  1. Secretary of State: No Concessions Made to North Korea, No Intention of Doing So

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reaffirmed the Trump administration’s commitment to denuclearization of North Korea, citing it as the top national security priority.

Pompeo appeared before a House Foreign Affairs Committee Wednesday, where he said the White House has made “zero concessions to date” to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

He went on to say the White House has “no intention of doing so.”

Pompeo further stated Kim is aware North Korea’s economic survival is dependent upon his ability to cooperate in the upcoming negotiations.

“There’s places where we still have lots of work to do to find common ground, but he has shared candidly that he understands that economic growth for his people — the well being of his people — depends on a strategic shift and we hope he is prepared to make that,” stated Pompeo.

If this potential crisis weren’t so pivotal to the future of all Western Civilization, it would qualify for this decade’s century’s 250 Meter, “Well Duh!”, Olympic Gold Medal™.

However unsettling it might be, “intransigence” likely will become the watchword for another few hundred years. Please do not conflate intransigence with “intolerance”. An American citizen working at the U.S. Consulate in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou allegedly suffered a mild brain injury from abnormal sounds and pressure.

The U.S. Embassy issued a health alert to Americans in the Asian country on Wednesday, but said it could not link this case to a similar one suffered by American staff in Cuba dating back to late 2016.

  3. Moscow, escalating tensions with London, investigates British media

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia announced on Wednesday it had begun analyzing the output of British media working on its territory with a view to opening formal investigations into its objectivity, a response to what it called British attempts to curb Russian media.

Moscow said it was acting reluctantly after a decision by Britain’s media regulator on Monday to open a further three investigations into Russia’s RT to determine whether the Kremlin-backed TV channel had breached impartiality rules in its reporting.

That move, which stoked fears in Moscow that RT might be stripped of its broadcast license, took to 11 the number of RT programs under investigation in Britain and angered Moscow, whose relations with London are at a low after a nerve agent attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in March.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ofcom, the British media regulator, had not yet explained its latest concerns about RT’s content and accused it of unfairly harassing Russian media.

“I can confirm that there will be a tough response to this whole show and its outcome,” Zakharova told a news briefing in Moscow on Wednesday.

“The relevant structures in our country have started to study in detail the output of British media which are represented in Russia.”

  4. Exclusive – Yulia Skripal: Attempted assassination turned my world upside down

LONDON (Reuters) – Yulia Skripal survived an assassination attempt that UK authorities blame on Russia. But the daughter of one of Russia’s most famous spies says she wants to return to her country “in the longer term”, despite the poisoning.

“The fact that a nerve agent was used to do this is shocking,” Skripal told Reuters in an exclusive statement. “My life has been turned upside down.”

Yulia and her father Sergei Skripal, a former colonel in Russian military intelligence who betrayed dozens of agents to Britain’s MI6 foreign spy service, were found unconscious on a public bench in the British city of Salisbury on March 4.

Yulia Skripal, 33, was in a coma for 20 days.

“I woke to the news that we had both been poisoned,” Skripal said in her first media appearance since the poisoning. She contacted Reuters through the British police.

  5. USA and France CANNOT be allies after Iran nuclear row warns ex-PM (express, May 23, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/964183/usa-france-iran-nuclear-deal-dominique-de-villepin-latest

“FRANCE cannot be a “friend and ally” to the United States in light of Donald Trump pulling Washington from the Iran nuclear deal, a former French Prime Minister has warned.

Washington’s shock decision to withdraw from the nuclear pact drew a chorus of international condemnation amid fears the move would jeopardise Middle East peace efforts.

Former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin on Tuesday said France could not count itself among America’s closest friends and allies in light of Washington’s controversial decision to pull out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.

He said: “France cannot consider itself to be the United States’ friend and ally.”

Washington’s policies are “brutal,” he continued, before denouncing the US’ unilateral “diktat”.

He said: “We cannot let the United States flout international law, their behaviour towards Iran is unacceptable.”…”

  6. Iran steps up broadsides against U.S., Syria signals Iran won’t leave

LONDON (Reuters) – Iran on Wednesday launched a fresh barrage of criticism at U.S. demands for sweeping change in its foreign policy and nuclear programme, and Tehran’s ally Damascus flatly dismissed a U.S. call for a withdrawal of Iranian forces from Syria.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the U.S. government would be defeated like Iraq’s deposed leader Saddam Hussein if it attacked Iran, Iranian state TV reported.

