  1. China builds the world electricity network
A Chinese state-owned company buys itself into regional power grids all over the world. It is the first step in a three-stage plan, which will culminate in an intercontinental energy supply.

Gigantic wind farms at the North Pole, which are connected to solar parks around the equator: When Zhenya Liu, the long-time chief of the Chinese grid operator State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), speaks about the energy supply of the future, it is about the very big vision. It’s about a power grid that connects countries around the globe. At the center is his homeland, China.

By 2050, State Grid intends to realize the vision of the global power grid – in three steps: By 2020, we want to promote regional networking, by 2030, the expansion of renewable energy, by 2050, intercontinental networking.

Step one is already in full swing, according to the Financial Times. Since 2013, State Grid and other Chinese companies have bought around $ 123 billion into electricity grids around the world. Corresponding deals have been made, inter alia, in Chile, Brazil, Russia, Portugal, Nigeria, South Africa, Pakistan, Australia and the Philippines, the newspaper reported, citing a study by the Washington consultancy RWR Advisory.

102 billion dollars have been invested in the construction or takeovers of regional electricity networks, the remaining 21 billion, the Chinese have been awarded as loans for related projects. If one adds all the investments in power plants, it would cost as much as $ 452 billion.
State Grid had recently also tried to gain a foothold in Germany and take over a 20 percent stake in the power grid operator 50Hertz. After this provoked discontent in the federal government, the share went to the Belgian company Elia.
    Support from the top

China’s President Xi Jinping had already campaigned for a global energy network in September 2015 ahead of the UN General Assembly. He justified this by the need to distribute wealth and a contribute to world peace. State Grid chief Zhenya Liu himself emphasized that his goal was not to own and operate the power grids all over the world.

Nonetheless, behind the initiative there might be power-political motives. Power grids are regarded as extremely critical infrastructure, because after all, a stable energy supply is no less than the basis for a thriving economy.

Accordingly, critics in China’s venture see it as a complementing the construction of a new Silk Road whose goal is to better connect China with other countries along old trade routes. Around $ 900 billion will be invested to build pipelines, power plants, roads, railways, ports and airports. With the project Xi wants to build on the size of China at the time of Marco Polo.
The plan to create a global power grid is only made possible by a new technology, in which China is increasingly taking the lead: the so-called ultra-high voltage technology (UHV), in which 800,000 volts are conducted via DC cables or up to 1.1 million volts via AC systems become. This technique allows power to be transported over very long distances with comparatively low losses
While German companies are working on such solutions, UHV cables have been in use in China for years – on a grand scale. Former US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu once called the breakthrough in UHV technology China’s “sputnik moment”. As was the case in 1957, when the Russians launched a satellite into space in front of the Americans, the Chinese have now gained a technological lead in power lines.

    • Anybody that lets a foreign country control their power grid is stupid, letting a totalitarian nation like Communist China control your power grid is an action so far beyond stupid I don’t know a word that describes it.

      • In Australia not a few of the energy companies are china owned. This is the fault of conservative governments cashing in on them to fill the financial void created by socialist whores.

        • That is bad but not as bad as letting China control your power grid by producing the power in China and using power lines to distribute it.

As long as the power plants are in Australia the Australians can always seize control of them.

    • Permitting Communist China even slight control over the global power grid is a grave mistake.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/06/09/merkel-abandons-migrant-quotas-eu-soros-africa-plan/

“German Chancellor Angela Merkel has largely abandoned support for the European Union’s migrant quota system, instead, pushing for what she has termed “flexible solidarity” and a “Marshall Plan” for Africa to prevent illegal migration.

Merkel made her remarks on Wednesday at a meeting of the European People’s Party, a European Union parliamentary group of which Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CSU) is a member, Le Point reports.

“If we fail to provide a common answer to questions of illegal migration, the foundations of the European Union will be called into question. Action is really needed here,” she said.

Merkel appeared to drop support for the quota system passed in 2015 but successfully resisted by Hungary, Poland, Czechia, and later Austria under Chancellor Sebastian Kurz — and now the new Italian populist coalition government as well.

“As chancellor, I belong to the European Council… the question of a majority decision [in favour of quotas] is not relevant there. A solution on this subject will certainly have to be prepared in the European Council,” she added.

Merkel went on to talk about a “flexible solidarity system where everyone can contribute”, but neglected to go into any depth on the topic…”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/06/09/muslim-indicted-shaking-baby-death-blames-ramadan-fasting-edge/

“A Muslim man in France who was indicted for manslaughter for shaking his 5-month-old daughter to death blamed fasting during Ramadan for putting him “on edge”.

