  1. For the life of me, I can’t understand why the American Government is so hell-bent on destroying Syria without justification. They have to know that some of us see what’s going on but they have us so marginalized that they aren’t worried. We can say whatever we like on our extreme fascist ultra-alt-right hate-speech sites but nobody’s listening because they’ve demonized people like us to the point that we are all Ku Klux Klan members who dropped out in grade 7 – people that no decent person would as much as deign to listen to.

And you know what? I haven’t even got a guess about why they’re doing it. I don’t know why they felt the need to destroy Libya either, or Egypt or Iraq, for that matter.

There is no way that Trump’s attack on Syria could be justified. Even if Assad did use chemical weapons there is enough evidence to the contrary to at least warrant an investigation before declaring war. And anybody who would trust the “White Helmets” is an idiot, plain and simple. I can just see the determination and strength in Ambassador Nikke Hale’s strong American-eagle face as she lies so sincerely straight into the camera, just like Susan Rice, Loretta Lynch, and Hillary Clinton. You can feel her fake integrity right through the screen…

PS. I have a real problem with politicians who think it’s OK to lie to the public as long as they don’t get too caught. It makes me hate them with a passion. It’s Hillary blaming the Islam movie that makes me truly despise her. I feel as if she stared straight into my eyes and lied to me personally.

I hate to say this, but the real “rogue state” is not North Korea or Iran or Cuba, it is the United States of America. Nobody else destroys entire countries just to firm up the women-under-fifty demographics in time for the primaries, or to dispell a “wimp” impression in the Midwest. It’s fucking evil. For instance, why hasn’t anybody even suggested that Hillary Clinton be blamed and tried for the premeditated murder of Moammar Gadaffi? Why does she always get off the hook? Is Trump attacking Syria just to prove he’s not “colluding” with the Russians?

  2. And you know what? I haven’t even got a guess about why they’re doing it. I don’t know why they felt the need to destroy Libya either, or Egypt or Iraq, for that matter.

This was done because Obama and the left don’t want a stable secular Islamic world, Obama wants a world wide Caliphate and the left wants to destroy Western Civilization (using Islam as the weapon) so they can impose their one world government.

Even if Assad did use chemical weapons there is enough evidence to the contrary to at least warrant an investigation before declaring war.

The Trump collusion narrative has him backed into a corner on anything remotely involving Russia. If he had waited for a full investigation (which would probably take a year or more) he would have been accused of being Putin’s puppet and letting him off the hook by insisting on a long investigation. This was done to buy time to get more swamp critters out of power and to let him rebuild the military so (with luck) we can denuclearize North Korea without a war. Personally I doubt this will happen but we can always hope.

Diplomats are supposedly honorable who are sent out to lie for their country, that is part of their job description and always has been. I don’t have a problem with politicians who lie to further national security, I do dislike the politicians who lie to gain power. Right now the lies by the Trump team are in furthering national security so they are acceptable (for the moment).

I am not sure what of Nikke Hale statements you are objecting to but I think she said that Britian and France had stated they have proof that Assad’s people carried out the attack, not that the US had proven this. I know I am splitting hairs here but there are times when you have to split hairs.

    • And Russia said that China said that…
Then we translated it to English and had Facebook fact-check…

That’s what diplomats do, alright. She was very careful, like a lawyer. “Depends on what the meaning of is is.”

      • A diplomat is an Honorable person (or suppose to be) who is sent out to lie for their country.

    • Whether this was a false flag or not I don’t know. What I think I know was that this was an extremely surgical attack that took out chemical and biological facilities. In addition, I also think I know that no one was killed, let alone women and children.
Keep in mind that Russia claimed they removed all chemical weapons from Syria.
Well lookie here! We found some!
I read just one report, so take it for what it’s worth, that just hours after the attack Israel bombed and Iranian base by Allepo and there were casualties.
Does anyone know anything about that?

  3. We are fighting a war of survival that to a large extent is a war of shadows, there will be times (like this one) when we will attack and punish some nation/leader for the actions of their enemies (at least that will be the stated reason) when we are really moving against them for another reason we (at the moment) can’t make public. We are doing this at a time of great internal division, division driven by the lefts attempts to remove the rule of law from the US and impose a Marxist social justice government that will punish all who disagree with them.

