IDF: Iranian forces fire 20 rockets at Israel; Iron Dome intercepts some

No Israeli injuries reported in attack; sirens blare in Golan Heights; Syrian army post comes under fire in Quneitra as tensions skyrocket on Israel-Syria border

Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces in southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, with some of the incoming missiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the army said, amid sky high tensions on the northern border.

“Around 12.10 in the morning there were some 20 projectiles fired towards communities in the Golan Heights fired by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp’s elite Quds Force,” the IDF stated

[…] The army would not comment on what exactly was fired from Syria towards Israel.

Updates as they come in.

  1. Kinetic warfare may have begun in and near Israel

Yeah, I’d call 20 rockets, “Kinetic warfare”. It’s especially gratifying to this article directly attribute the attack to, “Iranian forces”. This is a powerful message to Tehran that a tally is being kept and an accounting will be made.

    • As a sidebar: I’d day it was some pretty fine intelligence by Mossad and the IDF that got those bomb shelters on the Golan opened 24 hours before this attack.

It’s like how there’s 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day. Coincidence? I don’t think so!

    • It does sound like this is the start of something bigger, we will have to wait and see.

  2. CBC in rebel-held Syrian neighbourhood

A CBC News crew is in a war-torn Syrian neighbourhood, where fighting and shelling are the backdrop. Margaret Evans, accompanied by Syrian government representatives, is in Yarmouk, Damascus, one of the last rebel-held areas.