The 42-year-old man, who is said to have stayed at a hotel with his child while his wife went to work every day as the couple were still looking for a home, was indicted in a Versailles court this week for manslaughter after admitting to shaking the young child to death on May 28th, Le Parisien reports.

The man, who lives in the commune of Mantes-la-Jolie, is said to have reacted to the young child crying by shaking her and then throwing her on the hotel bed. The child once more began to cry and the Muslim man shook her again and threw her onto the bed but this time the child bounced off onto the floor headfirst and vomited.

Soon after, the 42-year-old took the child to a nearby hospital where she was diagnosed with a skull fracture and injuries commonly found in babies that have been shaken…”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/06/09/german-asylum-agency-employee-scandal-conditions-widespread/

“The scandal involving alleged bribes for asylum decisions at the Bremen branch of the German federal office for migration and refugees (BAMF) may be even more widespread as a senior member of the agency has claimed the conditions in Bremen were not an isolated case.

Rudolf Scheinost, head of the main personnel council of BAMF, testified before the interior committee of the German parliament this week that he did not believe the conditions in Bremen that led to the scandal were an isolated case, German tabloid Bild reports.

“Bremen is in every field office,” Scheinost is said to have told the committee.

The State Office of Criminal Investigation in Bremen have also increased the scope of their investigation into the affair, which now has some 50 investigators looking into the scandal which has rocked Germany for the last few weeks.

Also expected to testify before the committee are both the current head of BAMF Jutta Cordt and her two predecessors Frank-Jürgen Weise and Manfred Schmidt.

Weise recently spoke out about the scandal and blamed German Chancellor Angela Merkel for not acting after he had raised concerns with her on two separate occasions.

“The failure lies in the inaction [of the government] since the challenges that Germany would face with the arrival of refugees were clear,” Weise said, adding: “The crisis could have been avoided.”

New details have also emerged from the scandal in which some 1,200 asylum seekers were granted positive claims, allegedly for bribes, between 2013 and 2016, with reports claiming that 46 radical Muslims were granted asylum status and at least one of them was a known terrorist threat.

The scandal has deeply shaken the German public’s confidence in the agency, with a poll released in May suggesting 79.7 per cent of Germans distrusted the agency’s asylum rulings…”

  11. This is the week that the drone surveillance state became real

Affordable consumer technology has made surveillance cheap and commoditized AI software has made it automatic.

Those two trends merged this week, when drone manufacturer DJI partnered June 5 with Axon, the company that makes Taser weapons and police body cameras, to sell drones to local police departments around the United States. Now, not only do local police have access to drones, but footage from those flying cameras will be automatically analyzed by AI systems not disclosed to the public.

Footage will be uploaded or streamed to Axon’s digital cloud for police cameras, like the body cameras it currently sells, where it can be analyzed by Axon’s AI and used for anything from crowd monitoring to search and rescue, the company writes on its website.

A prominent Iranian politician admitted that Iran knowingly facilitated the passage of al-Qaeda members who later carried out the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, potentially confirming allegations in a 9/11 Commission report.

Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a former diplomat, member of a politically influential Iranian family, and current international affairs assistant in the Iranian judiciary, made the comments in an interview with Iranian state TV on May 30, according to an Al Arabiya report. The interview translation was independently confirmed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The 9/11 Commission Report was released on July 22, 2004. It is the official report of the events leading up to and after the events of the terror attacks, and was put together by the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States at the request of Congress and then-President George W. Bush.

There was strong evidence that al-Qaeda hijackers traveled through Iran “on their way to or from Afghanistan, taking advantage of the Iranian practice of not stamping Saudi passports,” the report stated.

    • A prominent Iranian politician admitted that Iran knowingly facilitated the passage of al-Qaeda members who later carried out the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, potentially confirming allegations in a 9/11 Commission report.

This is fairly common knowledge to anyone who has studied the counterjihad, or just the 9-11 Atrocity.

      • Yeah and those that don’t already know this are not going to read or listen to anything that disturbs their delusions of a peaceful Islam.

        • What very few will admit is that among those whom Iran allowed to transit was Osama bin Laden’s son. That alone is enough to implicate Iran.

          • And for a long time during the Bush II administration the same son lived in Iran under their protection.

  13. US pulls 2 more from Cuba amid new potential health cases

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States has pulled out two more of its workers from its embassy in Cuba and is testing them for possible brain injury, three U.S. officials told The Associated Press on Friday, amid concerns they may have been affected by mysterious health incidents harming U.S. diplomats in Cuba and China.