We are seeing examples of this division and attempt to punish/destroy the enemies of the left in the reaction to the attack on Assad’s assets. The left screamed for the attack but now that their desires were fulfilled they are screaming about why we shouldn’t have made the attack. We will see many more times like this before this war is over, but one thing will remain constant, we can’t fight a war of shadows in the open, a lot of the time we will have to keep our true motives secret to prevent the enemy from countering our efforts to remain free.

    • Generals and chiefs-of-state used to wage wars. Civilians might read some version of why and what happened in newspapers. _After_ the fact.

Or listen to vetted versions on radio of friend +/- foe. Maybe see a newsreel of handsome, intrepid lads dashing up a hill. Then a made-for-TV, you-are-there, Vietnam. Body-bags, what could be more convincing, right?

      No.
Most of the information we got was BOGUS. From reasons for war, to tactics, to body-counts. Politically-generated disinfo and flat-out LIES.

Then it was revised. Over and over. There’s never a really, really definitive version, just perspectives. Not even certain who won and who lost.

      It’s a postmodern kinda thing.

Now we’re the armchair rulers and generals. Blasted with detritus, we try to understand. In vain.

      ……..Those who know, don’t talk……..

Those claiming anything with absolute certainty are peddling FANTASIES.
Yes, that includes your favorite tweet-meisters. The omniscient ones.

It’s put out by everybody and anybody (plus their bots!), in order to:

      • reassure us, or
      • confuse us, or
      • make us angry, or
      • entertain us, or
      • simply entice eyeballs, clicks, and virtual “followers”.

None of us here has skin in this game. So let’s relax and keep our emotional distance. While we still can.

Pay attention to the noise, _as noise_. Eventually patterns may emerge.

      Or not.

      • The patterns will emerge, they may not be understandable for years but they will emerge.

Take WWII after the Battle of Midway the Japanese never went on the offensive in the Pacific but that wasn’t apparent until about 1944. Eventually the facts will out but that may take decades and then a lot of people won’t believe them.

        My opinion on Syria:

Were chemical weapons used? I don’t know.

Should we have bombed? Given the internal politics of the US and what is happening in Iran, Pakistan/Afghanistan/India/China, North Korea yes we had to bomb.

Am I basing my opinions on inadequate data? Yes but so are everyone else.

Are the true facts out but being hidden by propaganda, disinformation and people playing games? Probably.

        • I’ll sign what you’ve just written.
I’m sorry we have to play these games.

We’re the US of A: George Washington and the cherry-tree, Honest Abe.

          hahahaha
Potus-2 is laughing himself silly. Remembering the double-triple flips they all did back in Paris. Then during John Jr.'s service as ambassador to the Tsar.

  4. Ha, so much fake videos produced. Who says this fake rescue video couldn’t have been pulled out of anywhere/anytime? Are you being led down a conspiracy path possibly by believing in a fake used video of a fake video? I suspect the targeted sites by US/Britain/France ultimately is better to be rid of.. if they were chemical sites it’s good they are destroyed — if not, then well, some buildings are no longer existing.

    • I am not posting this because I think its accurate. Im posting it because it seems not entirely unbelievable and I have seen, and posted, a TON of material over the past few years suggesting that the White Helmets are a propaganda organ for jihadis. This is not the first data point I have seen on it. I have reserved my own judgement on what I think is going on because I don’t really know. But I am confident that much we are told is not the case.

I think probably whats happening in reality, is a good thing but not what it looks like. A couple of days ago I had no data for this hypothesis, the one I am not saying, and now I have some, minimal data which may earn my hypothesis, theory status. Nothing we can do though but wait and see.

Certainly loyalists of President Trump at this time are very disappointed. I suspect they don’t need to be, but understand why they are based on what it looks like on the surface.

Posting something doesn’t mean I agree with it, only that I think its a valuable data point for readers of this site, who I have a great deal of respect for. Many of them have analytical skills that are astonishing and the experience to make those skills applicable.

      • Thank you Eeyore. That is what I like about you and those who write on the websites. Read, reasearch, think.

Ask yourself why if you watch TV you are not only uninformed but misinformed .

      • My mistake on saying “you”.. I’m all for posting whatever as well. The comments were meant as a general post for those commenting on agreeing or not understanding why the attack was made. I should have been more clear. Great site.. keep up the great posts!

        • Thank-you for your kind words and your observations.
That’s a problem with English – you vs you-all, collective.
But we don’t have to decide whether to go formal usted vs. tu casual. That’s something.

