  1. TURKEY – Iraqi refugees foiled after wrapping themselves in aluminium in a bid to smuggle themselves into Europe

Seven Iraqi migrants were caught wrapped up in aluminum foil in a bid to go undetected through x-ray detectors at an Turkish port as they tried to smuggle themselves to Europe.

Reuters reported they were refugees on a truck trying to head to Italy when they were caught on Wednesday.

The men were in a shipping container on the truck which was meant to be carrying car parts, according to local reports.

When the container went through the x-ray scanner in Istanbul, customs officials noticed an unusual weight. When they looked inside, the officials saw feet and arms peeking out of aluminum foil.

The group were reportedly detained along with the driver of the truck.

Video posted on the Hurriyet news website shows the group at the back of the truck sitting behind green boxes.

Some of the men were holding pieces of aluminum to their heads to obscure their faces with holes over their noses and mouths.

A man off screen tells the group to “stand up, stand up, stand up” and repeatedly urges them to come to him.

They eventually take off the foil and climb over the boxes and out of the truck.

  2. Channel 4 – Tommy Robinson is in prison and this is why

Tommy Robinson has been jailed for 13 months after streaming a Facebook Live outside a court in the UK. His supporters say he was just exercising free speech and a campaign for his freedom – #FreeTommy – has spread across social media.

He was charged with contempt of court for the second time in a year and sentenced on the day of his arrest. So is Tommy Robinson being victimised in an effort to silence him? Or is he guilty of a serious crime that could have threatened justice being served in an active criminal case?

In this So What we look at who Tommy Robinson is, what he did in Leeds and whether his punishment was fair.

On April 1913, a fire broke out in the home of MP Arthur Du Cros. The British pneumatic tire pioneer and politician wasn’t there at the time. The house had been rented for only a few weeks before the fire and it was fortunate that no one was inside when it went up in flames so extreme that firemen continued to battle it for an entire day. The authorities suspected that explosives had been used.

A train headed for Teddington Station was set on fire. A bomb went off at a greenhouse in a public park in Manchester. The fires and bombings were part of a nationwide terrorist campaign. But, unlike the bomb planted in the street outside the Bank of England or letter bombs sent by her colleagues, these attacks were centered around one woman who would also become a key figure in Planned Parenthood.

Despite the British setting, the attacker was actually a German actress who would die in America. But the most notable part of Kitty Marion’s career involved a series of arson attacks and bombings over women’s suffrage. Burning homes and trains, and planting bombs, did not convince a single person to support votes for women. Instead it only harmed the progress of a worthy cause.

But that had always been the intention.

  4. Google’s New Slogan
One suggestion to make it even more fitting.
    June 7, 2018
    Dennis Prager

The original slogan of Google was “Don’t be evil.” When Google changed its corporate name to Alphabet in 2015, it changed the slogan to “Do the right thing.”

If it were to be true to its values, Google should have changed its slogan from “Don’t be evil” to “Don’t fight evil.”

Here is The New York Times report from this past Friday: “Google, hoping to head off a rebellion by employees upset that the technology they were working on could be used for lethal purposes, will not renew a contract with the Pentagon for artificial intelligence work …

“Google’s work with the Defense Department on the Maven program, which uses artificial intelligence to interpret video images and could be used to improve the targeting of drone strikes, roiled the internet giant’s work force. Many of the company’s top A.I. researchers, in particular, worried that the contract was the first step toward using the nascent technology in advanced weapons. …

“About 4,000 Google employees signed a petition demanding ‘a clear policy stating that neither Google nor its contractors will ever build warfare technology.'”

CBS News reported that the petition also said, “We believe that Google should not be in the business of war.”

In other words, to the heads of Google and thousands of its elite employees, it is immoral to aid in the defense of their country, and all war is immoral.

  5. Islam Arrested in Racist Halal Sriracha Attack on Black Woman (VIDEO)

Halal food carts are a blight on every city. Halal is an Islamic term for its meat. But Halal carts have gone far beyond the Muslim settlements to peddle their vendors to everyone.

Aside from the dubious quality of the food, the toxic smell of burnt meat that assails you for two hundred feet in every direction, and standard of customer service last experienced by guests of Saddam Hussein, there’s the notorious violence problem.

In New York City, the Halal carts are known as the Halal mafia for harassing other vendors.

Don’t let your sons grow up to be Jihadis. It will make for some very uncomfortable family reunions.

A Melbourne woman who told how she felt like an “animal” and a “slave” while practising Islam says she hopes she’ll inspire other female Muslims to “free themselves” from the religion.

Nadia (last name with held) and her eldest daughter Allawea are now in hiding, after their family turned against them when the pair denounced Islam.

“It is in an honour for them to kill somebody whose turned away from Islam, and their own mother has turned away from Islam so I mean nothing to them,” the 40-year-old told A Current Affair.

