  1. Pew: Sub-Saharan Africa Is Fastest Growing Region for ‘Exporting’ Migrants (breitbart, Mar 13, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/13/pew-sub-saharan-africa-fastest-growing-region-exporting-migrants/

“Emigration from countries of Sub-Saharan Africa has risen dramatically in recent years and the region currently accounts for eight of the 10 fastest growing international migrant populations, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center.

Analyzing the latest United Nations data on the number of people living outside their country of birth, Pew found that the rate of emigration from these eight African nations—South Sudan, Central African Republic, Sao Tome and Principe, Eritrea, Namibia, Rwanda, Botswana, and Burundi—grew by more than 50 percent, and in some cases as much as 200-300 percent. The number rises to 9 of the top 10 if Sudan—much of which is sub-Saharan—is included.

As Pew notes, sub-Saharan Africa comprises all countries and territories in continental Africa except Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and Western Sahara. Sub-Saharan Africa also includes a number of islands: Cape Verde, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, and St. Helena.

The worldwide average increase in international migration for the same seven-year period was 17 percent, just over half the average increase in emigration among all sub-Saharan African nations (31 percent).

The only country outpacing emigration from sub-Saharan countries was Syria, which saw a massive spike in emigration due to the large numbers of people fleeing armed conflict and Islamic State terrorism.

As a region, sub-Saharan Africa experienced the second highest growth in emigration between 2010 and 2017, more than doubling the rate of increase from both the Asia-Pacific (15 percent) and Latin America-Caribbean (9 percent) regions. Only the Middle East-North Africa region outpaced sub-Saharan Africa with the slightly larger increase (39 percent) of people living outside of their birth country.

In 2017, some 25 million sub-Saharan migrants lived outside their countries of birth in 2017. Moreover, the destination of migrants has also shifted. Whereas in 1990, 75 percent of emigrants from the region had moved to other sub-Saharan countries, this share dropped to 68 percent by 2017. Contemporaneously, the portion of sub-Saharan migrants living in European Union countries, Norway and Switzerland increased from 11 percent in 1990 to 17 percent in 2017.

Italy, which has taken the brunt of immigration into the European Union ever since Turkey began blocking migrants from crossing over into Greece in March 2016, receives migrants almost exclusively of African provenance.

Among countries of origin, Nigeria accounts for the largest single group of migrants entering Italy by sea, with nearly twice as many (15.7 percent) Nigerians entering Italy during 2017 as those from Guinea, the second largest immigrant group by country of provenance (8.4 percent).

Among the top 10 countries of origin, nine are African with the sole exception being Bangladesh, which accounted for 7.7 percent of new arrivals into Italy in 2017.”

  7. ‘Is It About Muslims?’ Sweden Pledges Crackdown on Religious ‘Free Schools’ (sputniknews, Mar 13, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201803131062477817-sweden-religious-schools/

“In the future, groups that don’t support Swedish values such as gender equality may be banned from starting or running religious schools. This may particularly affect Muslim schools, as the proposal has come amid a lingering controversy featuring Islamic fundamentalism.

Following a call by Swedish Education Minister Gustav Fridolin to tighten the regulation of religious “free schools” in the Nordic country, the ruling Social Democratic party renewed their pledge to free Swedish schools from all religious elements, the newspaper Aftonbladet reported.

“Those who do not support fundamental values around equality and human rights should be stopped from running free schools in Sweden,” Fridolin argued in an opinion piece published by Aftonbladet.

In his article, Fridolin said that no one should be forced to engage in any religious practice at any school, even those founded by religious organizations.

“No child should be exposed to direct or indirect compulsion to take part in religious activities in any school in Sweden,” Fridolin wrote. “And all education should be completely free of religious influence.”

Consequently, Sweden’s School Minister Anna Ekström and Public Administration Minister Ardalan Shekarabi confirmed that they want to “tear down the wall” they claimed ran through Swedish schools and increased segregation.

“We have seen cases of systematic gender segregation and opinions that do not belong in Swedish schools,” Ekström told Aftonbladet.

