  1. What happens when the British police investigate you for thought-crime about Islam on facebook :

    • A reference to a quote from the Police Officer: ‘If you are anti-Islam that puts you right-of-centre’

A Muhammad who raped and pilaged and commanded his dhimmis to do likewise!

To resist puts you in your center.

Right of Center is to envy Muslims, to want to fill their jackboots.

Left of Center is to want sadomasochistic virtue and validation from Muslims.

UK Police: still hiring the witless.

      • We all talk about Brave New World and 1984 and very few of us ever mention A Clockwork Orange.

I suppose that is because its too scary to contemplate.

        • “In his essay Clockwork Oranges, Burgess asserts that “this title would be appropriate for a story about the application of Pavlovian or mechanical laws to an organism which, like a fruit, was capable of colour and sweetness.”[18]”

“A Clockwork Orange was written in Hove, then a senescent seaside town.[11] Burgess had arrived back in Britain after his stint abroad to see that much had changed. A youth culture had grown, including coffee bars, pop music and teenage gangs.[12] England was gripped by fears over juvenile delinquency.[11] Burgess claimed that the novel’s inspiration was his first wife Lynne’s beating by a gang of drunk American servicemen stationed in England during World War II. She subsequently miscarried.[11][13] In its investigation of free will, the book’s target is ostensibly the concept of behaviourism, pioneered by such figures as B. F. Skinner.[14]”

“Skinner considered free will an illusion and human action dependent on consequences of previous actions. If the consequences are bad, there is a high chance the action will not be repeated; if the consequences are good, the probability of the action being repeated becomes stronger.[7]_

“Walden Two is a utopian novel written by behavioral psychologist B. F. Skinner, first published in 1948. In its time, it could have been considered science fiction, since science-based methods for altering people’s behavior did not yet exist.[1][2] Such methods are now known as applied behavior analysis.”

            • BF Skinner said in the documentary at 20:25 at Twin Oaks in designing the working practice, he had assumed labor (from the teaching of Marxism) was for The Common Good when he then learned the hammock-makers played music and word games to keep themselves motivated and amused.

          • “Twin Oaks Intentional Community was founded in 1967 based on the behaviorist principles of BF Skinner’s book Walden Two. We are no longer a behaviorist community, but it is here that our roots lie, and so we are including this information on our website. Note that Twin Oaks does retain some of it’s Walden Two roots: the labor system and planner/manager decision-making system were important elements in Walden Two and are still central to life at Twin Oaks (current information, year 2010).

This material was originally posted to spur discussion of issues raised in and by B.F. Skinner’s 1948 utopian novel, Walden Two, and issues about communities and behavior science. It was created by Nexus (who was a member of Twin Oaks at the time.)

  2. French, Malian Troops Kill 30 Militants in Mali Gun Battle (aawsat, Apr 5, 2018)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1228016/french-malian-troops-kill-30-militants-mali-gun-battle

“French and Malian troops killed around 30 militants during a gunbattle near the border with Niger, the French army said on Thursday.

Spokesman Colonel Patrik Steiger confirmed that Malian forces sustained “losses” but there were no French casualties.

Soldiers from France’s Barkhane force and Malian troops were on a reconnaissance mission 90 km (56 miles) south of Menaka on Sunday when they encountered several dozen extremist militants, some on motorcycles, the Colonel added, according to Reuters.

French commandos and Malian forces began a “reconnaissance and control operation” in the Akabar region on March 28, AFP reported Steiger as saying.

“On April 1, they were confronted by an armed terrorist group, estimated to number 60 individuals, around 90 kilometres (55 miles) south of Menaka and three kilometres from the Nigerien border,” he said.

France intervened militarily in Mali in 2013 to help government forces drive al-Qaeda-linked militants out of the north.”

