuscation!

  5. Anthony Kennedy retiring from Supreme Court

Justice Anthony Kennedy, a crucial swing vote on the Supreme Court, announced Wednesday he’s retiring at the end of July, giving President Donald Trump another chance to fundamentally reshape the highest court in the land.

His departure could have massive effects on U.S. policy, particularly on abortion rights and gay rights nationwide. His announcement immediately raised questions about how long the court would stand by its earlier abortion rulings, including Roe v. Wade.

In a statement, the Supreme Court said the 81-year-old Kennedy will step down effective July 31. The judge called it “the greatest honor and privilege to serve our nation in the federal judiciary for 43 years, 30 of those years in the Supreme Court.” Kennedy wants to spend more time with his family, even though they were content with him staying on the court.

He also sent a letter to Trump on Wednesday notifying the president of his decision. The court adjourned for the summer earlier in the day.

“For a member of the legal profession, it is the highest of honors to serve on this Court,” he wrote. “Please permit me by this letter to express my profound gratitude for having had the privilege to seek in each case how best to know, interpret and defend the Constitution and the laws that must always conform to its mandates and promises.”

    http://presscorp.org/news/anthony-kennedy-retiring-from-supreme-court

    • Kennedy was a swing vote, he voted with the libs as much as he voted with the conservatives. Trump has promised strict constructionists for SCOTUS so this should give us 5 solid constructionists against 4 libs. Now if we could get one or two libs to retire.

        • Now we need to really turn out the vote for November the Dems are believing their bull about a blue wave and want to delay the nomination until after the election and the new Congress.

      • Now if we could get one or two libs to retire.

        Like they “retired” Scalia?

    • His departure could have massive effects on U.S. policy, particularly on abortion rights and gay rights nationwide.

The particularly weird part is that’s what the Liberals say about Trump, too!

It’s really important that they clarify their message … “Wink wink nudge nudge say no more, say no more!”

    • It will also be critical in seeing if the European nations can liberate themselves or if they will need to be liberated?

      • It will also be critical in seeing if the European nations can liberate themselves or if they will need to be liberated?

Ecktually, it’s not just the incessantly squabbling Muslims that I’m concerned about. What I’m really not looking forward to is any sort of competition from the Reds (i.e., China or Russia) when it comes to securing Europe’s nuclear inventory.

Any interference in that process may as well be an overt declaration of war (i.e., casus belli). This, mayhaps, could be the West’s most dangerous geopolitical challenge in our 21st Century.

With North Korea and Iran, respectively, attempting to (unwisely) cadge their way into the Nuclear Club™, it’s “Just Another Brick In the Wall”.

As in: The “Brick Wall” which Islam hits at transonic speed if it doesn’t lay off all of the pissy-@ss terrorist sh!te that they just cannot seem to give up (or get enough of). So be it (you demons from ENDABLE Hell).

        • And a swift “fü¢k you” solely because I’m still able to.

          Bless you, Vlad Tepes Blog!!!

        • That possibility is very real, if it occurs while Trump is President I will feel a lot better then if some Dem is President. Of course they say Pence is a good solid Conservative who believes in strict Constructionist interpretation of the Constitution and the Laws so if we can get a lot of the swamp/sewer drained before 2024 we may get lucky.

    • “The new Italian populist coalition government will crack down on illegal street vendors, many of whom are migrants, with high fines for both the vendor and the buyer of illegal goods…”

This is an Incredibly Smart Move™. These immigrants economic opportunists import—along with themselves and every other superannuated or retarded layabout in their home village with the same damned last name—all of the corruption, bribery, and graft from their countries-of-origin.

The “grey market” economy—that a Mafia-scarred Italian society knows all too well about—is where a lot of these invaders get their first toehold. It is an economic “leak” (much akin to foreign remittances—another lengthy story which desperately needs telling) that, left unattended, can threaten to breach the sane economic dikes that any country establishes to protect its own domestic financial machinations.

