  1. Initial volley fired? FBI arrests retired Senate staffer in connection with Russiagate leaks
    By J.E. Dyer June 8, 2018

This seemed to come out of the blue late on Thursday, 7 June, and only the bones of it are known from the early reports.

But it looks to be clearly related to the Russiagate inquiry.

The FBI has arrested the Senate Intelligence Committee’s former director of security, James A. Wolfe, on charges of “lying repeatedly to investigators” about his contacts with reporters. The charges apparently arise from an ongoing investigation of classified leaks, although it isn’t reported what case or cases the investigation may relate to.

That said, the New York Times report indicates that phone and email records for reporter Ali Watkins were also “seized” (presumably by the Department of Justice or FBI) in conjunction with the investigation that led to Wolfe’s arrest.

  4. Iraq arms cache explosions destroy Baghdad mosque

At least 17 people have been killed and 80 wounded by explosions that destroyed a mosque in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, medical sources say.

The government said the blasts on Wednesday night were the result of the detonation of an ammunition cache in the Shia Muslim district of Sadr City.

It did not give an exact location of the cache, but some security officials said it was inside the mosque.

The mosque was used by supporters of the Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr.

Too bad he wasn’t inside at the time. Sadr has disrupted Iraq’s hope of recovery.

  6. Germany issues arrest warrant for leading Syrian regime ‘torture official’ (alaraby, Jun 8, 2018)
    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/6/8/germany-issues-arrest-warrant-for-leading-syrian-torture-official-1

“Germany has issued an arrest warrant for the head of Syria’s notorious Air Force Intelligence Directorate, Jamil Hassan, who is wanted by Berlin for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Hassan – a key aide of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad – is oversees the regime’s most feared intelligence agency, which is believed to be responsible for the torture and murder of tens of thousands of civilians.

Germany’s chief federal prosecutor, Peter Frank, issued an arrest warrant against Hassan on Friday, due to the intelligence chief’s alleged role in the systematic rape, torture and murder of thousands of Syrians, according to Der Spiegel.

Lawyer and activist Anwar al-Bunni helped Frank compile the criminal complaint, using interviews with Syrians, some who now live in Germany.

Also used by the prosecution team were the thousands of chilling images smuggled out of Syria by a former photographer at a regime torture centre, known as “Caesar”.

After a long campaign compiling evidence of the Syrian regime’s brutality, Bunni said the arrest warrant against Hassan is just the start of prosecutions of key Assad figures…”

  7. Brotherhood-Linked Congressman Running to be AG of Minnesota
Keith Ellison would rather wage war on Trump in court than in Congress.
    June 8, 2018
    Matthew Vadum

Brotherhood-linked Congressman Keith Ellison is giving up his ultra-safe seat in the U.S. House of Representatives to run for the post of attorney general of Minnesota, a risky move in a state that isn’t as radically left-wing as his home district.

The primary election is Aug. 14.

Ellison, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) deputy chairman who essentially endorsed the violent anarchists and communists of the subversive Antifa movement, claims he wants to be the North Star State’s top lawyer to litigate away in a quest for justice.

“It was attorneys general who led the fight against [President Trump’s so-called] Muslim ban,” Ellison said after filing his paperwork on the final day allowed. “I want to be a part of that fight.”

“As Attorney General, I will push for equal rights under the law, for commonsense gun safety laws, and for criminal justice reform that ends unjust policies and creates a pathway for Minnesotans to reenter as contributing members of society.”

“No one — not even a President — is above the law,” he wrote in a statement. Minnesotans “need a fighter on their side,” he added, calling himself the “People’s Lawyer.”

Ben Rhodes trained to be a novelist and in his elephantine The World As It Is: A Memoir of the Obama White House, “some names and identifying details have been changed.” One name that hasn’t changed will be of interest to observers of the Iran deal, which Ben packaged to reporters who didn’t know anything. That would be Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, Ben’s fellow national security council staffer.