Shekarabi, who recalled his preschool experience in Tehran, Iran, stressed a worrying development in Sweden’s independent schools, which in many cases end up promoting oppression. Shekarabi argued the existing religious schools must be transformed into ordinary secular schools. How this will be done in practice is still subject to investigation…”

  8. Alleged EU Ultimatum for Non-Members: Take Your Refugees or Forget About Visas (sputniknews, Mar 13, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201803131062482559-migrants-eu-crisis-visas-ban-cooperation-repatriation/

“Amid the migrant crisis and growing spending on refugees, Brussels is going to press transit or countries of origin to take back failed asylum seekers, threatening them with travel limitations for insufficient cooperation.

The European Commission is set to propose a new legislation for non-members to make them take back those refugees, who didn’t receive asylum, according to the German outlet Die Welt. The change in the existing visa codex, which is slated to be published on March 14, will deny visas to citizens of countries, which fail to cooperate.

This introduces two-step measures: first, visas will be denied to elites, including diplomats and service passport holders for three months. Then, if this period isn’t enough to fix the disagreements, the restrictions will hit all citizens as the number of consulate services will be reduced, e.g. with fewer working hours.

??However, the legislation has a loophole for third countries stating that if they have “substantial problems” to ensure repatriation, e. g. with travel documents, fulfillment of agreement requirements and deportation flights, they can inform the EU.

Die Welt claims that the current restriction is based on the initiative of Germany’s Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière, who’s leaving the post in the new government. The pilot project of such a limitation for Bangladesh has proved to be successful, which has led the EU Commission to introduce the change.

Since 2015, Europe has been experiencing its worst migration crisis in recent history, struggling to accommodate hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers who fled from wars and humanitarian problems in Africa and the Middle East. This has led to growing spending by European governments as well as annoyance among the local populations.”

Pelosi-backed Democrat Conor Lamb looks to have broken federal law. The Western Journal has the story.

“A pro-Trump super PAC has filed a Federal Election Commission complaint against Pennsylvania U.S. House candidate Democrat Conor Lamb, alleging unlawful coordination between outside groups and his campaign.
    . . .

According to the complaint filed Monday by the Committee to Defend the President, Lamb unlawfully signed multiple emails for the liberal super PAC End Citizens United, which directed recipients to fundraising pages soliciting contributions that were not for his campaign committee. The scheme appears to violate FEC anti-coordination provisions between PACs and political campaigns, as well as election cycle limitations on contributions candidates can receive and disclaimer requirements. FEC rules provide that federal candidates can receive $2,700 for each primary election and general election cycle in 2018.

  12. France Reportedly Seizes Bashar Assad’s Uncle’s Property Worth 691 Million Euros (sputniknews, Mar 13, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201803131062480437-france-assad-uncle/

“An investigation into Rifaat Assad, the Syrian president’s uncle, has been underway since April 2016 following his alleged purchase of property worth $100 million, including a stud farm and luxury apartments. In June, French prosecutors charged him with corruption. Later, the property was seized.

French customs officials together with colleagues from Spain have confiscated property worth about 691 million euros, owned by Rifaat Assad — the uncle of the incumbent Syrian President Bashar Assad and his entourage, the newspaper Figaro reports.

According to the publication, the authorities seized more than 500 properties, including in the area of the resort town of Marbella in Spain, among them a mansion, country houses, apartments and a restaurant.

In 2017 French customs confiscated 862 million worth of criminal assets, including jewelry, cars, real estate and racehorses. It is noted that this was 477% more than in 2016.

Rifat Assad is the brother of Bashar Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad who served as Syrian president from 1971 to 2000. He was expelled from the country after an attempted coup in 1983. A preliminary inquiry into the case of the President of Syria’s uncle began in September 2013 after two French public organizations — Transparency International France and Sherpa — sued him in court. The object that initiated the litigation was the French property of a relative of the Syrian leader.”

  13. Volkswagen fired Samir B. (30) in November 2016 because he threatened work colleagues and probably wanted to travel to the ISIS area. The allegations against the assembly worker (3500 Euro monthly salary) weigh heavily:

The car giant feared that their employee could commit an attack on the factory premises in Wolfsburg. For example, at a works meeting, to which up to 10,000 workers come.