France, one of several European powers dismayed by the U.S. withdrawal from a 2015 nuclear accord, said Washington’s method of adding more sanctions on Tehran would reinforce the country’s dominant hardliners.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday threatened Iran with “the strongest sanctions in history” if it did not curb its regional influence, accusing Tehran of supporting armed groups in countries such as Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.

Pompeo was speaking two weeks after President Donald Trump pulled out of an international nuclear deal with Iran that had lifted sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs to its nuclear programme. European powers see the accord as the best chance of stopping Tehran acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Pompeo had repeated old allegations against Tehran “only with a stronger and more indecent tone”.

  7. Flood is coming’: The Jan 2017 key to who was in the loop on Obama admin’s Trump-Russia campaign
    By J.E. Dyer May 23, 2018

At NRO on Tuesday, Andrew McCarthy came to an important conclusion about the Trump-Russia investigation. It has been increasingly clear that the investigation – to the extent we may call it that – started quite a while before 31 July 2016, the date long given for its formal launch. McCarthy suggests it started in the early spring, probably around the end of March.

Dating the focused tracking of Trump personnel to that early period forces the key conclusion McCarthy ends with:

The Trump-Russia investigation did not originate with Page or Papadopoulos. It originated with the Obama administration.

The investigation, in the form we now know it took, could not have started with Page or Papadopoulos, because at that point, they hadn’t done the things that supposedly cued the investigation.

Page hadn’t gone to Russia to give a speech (July 2016), and Papadopoulos hadn’t been told yet about the supposed Russian hacking of Hillary’s emails (April 2016), much less passed that tidbit on to Australian Alexander Downer (May 2016).

    • When you read this take the time to set down and think about the implications of what is said, Obama and company started the surveillance on Trump months before the meetings that are their stated excuses for the surveillance! This means that the entire purpose of the “surveillance” was to ensure that Hillary was elected, the fact that the voters didn’t believe them and elected Trump is what has been driving their fear and anger. The left is scared that they will be forced out of power and that their Billionaire backers will end up losing most of their money because of their actions backing the attempted coup. The anger is towards the unwashed masses who had the gall to vote against the self anointed elites chosen savior. How dare the little people think that the Constitution still means anything, don’t the little people know only the elite are smart enough to decide who should lead the nations and decide what path the nations take.

Here is a good example of how the left and their Billionaire backers think:

      • “Bloomberg’s message to Rice graduates: ‘Honesty matters’”

“The greatest threat to American democracy isn’t communism, jihadism or any other external force or foreign power. “It’s our own willingness to tolerate dishonesty in service of party, and in pursuit of power.”

              THEY are washed-up.

Unwashed? Well, shuckey darn! I didn’t think that anywhom gave a hot damn rip anymore.

Twice-blest must be the goodly, steadfast women who’ve honorably whelped generations of near-idiotic, almost insanely resolute, Infidel Freemen and recent spawnings of excellent new maidens and strapping young studs that give eternal hope to the occasionally flagging spirits of us wearied (and, mayhaps, worthy) Cold Warriors.

“The Arab League says it will no longer cooperate on any level with Guatemala because of the country’s decision to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The Cairo-based organization says Wednesday it has abandoned a memorandum of understanding signed in 2013 and has severed relations with the South American country.

Guatemala moved its embassy to Jerusalem earlier this month, following the inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in disputed Jerusalem.

Guatemala was the first country to put its embassy in Jerusalem, in 1956. It moved the facility 24 years later to Tel Aviv, after the Israeli parliament declared Jerusalem its eternal and indivisible capital in contravention of a United Nations resolution.

  9. Progress: Black students at Harvard to hold their own graduation ceremony
By Ben Bowles May 23, 2018

This must be what progressives mean by progress. In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously held in Brown v. Board of Education that separate schools are “inherently unequal.” Fast-forward 64 years later, and graduate students at Harvard University are back to segregating themselves from their white fellow grads.

