  2. Taliban hostage kills 7 militants, injures 18 more in Paktika province (khaama, Mar 15, 2018)
    https://www.khaama.com/taliban-hostage-kills-7-militants-injures-18-more-in-paktika-province-04656/

“A man kidnapped by the Taliban insurgents has killed at least seven militants before escaping from the captivity of the militants, the local officials said.

The Paktika governor’s office said in a statement the kidnapped individual hails from Sarobi district and is the brother of Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces commander.

The man has been identified as Awal Khan the brother of ALP commander Darya Khan who was kidnapped on Wednesday.

Darya Khan says the Taliban militants were looking to present his brother to Taliban shadow governor as they were conducting aerial firing on the way to their leader’s residence.

He said his brother reacted immediately after reaching Gomal district and while the Taliban insurgents were busy consulting among themselves and took the weapon of one of them.

Khan further added that his brother opened fire on Taliban insurgents, leaving seven of them dead and eighteen others wounded and escaped the district using the Taliban vehicle.

In the meantime, the govenror’s office in Paktika says the death toll of the Taliban could higher than reported but citing initial reports the provincial government said at least seven militants have been killed and eighteen others have been wounded.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.”

    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/ottoman-turkish-should-be-taught-in-schools-erdogan-says-128828

“President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has once again said Ottoman Turkish should be taught in schools, accusing the early Republican period’s “language revolution” of “destroying” the Turkish language.

“It is one of the biggest problems in recent history that our language has become a subject of political discussions. In the name of ‘language revolution,’ our Turkish was attacked by unpleasant, dull and soulless words.

The bond between our nation and its old civilization was tried to be weakened,” Erdo?an said on March 15 at the award ceremony of a high school’s composition contest at the presidential complex in Ankara.

Ottoman Turkish is an old form of Turkish using Arabic script, with many words borrowed from Persian and Arabic. As part of cultural reforms to create a Western-style secular state, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, replaced Ottoman Turkish with the Latin alphabet.

In 1932, as part of Atatürk’s drive to make the new form of Turkish more widespread, the Turkish Language Society (Türk Dil Kurumu) was founded.

Erdo?an has long criticized the changes, saying it made Turkey lose touch with its history…”

EXCLUSIVE REPORT: Massive Layoffs To Hit Tomorrow, VA Secretary Shulkin & Chief Of Staff Gen. John Kelly FIRED

A source close to multiple senior White House officials has exclusively told the Gateway Pundit that massive layoffs within the Trump administration are slated to hit tomorrow.

Speaking anonymously but on the record, The Gateway Pundit was informed the layoffs will not just affect senior officials but entire teams:

Among senior officials on the chopping block is chief of staff John Kelly and VA Secretary Shulkin.

Our source explained that these moves will help put power back in the hands of the president: “Trump wants to take back control of his administration, that means more allies come in for the first time. Even the people who don’t end up getting fired, he’s looking for plan Bs on everybody at this point. I’m curious to see how Muller responds…”[…]

  5. Afghan who stormed toward Merkel has psychological problems

BERLIN — Police say a man from Afghanistan who tried to reach German Chancellor Angela Merkel as she exited Parliament has been committed to a psychiatric clinic.

German TV stations showed the man shouting unintelligibly [ I guess they mean Allahu Ackbar ! ] while being tackled by plainclothes police as Merkel walked out of the Bundestag following her election for a fourth term Wednesday. The man was tackled to the ground about 20 feet (6 meters) away from Merkel as she got into her car.

Berlin police said Thursday the 23-year-old, whose name hasn’t been released, has psychological problems but his actions “weren’t religiously or politically motivated.” The man is being investigated on suspicion of resisting arrest.

  6. ‘Exceptional’ problems in Sweden’s vulnerable suburbs: report (thelocal, Mar 15, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.se/20180315/exceptional-problems-in-swedens-vulnerable-suburbs-report

“A new report suggests that two fifths of residents in Sweden’s vulnerable areas feel unsafe when they are outdoors at night.

The “Relationship with the judiciary in socially vulnerable areas” report by Sweden’s National Council on Crime Prevention (Brå) used interviews with residents, police, business owners and public sector employees to assess the situation in the areas described by authorities as vulnerable.