At the Hanover Regional Court, the Islamist pretended to be cool, just smiling wearily as the judge read out his case.

According to VW, the workers have always been more afraid of the radical colleague. Therefore, there was no alternative for the car maker to the termination.

The court considers the termination unjustified. VW had not been able to demonstrate how the company peace was specifically disturbed.

Meaning: If the Islamist gets the written verdict in about four weeks, VW must let him work again. Nevertheless, the car maker considers the termination justified, and will most likely go before the Federal Labor Court.

  14. BLACK OUT Vladimir Putin threatens to BAN all British media from operating in Russia if state broadcaster RT loses its UK licence over spy poison plot

Britain’s media regulator said Russia Today could lose its licence to broadcast in the UK if Moscow was found to be behind a brazen chemical attack on a former Russian double agent.

RUSSIA has threatened to ban British reporters from its country if its state broadcaster loses its UK licence as the row over the Salisbury spy poison attack intensifies.

It comes after Britain’s media regulator said Russia Today (RT) faces losing its licence to broadcast in the UK if Moscow was found to be behind the Salisbury chemical attack on a former Russian double agent.

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, was quoted by the state-run RIA news agency as saying: “Not a single British media outlet will work in our country if they shut down Russia Today (RT)”.

It is unclear whether the threat to ban British media will extend to World Cup coverage on television, radio and newspapers.

Meanwhile in a blunt warning to Prime Minister Theresa May’s government, Zakharova also said nobody should threaten a nuclear power, alluding to Russia.

Mrs May has said Moscow may have been behind the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the English city of Salisbury and has said it is ready to take tough action against Moscow.

But some British lawmakers have said Russia Today should be blocked after the poisoning.

The round-the-clock news network is funded by Vladimir Putin’s government to broadcast news with an edge for viewers who want to “question more”.

Meanwhile Ofcom, which enforces the broadcasting code in Britain, has said today any ruling that Russia had acted unlawfully against Britain over the poisoning would be taken into consideration when assessing the network.

The regulator said has an ongoing duty to check that holders of licences are “fit and proper”.

RT, which runs eight TV channels including RT UK broadcast from London, said it disagreed with the position taken by Ofcom.

“Our broadcasting has in no way changed this week from any other week and continues to adhere to all standards,” it said in a statement.

“By linking RT to unrelated matters, Ofcom is conflating its role as a broadcasting regulator with matters of state.”

Available in more than 100 countries, RT says it covers stories overlooked by the mainstream media and provides alternative perspectives on current affairs, including giving a Russian viewpoint.

May will brief parliament on the situation tomorrow and Ofcom said it would consider the implications for RT’s broadcast licences after that.

In a letter to ANO TV Novosti, the holder of RT’s UK broadcast licences, Ofcom said it would carry out an independent “fit and proper” assessment and would write to RT again shortly to set out the details of the process.

“This letter explained that, should the UK investigating authorities determine that there was an unlawful use of force by the Russian State against the UK, we would consider this relevant to our ongoing duty to be satisfied that RT is fit and proper,” Ofcom said.

  15. HAMBURG: “DEPORT, REMOVE!” – “ANTIFASCIST” VS MERKEL OPPONENTS

Merkel opponents and left-wing “anti-fascists” have been demonstrating in Hamburg for weeks. At the Dag-Hammarskjöld-Platz near the Dammtor-Bahnhof, 250 people met again last night with the slogan “Merkel has got to go”. Countering was Antifa with “Stand up against Nazis and racists!” with around 1,000 people. They see in the government-critical demonstration a march of right radicals and “fascists”.

Even the Federal Office for constitutional protection had issued a warning that right-wing extremists were at the rally of Merkel opponents. Although dissatisfied citizens would be in attendance, their statement also said that “the actual initiators according to findings of the constitutional protection,in some cases, lead to “right-wing extremist structures”. Hamburg Interior Senator Andy Grote of the SPD sees it in a similar vein: “Anyone who marches along or comes there must know that they are doing something in common with right-wing extremists.”