“She was an Iranian American and once interned for an organization that advocated for diplomacy with Iran,” Rhodes explains. “Sahar was a career civil servant for a decade, starting out in George W. Bush’s Pentagon. The stories made her out to be a Manchurian candidate, advocating for Iran’s interests within the Obama White House. Afterward, Obama invited her into the Oval office, ‘Don’t let them get you down,’ he said, posing for a picture with her in front of his desk. She kept a huge smile frozen on her face, fighting off tears.”

Later, Ben brought Sahar into his office for a pep talk. “We just can’t let them win,” Ben tells her. Sahar Nowrouzzadeh then drops out of the narrative, with no citations from any of the stories about her.

In “Iran Deal Architect is Now Running Policy at the State Department,” a March 14, 2017 Conservative Review story, Jordan Schachtel, describe her as “a trusted Obama aide,” at that time “in charge of Iran and the Persian Gulf region on the policy planning staff at the State Department.” Nowrouzzadeh is “a former employee of the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC), a non-profit that is accused of being a lobbying group for the Iranian regime.” NIAC’s current president, Trita Parsi, the piece noted, “has long held close relationships with top officials in the Tehran dictatorship.”

  9. Egypt’s ‘Baghdad Bob’ Dies On 51st Anniversary Of Six-Day War
    But the lies continue.
    June 8, 2018
    Ari Lieberman

June 5, 2018 marked the 51st anniversary of the Six-Day War, which, as its name implies, was won by Israel in six days. This past Monday, one of Egypt’s chief propagandists during the conflict, Ahmed Said, died. Said worked for the Voice of the Arabs, a Cairo-based station used by Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser to stir up the masses and whip them into a frenzied state of base Jew-hatred. Ironically, his death occurred on the 51st anniversary of the day that Israel humiliated his country and the Arab world at large. In three pivotal hours of the first day of the war, Israel transformed the Egyptian air force into an expensive heap of scrap metal.

Said was Egypt’s equivalent of the notorious “Baghdad Bob,” the nickname given to Iraq’s comical minister of information during the Second Gulf War, whose amusing government propaganda evoked both laughter and derision. While Israeli fighter aircraft – Mirages, Super Mysteres and Vautours – were flying over Egypt bombing and strafing Egyptian airfields, and Israeli armored and mechanized columns were thrusting into Sinai, Said was claiming that Egypt had shot down dozens of Israeli planes and that its tanks were marching on Tel Aviv.

Said’s imaginary phantom victory claims along with general Egyptian obfuscation as to the extent of the military disaster befalling the Egyptian army had calamitous consequences not only for Egypt but for Jordan as well. Fed on a steady diet of lies and misleading Egyptian broadcasts and government communiques concerning imminent Israeli defeat and Arab victory, Jordan’s King Hussein ordered his troops into action. Israeli pleas to the Hussein to stay out of the war had no effect on the “Little King,” who was by now undoubtedly intoxicated by the prospect of expanding his kingdom and “liberating” pre-1967 “Palestine” from the infidels.

  10. Pro-Israel Groups Pursue Criminal Aspects of Disruptions
Time to get tough with anti-Israel thuggery.
    June 8, 2018
    Edwin Black

Disruptions of pro-Israel events by anti-Israel groups continue to intensify into physical aggression and violence across campuses and even into the community. As a result, Jewish and pro-Israel groups have started to explore the criminal aspects of such incidents.

The invasion, disruption, and nose-to-nose intimidation of a May 17, 2018 Students Supporting Israel [SSI] event at the University of California, Los Angeles was one several red lines recently crossed for pro-Israel groups and many in the human rights community. The small UCLA gathering, dubbed “Indigenous Peoples Unite,” brought Kurdish, Armenian, and Israeli individuals to discuss their common bonds.