The two individuals are considered “potentially new cases” but have not yet been “medically confirmed,” a State Department official said. Two other officials said the individuals have been brought for testing to the University of Pennsylvania, where doctors have been evaluating, treating and studying Americans affected in Cuba last year as well as almost 10 new possible cases from a U.S. consulate in China.

The officials weren’t authorized to comment publicly and requested anonymity.

If confirmed by doctors to have the same condition, the two individuals would mark the 25th and 26th confirmed patients from the bizarre incidents in Cuba

    • Cuba and China are pushing hard for some nasty retaliation from the US, the problem is that until we can lay our hands on one of the weapons being used we have no proof of attacks on our people.

      • Get out some watt-meters and full-spectrum analyzers.

Measure in Cuba and then measure in Communist China.

If the waveforms and power levels match, who gives a rip about the hardware?

      • Cuba could become an interesting testing ground for strange, esoteric weapons. Personally the fact that they are attacking diplomats means IMHO that retaliation is not just appropriate but necessary. This seem Chinese inspired as I doubt that the Cuba would have the guts to go it alone.

This oughta be fun. When the “Palestinians” tried this stunt with a Soviet diplomat some decades ago, the KGB kidnapped a local warlord’s son and started mailing back body parts.

  14. Canada warns immigrants in U.S. about heading north of the border

MIAMI — As President Trump travels north to Canada to attend the G7 summit, Canadian officials have been heading south to try to stem a wave of undocumented immigrants headed their way.

In what has become an increasingly regular mission, Canadian representatives visited the U.S this week to warn immigrants fearful over President Trump’s immigration crackdown that they can’t simply rush north of the border to find safe haven.

Randy Boissonnault, a liberal member of Parliament and a special advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, visited South Florida this week to try to educate would-be immigrants about the limitations of the Canadian immigration system.

In the past year, Canada has seen bursts of U.S.-based immigrants crossing illegally into Canada, mostly into the Quebec province that borders New York and other northeastern U.S. states.

In August, Royal Canadian Mounted Police caught more than 5,500 people trying to illegally cross from the U.S. Those were mostly Haitian immigrants who will soon lose Temporary Protected Status as part of the Trump administration’s phase-out of the TPS program that has protected more than 300,000 people from countries struck by war and natural disasters.

Jodie Foster Is ‘Much More Comfortable Having Robots’ Own Guns

Hollywood actress Jodie Foster said she would be “much more comfortable having robots” own a gun than an emotional human doing so.

“I mean, I’d be much more comfortable having robots have them, but we are designed to have emotions that overflow and that are not guided by our heads,” the Hannibal star said in a recent interview with Indie Wire.

“To have sentient beings that are completely and entirely guided by their emotions have the power to administer life or death using one kilowatt of energy in a nanosecond is just unfathomable with me,” Foster added.

Foster is promoting her latest movie, Hotel Artemis, in which she plays a nurse who treats a gun shot victim who was shot in a gun-free zone — the kinds of places that have 100 percent gun control and are magnets for mass public attackers. The IMBD parental guide for the star-studded crime thriller says the film show “guns, most of which were apparently ‘printed’ at Hotel Artemis, [that] are brandished and fired,” brutal axe attacks, people “slaughtered” with a scalpel, and others killed by being injected with medicine intended for elephants.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5823019/Police-waste-3-750-hours-dealing-hate-incidents-trivial-considered-actual-crimes.html

“Police are wasting thousands of hours dealing with ‘hate incidents’ which are too trivial to be classed as crimes.

New figures reveal that 30 police forces dealt with 11,236 such incidents in 2015-16. Across the whole country, that works out at one every half hour.

Even if officers spent just 15 minutes following up each one, this would have taken up 3,750 hours of police time.

The reports included someone alleging racism when a man’s dog barked at them, a mother angry after her children fell out with others playing in the street and a man who claimed a tennis umpire had made racist line-calls against his daughter.

There were also people offended by newspaper cartoons and even a woman in Wiltshire who got upset when someone on Facebook said she looked liked Peter Griffin from the TV cartoon Family Guy.

One in 20 incidents reported to police related to social media posts.

Hate incidents are defined as hostility based on a personal characteristic: race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or if a person is transgender.

They are upgraded to a ‘hate crime’ if a law is broken.

Crucially, the police must record a hate incident simply on the word of the alleged victim, then investigate by sending an officer to visit or making a phone call.

Critics say this is a waste of resources amid fears that Britain is in the grip of an epidemic of unpunished theft and violence.