The phony “fact-checking” site Snopes bends over backward to paint lipstick on this pig, arguing that this is not self-segregation, a claim also made in an interview with The Root by Michael Huggins, a soon-to-become “masters” graduate. (Oh, that word!)

But what is it then? According to Huggins:

  11. Is Iran Considering Reactivating Uranium Enrichment at Fordow?

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 843, May 23, 2018

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: On April 29, satellite imagery showed irregular activity at Iran’s Fordow uranium enrichment facility, arousing suspicion that Iran is preparing to resume its activities. The Iranians had indeed threatened to do this if President Trump followed through on his plan to quit the 2015 nuclear agreement (the JCPOA). However, the unusual activity might simply be steps towards converting the facility to a civil research center for nuclear energy and physics, which would comply with the JCPOA.

The Fordow uranium enrichment nuclear facility was one of the Iranian clandestine nuclear projects displayed in Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s “nuclear speech” on April 30. The day before the speech, irregular activity at Fordow was detected in a satellite image taken by the EROS-B (Earth Remote Observation) satellite. (EROS-B was manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries and is operated by Israel’s ImageSat International [ISI]).

The photos showed that the entrance gate to the tunnels leading to the plant had been opened, and about thirty private cars and four buses were in the parking lot close to the entrance. This differs from recent months, when ISI photos showed the plant gate closed and no vehicles in the lot. The new photos also showed that two buildings that had been under construction in July 2016 are now completed and ready for use. The buildings are believed to be workshops for R&D and assembly.

  12. Liberals Put the Final Nail in California’s Coffin

California is weighing a plan to become the first state in the country to offer free healthcare coverage to illegal immigrants.

Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel, who represents the traditionally Republican coastal country in Southern California, slammed the plan.

“It’s going to be a utopia for illegal immigrants,” warned Steel during an interview on Fox Business, claiming that such a giveaway would result in a wave of illegal immigrants from both other states and other countries.

“You’re getting welfare benefits, you have free healthcare coverage, and then you can hide because government itself is protecting these people even [if] they commit crimes,” she added.

Steel also attacked the cost of the plan — which is predicted to be more than $3 billion in the 2018-2019 budget year alone, according to the state’s Legislative Analyst’s Office. Steel claimed that the actual total could be a lot more.

Richard: This stands a good chance of collapsing not only California but the entire US, and if we crash the rest of the world will follow. The problem is while the thinking people who know the facts will blame the left but the Propaganda Media will spread the lie it is Trumps fault.

This isn’t good, while I know what they are doing and what their goals are I don’t know what they are thinking? Despite what most of the experts are saying the Chinese economy is in much worse shape then the US, and they know that even if they manage to hold on until the US economy collapses theirs will go down also thanks to the global economy. What the Chinese want is total control of the South China Sea and eventually total control of the seas surrounding the Japanese Islands. A very large portion of the worlds goods sail across the South China Sea and the Red Chinese want to have complete control over what sails where and when. The fact that they are starting to arm their artifical Islands to enforce the 9 dash line means that they think they have completed enough of the string of pearls to choke India off from getting raw materials to keep building weapons and munitions for those weapons. They also want to choke off the supply of raw material to Taiwan and force them to join Red China.

China has been semi quiet in their efforts to Intimidate India and the smaller nations in the areas they control, I need to start watching that region again.

There were reports that China was building a rail line from the new Silk Road project into Iran so they could ship material to Iran without risking it on the seas.

      • Watch the vidoe lower down about the Venezuela refugee crisis, combine this move starting right now with the Chinese move to arm the 9 dash line. As you are doing that remember the reports that there are more Hezbollah people in South America then there are in Lebanon. Don’t think they aren’t tied together, China may have a massive problem with its Islamic population but they will work with Iran and Pakistan to weaken and possibly destroy their enemies.

      • They have completed that railway.
They can go straight to Turkey, too.
The can also go straight to hell.

      • The fact that they are starting to arm their artifical Islands to enforce the 9 dash line means that they think they have completed enough of the string of pearls to choke India off from getting raw materials to keep building weapons and munitions for those weapons. They also want to choke off the supply of raw material to Taiwan and force them to join Red China.

This has unhappy ending FUGLY written all over it.