  3. Mega marine canal project along Saudi-Qatari border on cards(saudigazette, Apr 5, 2018)
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/532105/SAUDI-ARABIA/Mega-marine-canal-project-along-Saudi-Qatari-border-on-cards

“AN integrated project for excavating a marine canal along the borders with Qatar is set to be carried out with investments by a consortium of nine Saudi companies in this field. The project is awaiting official approval and licensing to begin execution, which will be completed within 12 months only, according to Sabq online newspaper, which said it had knowledge of the integrated tourism project.

The drawn up plan includes excavating a marine canal from Khor Salwa to Khor Al-Udayd such that it becomes an undisrupted extension of the Saudi eastern coast. The only disruption to this extension of the Saudi eastern coast is the 60-km long land border with Qatar. This hinders trade exchange. There are plans to develop tourism in the vital region, as it is the center for linking the Arab Gulf countries.

    Reason for selection

This location was chosen due to the importance of the area and its vitality, apart from its sandy nature that is conducive to carry out the project. There are no mountain ranges or rugged topography that would impede the excavation operations. Furthermore, the canal will not pass through populated villages or agricultural areas, but will enhance activity in the area.

The area will be distinct with the various scheduled other projects, whether oil-related or industrial, qualifying the area to become an economic and industrial center.

    Details of the project

A 200-meter wide marine canal, with a depth of 15-20 meters and length of 60 km will be the link between Khor Salwa and Khor Al-Udayd. It will be capable of handling all kinds of vessels, including container and passenger ships.

The maximum length of a ship should not exceed 295 meters, maximum width 33 meters and maximum depth should not exceed 12 meters. The preliminary cost is projected as nearly SR2.8 billion and will be carried out in 12 months from the date of project approval.

    Resorts and private beaches

The project also aims to build resorts along the new coast. They will be in the form of separate units guaranteeing private beaches for each resort. Apart from these, there will be five major hotels, one of which will be in Salwa, the second in “Sikak”, the third will be in Khor Al-Udayd and two in Ras Abu Qamees.

    Ports

As to ports, apart from Ras Abu Qamees, a port will be constructed in Salwa and another in Uqlat Al-Zawayid. The project also includes construction of wharves on both banks of the canal for marine sports and yachts.

Other wharves will be for tourist passenger ships. The project will be the most outstanding in the Gulf region due to its pivotal location among the Gulf countries and a center linking them.

The scheduled activities include the establishment of two companies for marine trips, whether between Gulf countries or those located in the Indian Ocean and the setting up of a free trade zone to encourage trade exchange.

    Benefits from the project

Among the most prominent direct benefits of the project is activating tourism via marine trips between Gulf countries, especially in the areas with pristine coasts, coral reefs and diverse marine topography, so as to encourage tourism via yachts and boats.

The objectives include encouraging permitted fishing such that it does not affect the fish resources, as well as reducing temperatures by at least two degrees. There is the possibility of increasing rainfall in the area, stopping sandstorms and stabilizing the desert soil.

The benefits also include increasing the populated areas, providing various investment options, creating new jobs, expanding fishing industry, farming of various kinds of marine life and investment in saline agriculture. This includes breeding plants and crops that are irrigated with saline water and providing sources of water by desalination. This will encourage settlement in the area that is sparsely populated due to an acute shortage of potable drinking water.

    Will they be international waters?

The canal will be along the borders with Qatar. It will nullify all the land borders, and it will be purely Saudi territories for a length of 1 km from the official border with the State of Qatar. This will make the terrestrial area adjacent to Qatar a military zone for protection and monitoring.

Despite the proposed length being 1 km, the matter will be referred to the related authorities, like the Ministry of Defense and Border Guard to specify the safe and necessary areas.

This aspect does not pose any problem, for according to the project plan the topography of the area is favorable in all conditions. However, some measures might increase the length of the canal by 1-5 km, according to understanding with the related security authorities.”