Official figures show that police don’t catch four out of five robbers and burglars…”

Chinese government hackers have compromised the computers of a Navy contractor, stealing massive amounts of highly sensitive data related to undersea warfare — including secret plans to develop a supersonic anti-ship missile for use on U.S. submarines by 2020, according to American officials.

The breaches occurred in January and February, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. The hackers targeted a contractor who works for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, a military organization headquartered in Newport, R.I., that conducts research and development for submarines and underwater weaponry.

The officials did not identify the contractor.

Taken were 614 gigabytes of material relating to a closely held project known as Sea Dragon, as well as signals and sensor data, submarine radio room information relating to cryptographic systems, and the Navy submarine development unit’s electronic warfare library.

TOKI, the state backed housing developer, built 564 km (350 mi) of the wall, while the governorates of the border provinces built 200 km (124 mi), the official told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.

Ankara had launched the construction project in 2015 to build an 826-km (513-mi) wall on the Syrian border, as part of Turkey’s measures to increase border security and combat smuggling and illegal border crossings.

Turkey shares a 911-km (566-mi) border with Syria, which has been embroiled in a civil war since 2011.

The wall was sealed along Turkey’s border provinces of Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Kilis, Hatay, Mardin and Sirnak.

Kunduz provincial governor spokesman Nehmatullah Taimuri said five members of the local police force were also wounded in Saturday’s attack on a police base in Qal-e-Zal district.

Provincial police spokesman Enhamuddin Rahmani confirmed the death toll and said eight Taliban fighters were also killed.

Papers reveal that ministers ordered erasure of prisoner files in 2014, say archivists

A museum studying Soviet prison camps has discovered a secret Russian order from 2014 instructing officials to destroy data on prisoners – a move it said “could have catastrophic consequences for studying the history of the camps”.

Up to 17 million people were sent to the Gulag, the notorious Soviet prison camp system, in the 1930s and 1940s. At least 5 million of them were convicted on false testimony. The p

  22. Actor John Cusack calls for coup against president, says he must be ‘eradicated by any means’
By Joe Newby June 8, 2018

It seems that Hollywood progressives have graduated from being completely unhinged and are now certifiably insane with their hatred of President Trump. On Tuesday, actor John Cusack called for a coup against the president on Twitter and issued what looks like a thinly veiled threat, saying Trump must be “eradicated by any means…”

He started by promoting the false claim that the Trump administration is putting illegal immigrant children in cages.

“There has always been two tracts the political and legal – mueller on it-
Political track -gotta vote out the death kult [sic] and every single enabler –
And We gotta shut down trump – scare the s**t out of them – get children out of cages,” he tweeted.

    • Last I checked, it is a criminal offense to make any sort of threats against a sitting president.

      • We both know that the Deep State won’t prosecute anyone for a threat to President Trump, if the threat was against Obama things would be different. Once again selective enforcement rears its ugly head.

  24. <strong<Pope warns oil executives: Climate change may ‘destroy civilization’

Pope Francis on Saturday issued a dire warning to top oil executives, saying that climate change could “destroy civilization.”

At a two-day conference at the Vatican, the pope called climate change a challenge of “epochal proportions,” according to Reuters.

He also said that the world must move toward using clean energy and a reduction in the use of fossil fuels.

“Civilization requires energy but energy use must not destroy civilization,” Pope Francis said.

The conference, organized by the University of Notre Dame in the United States, brought together executives from asset manager BlackRock, BP and Norwegian oil and energy company Equinor, among others.

The event was prompted by Pope Francis’ 2015 papal encyclical blaming humans for climate change and criticizing world leaders for not acting swiftly enough to address it.

The conference comes about one year after President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord. Trump has referred to global warming as a “hoax” and drawn criticism from the science community for stacking his administration with officials who deny the human role in climate change. During a meeting with Trump, the pope gave him a copy of the encyclical.

The pope told the group Saturday that global issues like poverty are “interconnected” to concerns about global warming and access to electricity.

“We know that the challenges facing us are interconnected,” he said, according to Reuters. “If we are to eliminate poverty and hunger … the more than one billion people without electricity today need to gain access to it.”

“But that energy should also be clean, by a reduction in the systematic use of fossil fuels,” he added. “Our desire to ensure energy for all must not lead to the undesired effect of a spiral of extreme climate changes due to a catastrophic rise in global temperatures, harsher environments and increased levels of poverty.”

  25. Russia, Too, Is Building a Giant War Cloud

It’s the latest improvement in the Russian military’s ability to operate off the rest of the world’s grid.

The Russian military is building a giant cloud, the latest improvement in its ability to keep operating if its connection to the global internet is lost, severed, or hacked.