      • Maybe Eva Bartlett knows because she was actually there. Start @5mins. Eva Barlett says, “They (the media) have manufactured stories”. @14 mins. the journalist from Sweden gets his ass handed to him when asking why she thinks the western media lie:

  5. As , most decent citizens of USA, we have been fooled for many years. Questioning your GOV, it is not aloud. CIA, FBI, Rino, Democrats , Média propaganda, operation mockingbird .
I am just catching up on my reading, searching the truth .

Robert Mueller helped cover up Florida 9/11 probe while serving as FBI director. Secret investigation kept from Congress and us taxes payers. 2 weeks before the attack on 9/11 : abrupt departure of Saudi family Abdulaziz and Anoud al-Hijjifrom their Sarasota home leaving theirs cars, clothes, furniture, jewelry, ect…..
So this dirty Muller , like politicians have been rewarded for lying, hiding information so 3000 peoples died in NY, Pennsylvania , Virginia, and subsequently our sons, daughters from USA, Canada, Europe, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybbia, Syria.
Why investigating illegal wars, killing, subverting, Boston bombing, Orlando, Las Vegas, Nice France. Investigating the Russian connection for months…now attack in Syria because of WMD,
Same story than Irak WMD but this time no investigation is necessary. The dumbing down of America by the msm (mockingbird ) that covered up assasination of President Kennedy , 1963. Is still doing well.

Yes , most decent Americans got it after 2001. I am praying hoping for Nuremberg trials .

United States Assessment of the Assad Regime’s Chemical Weapons Use

    […]
Chemical Weapons Use on April 7, 2018

A large body of information indicates that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons in the Duma area of East Ghutah, near Damascus, on April 7, 2018. Our information is consistent and corroborated by multiple sources. These chemical weapons were used as part of a weeks-long offensive against this densely populated opposition-held enclave. This assault has killed and wounded thousands of innocent civilians.

On April 7, social media users, non-governmental organizations, and other open-source outlets reported a chemical weapons bombardment in Duma. Videos and images show the remnants of at least two chlorine barrel bombs from the attacks with features consistent with chlorine barrel bombs from past attacks. In addition, a large volume of high-resolution, reliable photos and video from Duma clearly documents victims suffering from asphyxiation and foaming at the mouth, with no visible signs of external wounds. The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement about its concern over suspected chemical attacks in Syria, noting that victims showed symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals.

Multiple government helicopters were observed over Duma on April 7, with witnesses specifically reporting a Mi-8 helicopter, known to have taken off from the Syrian regime’s nearby Dumayr airfield, circling over Duma during the attack. Numerous eyewitnesses corroborate that barrel bombs were dropped from these helicopters, a tactic used to target civilians indiscriminately throughout the war. Photos of barrel bombs dropped in Duma closely match those used previously by the regime. These barrel bombs were likely used in the chemical attack. Reliable intelligence also indicates that Syrian military officials coordinated what appears to be the use of chlorine in Duma on April 7. Following these barrel bomb attacks, doctors and aid organizations on the ground in Duma reported the strong smell of chlorine and described symptoms consistent with exposure to sarin.

The symptoms described in reporting from media, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other open sources—such as the WHO—include miosis (constricted pupils), convulsions, and disruption to central nervous systems. These symptoms, in addition to the dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries reported, suggest that the regime also used sarin in its attacks on April 7.

The Assad regime chooses to deploy chemical weapons to terrorize and subdue both opposition fighters and the civilian population. It seeks to minimize regime casualties, in part because its military lacks the strength needed to otherwise prevail. Because the regime’s intent is to terrorize, it makes no effort to discriminate between military and civilian targets. By using these banned weapons and wantonly bombarding civilian neighborhoods with conventional munitions and crude barrel bombs, Assad is collectively punishing his own people as a warning against further rebellion. Further, Assad uses chemical weapons in a manner to maximize suffering, such as against families huddled in underground shelters, as was seen in Duma—a population that was already negotiating for surrender and evacuation. The regime’s continued use of chemical weapons threatens to desensitize the world to their use and proliferation, weaken prohibitions against their use, and increase the likelihood that additional states will acquire and use these weapons. To underscore this point, not only has Russia shielded the Assad regime from accountability for its chemical weapons use, but on March 4, 2018, Russia used a nerve agent in an attempted assassination in the United Kingdom, showing an uncommonly brazen disregard for the taboo against chemical weapons.