Things escalated in October last year, when Nadia’s two eldest sons turned up at her former home in Melbourne’s western suburbs, brutally bashing her new husband.

“They were screaming we’re going to kill you, we need you dead,” she told ACA.

“I watched my children giving me their seconds off their plate … and that was okay because I was western and white, and not Muslim,” she said….

  7. Trump presses DOJ not to let ex-Dem IT aide Imran Awan ‘off the hook’

President Trump on Thursday urged the Justice Department not to let former Democratic IT aide Imran Awan “off the hook” amid indications that Awan could soon strike a plea deal with federal prosecutors.

“Our Justice Department must not let Awan & Debbie Wasserman Schultz off the hook,” Trump tweeted. “The Democrat I.T. scandal is a key to much of the corruption we see today. They want to make a ‘plea deal’ to hide what is on their Server. Where is Server? Really bad!”

  8. Liberals Attack Dinesh D’Souza, Ignore Clinton Scandal(s)

In the wake of Dinesh D’Souza’s presidential pardon, the Left’s hypocritical outrage has hit a new low.

Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) recently slammed President Trump’s “get-out-of-jail-free cards,” claiming he “doesn’t care about the rule of law.”

Dan Pfeiffer, a former Obama advisor, suggested President Trump vacated the “moral high ground” in pardoning D’Souza. The left-leaning Brennan Center, meanwhile, concluded: “The pardon power is there to be used to make sure that nobody is truly held accountable.”

These same anti-Trump liberals remain deafeningly silent when it comes to criticizing Hillary Clinton, a notoriously shady fundraiser whose family’s misconduct led to the criminalization of what D’Souza did in the first place.

  9. Houston Democrat battles to keep non-citizens on voter rolls

Houston’s registrar says she’s under no obligation to remove non-citizens from her voter rolls under the National Voter Registration Act, testing the limits of how far states and localities can go in trying to thwart efforts to clean up their election lists.

Ann Harris Bennett, registrar for Harris County in Texas, is battling to keep secret the names of non-citizens who signed up to vote and, in some cases, may have even cast ballots. In a federal court filing last week she said people can be removed for other reasons, but there is no requirement she erase names of people even after they tell her they aren’t citizens.

“Once a person is officially registered to vote, a state may only remove them from the voting list if: the person dies, changes residence, asks to be removed from the list, or becomes ineligible under state law because of criminal conviction or mental incapacity,” Ms. Bennett said in court papers. The National Voter Registration Act “does not create any obligation for a state to conduct a list maintenance program to remove the names of voters who may be ineligible due to lack of citizenship.”

  10. The Swamp Strikes Back

    by J. Christian Adams

Each week, Robert Mueller’s Wonderlandian investigation into “Russian Collusion” appears “curiouser and curiouser”. Each week, it appears that the entire investigation never really had anything to do with Russian collusion, at least in the Trump campaign; only in the Hillary Clinton campaign, where all the investigators have been conscientiously not looking.

First, Mueller indicted General Michael Flynn for not telling the truth to an FBI squad that appeared unexpectedly at the White House to question him, when now it turns out that Peter Strzok, who interrogated him, said he had not lied. It also now turns out that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe may later have altered Strzok’s interrogation notes, and then destroyed the evidence.

Mueller then indicted Paul Manafort for allegedly laundering money through an Alexandria, Virginia, oriental rug store — a “process crime”. Notably absent from it in any indictment was mention of Russia, collusion or even elections.

Moreover, the order from the Department of Justice, signed by Rod Rosenstein, stipulated one more directive:

  11. The only leader of an American Jewish organization I respect is Mort Klein. The others are “Court Jews” at best.

[That’s got a bad name today, but not before widespread emancipation toward the end of the 18th and 19th centuries. Anyway, they’re my kin going back some 800 years: https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/court-jews.%5D

Mort Klein is impeccable. So when he went to Qatar at the urging of the Emir, I figured maybe Qatar was really turning a new leaf. Like the PR package we’ve been sold about MbS.

The following statement is extremely discouraging.

    • North Korea rapidly is outliving its usefulness to Communist China. As Gorka notes, buffer states don’t usually pose more of a danger than not. One can only speculate as to whatever behind-the-scenes pressures Trump is applying to Beijing during this process.

      • Yeah, if we promise to keep our troops in the South China may decide that Kim has served his purpose and allow reunification.