What’s especially cheesing is being ridiculed for insisting upon the use of reason. An example (drum-roll, if you will, please):

Hitchhiking back home from a sinfully beautiful day at the beach, me, the teenage idiot, told our inebriated group that they must not try to thumb a ride right at the freeway’s on-ramp (with “Penalty for Stopping Here”* signs plainly posted).

          * No “Fine for Stopping Here” jokes, thankyouverymuch.

As they marched up the on-ramp, I shouted at them to, “Make sense!” (and come away from the freeway entrance). They laughed at me and ridiculed my insistence that they, “Make sense!”.

I walked away from the on-ramp and placed myself at a location where drivers could safely provide a lift. All the while being taunted with mocking jeers of, “Make sense!”, “Make sense!” .

Some, kind-hearted, foolish sod stopped to give a ride to this laughing gaggle of haranguing idiots and, within seconds was—complete with flashing lights and the entire meghilla—pounced upon and ticketed for obstructing the roadway (on a weekend evening with little-to-no-traffic).

A few minutes later, I managed to safely flag down a trans-bay ride but was, nonetheless, subjected to taunts of “make sense” for years thereafter. Fortunately, I’ve rarely had to endure anyone asking me why it’s unnecessary to be in touch with those same people for decades (including my own blood brother).

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180524-785000-foreigners-lost-their-jobs-in-saudi-arabia-since-2017/

“According to official Saudi data, 785,000 foreign employees in the private sector have left their jobs in the 15 months since the beginning of 2017.

According to data from the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) , the number of foreign employees fell to 7.71 million at the end of the first quarter of this year, compared to 8.495 million at the end of 2016. In contrast, the number of Saudi employees rose to 1.76 million by the end of the first quarter of this year, compared to 1.68 million in 2016, according to an Anadolu survey.

The foreign employees’ loss of their jobs in Saudi Arabia is linked to the government’s efforts to strengthen the settlement of local labour in a number of economic sectors over the past two years.

The Saudi government stipulated local labour only in various sectors, such as insurance, communications and transportation, with an unemployment rate of citizens in the Kingdom reaching 12.8 per cent. The Saudi government will limit work in outlets to 12 activities and professions, mostly in the retail sector, to Saudis only, starting on 11 September.”

The crimes were perpetrated for years and have continued despite a presidential inquiry established last August whose findings have not been made public, said the watchdog.

In a statement, the Nigerian military described Amnesty’s findings as “a false report on fictitious rape incidents in IDP (internally displaced person) camps in the North East region of Nigeria.”

A presidency statement said Amnesty’s report lacks credibility…”

  20. Support for anti-immigration Sweden Democrats grows ahead of Swedish election (thelocal, May 23, 2018)

“The Sweden Democrats, a far-right and anti-immigration party, have gained momentum and are close behind the nation’s two other largest parties ahead of the September 9th general election, according to a survey on Wednesday.

Published by the daily Dagens Nyheter (DN), the Ipsos poll confirmed the Sweden Democrats’ soaring popularity in recent months and the decline in support for the leading Social Democrats, which has lost one-fourth of its voters since the 2014 election.

With 20 percent in support, according to Ipsos, the far-right group is gaining on the conservative Moderates (22 percent) and is now only four points behind Prime Minister Stefan Löfven’s Social Democrats (24 percent).

The poll suggests the Sweden Democrats are most popular among men (26 percent). Some are former Social Democrats voters attracted to the group’s anti-immigration rhetoric.

The Nordic nation has registered some 400,000 asylum applications since 2012, one for every 25 inhabitants.

To contain the refugee influx, the minority centre-left government has reestablished border controls and toughened conditions for granting asylum, residence permits and family reunification.

But some analysts warn the measures might not be enough for the government to win over voters.

“The Social Democrats have voters who are drawn to opposite sides. There are the traditional workers in smaller areas and the urban voters who appreciate cultural diversity,” David Ahlin, who is responsible for the Ipsos poll, told Dagens Nyheter.

However, Ahlin said the Social Democrats’ “success in keeping a wide coalition of voters together doesn’t seem to be working any longer”.

Altogether, Sweden’s leftist parties have 37 percent in support, behind a centre-right alliance on 39 percent, according to the survey which interviewed 1,818 people through telephone and online.”