One in three residents of the 61 areas say they feel there are significant problems with open drug dealing, as well as shootings. Many say certain individuals or groups prevent them from moving freely.

“The research shows problems in these areas that are likely to be exceptional in comparison to other residential areas. Open drug dealing occurs, while property damage, littering and serious traffic crimes impact the living environment. Some of the areas suffer serious violent crime for periods,” the report explains.

“Many residents feel insecure around groups of young men who spend a lot of time outside in the areas. Even if it’s only a small proportion of them who are threatening or commit crimes, it’s often difficult for the residents to distinguish which situations and people to be wary of,” Brå’s Erik Nilsson told The Local.

“The interviews show that the difference between times of the day and even between areas is significant.”

According to Brå’s figures, 38 percent of residents in socially vulnerable areas say they feel unsafe while out at night (compared to around 27 percent in other urban areas).

Some of the problems in the areas are highly localized, so people who live on different parts of the same street may come across crime to completely different extents. For example some residents said they feel safe, but make significant adjustments to their daily lives in order for that to happen, such as avoiding specific places or people.

The safest people appear to be those who know the young men who spend their time outside at night, and by extension know which situations to avoid.

Women in particular are suffering, with the majority living in the areas (55.3 percent) saying that they feel unsafe. The male dominance of public spaces is one of the contributing factors, Brå’s research suggests.

“It’s a pattern that is also reflected across wider society. But much suggest that a contributing factor is that these areas are dominated by men when it comes to public spaces. Not least in the evenings, when few women and girls move around outdoors. That can of course be a result of insecurity, but it can also a contributing factor to it,” Nilsson said.

The report highlights signs of parallel societies in the areas, with law and order problems impacting confidence in the police among residents. Only half of those living in the areas say they have faith in the police, which is a lower proportion than in other urban areas.

It is particularly challenging for police to build and sustain confidence as views of them vary according to age groups: the elderly feel the police are too soft, while young men think they are treated unfairly.

Many people who live in the suburbs also say they feel they have been forgotten about or are not treated the same as those who live in other places.

“We think the judicial system needs to develop its methods, work with the long-term in mind, and learn from successful strategies in different parts of the country. What appear to be less serious problems like for example traffic crimes or property damage are easily overlooked because of more serious crime, but they have a significant impact on the way residents see the police capacity (to act), and by extension their willingness to turn and cooperate with the police,” Nilsson pointed out.

“Many residents express feeling of being forgotten by society at large, and want a greater presence from authorities – not just police – in the areas.””

    • According to Brå’s figures, 38 percent of residents in socially vulnerable areas say they feel unsafe while out at night (compared to around 27 percent in other urban areas).

Why is it that no one seems to have the courage to ask these same interviewees the following question:

Was there a time when you felt relatively safe walking at night here and living where you are and, if so, what year was that?

Compiling and publishing that data would trigger conniption fits all across Europe.

  7. Mistrust and Islamophobia see dramatic rise in Germany’s melting pot (DW, Mar 15, 2018)
    http://www.dw.com/en/mistrust-and-islamophobia-see-dramatic-rise-in-germanys-melting-pot/a-42994090

“A new study has found that the Ruhr Valley, once a pillar of integration, is witnessing a growth of intolerance. Researchers found a startling correlation between increased mistrust and the success of the far-right AfD.

The Ruhr Valley, commonly called Germany’s rust belt or melting pot, has relied on its immigrant communities more than any other part of the country. Migrants looking for work began flocking to the area during the industrial revolution, before the rapid development of the coal and steel industries brought tens of thousands of Turks to the area after World War II.

Yet this densely populated region has seen a startling increase in Islamophobia and mistrust between communities in just the past two years, according a new report published Thursday by the Brost Foundation.

    Neighbor versus neighbor

One prime example of this physical and psychological segregation can be seen in the struggling city of Duisburg, which is cut in half by the A40 highway. The southern part of the city is clean and well-maintained, home to an upscale pedestrian shopping district and all of the city’s cultural attractions. The northern half is dirty and derelict, poorly connected to public transport, filled with empty shopfronts and men spending their days on street corners smoking.

“We’re used as some sort of symbol for criminality because we don’t look like the rest of Germany,” said Gamze, a young shop clerk fed up with her neighborhood being labeled a “no-go zone.”

