“A BBC reporter was shot dead by unknown in southeastern Khost province of Afghanistan, hours after a deadly suicide attack in Kabul left at least nine reporters dead.

The local government officials confirmed that the BBC reporter Ahmad Shah was shot dead in the outskirts of Khost city at around 4 pm local time.

The officials further added that the reporter was travelling to a village when he was attacked by gunmen riding motorcycles.

In the meantime, a security official said the reporter had sustained injuries in the attack and succumbed to his injuries after he was admitted to the hospital.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.

The Taliban group spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid in a statement said the group has no links with the attack on BBC reporter in Khost.

This comes as the coordinated suicide attacks in Kabul city left at least 25 people dead, including 9 reporters.

The incident took place at around 8 am local time after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives among the reports, following the first suicide attack near the intelligence compound.”

  3. ?Y? Party vows to reopen access to Wikipedia if elected (hurriyetdailynews, Apr 30, 2018)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/iyi-party-vows-to-reopen-access-to-wikipedia-if-elected-131103

“The opposition ?Y? (Good) Party on April 30 vowed to host the “reopening of Wikipedia,” which has been banned in Turkey for over a year, a day after snap elections on June 24.

“All of Turkey’s citizens are invited to Wikipedia’s [re]opening on June 25,” the party’s official Twitter post read.

The party also used the hashtags #Wikipedia?Y?Olacak and #Türkiye?Y?Olacak, which mean “Wikipedia will be good” and “Turkey will be good” in Turkish.

Wikipedia has been banned for a year in Turkey. The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) said on April 29, 2017 that it had blocked access to the site in Turkey, citing a law allowing it to ban access to websites deemed obscene or a threat to national security.

However, Wikipedia is “still not sure” why it remains blocked in Turkey, Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Katherine Maher told daily Habertürk in January.

“We are not sure why there is still a ban on Wikipedia. The Turkish authorities may not have examined the latest versions of these content,” Maher said on Jan. 17.

“The statement requested that we remove two articles but no reason was shown as to why we should do that. We do not remove an article just because it bothers some parties. We are against censorship,” she added.

On the same day as Habertürk’s interview with Maher, the BTK issued a statement saying Wikipedia was “continuing to publish illegal content.”

“Having examined the content [on Wikipedia], we see that it insists on publishing illegal content,” the BTK said in a statement posted on its website on Jan. 17.

“Upon the removal of content that has insulting qualities targeting Turkey, the authorities could take the necessary steps,” it added.

Wikipedia is just one of the scores of websites banned in Turkey, while monitoring groups have accused the country’s authorities of blocking or slowing access to social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook on numerous occasions in the past.

Following the ban, Wikipedia applied to Turkey’s Constitutional Court on May 9 after its appeal against the ruling that blocked access to it was rejected by a local court.

Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan had in December 2017 defended the ongoing ban on Wikipedia, saying the site should “blame itself for the ban.”

“As we are trying to deal with all this terrorism, [Wikipedia] makes us look like we work with terror groups,” Arslan said.

Five months after Wikipedia was banned in Turkey, a “pirate” website of it was launched in the country. A “mirrored” version of the site is also available, with users simply typing a “0” before “wikipedia” in the URL to access all Wikipedia content.”

  5. Tucker: Caravan’s plight is not immigration, but an invasion

Tucker: When you arrive in a country, you don’t wave the flag of a foreign nation. That’s what you do when you invade. Immigration happens with the consent of the host country. What we’re seeing is happening by force.

    • the daily caller – Sessions’ DOJ Drops The Hammer On Caravan — 11 Members Charged For Illegal Entry

The Department of Justice has charged 11 members of the Central American caravan coming the United States, according to a new report.

CNN reported Monday, “The Department of Justice has filed complaints against 11 individuals believed to be members of the Central American migrant caravan, accusing them of illegally entering the United States.”

The report indicates that 10 members face misdemeanor charges for entering the country illegal, while one other faces a possible felony charge for re-entering the country after already being deported.

This move by the DOJ marks a significant escalation on the government’s side in how to deal with the migrants. Many were hoping for asylum in the United States.

The caravan comes from different Central American countries and traveled through Mexico to get to the United States. A previously reported crackdown on the caravan from Mexican authorities is believed to have made it much smaller, but the caravan still continued, arriving at the United States-Mexico border Sunday.

The caravan’s arrival coincided with Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to the border to check out the construction of the border fence.

    ASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) –

Jiyayi Suleyman became Nashville’s first Kurdish police officer in 2012.

It was a source of pride for both the community and the department.

“He was the first Kurdish cop, so he made all of us proud,” said Hamid Hasan, the owner of House of Kabab in Nashville.

Now Suleyman is out of a job and in trouble. He’s the subject of a criminal investigation.

According to an investigative file obtained by News4, Suleyman was a member of the Kurdish Pride Gang, a group known for selling illegal guns and drugs.

Police said he lied on his application about who he was and who he hung out with.

Once on the inside, he used the TBI’s computer program to look up fellow gang members which is against the rules.