“Russian Armed Forces will receive a…closed ‘cloud’ storage for proprietary and confidential information,” Izvestia reported this week.

The cloud will rely on data centers, built with all-Russian hardware and software at an estimated cost of 390 million rubles (about $6 million) and slated for completion by 2020, the report said. The first center has already been established in the military’s Southern District, an area that includes the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula and portions of battle-struck eastern Ukraine. Russian forces have launched multiple information attacks against Ukrainian infrastructure and government since 2014, in what many see as a concerted effort to destabilize the country. The new data center makes the Russian forces operating there less susceptible to Ukrainian counterattacks.

The cloud will connect to the Closed Transfer Segment, the Russian military’s massive internal network. Vladimir Putin’s top IT advisor has said that in wartime, the country could disconnect entirely from the global internet and run commercial traffic on the Closed Transfer Segment.

    • Tommy Robinson march CHAOS: Protestors CHASE police down London streets in violent scenes (express, Jun 9, 2018)
      https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/971931/tommy-robinson-march-london-rally-police

“PROTESTORS have clashed with Metropolitan Police officers at a march in support of Tommy Robinson in London this afternoon.

Thousands of protestors have taken to the streets in the capital to show their support for Mr Robinson, who was jailed for contempt of court after live-streaming a video outside Leeds Crown Court last month.

Shocking footage shows protestors chasing police down a street in central London, as officers attempted to fall back to a new position from which to contain the marchers.

Some protestors were shown hitting a police van with torn-down street signs, while traffic cones and other items were thrown at officers.

The video was shared on Twitter before being removed when social media users condemned the actions of some of the marchers.

A counter-protest organised by campaign groups Stand Up to Racism and Unite Against Fascisim has also been held in London.

Protestors marched from Trafalgar Square to Whitehall, where far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders addressed the crowd.

They chanted slogans and waved banners before listening to speeches by Mr Wilders and Ukip MEP Gerard Batten.

Photos show police and protestors clashing in violent scenes, with scuffles breaking out by metal barriers.

Other photos show police using batons in an attempt to bring crowds under control.

A Met Police spokeswoman was unable to confirm whether any arrests had been made at the rally.”

  26. Marching for Terrorism in London? No Problem

    by Judith Bergman

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12483/london-al-quds-terrorism

On Sunday June 10 in London, the yearly so-called Al Quds Day march — Al Quds is the Arabic name for both Jerusalem and for the day, invented by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who led Iran’s 1979 revolution that overthrew the Shah — will take place. The march is, basically, a call for the destruction of Israel, sometimes also Jews in general. Many other cities, among them Toronto, Berlin and Tehran, will also be “celebrating” the day.

Last year in London, around 1000 people waved countless Hezbollah flags, in honor of Iran’s proxy terrorist organization, while chanting slogans such as “Zionists/ISIS are the same, only difference is the name” and “From the river to the sea – Palestine will be free”. They also carried banners that said, “We are all Hezbollah,” (what a comforting thought for the British).

  27. Street crimes on the rise in Ramazan (tribune, Jun 9, 2018)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1731097/1-street-crimes-rise-ramazan/

“As law enforcement agencies claim successes in the ongoing operation against terrorists, banned outfits and militant wings of political and religious organisations, residents of Karachi face a sudden rise in street crimes as more than 3,327 residents of Karachi have been deprived of their valuable belongings, including cars, motorcycles and mobile phones, during the first 20 days of the holy month of Ramazan.

Although, no life was lost during Ramazan for offering resistance during attempted robberies, however, around three dozen people were wounded in various firing incidents over putting up resistance during robbing bids in various parts of the city.

Besides robberies, other crimes also continued in the city during Ramazan, in which around 18 people have so far lost their lives and some 31 have been injured in the holy month.

With Eid around the corner, people have been visiting markets frequently. However, they are constantly in a state of worry due to the rise in street crimes.

Official data shows a sharp rise in the theft of motorcycles and mobile phones in the first 20 days of Ramazan compared to the crime rate during the preceding month, indicating renewed activities of criminal groups and individuals in the city despite the ongoing operation led by the Rangers.

“640 mobile phones were snatched at gunpoint while 968 were stolen during the first 20 days of Ramazan,” an official said, citing figures compiled by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). “Similarly, 80 motorcycles were taken away by armed snatchers while 1,570 were stolen during the first 20 days of Ramazan.” The data also shows that two four-wheelers were snatched while 67 were stolen in the same period.

On the other hand, the police claim to have adopted extraordinary security measures for the last 10 days of the holy month. According to police statistics, as many as 19.356 police officials and personnel have been deployed to perform security duties during the last ten days…”
