  1. Is the Russia Conspiracy Theory About to Morph into an Israeli Conspiracy?
    June 6, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

The Russia conspiracy theory was always an awkward fit.

Hillary Clinton had come bearing a Reset Button to Russia. Obama had run on a Russian reset and there he was on a hot mic telling Russia’s Medvedev that he’d have more flexibility to sell out our interests after the election. And the whole Russian hysteria has a strange McCarthy air from the faction that turned McCarthyism into a swear word.

The left is having a good time shouting about Russian traitors with no hint of irony. But it can still only last so long.

What about a conspiracy involving a country that the left really loves to hate, that is often the subject of conspiracy theories and that can really get its anti-Semitic juices flowing?

Here’s Jordan Shachtel discussing Robert Mueller’s turn of interest toward Israel. And an ugly history of targeting Jews.

  2. Huffington Post’s Luke O’Brien: “No Remorse” For Doxxing Counter-Jihadi
Leftists believe that those who dissent from the Left’s agenda have no rights that Leftists are bound to respect.
    June 6, 2018
    Robert Spencer

Since being doxxed by far-Left Huffington Post “journalist” Luke O’Brien, as I wrote about here at FrontPage on Monday, the popular Twitter counter-jihadi @AmyMek has seen her husband fired from his job and some of her family disavow her. She has received multiple death threats, including some in the Huffington Post itself. But the intrepid O’Brien is unrepentant, claiming victim status for himself and asking: “Why would I feel remorse calling out a bigot?”

O’Brien also lamented: “If a bigot like @AmyMek can spew hate for five years without being corralled and then prompt death threats directed at a journalist before he even publishes his story, it’s going to be hard to save social media.”

Of course. A “bigot” such as Amy Mek needs to be “corralled.” A family is in tatters, a man has lost his job, and a woman is living in fear for her life. And as far as Luke O’Brien is concerned, she had it coming, because she held opinions that are unacceptable to today’s media and political elites.

In his infamous Dred Scott decision of 1856, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney declared that black Americans were “so far inferior, that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect.” Nowadays everyone considers such language abhorrent; yet the Left today, while not proposing to reduce dissenters to slavery, does consider them “so far inferior” that they have “no rights” that Leftists consider themselves “bound to respect.”

  3. When Benny Met Barry
The Obama era, as portrayed by proud supporter of the Iran deal and “Cuba opening.”
    June 6, 2018
    Lloyd Billingsley

As a speechwriter and deputy national security advisor, Ben Rhodes wielded considerable clout, but his true claim to fame flowed from comments he made about the Iran deal. Reporters were young and “literally know nothing,” so Ben had been able to create an “echo chamber” in which “they were saying things that validated what we had given them to say.”

Rhodes makes a lame attempt to disown the connection, but he is on record that “I’d made myself an easy mark,” and that he wanted a deal “even if Iran doesn’t change.” Rhodes was ideal for this task, critics said, because he trained as a writer of fiction. He was a storyteller, like David Axelrod, and his boss was down with that.

“The notion that there’s something wrong with storytelling,” Rhodes has his president saying. “I mean, that’s our job. To tell a really good story about who we are.” This one could use some stool softener, and readers should see it in context.

Rising Star, by Pulitzer Prize winner David Garrow, was the authorized account of The making of Barack Obama. Ben Rhodes’ The World As It Is, as the subtitle explains, is the authorized memoir of the Obama White House, but it doubles as a press release for Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

The deputy national security advisor finds hints of Russian influence on “made-up stories about Hillary, her ill health, her corruption, her crimes.” Rhodes found it “impossible to know where they all began; which ones came from the American right and which ones came from the Russians; how they spread; whether this flood of content was coincident or coordinated with the Trump campaign.”

  4. Kite Terror Causes Ecological Destruction in Israel
Those launching floating bombs should be treated no differently than hostile armed combatants.
    June 6, 2018
    Ari Lieberman

Kite terror, the phenomena of Gaza’s “peaceful” Arab rioters utilizing free-floating kites and helium balloons to carry incendiaries and gasoline bombs into Israel, continues unabated and has in fact, intensified in recent days. Today alone, Israeli firefighters had to contend with nine separate blazes including one which threatened the campus of Sapir College in the southern Israeli town of Sderot.

Since April, Palestinian kite terrorists have set more than 270 fires, destroying 6,200 acres of farming land, forests and nature reserves, and causing an estimated $1.4 million in damages. The Carmia nature reserve has been particularly hard hit, with one-third of the reserve destroyed by fire.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the National Security Council to deduct tax revenue collected by Israel on behalf of the Palestinian Authority to offset losses incurred by Gaza periphery farmers as a result of this new form of Palestinian terrorism. In addition, the Israel Defense Forces is devising technologies and strategies to deal with the problem. Some 500 incendiary-laden kites and balloons have been intercepted by specialized drones but clearly, more needs to be done to combat the menace.