Among the approximately 1,000 counter-demonstrators, to whose political advance Grote did not speak, there were also pro-Kurdish demonstrators who had marched from the Mönckebergstraße to the demonstration at the Dammtor station. Their demo titled “Against the Turkish attacks in Afrin” was directed primarily against the Turkish military offensive in Syria and against Turkish “racism and fascism”. In addition, they turned against weapon deals of the Federal Government with Turkey. “No tank factory for Erdogan,” was seen on a poster. After the rally, several counter-demonstrators tried several times to get to Dammtor station to the Merkel opponents. The security forces successfully prevented this. The police were deployed with around 900 forces.

  16. The problem is that Pennsylvania also allows legal permanent (noncitizen) residents to get driver’s licenses after a year in the U.S….

Al Schmidt bristles at the description, often attributed to him, of noncitizen voters in Pennsylvania as a “glitch.”

Schmidt, a Philadelphia city commissioner who has been sounding the alarm since 2012 about noncitizens on the voting rolls, said the word, misattributed to him, would be accurate if ineligible voters managed to elude safeguards in the motor-voter law.

“That would be a glitch,” he told LifeZette. “In this case, it was never designed that way.”

Congress passed the Motor Voter law, formally known as the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, to encourage people to register to vote when they got their driver’s licenses. The problem, Schmidt said, is that Pennsylvania also allows legal permanent (noncitizen) residents to get driver’s licenses after a year in the United States.

Not a week goes by without police officers or the FBI arresting someone in the U.S. for Islamist-based terror plots or that a court finds guilty an ISIS sympathizer. Indeed, the FBI says at any time there are ongoing investigations in all 50 states.

Here are two such incidents from this week:

Utah Student Brings ISIS Flag, Bomb to School

First the student at Pine View High School in Saint George, Utah replaced the American flag with an ISIS flag. Then, just two weeks later, he set fire to pieces of paper in his backpack in a bid to detonate an explosive device that would have fired shrapnel in all directions.

The teenager is suspected of possession or use of a weapon of mass destruction, threat of terrorism, graffiti and abuse of a flag.
Alabama Man Pleads Guilty to Supporting ISIS

Aziz Ihab Sayyed, 23, of Huntsville, Alabama pleaded guilty this week to attempting to support ISIS. The crimes attributed to him include distributing ISIS propaganda, researching how to produce explosive materials, and meeting with an undercover agent posing as a member of ISIS to whom he offered to provide services and personnel.

By Clarion Project Tuesday, March 13, 2018

For years Clarion Project and others warned that the Iranian-backed terror organization Hezbollah poses a direct threat to the United States. Now experts gathered in Florida told a Congressional field hearing that Hezbollah has infiltrated large areas in South America, is working with drug cartels and poses a major threat to Florida and the U.S. in general.

“This hearing is about highlighting the importance of a stable Western Hemisphere and countering threats in our neighborhood,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) told the hearing in Pensacola.

Those addressing the gathering included narcotics and terror experts and representatives from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties.

“There is an exchange of tactics and procedures with narco terrorists,” said former U.S. special forces officer Joseph Callahan. He said Hezbollah works closely with the Los Zetas and Sinaloa cartels.

Last year Clarion reported that two terrorists belonging to Hezbollah were arrested for planning attacks in the U.S., with one scouting potential targets in New York including JFK International Airport.

  19. China promptly demonstrates why Trump is right to reject Broadcom takeover of Qualcomm
    By J.E. Dyer March 13, 2018

Two big reports are circulating on Monday, 12 March. One is that President Trump has just prohibited Singapore-based Broadcom, the computer chip giant, from a proposed takeover of San Diego’s Qualcomm, global leader in cellular communications technology.

The other is that the Xi Jinping regime in Beijing has just proposed a sweeping slate of bureaucratic reforms, which will consolidate the control of the Communist Party over huge and significant segments of the Chinese economy.

What does one have to do with the other? The answer lies in the connection between China’s regime, the People’s Liberation Army, and major Broadcom partner Huawei (here, here, here, here) – a Chinese rival to Qualcomm in cellular technology, and in the race to develop the “5G,” fifth-generation framework of wireless tech.