    • Normally BPS is quite intelligent but this one says he isn’t looking deep enough at what is happening in the world. If we pulled out of all of our locations around the world how long would it take for Islam, Russia or China to take over large sections of the world? During the Cold War Which started in the 1940s and ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s I heard a lot of people talk like he is, how all we needed to do was bring the troops home and there would be no trouble in the world. Obama tried that in Iraq and look at what happened. Iran moved in and ISIS was formed with the help of Obama and Hillary. This war is a war for the survival of freedom in the world and for the ability to reform a civilization that cares about the rights of all people. A Civilization that believes that no politician is to be given a pass when they are corrupt, a civilization that is what we tried to create in Western Civ. For a while we came close to creating this type of civilization I described but fell short when the self proclaimed elite decided that the laws that were written for all didn’t apply to them. Then in the self proclaimed elite took it upon themselves and their Judges to decide to ignore the law and investigate the enemies until they could find a crime to prosecute them for and to imprison their political enemies so the corruption of the self proclaimed elite could be semi hidden. This is the world that would be created if the US pulled our troops out and tried to ignore the rest of the world.

“Hostilities against Muslims in France have increased including shootings, sexual assaults, arson and the desecration of places of worship during the holy month of Ramadan, the head of the country’s National Observatory Against Islamophobia has said.

Speaking to Algeria’s APS news agency, Abdallah Zakri explained that attacks against Muslims are not new.

The organisation revealed in a report last month that the rate of attacks against Muslims increased by 15 per cent in the period from 1 January to 31 March.

According to the report, as many as 30 hostile acts against the Muslim community have been recorded during that period compared to 26 attacks in the same period last year.

Meanwhile threats against Muslims increased by 138 per cent in the period between 1 January and 31 March compared to the same period last year.

According to the Observatory, as many as ten hostile acts against mosques and religious sites have been recorded since the beginning of this year compared to 18 acts recorded in the same period last year.”

  13. Four men injured in shooting northwest of Stockholm (thelocal, Jun 7, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.se/20180607/four-men-injured-shooting-tensta-stockholm

“Four men were injured in a shooting in Tensta, a suburb of northwest Stockholm, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police have opened an investigation into attempted murder and bodily harm.

“No one has been arrested currently, but there’s intensive work going on and we’re talking to witnesses,” said Åsa Wallentin, a police spokesperson.

Police received calls about a suspected shooting at around 00:30 am on Thursday, and when they arrived at the scene, close to Nydalsparken and Tensta allé, they found three people with gunshot wounds. Police haven’t shared information about the severity of the injuries, other than to say that the injuries were all to the lower body, and that all three were conscious and responsive.

“A fourth person had been taken to hospital by a member of the public,” Wallentin said. The other three were also taken to hospital after being found by police.

One of the victims is believed to have been a passerby, and was standing on a bridge around 100 metres away from where shots were fired. He received a surface wound to the leg, and in his case the charge is of bodily harm rather than attempted murder.

The area was cordoned off overnight as police carried out examinations of the crime scene.

Figures from 2017 showed that there were 306 confirmed shooting incidents during the year, many of them connected to local gangs, resulting in 41 deaths and 135 instances of injury.

The incident on Thursday was at least the third instance of gun crime in Tensta so far in 2018. According to Expressen, two men were injured in separate shootings in the area in March and April.

As The Local has previously reported, official figures show that while deadly violence has decreased in Sweden compared to the 1990s, the number of gun deaths appears to be on the rise.”

  14. United Kingdom
    Unemployment by ethnic background

The unemployment rate varies considerably among different ethnicities. This note looks at unemployment by ethnic background, including analysis by age group and gender.
    Jump to full report >>

The UK unemployment rate (the proportion of the economically active population who are unemployed) was 4.2% in January-March 2018. The unemployment rate was 3.8% for the White ethnic group compared to 7.1% for people from a BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) background, although the rate varied between different ethnic minority groups.

Both these figures have decreased over the past year. In January-March 2017, the unemployment rate was 4.1% for the White ethnic group and 7.9% for people from a BAME background.

Following the recession unemployment rates increased, up to 7.8% for people from a White background and 14.7% for people from a BAME background. The rate for people from a BAME background only fell below the post-recession high for people from a white background in the last year.
    ***********************************
A summary of unemployment data for January-December 2017 by ethnic background is displayed in the table below. The unemployment rate is highest for people from a Bangladeshi background at 12%, followed by those from a Pakistani or Black background (both at 10%).

The unemployment rate for Bangladeshi and Pakistani people aged 16-24 was the highest at 25% in the year to December 2017. This compared to youth unemployment rates of 11% for the White ethnic group (the lowest) and 23% for people from a Black ethnic background (the second highest).

The White ethnic group had the lowest unemployment rate in all age categories.

  15. TF1 / LCI INFO – Terrorism: an Iraqi political refugee suspected of having been an ISIS cadre arrested in France for “crimes against humanity”

According to our information, an Iraqi who had obtained official refugee status in France was jailed for allegedly playing a key role in the organization of ISIS in his native country. It is alleged he have been an executioner [for ISIS] , he is also prosecuted for “crimes against humanity”. A first for the French anti-terrorist services. The state has just withdrawn his refugee status.