In this case—as with previous instances of regime chemical weapons use—United States experts considered alternative explanations beyond the Syrian regime’s culpability for chemical weapons use.

Within hours of the first allegation of chemical use on April 7, Syria’s state-run news agency painted the reports as a smear campaign by the last remaining opposition group in East Ghouta, Jaysh al-Islam. We have no information to suggest that this group has ever used chemical weapons.

Further, it is unlikely that the opposition could fabricate this volume of media reports on regime chemical weapons use. Such a widespread fabrication would require a highly organized and compartmented campaign to deceive multiple media outlets while evading our detection. The Syrian regime and Russia have also claimed that a terrorist group conducted the attacks or that the attacks were staged are not consistent with the existing body of credible information. The Syrian regime, conversely, has already been condemned by United Nations (UN) investigators for past and continued chemical weapons attacks. It is the only actor in Syria with both the motive and the means to deploy nerve agents. The use of helicopters further implicates the regime; no non-state group has conducted air operations in the conflict.

    • Yes, Martin. I love the parts you put in bold.

=> “Hey, looked ok. No CW? Gee, honest mistake.
Anyway, those were really bad guys. We just had to make a statement. That’s who we are.”

They took out the part about hair, urine, and blood samples of the victims. _After_ somebody told them that chlorine wouldn’t manifest that way. I nearly died laughing when I read that early report.

The Syrian raid was so perfectly carried out, with such precision, that the only way the Fake News Media could demean was by my use of the term “Mission Accomplished.” I knew they would seize on this but felt it is such a great Military term, it should be brought back. Use often!

  8. Thanks Martin,
“Condemnation without investigation is the highest level of ignorance” Einstein

Why are we in Syria? Why are we involved in foreign wars.

Why are we sending our military overseas to protect other countries borders instead of protecting our borders.

    • It is not you. It is USA. And this is because those controlling USA need more money and power, access to resources, generating the hate sentiments in the target population and so in the future all these can be reused.
Normal state of human kind is war, not peace. War is the engine that generate cheapest resources. Not for you…you are there to die for resources.

      • First: USA already has power. It just wasn’t using it for peaceful purposes. It is now doing so.

Second: Please explain what do you mean by ”resources”. What resources are you referring to?

P.S.: If you want peace, be ready for war. Even prehistoric man understood that one. All civilizations that fell weren’t fully ready for war, some were even deceived (see the Trojan Horse).

        • Yeah when we change from Dem to Republican and Republican to Dem our goals change. It didn’t use to be this way but then the far far left got control of the Dems.

      • If you mean oil we aren’t importing any oil except from Canada, we are using US and Canadian oil.

        • The word ”resources” can be many things, including important geological mining.

China is a master at winning Call for Tenders in this field because they can afford to bid the lowest price since their workforce is very low monthly salary. They extract the raw resources, transfer them on their trucks to be offloaded on their ships back to China to be processed only to be resold to us at a much higher price.

Those raw resources are just as important as oil.

  9. Why is the director of the White Helmets propaganda film English? He even speaks in English. There seems credibility to the Russian claim that MI6 run this bunch of murderers.

strong>Skripal affair: Real reason is capture of 200 SAS soldiers in Ghouta

According to Chinese information, British and American forces have been destroyed on a large scale in the Ghouta region, with the 22nd regiment of the British special forces, the SAS, in tatters.

Those SAS soldiers who had survived the pinpoint Russian bombing, have had to flee on buses in disguise. This is actually the real reason for the Skripal affair and the chemical weapons false flag, a Russian analyst believes.

European officials have at least partly confirmed the presence of British citizens among those in East Ghouta.

An assessment of the situation in East Ghouta, Syria, was made by a leading Russian analyst in Middle Eastern affairs. In particular, a Chinese military specialists’ report was examined by the expert.

China is very closely following everything that is happening in Syria. There are regular reports and expert assessments by Chinese specialists closely following the course of the anti-terrorist operation.

The Chinese have been examining the actions of, in particular, the Russian military and the US-led coalition, noting the shortcomings and successes of the parties involved.

Evgeniy Yanovich Satanovskiy, a Russian orientalist and economist, is one of the leading experts in the field of politics and economics, analysing countries of the Near and Middle East, including Israel.