By wisely cracking down on this (seemingly small) “economic gateway”, Italy is giving both its small-business-owners and its indigenous citizens some modicum of relief from this ongoing invasion. Be sure that this is just one small stepping stone on a path towards total rejection ejection of these peripatetic parasites.

What will soon enough follow shall make all of this look like a picnic in the park.

    • Nothing like putting most of your population in targets for nukes and then arguing with your nuclear armed neighbors.

      • I bet China would like to “disappear” some of the worst-off 57 million. Without losing “face”, of course. Monsters.

    • Thank you so much, Richard, for reliably posting these China Uncensored clips. The value of this one single media channel is beyond priceless when it comes to obtaining a well-calibrated worldview of (what passes for) modern “politics”. Insert sausage-making quote >here<.

I'm obliged (and thoroughly happy) to admit that Chris Chappell really, "GETS IT!

His mere mention (at video time point – 00:01:57) of the, “Theory of Agglomeration Benefits”, is hallmark proof of Chappell’s admirable willingness to lift up Red China’s hind leg and give the West a (however unappetizing) peek at what lies beneath the veneer of civility currently being put on display for external (i.e., gwailou) consumption, is pure proof of this man’s journalistic valor.

As if the Chicoms’ own barely inhabited “ghost cities” weren’t sufficient proof, Beijing now insists upon pursuing their (thankfully and further) bankrupting scheme of erecting (hint, hint) whatever—new wine in an old bottle—reboot of Paolo Soleri’s Arcosanti or megalopolis designs from the 1970s.

Yoo hoo, Beijing! Big red truck! Please purchase a clue.

If a young Republic that landed and safely returned multiple manned lunar expeditions hasn’t bothered with constructing its own “ghost cities” and doesn’t even appear to be chasing whatever chimera-du-jour of Hyper-Metropolitan Arcologies, what does that say with regard to (as Chappell so appropriately and gloatingly sneers about) all of those Five Year Plans? Ten Year Plans? Fifty Year Plans? Insert von Clausewitz’s “Fog of War” quote about unpredictability, >here<.

As I so ever-endearingly enjoy trumpeting here and elsewhere, when it comes to resolving global security issues, Islam’s just a pimple on Communist China’s butt. Put a bit more plainly, how depleted would just Red China’s nuclear arsenal be after wiping most of the ummah from the face of this earth? Any questions? (Thankyouverymuch.)

The relatively minor irritant of Islamic terrorism could be resolved with a few launches within a few hours. Re-balancing this Asiatic equation away from the bloated, hyper-corrupt, superstructure of Maoism will require some seriously unpleasant homework.

Most unfortunate, above everything else is how, in all likelihood, a lot of decent Chinese people probably believe that Beijing’s splendid Centrally Planned Government™ has miraculously transformed their (superficially successful) economic world into the Paved Poisoned Paradise™ that we all recognize and have learned to hate so well.

Think: Los Angeles (back in the 1970s) where just living near a major intersection was the equivalent of smoking a pack-a-day of cigarettes. That’s pollution-laden Beijing of today. As in, a solid 10% of pollution in California’s Central Valley breadbasket comes from China. They aren’t just poisoning themselves.

When counterbalancing factors like China’s encroaching desertification (the size of England’s County Kent per YEAR), intensive surface (i.e., groundwater, riverine, and reservoir) pollution, of which over 90% is NOT POTABLE, the world’s largest MEDICALLY CAUSED HIV–AIDS EPIDEMIC (i.e., Henan Province “bloodheads”), along with this planet’s ABSOLUTE WORST (intentional) GENDER IMBALANCE, there snaps into crystal-clear focus a truly dismal scenario with regard to China’s realistic future (as opposed to the rosy prospectus that these Moron Mandarins continue to excrete upon us).

Wrenching one quarter of this world’s population away from such Communist Idolatry™ (you saw it here first!) will be neither pleasant nor easily accomplished. As Yuri Bezmenov generously notes, even presented with the unvarnished truth, it will take generations of young minds evolving in a non-demoralizing atmosphere before there can be any hope of significant (i.e., rational) traction taking place.