As shown in this video, beginning at minute 41, disruptors suddenly and loudly stormed into the room mid-session. One person grabbed a flag, demonstratively pulled away a desk placard, and threateningly cursed close to the face of a panelist. With bullhorns, whistles, staged dancing, and slogan shouting, intimidation brought the event to a halt.

The May 17, 2018 UCLA incident hit a nerve among some Jewish leaders. Previous Jewish and pro-Israel responses have long focused on formal requests for administrative relief, petitions, and public statements. Few of those efforts seem to have slowed the escalation of disruptive tactics. After the UCLA event, several Jewish and pro-Israel groups began considering responses based on Title 11 of California’s criminal code that might apply to such conduct—not as an exceptional response, as it was for the Irvine 11 who disrupted an Israeli diplomat’s speech, but as a new rule of thumb in California.

  11. Anti-Elite Canadian Conservative Leader Doug Ford Wins Landslide in Ontario as Liberals Wiped Out (breitbart, Jun 8, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/06/08/anti-elite-conservative-leader-doug-ford-wins-landslide-ontario-liberals-lose-party-status/

“Anti-elite Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford has won a landslide victory against the Canadian political establishment beating back the former ruling Liberal Party which have been reduced to so few seats they have lost official party status.

Ford and the Progressive Conservatives (PC) won a total of 76 out of 124 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario Thursday forming the first PC majority government in the province since 2003.

The former ruling Liberal Party under leader Kathleen Wynne, a staunch ally of federal Liberal party leader and current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saw a catastrophic collapse at the polls going from 55 out of 101 seats to a mere seven seats which disqualifies them for official party status in the assembly.

The loss is considerable for the Liberals, according to University of Toronto political science professor Nelson Wiseman who said: “They don’t get money for research, at the legislature. They don’t get representation on legislative committees. It means that they don’t get recognised during question period as a party, which means they’ll have a hard time raising questions.”

Many voters in Ontario railed against Wynne and the Liberals over a number of issues including the promotion of extreme social justice policies such as threatening to remove children from parents who do not accept their gender identity to substantial hydro bills, and reckless spending that made Ontario one of the most indebted governments in North America.

The defeat also represents a significant loss for Wynne’s long-time ally Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who has been at odds with U.S. President Donald Trump in recent weeks over trade issues and tariffs which Trudeau called “insulting” ahead of this week’s G7 summit in Quebec.

Seen as the closest thing to a Canadian Trump by many observers, Doug Ford, brother of the late former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, ran a campaign focused on standing up to the political establishment and the elites after winning the leadership of the PCs back in March of this year…”

May 1. Rana Irfan Aslam, a 51-year-old shopkeeper from Dundee, was sentenced to one year in prison for grooming a 12-year-old girl for sex during an 18-month period 20 years ago. The judge said it was the maximum possible sentence for the crime as Aslam did not engage in sexual intercourse with the girl. The court heard that Aslam gave the girl gifts of money, perfume and alcohol before sexually abusing her at various locations in Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and Fife between August 1998 and August 2000. In a blog post, Natasha Phillips, an expert on family law, explained that nuances in sentencing guidelines for non-recent abuse are resulting in unduly lenient sentences: “There are very real concerns about the way offenders of non-recent abuse continue to be sentenced and which bolster the view that unmerited leniency has managed to find its way into the system.”

May 1. Lewis Ludlow, a 26-year-old convert to Islam from Rochester, was charged with planning “a large scale multiple casualty vehicle-borne attack” on tourist hotspots in London. He was also charged with trying to join the Islamic State, in the Philippines.

May 1. Karen Sunderland, a Tory candidate for Town Council in Lewisham, London, was suspended after comparing Islam to Nazism on social media. Her offending tweet read: “Love your optimism. The thing is, religion undermines the hard fought for values and tolerances of progressed countries…suppresses free speech and is auto immune from criticism. This is toxic and where the hostility comes from. Religion is totalitarian. Islam has become the new Nazism.”