“I was born here. My children were born here. I’m German.”

But the mistrust is widespread, both north and south of the A40. For Gamze, it was the Romanians and Bulgarians who brought danger to her community. For some Romanians, it was the Syrian refugees. And for one elderly ethnic German man, “this all began with the damn Americans.”

AfD brings ‘hate-filled view of Islam’

According to the Brost report, only 37 percent of Ruhr Valley residents believe that Islam belongs in Germany. Compared to 2015, far fewer people say they have Muslim friends or that they believe that Islam “is a religion like any other,” and more people believe that Islam is discriminatory against women.

The number of respondents who believed that Germans had to work just as hard at integration as new arrivals also dropped significantly, from 33 percent to 18 percent.

Additionally, 49 percent of residents believe that living together “between ethnic Germans and Muslims,” is “somewhat difficult,” compared to just 40 who view the situation as “uncomplicated.”

The study accounted for the drastic changes on two fronts – the refugee crisis that began in earnest in the summer of 2015, and the rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) in the Ruhr Valley.

“An extremely negative, hate-filled view of Islam was prevalent among supporters of the AfD,” the authors wrote. Indeed, 80 percent of party followers believed that living together with Muslims was “difficult.”

For the right-wing populists, the Ruhr Valley has been a major success story. In federal elections last September, the nationalists received strong support from Ruhr voters with 17 percent of the vote, and sent the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), who have long been the strongest party in the region, to a historical low of only 20 percent.

But there are other societal factors playing a role in the fractured relationship.

“Children in the Ruhr Valley have a higher risk than most for poor education,” the study found, “and for being segregated” into ethnic communities than most German youth.

The report’s authors said, however, that there was not only reason to despair of integration as a failed project. 86 percent of Ruhr Valley residents said that they believed integration was helpful to everyone, and 57 percent said they saw new Muslims “as friends or colleagues.”

“Islam belongs in Germany. I said that as a patriot,” wrote former German president Christian Wulff in his foreword, referring to a statement he made as head of state that sparked heated debate.

The study suggests one major change federal government could undertake in order to stop the rising tide of intolerance. First: dual citizenship. A lack of a German passports has kept many immigrant communities from voting and desegregating, a permanent barrier to feeling at home and participating in the democracy in which they live, some of them for nearly all their lives.”

    • “AfD brings ‘hate-filled view of Islam”

Let me get this straight…..so anything bad about Islam is an invention of the AfD and has nothing to do with with Islam itself or the behaviour of the sect members belonging to the supremist ideology? Not the honour killings, not the truck jihad, not the knife/axe jihad and not the violence in no-go zones including rapes (grooming gangs)?

And the punch line – the only way to better integration is just to give every illegal immigrant/asylum seeker dual citizenship so they can vote. Ah. Guess we should just all stop speaking German and put everything in Arabic/Turkish too.

Neo-liberalism is the scourge of the earth.

  8. German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer: ‘Islam doesn’t belong to Germany’ (DW, Mar 15, 2018)
    http://www.dw.com/en/german-interior-minister-horst-seehofer-islam-doesnt-belong-to-germany/a-42999726

“In a slight to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, new Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said Islam is not part of German culture. His comments underscore his efforts to push the government to the right.

Germany’s new government may now finally be in place, but Chancellor Angela Merkel’s grand coalition appears to be off to a rocky start.

On Thursday, newly inaugurated Interior Minister Horst Seehofer disagreed with the belief that the Islamic faith is part of German culture — a statement that Merkel has repeatedly made since 2015.

“No. Islam does not belong to Germany,” he said in an interview with the German daily Bild newspaper. “Germany has been shaped by Christianity.”

Certain Christian-inspired aspects are part of daily life and culture in Germany, Seehofer said, naming examples such as shops being closed on Sundays and public holidays that correspond to church holidays like Easter, Pentecost and Christmas.

Seehofer told the paper that people who practice Islam are, of course, part of Germany.

“The Muslims who live with us obviously belong to Germany,” he noted, adding that “false consideration for others clearly does not mean we give up our country-specific traditions and customs.”…”

    • A comment from a farrr-rrright wing Anon:

Make no mistake. It is too late.