    07 June 14:00 – Georges Brenier

For many months it has been one of the fears of the French intelligence services: terrorists infiltrated the ranks of refugees from Iraq and Syria in recent years. A fear that was not unfounded if one to see the profile of Ahmed H. This 33 years old Iraqi was arrested on 6 March at dawn at his home in Lisieux in Calvados by the DGSI (Directorate General of Internal Security).

The investigators suspect him of having been a local cadre of ISIS in his country, but also of having played an important role in one of the worst massacres perpetrated by the terrorist organization: the killing at the “Speicher” military base in Tikrit in June 2014. 1700 young recruits from the Iraqi army had been executed.

    “Assassinations”, “war crimes”
The Paris public prosecutor had opened a preliminary investigation against him last September. An Interpol red notice – acting as an international arrest warrant – was issued in February 2018. After 48 hours of detention, Ahmed H. was indicted and imprisoned as requested by the prosecution. Four Parisian investigating judges have since been in charge of the case. Judges from both the anti-terrorist section and – this is a first – from the Crimes Against Humanity division.

  19. Top Senate staffer arrested in leak probe, after NY Times reporter’s records are seized

The former security director for the Senate Intelligence Committee had been in three-year relationship with a New York Times reporter.

WASHINGTON — A longtime staffer for the Senate Intelligence Committee has been arrested on charges of lying to investigators probing the potential leaking of classified information, the Justice Department announced Thursday night.

A federal grand jury indicted the staffer, James A. Wolfe, 58, on three counts of making false statements in December about contacts with reporters, including providing sensitive information related to the work of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which he served as security director for 29 years. He was arrested Thursday and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on Friday.

His arrest comes just one day after the full Senate, with little advance notice, quietly authorized the committee to cooperate with the Justice Department regarding what was described only as an “investigation arising out of allegations of the unauthorized disclosure of information.” The 15 members of the committee were briefed on the circumstances of the investigation Monday night.

Also Thursday evening, The New York Times reported that the telephone and electronic communications of one of its reporters were seized by the Justice Department in February as part of the investigation. The reporter, Ali Watkins, declined to comment.

The Times said F.B.I. agents approached Watkins about a previous three-year romantic relationship she had with Wolfe, asserting that Wolfe had helped her with articles while they were dating. But Watkins told the Times that Wolfe was not a source of classified information for her.

The Times said in a statement that the action by the Justice Department “will endanger reporters’ ability to promise confidentiality to their sources and, ultimately, undermine the ability of a free press to shine a much needed light on government actions.”

That Wolfe is charged with improperly handling sensitive committee material represents a major breach; the security director is the person entrusted to administer the strict confidentiality procedures for all member offices and committee staffers. The Senate Intelligence Committee, like its House counterpart, has been largely consumed for the past 18 months with an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“Mr. Wolfe’s alleged conduct is a betrayal of the extraordinary public trust that had been placed in him,” said Jessie K. Liu, U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. “It is hoped that these charges will be a warning to those who might lie to law enforcement to the detriment of the United States.”

During his tenure, Wolfe escorted every witness who testified before the committee in connection with the Russia probe.

Contacted by NBC News on Wednesday night about the unusual Senate vote, Wolfe denied that it involved any potential wrongdoing by him and that he had been contacted by federal law enforcement officials. Reached again Thursday night, Wolfe declined to comment.

At least one case in which Wolfe is alleged to have improperly shared classified information involved the Russia probe. According to the indictment, a classified document was provided to the Senate committee in March 2017 that involved an individual identified as “Male 1.” Wolfe “received, maintained and managed” the document on behalf of the committee.

That night, Wolfe is alleged to have exchanged 82 text messages with a reporter and also spoken to her by phone. On or about April 3, an article was published under that reporter’s byline revealing the identity of Male 1.

Watkins was a reporter for BuzzFeed at that time. An April 3 article with her byline revealed that former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page “met with and passed documents to a Russian intelligence operative” in 2013.

Committee rules explicitly state that no senator or committee staff member “shall disclose, in whole or in part or by way of summary, the contents of any classified or committee sensitive papers, materials, briefings, testimony, or other information received by, or in the possession of, the committee to any other person,” except as authorized by the committee. Sharing such materials with executive branch officials or members of the House Intelligence Committee is allowed but only under limited circumstances.

Anyone found in violation of the committee rules could be referred to the Senate Ethics Committee. Wolfe abruptly ended his long tenure with the committee last winter.

Journalism advocacy groups have accused the government of overstepping the First Amendment in its targeting of journalists in leak investigations, a campaign that began during the Obama administration.

President Donald Trump’s attorney general, Jeff Sessions, disclosed in August that the Justice Department had tripled the number of criminal leak investigations, signaling that federal investigators are expanding the previous administration’s aggressive policy.