Now, imagine what awaits a psychologically recovering oppressed electorate of over one billion people whose brainwashing is surpassed only by that of North Korea or Iran.

As someone dedicated to the pursuit of truth, there is no turning away from or ignoring the bleak prospect of what will be required to reverse so much Socialist damage done to our world in Europe, China, and too many other places (e.g., Cuba) to count without taking my pants off.

Much like the way that this continually reopened Middle East (genocidal) wound—currently being passed off as the “Arab–Israeli Conflict—is a micro-example of how to defeat the overall macro-issue of global terrorism. Rest assured that resolution of the North Korean debacle will be a likely template for how to “deprogram” Communist China (and its regional water carriers, like a slowly awakening Vietnam).

Perhaps, more than anything, it is this imminent retooling of North Korea’s entire dyed-in-the-wool weltanschauung that is a précis for what awaits the eventual “decontamination” of Asia’s Middle Kingdom.

It is with an almost perverse sense of relief whereby I type these words knowing that I will, less-than-likely, live to see whatever related outcome awaits. Trust me, it was stunning enough to see the Berlin Wall fall within my own lifetime. The mere notion of Communist China getting it in the shorts before I take the dirt nap is a little beyond my own (admittedly unsettling and) optimistic expectations. North Korea? Hell yeah! Red China? I dunno…

    • Thing is, people in pain need these medications.
The Fentanyl patch is a miracle. There’s really nothing like for much palliative care treatment. It’s something I defend as a human right.
Like gun control. _It’s NOT the guns._
      And I’m a just-say-no kinda person.
I RESPECT drugs like I respect guns.

      • All tech is a double edged sword, the people who want to stop the war on drugs are very naive about what would happen if this was done.

  7. France sees huge rise in number of times police resort to using their guns (thelocal, Jun 27, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.fr/20180627/french-police-resort-to-using-their-guns-more-than-ever-before

“Figures made public for the first time have revealed a huge rise in the number of times police in France resort to opening fire with their service weapon. Some 14 people have been killed by police fire in the last year and around 100 injured.

The figures, which have never before been made public, were released by the General Inspectorate of the French police (IGPN) dubbed “the police of the police” in a move to appear more transparent.

They revealed that between July 2017 and May 2018 14 people have been killed and around 100 injured by bullets fired from police weapons.

Those killed include terrorists who had staged attacks such as the jihadist who killed who students at Marseille train station and the jihadist who went on a knife rampage in the Opera area of Paris in May before being shot dead by police.

According to the IGPN the number of times police use their service weapons rose by 54 percent in 2017.

In all, police firearms were used 394 times between 2016 and 2017.

Most cases were police officers firing their hand guns that they carry on them at all times, and many cases were linked to drivers refusing to comply with a police stop.

Among France’s gendarmes, military police who mainly patrol rural areas around France, the rise in the use of fire arms was 15 percent. The number of violent attacks against gendarmes have risen by 68 percent in the last year.

The figures have been revealed during a climate that has seen police protest against the rising violence they face on the ground whilst officers have also come under scrutiny for violence towards suspects, several incidents of which were caught on camera and posted online, creating yet further anger.

The IGPN revealed that the number of investigations opened against police officers accused of violence rose to 574 in 2017 compared to 543 in 2016.

Marie-France Monéger-Guyomarc’h from the IGPN said each case where a policeman has opened fire was followed by an internal investigation.

In February 2017 the previous French government passed a law that widened the definition of “legitimate defense” which effectively made it easier for police officers to use their guns without being punished.

The move was designed to help police respond more effectively to terror attacks.

The spate of terror attacks in 2015 also saw police forces in rural towns across France move to arm themselves. Municipal police forces which police small towns had been able to decide for themselves whether or not to carry arms, but were positively encouraged to do so after the November 2015 attack in Paris.”
