  1. Who Misbehaves?
Claims that school discipline is unfairly meted out ignore actual classroom behavior.
    April 12, 2018
    Heather Mac Donald

Race advocates and the media are greeting a new General Accounting Office report on racial disparities in school discipline as a vindication of Obama administration policies. The GAO found that black students get suspended at nearly three times the rate of white students nationally, a finding consistent with previous analyses. The Obama Education and Justice Departments viewed that disproportion as proof of teacher and principal bias. Administration officials used litigation and the threatened loss of federal funding to force schools to reduce suspensions and expulsions radically in order to eliminate racial disparities in discipline. The GAO report, which implicitly rubberstamps the Obama approach, comes just as Trump education secretary Betsy DeVos is evaluating whether to rescind Obama’s school discipline directives. DeVos should go forward with that rescission: the administration’s policies were fatally flawed, as is the GAO report that attempts to justify them.

The GAO report ignores the critical question regarding disciplinary disparities: do black students in fact misbehave more than white students? The report simply assumes, without argument, that black students and white students act identically in class and proceeds to document their different rates of discipline. This assumption of equivalent school behavior is patently unjustified. According to federal data, black male teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at nearly 10 times the rate of white male teenagers of the same age (the category “white” in this homicide data includes most Hispanics; if Hispanics were removed from the white category, the homicide disparity between blacks and whites would be much higher). That higher black homicide rate indicates a failure of socialization; teen murderers of any race lack impulse control and anger-management skills. Lesser types of juvenile crime also show large racial disparities. It is fanciful to think that the lack of socialization that produces such elevated rates of criminal violence would not also affect classroom behavior. While the number of black teens committing murder is relatively small compared with their numbers at large, a very high percentage of black children—71 percent—come from the stressed-out, single-parent homes that result in elevated rates of crime.

  2. Have Democrats Actually Evolved Since Clinton and Kennedy?

    Daniel Greenfield

That’s the thesis of professional feminist, Jill Fillipovic. Over at NBC News. Never mind, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton. We’re much more sophisticated now.

Since Chappaquiddick, Democrats’ views of women have evolved. Republicans’ still need to. – The new movie about the Ted Kennedy’s involvement in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne highlights the progress women have made in the Democratic party

Except that Ted Kennedy’s career ended fairly recently. Al Franken’s career ended much more recently. Until the last election, Bill Clinton remained a potent force among the Dems.

President Trump has cut taxes, slashed regulations, boosted the U.S. economy, kept his promise to “bomb the shit out of ISIS,” and put “Rocket Man” Kim Jong-un in his place. The president tweets about fake news, such as the Russia collusion story, and also targets fake Indians such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and fake Vietnam veterans such as Sen. Richard Blumenthal. With all that and more going on, it’s easy to forget that few observers gave Donald Trump any chance of winning.

As Gerard Lameiro notes in his new book More Great News for America: The Dawning of the New Conservative Era (How and Why the Good Guys Win in the End!), a Monmouth poll on October 17, 2016 had Hillary Clinton ahead 50-38 and a November 7 poll put Hillary Clinton ahead 47-43. Lameiro, a talk radio host, was going the other way.

  4. Facebook Told to Stop Deleting German User’s Immigrant Comment (bloomberg, Apr 12, 2018)
    https://bloom.bg/2qs85l3

“A German court barred Facebook Inc. from deleting a post written by one of its users, throwing into question how the social media platform manages freedom of speech in the country.

Facebook blocked the user, identified only as Gabor B., and deleted his post — a comment under a newspaper article that questioned Germany’s practice of aiding the influx of refugees in Europe.

“Germans are getting increasingly stupid,” the user wrote in January. “No wonder, since the left-wing system media litters them every day with fake news about ’skilled workers,’ declining unemployment figures or Trump.”

Germany has been especially difficult terrain for social networks after Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government this year started enforcing Europe’s toughest law aimed at reining in hate speech and fake news on social media — threatening to fine the likes of Facebook, Twitter Inc., and Alphabet Inc.’s YouTube up to 50 million euros ($62 million) if they refuse to delete illegal posts.

The Berlin district court hasn’t disclosed why it issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting the network from blocking Gabor B’s account and deleting the comment in the future. Gabor B.’s lawyer argued that Facebook has breached the contract with its user that obliges the social network to publish comments that are legal…”

  5. Turkey plans to place quarter of top students in Islamic schools (mee, Apr 12, 2018)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkey-says-plans-place-quarter-top-students-islamic-schools-1344684327

“Nearly a quarter of top-performing students entering Turkish upper schools are expected to be placed in religious Imam Hatip schools, the education minister said on Thursday, a level which secular critics say unfairly prioritises Islamic education.

The top 10 percent of students currently in their final year of middle school are set to win places in selected schools under a new entrance exam system in June, part of education reforms drafted on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s orders.

Erdogan has said one of his goals is to forge a “pious generation” in largely Muslim Turkey and the number of pupils at Imam Hatip schools, founded to train future imams and preachers, rose five-fold to 1.3 million students in the last six years.

According to the exam system guide posted on the education ministry website, nearly 300 of the 1,367 schools selected to receive students who pass the exam are Imam Hatip schools.

Education Minister Ismet Yilmaz told broadcaster CNN Turk in an interview the religious school allocation was low compared to the 62 percent allotment for science and regular high schools.

“Is everyone going to Imam Hatips? That’s an exaggeration,” he said. “We envisage the level going to Imam Hatips will be 23 percent. Twenty-three percent is not bigger than 62.”

“We are not forcing anyone to do anything,” he said, adding parents did not have to send children to particular schools.

While Imam Hatip students make up 11 percent of the total upper school population, they were allocated some 23 percent of funding in this year’s budget, a Reuters report showed in January…”

  6. Muslim Accused of Strangling Daughter’s Boyfriend Arrested Over Religion Motivated Attack (breitbart, Apr 12, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/04/12/muslim-father-strangles-daughters-boyfriend-not-muslim/

“French police arrested a man after he attempted to strangle his daughter’s boyfriend, apparently enraged at having found out that the young man was not a Muslim.

The attack occurred in the commune of Givors on the outskirts of Lyon on Tuesday morning and saw the Muslim man, described to be in his 50s, enter the house of the boyfriend of his daughter. The father later said to police that he had gone on the pretext that the boyfriend had been physically violent to his daughter Le Progrès, a regional newspaper in Lyon, reports.

Once he got to the home of the young man, the father barged through the door and struck his daughter’s boyfriend several times before getting an electric cable and attempting to strangle him with it.

The young man was eventually able to escape his attacker and called the police…”

        Jews forget their own history.

During communist revolution in Russia majority of Jews supported it

During German occupation of Europe it was Jewish elite who cooperated with Gestapo.( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eichmann_in_Jerusalem )

37% of positions in the communist apparatus of repression in occupied by Stalin Poland were occupied by Jews. They dealt with condemning to death representatives of the Polish intellectual elite who managed to survive the war .
        *************************
I do not understand Israeli politicians, they attack country in which up till now majority of people were not anti Semitic, in which there were no attacks on Jews if some of them wanted to walk wearing kippa, like presently they are in Western Europe. Their verbal attack seems to be aimed at increasing or starting hostility towards Jews.
It seems to me that they WANT an increase of hostility so then they will be able to say “See, we told you, Poles are anti semitic. Poles are anti semitic quite unlike the good people from the Western Europe” !!!!