One of the most famous and popular Russian specialists, Satanovskiy is a regular participant on Russian radio and TV programmes, often with an accurate and in-depth assessment of the situation in the Middle East, in particular, in Syria.

Satanovskiy has studied the situation in East Ghouta, Syria, based on recent material gathered by Chinese analysts and translated into Russian by the Russian Sinologist Maksim Kazanin.

Kazanin himself is a famous Russian Sinologist, and author of studies on China for Russian mass media.

According to the analyst, the UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) used in the area to attack Russian bases had Chinese processors and the Chinese could get hold of all the navigational data.

The Americans were eager to get rid of the Russian presence since the Russians were threatening to stop the advances and attacks of “moderate rebels”. The rebels were surrounded by highly-trained US and British military “advisors”, says Satanovskiy and protected by at least 200 Tomahawks aimed at Russian installations.

When Valeriy Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, warned the US that if there were a threat to the lives of Russian servicemen in Syria, then Russia would shoot down both American missiles and carriers, he was responding to this particular state of affairs.

Americans did not expect the pilots of the Russian SU-34 or SU-27SMZ to execute 30 sorties per day and meticulously wipe out all British and US military instructors. This convinced tens of thousands of rebels to end their struggle.

On March 17, 2018, some 200 US special-forces operators were killed, according to Chinese intelligence. The situation in East Ghouta was different from Aleppo in that Aleppo “was like a pudding stuffed with raisins” while in Ghouta a large group of British instructors were also caught trying to escape the Russian encirclement “dressed as women”.

Satanovskiy noted that the British SAS soldiers often disguised themselves as women in Afghanistan too. Some 200 were caught by Russian military police trying to flee Ghouta. The British government opened diplomatic channels to Moscow right away in order to reach an agreement and at the same time launched the Skripal affair when the US effort to save them failed.

    • This is Uncle Vlad, messing around.
      We’re supposed to laugh. Inversion of recent U.S. wipe-out of 500 Russians {200 dead, 300 injured}.

      The clues are upfront:
According to CHINESE information, translated to Russian – always keep a little distance from a whopper – maybe something was “lost in translation”?
      Then,
Those SAS soldiers who had survived the PINPOINT Russian bombing, have had to flee on buses in disguise.
___Uncle Vlad is soooo fastidious in his humanitarian bombing!

I have no doubt there are/were plenty of UK/EU citizens amongst the jihadis everywhere. The Kurds in Iraq are holding hundreds of them prisoners. They’re trying to get them off their hands, but Euros don’t want them back.

      • We’re on the same page.
That bombing weapon was spectacular. No harm anywhere except the target itself.
Most of us know it wasn’t 500 ”Russians”.

        • Russian TV [for Russians] throws out dozens of these stories all the time. Versions that contradict each other, from the plausible to the absurd. Upside-down ten minutes later, or on a different channel – all owned by the govt, directly or indirectly.

          Up the down staircase.

          • We in the west are starting to get this type of info and are going to have to learn to separate the Propaganda from the real news. Assuming any real news gets out.

            • Pretty much believe nothing.
Blatant falsehood, distortion, to serve someone’s agenda.
Always been that way, we’re just getting MORE of it.

We listen to some random jerk who’s peddling info-tainment, then we’re all hot and bothered.

Moslems don’t even have to be sociopaths to lie smooth as goose-shiite:

              Takiyya dissimulation about Muslim identity.

              Tawriya concealing, creative lying.

Kitman telling only part of the truth.

Muruna flexibility blend in w the enemy.

            • Yeah, and this one is just too much, sorry. If one is following this conflict from just two or three sources you know this is bollocks for the Russian domestic audience.

Syrian Army Allegedly Captures British Special Forces in Eastern Ghouta

A number of British forces beget been captured by the Syrian army during military operations in Eastern Ghouta, according to reports by local media. According to a report by Al-Mayadeen news channel cited by Fars News, a number of British troops beget been captured during the Syrian Arab Army’s operations in Eastern Ghouta.

They are believed to be a piece of international military forces deployed in the region to launch a ground assault in Damascus in cooperation with the US. According to the report, the US and other NATO countries, Jordan and Israel planned to launch attacks from several fronts, but the plot failed as Syrian armed forces made a series of rapid advances in Eastern Ghouta in March. The plot allegedly involved massive airstrikes by US and Israeli planes that were supposed to pave the way for ground forces.