There are 80 million people living in Germany. Assuming about 10 million of them in the age bracket 18 – 28 years old. Of which 1 million today already are Turks in second generation. About 3 million Muslims joined exactly that age bracket in the last 3 years. Young males.

That makes for 4 million Muslims out of a total of 13 million, or 15%. They are now family reunioning, shipping in their wives into Germany, typically bigamists with multiple wives, so their share goes up to 7 million Muslims out of a total of 17 million in that age bracket, bringing the ratio up to 45%.

Did I mention that with 1,3 children per female, indigenous Germans cannot replace their population, or culture, or national heritage. A clear majority of Muslim children already now.

We are witnessing a new generation of a Muslim country. Within 10 – 15 years, they will staff the army, operate nuclear installations, run political parties, their children will outnumber their German hosts in the banks, local government, corporate life, you name it.

Prepare for it. This train already left the station.

  9. In Saudi Arabia, domestic workers are auctioned online (france24, Mar 15, 2018)
    http://observers.france24.com/en/20180315-saudi-arabia-domestic-workers-are-auctioned-online

“When Moroccan website Yabiladi published images of social media posts by people in Saudi Arabia putting up Moroccan domestic workers “for sale”, there was an outpouring of shock and outrage. This is an illegal but apparently tolerated deviation of Saudi Arabia’s “kafala” system of guardianship, where foreign domestic workers are completely dependent on their sponsors – who are often also their employers.

Instagram, Twitter and Facebook are the new playing fields for recruitment agencies that deal with foreign domestic workers in Saudi Arabia. The very first site that the international press discovered was the Twitter account “Moussaouqa Oum Ghada” (in English, “Oum Ghada Market”), where domestic workers are sold and bartered. The account, which has close to 2,000 followers, has been going strong since October 2013. The ads for domestic workers are usually screengrabs of WhatsApp conversations, illustrated with photos.

There’s a brief description of the worker, highlighting her strengths and weaknesses. Usually the description is followed by the hashtag (in Arabic) “#DomesticWorkerToLetGo” and an explanation of why the employers are “letting go” this particular worker.

The reasons range widely. Sometimes, the former employers are moving. Other times, the employers admit that they’ve been late paying their employees and, instead of rectifying the situation, they prefer to let the employee go. On other occasions, they launch accusations at their employee, claiming, for example, that she didn’t look after the children properly. One message even specifies that the employee can be taken for a trial period if the employer wants to better evaluate her skills…”

    • Saudi treatment of Foreign Guest Workers has always been a hair’s breadth away from traditional Islamic slavery. Too often, it is flat-out, Koranic-compliant, classic Islamic enslavement. MBS has a lot on his plate if he is going to drag Saudi Arabia kicking and screaming into the twenty-first century. Hell, they barely made it into the twentieth century in any meaningful way.

  13. Berlin’s children pile up teddy bears in solidarity with Syrian refugees

German school children made a giant pile of teddy bears in Berlin on Thursday, to show solidarity with the huge numbers of young Syrians growing up without an education, as the civil war entered its eighth year.

The children helped lay 740 teddies on the steps of Berlin’s Konzerthaus, each one representing 1,000 Syrian refugees denied an education, many of them living in camps near the Syrian border.

There are more than 2.5 million Syrian child refugees, about 740,000 of them of school age but with no access to education, charity World Vision Germany said. The war has killed hundreds of thousands of people and uprooted 11 million.

“I have donated some of my old toys to a refugee camp near us,” said Fee Muehlemann, an 11-year-old girl wrapped in a scarf and hat against the cold as she added teddies to the pile.

“You can help them by treating them normally, introducing them to daily life and giving the children of school age an education,” she said.

Hussam Alheraky, an 18-year-old Syrian refugee, said: “It’s the seventh anniversary of the revolution. This means something big: that the world didn’t do anything. The world has no conscience.”

Alheraky fled first to Jordan after his school was struck by missiles during his final exams.

After arriving in Germany in late 2016 and learning the language, he won a place in a selective high school in Stuttgart, but remains worried about the plight of those he left behind.

“There are people who are having children there. They are getting married and having children, there at the border,” he said. “Of course those generations cannot write their own names.”