The phenomenon of using arson as a form of terror is not new. In November 2016 Israel was forced to contend with a wave of arson-related fires started by PA Arabs as well as Israeli Arabs with the purpose of inflicting harm against Jews. In just over one week, Israeli and international firefighting teams brought the situation under control but not before the fires consumed nearly 600 apartments and houses and caused over $140 million in damage.

  5. Wild West London: Astonishing moment masked thieves interrupt Australian TV presenter’s Grenfell report to threaten her with a GUN and brazenly steal £15,000 camera seconds after she comes off air (dailymail, Jun 6, 2018)

“This is the shocking moment an Australian television presenter tried to stop masked thieves stealing a £15,000 television camera from her crew in a trendy London street just moments after they finished a live piece on the Royal Family.

Reporter Laurel Irving and cameraman Jimmy Cannon were in Exmouth Market, Islington, beginning a pre-recorded segment on the Grenfell fire for Channel 7’s Sunrise morning show when they were approached by a pair of men in balaclavas in the popular ‘hipster’ area.

One of the men approached Mr Cannon and threatened him with a gun in his jacket, forcing him to hand over his £15,000 camera.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/06/06/close-borders-boats-end-europe/

“There will be no more European Union” unless the continent shuts the border and makes illegal migration “impossible”, Belgium has declared, as interior ministers from the EU28 met to discuss plans for a common asylum policy.

“Reform of the Dublin Regulation is dead”, Secretary of State for Migration Theo Francken declared, pointing out that staunch opposition from Central Europe and voter swings to the right in nations like Italy and Slovenia have all-but killed the prospect of agreement over a system of sharing responsibility for third world migrants throughout the bloc.

“First we have to fix the front door, fix the back door, and then we can find a compromise on who is doing what,” he told reporters in Luxembourg, stressing that Europe must put a stop to illegal immigration before the bloc can discuss matters like “who is put in which [EU nation]”.

“I have been making a plea for us to take the Australian approach, which tells migrants, ‘You will not make Europe your home’,” the Belgian minister said, advocating that EU nations follow the antipodean government’s policy of pushing back boats carrying third world migrants…”

It appears that after about six months, the matter was settled with only a $400 fine:

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201806061065166546-qatar-nato-ambition-failed/

“The Qatari defense minister had previously revealed Doha’s long-term ambition to join the Atlantic Alliance, claiming that the country possesses some best quality armaments in the region.

NATO declined Qatar’s aim to obtain membership in the alliance, AFP reported, citing an anonymous official of the alliance. At the same time, the official noted that Qatar is nonetheless “a valuable and longstanding partner” of NATO.

“According to Article 10 of the Washington Treaty, only European countries can become members of NATO,” an official said.

Earlier, Qatar’s Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah said that Doha had as an ambition to become a full member of the Atlantic Alliance, noting that the country possess some of the best weaponry in the region and is a major “ally from outside NATO.”

The defense minister’s comment came during his speech on the anniversary of a diplomatic catastrophe, when Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with Qatar, with Riyadh expelling all Qatari citizens.”

  9. Iran: The Hollowing-Out of the Regime

    by Malcolm Lowe

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12464/iran-hollowing-out

On December 28, 2017, major protests against the Iranian regime broke out in Mashhad and quickly spread to numerous other urban centers. Mostly merely noisy at first, some turned violent and eventually the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) suppressed the phenomenon, killing some and arresting thousands of others. Protests have continued, but news about them is scanty. How are they to be evaluated?

There are interesting parallels with the twilight of the East German regime. By a coincidence, the Iranian regime is in its fortieth year and the East German regime suddenly collapsed just after its leaders had held a large-scale pompous celebration of its fortieth anniversary in the capital, East Berlin.

At its downfall, the government and security apparatus of the so-called “German Democratic Republic” appeared to be, as always, thoroughly in control, yet it took only a few chance events to start a domino effect that swept it away. There was the swell of holidaymakers who drove their polluting “Trabis” into Hungary or Czechoslovakia and thence via Austria into West Germany, because those East European countries had stopped preventing them. Beginning on September 4, 1989, there were the Monday marches that set out after the morning “Prayer for Peace” in Leipzig’s St. Nicholas Church.

By Clarion Project Tuesday, June 5, 2018

Reports over the last few days suggest a worrying trend in Iran – ballistic-missile development and the nod for increased uranium enrichment. Are we on the verge of an Iranian-American war?

But what could that lead to?

    audio at site

    • Are We on the Verge of an Iran-US War?

      This is pure fearmongering.

All America has to do is bomb Iran’s few remaining, superannuated, barely functional, gasoline refineries and (with export halts by India and other regional refiners), watch the Iranian economy swirl in the porcelain receptacle.