“After the plot was disclosed, the Syrian-Russian military commanders started operations in Eastern Ghouta to repel it,” the sources cited by Al-Mayadeen and Fars said.

Since the plot failed due to rapid advances by the Syrian army, the US cancelled all operations planned for these foreign forces and ordered an immediate withdrawal from Eastern Ghouta through the eastern suburbs of Damascus, including Douma.

The US and Turkey sought to rescue foreign “militants and agents operating for Israel, Jordan and NATO,” now trapped in Ghouta, and waddle them to Idlib, the source says.

The Turkish initiative to attend with the evacuation of Nusra Front terrorists from Ghouta has reportedly been a coverup for “special foreign forces that were among the ranks of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated” Nusra front terror organization.

“Therefore, the US has ordered Jaysh al-Islam, Faylaq al-Rahman and other terrorist groups to allow the evacuation of civilians from Eastern Ghouta to army-held regions in a bid to provide the ground for these foreign agents to also leave Ghouta in disguise and enable the Turkish intelligence service to send them to specified regions in At-Tanf and northern Syria which are under the control of US troops,” the source said.

    https://special-ops.org/news/special-forces/syrian-army-allegedly-captures-british-special-forces-eastern-ghouta/

      • This is just absurd. I really don’t think Brit SAS would allow themselves to be captured alive without one hell of a fight. They would have called in danger close strikes before that and that would have leaked to the press.

        • For that many of the US Special Operators and the SAS to be captured or killed would mean a very large butchers bill on the other side. That number of casualties on their side couldn’t be hushed up.

Look at how the Russians couldn’t keep their dead mercs our of the papers.

  12. UK: We ‘sent a signal’ the ‘world won’t tolerate chemical weapons’ – Boris Johnson

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson stated that the US, UK and France “sent a signal that the world won’t tolerate the continuos erosion of the taboo against chemical weapons” during an interview in London, Sunday, following US-led airstrikes on Syria.

“The Skripal poisoning is totally on my mind, because you see a kind of continuum from Salisbury to Syria in the reckless, contemptuous use of these chemical weapons,” added Johnson before claiming to be “endangering public health in Salisbury in Wiltshire and completely indiscriminately killing civilians cowering in buildings in Douma in Eastern Ghouta.”

The US, UK and France launched airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus early on Saturday morning, targeting Syrian civil and military facilities..

The airstrikes were a response to a claim of a supposed chemical weapons attack on Douma last week. Syria and Russia have both denied the allegations, calling them ‘staged’ and a ‘fabrication.’

Think about it: Pakistan or whatever will keep a vigilant eye on its students or whatever in the U.S.A.
TRUMP doctrine: Assign responsibility where it belongs.

  15. Striking from all Sides

WASHINGTON: In one of the largest coordinated international air operations in years, over 100 American, British and French guided missiles slammed into three Syrian chemical weapons facilities early Saturday morning, launched from an armada of aircraft, submarines, and ships offshore.[…]

The missiles struck at the heart of the Syrian chemical weapons enterprise, taking out three sites, one in Damascus, and two further north near the city of Homs, that produce and story chlorine and sarin precursor materials.

The strike was remarkable for the number of widely dispersed assets used to hit the three targets:

    – From the Mediterranean, the U.S. Virginia-class submarine USS John Warner fired six Tomahawk missiles, and the French frigate Languedoc launched 3 SCALP missiles.

    – In the Red Sea, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Monterrey fired 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles, while the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Laboon launched another seven Tomahawks.

    – In the Arabian Gulf, another Burke, the USS Higgins, shot an additional 23 Tomahawks.

    – Additionally, U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers launched nineteen 2,000-lb. Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSM). The extended range variant, which was used in this strike, has a range of about 1,000 km.

    – British Typhoon and Tornado aircraft also launched 8 2,900-lb. Storm Shadow cruise missiles with a range of over 500 km.

    – French aircraft shot a further nine SCALPs.

It’s not yet clear which bases the allied aircraft launched from, although the B-1s probably came from al-Udeid in Qatar and Anglo-French aircraft from Europe.

It’s also not clear if there will be more strikes. Secretary of Defense James Mattis on Friday night called the strikes a “one time shot,” adding, “right now we have no additional attacks planned.”