  4. Qatar introduces national service for women (ahram, Apr 5, 2018)
    http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/2/8/297118/World/Region/Qatar-introduces-national-service-for-women.aspx

“Qatar is introducing national service for women for the first time while extending the time served in the military by conscripted men, under a law issued by the country’s Emir.

Women aged over 18 will be able to volunteer for national service under the law, which comes into immediate affect, while men will now serve a year instead of three months, state media said on Thursday.

“Every Qatari male between 18 and 35… is required to perform a compulsory military service,” the Qatar News Agency said.

“National service for females is voluntary,” it added.

Sources with knowledge of the matter said it was the first time women had been allowed to undertake national service, although some women already serve in the military in administrative roles.

It is not yet known what roles those women volunteering for national service would undertake.

The decision to extend the rules surrounding conscription, first introduced in November 2013, comes with Qatar at the centre of deepening diplomatic Gulf crisis, which turned 10 months old on Thursday.”

“The local officials in eastern Kunar province confirm that the Pakistani planes have conducted an airstrike along the Durand Line in Dangam district of Kunar.

Deputy provincial governor Gul Mohammad Bidar confirmed the airstrike and said a high peak was targeted in the airstrike but no one was hurt in the raid.

Bidar further added that the latest violation by the Pakistani air forces has taken place amid ongoing artillery shelling.

He also added that the provincial government has prepared a report regarding the artillery shelling and airstrike and has been sent to the central government.

The Ministry of Defense and the central government officials have not commented in this regard so far.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) Gen. Dawlat Waziri had earlier said that the border forces do not need a permission to respond to the incursions.

He said they (border forces) have already been granted permission to act and respond to the artilley shelling in a similar manner.

This comes as Kunar governor’s spokesman Abdul Ghani Mosamim also confirmed the shelling and said at least two civilians were wounded in Dangam district.

According to Mosamim, the artillery shells landed in three districts of Kunar including Dangam, Shiltan, and Sarkano districts.

However, another security official says at least five civilians have been wounded during the latest shelling and hundreds more have been force to abandon their homes.”

The statement further added that the airstrike has caused massive property damages to the residents of the area.

The Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan called the attack a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

The statement by the Foreign Ministry further added that the Islamic Republic Afghanistan warns that the continuation of such steps, which are against the international principles and principles of good neighbors, will have dire consequences on bilateral relations of the two countries.

The attack took place in Aguelhoc in the northern region of Kidal, and the victims were from the Central African nation of Chad.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, though a number of Islamic extremist groups are known to be active in the area.

Kidal was among the Malian towns under jihadist rule in 2012 until a French-led military operation ousted them from power and dispersed them into the desert. They have staged numerous attacks on Malian and international forces.”

  12. The Jewdas Gambit, assimilation and distorted statistics

Jeremy Corbyn attended a politicised Passover Seder service held by a fringe Jewish group called Jewdas. Up until three days ago many people had not heard of Jewdas and I imagine that they are thankful for all the publicity they have been given. Jewdas are agitators, which is why Jeremy Corbyn would probably feel at home with them. A small group of people on the fringes of a community, pushing terms such as ‘f..k capitalism’ and ‘f..k the monarch’. It probably reminded Corbyn of days when he was young and free enough to join in with those type of chants. #nostalgia

The post isn’t really about Jewdas or the Seder, but both must be addressed. It must be noted that Jewdas isn’t everyone who was at the Seder ceremony. In some ways they are like a novelty act and people like to watch. It is also important to state that the uproar had nothing to do with Jewdas and everything to do with Corbyn. Jeremy Corbyn had either thought through the decision to attend the Jewdas Seder or he had not.

“If your recent declarations are due to frustration over issues to do with internal policy, your laws, or your Congress, direct yourself to them, not to Mexicans,” a stern-looking Pena Nieto said in a pre-recorded address to the nation.

Mexico’s Senate and the country’s leading presidential candidates have all condemned Trump for his border plans in recent days, and Pena Nieto said he agreed with all of them.