Iran is the size of California, with a few mountain ranges thrown in. We do not need to place boots-on-the-ground. Electronically (e.g., Stuxnet) attack their enrichment program and crush their piss-poor infrastructure. Then make some popcorn.

The city is purchasing four “highly sophisticated,” temporary structures as demand for emergency shelter and 24/7 respite sites remains high even after winter temperatures have subsided.

The four prefabricated structures, manufactured by Canadian company Sprung Instant Structures Limited, cost $2.5 million each, which does not include the cost to operate them. They are meant to serve as temporary sites where anyone in sudden need of a place to stay can rest, access food, showers and support services.

    • China is getting ready for something and it probably isn’t going head to head against the US, but China is in the process of turning Venezuela into a Chinese Colony. A Colony they are (for the moment) sharing with Hezbollah and both are reported to be behind the sending massive numbers of Venezuelan refugees into the surrounding nations to destabilize South America and get a tidal wave of refugees to swamp the US. If they can get this done before Trump can get the wall finished the US will be forced to put massive numbers of military troops on the Southern Borders and probably increase the maritime patrols in the Atlantic, the Gulf and the Pacific to stop human traffickers from smuggling “refugees” into the US. If we get the wall built before the refugees start swarming north we will still need to increase the maritime patrols to stop the traffickers. This will mean we have to 1) train new sailors and either refurbish ships from the mothball fleet or build new ships or both but until we can do this we will need to 2) pull Naval vessels from the Atlantic, the Med, the Persian Gulf, the Pacific and the South China Sea.

The brilliance of this is that China doesn’t have to commit military assets to any action until we are weak and if they don’t think we have been weakened enough they can set back and wait hoping we will suffer economic collapse before they do. I don’t know if Putin is in on this or just setting back watching and hoping there is some advantage for him.

…Iran’s foothold in Syria is the epicenter of the mullah regime’s aggressive empire – which stretches from the Gaza Strip to Lebanon and Iraq, all the way to Yemen – and its presence there must be ended.

Major players around the negotiation table have reached a consensus (not just Israel, America, and Sunni Arab states, but also Russia) that a permanent Iranian presence in Syria presents significant risks to all parties.

…The Kremlin’s interests in Syria are not synonymous with those of Iran. Russia wants access to Syria’s Mediterranean ports in Tartus and Lataki, and to remain a major arms supplier to the Assad regime.

Russia, above all else, wants Assad’s regime stabilized, and that means that every Iranian base undermines Russia’s goal, because it risks an escalation or, even worse, war with Israel.

Washington should leverage the fact that Israel, Russia, and the Sunni Arab states share the same agenda in order to pursue its own interests in reducing Iranian influence in the Middle East.…

    https://www.thelocal.no/20180606/norway-bans-burqa-and-niqab-in-schools

“Norway’s parliament on Tuesday passed a bill banning clothing that partially or fully covers the face from being worn at educational institutions.

The bill applies to students and teachers alike, as well as to staff at daycare centres, in ‘teaching situations’. It was backed by a majority in two rounds of voting separated by three days, in accordance with Norway’s parliamentary procedure, media including VG and Bergens Tidende report.

Representatives from the Socialist Left, Red and Green parties voted against the bill.

The Socialist Left voted in favour of applying the ban to teaching staff but not to students.

The anti-immigration Progress Party expressed its delight at the passing of the bill.

“This is very good news. When Progress in 2003 proposed a total ban on the niqab and burqa, we were laughed at. We see now that we have succeeded in bringing the political environment around to our viewpoint,” Åshild Bruun-Gundersen, an MP with the party, told Bergens Tidende.

“In a few years’ time, we believe that Norwegian politicians will be ready to pass a total ban on the niqab in public,” Bruun-Gundersen added.

Such a ban was passed by Scandinavian neighbour Denmark last week and was criticised by human rights groups including Amnesty International.

The niqab is a full veil with a small slit for the eyes, while the burqa is a full veil that covers the head and body with a mesh screen over the eyes.

Norway’s ban on the veil in schools met with some resistance from educational institutions during the parliamentary presentation stage.

The Norwegian School of Economics called it “strange and dramatic”, while the University of Bergen and Norwegian University of Science and Technology both said it was unnecessary. The University of Agder and Norwegian Police University College also spoke critically of it, VG reports.

The then-proposed ban was originally announced last year.

“The ban is a clear signal that in Norway we expect to see each other’s faces. We will continue to work towards a total ban, and believe several parties will be ready for that in a few years’ time,” Bruun-Gundersen told Bergens Tidende.”

It will be a while before we learn if the bureaucrats really mean what they are saying so we have to wait and discover that the new direction (if there is one) is gong to be.