No U.S. official would commit to more strikes if the Assad regime used chemical weapons against civilians again. The strikes pulled the United States deeper into the complex civil war in Syria that has claimed about half a million lives. It also adds a new tension to the deteriorating relationship between Moscow and Washington.

  16. MARCH 16 2018 – Terrorist capabilities laid bare in an Eastern Ghouta chemical lab

The battle of narratives over the use of chemical weapons in Syria has been raging ferociously for years. But a chemical lab discovered in Eastern Ghouta this week is set to change the parameters of the discourse.

[…]This week, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated some Eastern Ghouta farmlands between Shifouniyeh and Douma and discovered a well-equipped chemical laboratory run by Saudi-backed Islamist terrorists. Not a single Western reporter showed up to investigate the facility.

The media disinterest is strange, given that US officials appear poised to green-light military attacks against Syria, which they claim has used chemical weapons (CW) against civilian populations. This charge remains unproven and highly contentious, with other parties arguing that anti-government militants are employing CW munitions to provoke a US military intervention against Syria.

So perhaps it’s not so strange that a chemical lab discovered right at the epicenter of a major strategic battle over Syria is being ignored by one side. In the end, it is likely that only one side is right about who is using CWs in Syria. Which is why one side went silent when this lab was revealed.

The chemical facility lies only a few dozen meters away from the current military frontline and was liberated as recently as Monday. The lab is surrounded by farmlands – the last place one would expect to find this stash. I see fields of wheat, green peas, beans and chickpeas scattered liberally in a conflict area Western media dubs a “starvation siege.” The building itself is shell-pocked and littered with debris, like so many of the structures I pass in Shifouniyeh and other towns in Eastern Ghouta where war rages.

But the sight inside is astounding. Upper rooms packed with electronic hardware, basements outfitted with large boilers, shelves filled with chemical substances, corners heaving with blue and black canisters (reportedly containing chlorine), chemistry charts, books, beakers, vials, test tubes and all the paraphernalia familiar to the average student of science. And then, in several corners, piles of pipe-shaped projectiles – clear munitions of some sort.

There’s one real standout in an upper room of the facility. It’s a newish looking piece of equipment with “Hill-Rom Medaes Medplus Air Plant” written on its front. A cursory Google search pulls up several interesting facts immediately – the machine is some kind of air or gas compressor, it’s a US-manufactured product, and Saudi Arabia put out tenders for this device in 2015.

A list of numbers and phone extensions taped to the wall confirms that this area – and the lab – was controlled by Jaysh al-Islam, a Saudi-backed terrorist group whose political figurehead Mohammad Alloush was once invited to head up the opposition delegation at UN-sponsored Geneva talks.

The Saudis have been caught out many times during this conflict for diverting equipment and weapons to the Syrian battlefield – purchases that were intended by the seller to be used only by a Saudi end-user. The Hill-Rom compressor, like most Western scientific equipment, would have been banned for sale to Syria under tight sanctions laws. Even if not created for military purposes, many such products are viewed by US officials as featuring “dual-use” technologies.

A video emerged on Sunday showing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad meeting with Russian lawmakers in Damascus to discuss the current situation in the country. The recent US-led airstrikes in the city were reportedly on the agenda.

      • Wesley Clark went off the rails years ago. He and the big movers in the Pentagon don’t know why a 20+ nation coalition invaded Iraq?
How about they violated a score of UN resolutions meant to protect the Iraqi Kurdish population in the North and the Marsh Arabs in the South from being gassed AGAIN? How about they lit up our aircraft repeatedly; those aircraft charged to enforce the no fly zone over the North and South to prevent another genocide?
Don’t even get me started on the oil for food program. You won’t want to hear what I have to say about the Germans and French…
No, Wesley Clark is a loon and has no credibility.

  19. BREITBART – Macron: Trump to Stay Engaged in Syria ‘For the Long Term’

[…]“Ten days ago, President Trump was saying the United States of America had a duty to disengage from Syria,” Macron said.

“I assure you, we have convinced him that it is necessary to stay for the long-term,” he told veteran journalists Jean-Jacques Bourdin and Edwy Plenel, charged with the two-hour grilling on BFMTV.

[…]Macron also took the opportunity to hit out at newly re-elected Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban, whose views on Europe could hardly clash more with his own vision of closer integration.

“I share none of his values, but there he is,” Macron said, expressing worry at the rise of what he called “illiberal democracies” in Europe.