Regarding the significance of 5G, Gordon Chang explained in an opinion piece for Fox News on 2 March:

Turkey’s arrest on March 2 of two Greek soldiers on suspicion of espionage, after the pair entered a “prohibited military zone” along the border, should be cause for alarm in the West. When they were arrested – in the small space between Turkish and Greek guard posts — Angelos Mitretodis and Dimitris Kouklatzis explained that they had simply strayed by a few meters in the thick forest, due to the poor weather conditions. They had difficulty seeing where they were going, and so followed tracks in the snow.

Their lawyers’ plea for their release was rejected by a court in Edirne, on the grounds that “images were found in the cell phones of the soldiers, who intended to send the footage to their superiors.”

In Brussels, to urge European intervention on the matter, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos responded by saying that as member states of NATO, Turkey and Greece need to resolve the incident peacefully, “after negotiations between the two armed forces.” European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini expressed the EU’s “full hope that there will be a swift and positive outcome.”

The former chief of Greece’s armed forces, Manousos Paragioudakis, was less diplomatic. He accused Turkish special forces of “ambushing” the soldiers and called the arrests a “set-up.” Paragioudakis also stressed that patrols from both Turkey and Greece frequently cross each other’s borders unintentionally, but when this happens, the issue is “resolved on the spot,” through communication between Greek and Turkish commanders in the field. Until now, he said, there have been no arrests as a result of such incidents.

  24. The Era of “the Other”
Rewarding returning ISIS fighters – while imprisoning critics of Islam.
    March 13, 2018
    Bruce Bawer

In a recent article for the New Republic, Nell Irvin Painter, a retired Princeton historian whose work focuses largely on race, discussed “othering” – a concept that she explained with reference to Flannery O’Connor’s 1955 story “The Artificial Nigger”:

A white man, Mr. Head, and his grandson Nelson visit Atlanta for the day. Mr. Head, a poor and sad old man, undertakes to tutor Nelson in racial hierarchy. On the train to the city, a prosperous black man passes by. At first, Nelson sees “a man.” Then, under Mr. Head’s questioning, “a fat man…an old man.” These are wrong answers. Nelson must be educated. Mr. Head corrects him: “That was a nigger.” Nelson must undergo the process of unseeing a well-dressed man and reseeing a “nigger,” to understand the man as Other and himself and his uncle as people who belong to society.

This episode in O’Connor’s story does indeed capture a lamentable fact of mid twentieth-century life: back then, many Americans belonging to certain groups did view members of certain other groups primarily, or even exclusively, as members of those groups, and as their inferiors. Fortunately, this type of reflexive prejudice receded dramatically in the decades after O’Connor wrote her story. In no country in human history, in fact, have members of such a wide range of ethnic and religious groups succeeded in truly becoming a single people, viewing one another not as parts of an “Other” but as fellow and equal citizens – and as friends – as was the case in late twentieth-century America.

The origin story of the myth has appeared in a thousand media narratives. It was born in a media echo chamber in late July 2016 from overlapping stories in Politico, NBC News and Time Magazine. The stories all claimed that the Russian leader hated Hillary Clinton because she questioned his election results.

“When mass protests against Russian President Vladimir Putin erupted in Moscow in December 2011, Putin made clear who he thought was really behind them: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. With the protesters accusing Putin of having rigged recent elections, the Russian leader pointed an angry finger at Clinton, who had issued a statement sharply critical of the voting results,” Politico informed readers.

    It all fits very nearly.

Hillary Clinton criticized the Russian election. Vladimir Putin accused her of interfering with the election and so he decided to pay her back.

  27. The Ninth Circuit Strikes Again
Allows climate change constitutional case to proceed towards trial.
    March 13, 2018
    Joseph Klein

The wacky Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals has decided that climate change is a constitutional issue for the courts to decide. A three-judge panel rejected the Trump administration’s mandamus petition seeking early review of U.S. District Court Judge Ann Aiken’s 2016 denial of motions to dismiss a lawsuit originally filed against the United States, the president, and various executive branch officials and agencies. The environmental group Our Children’s Trust initiated the lawsuit in 2015 on behalf of 21 children, claiming the defendants were infringing on the constitutional rights of the plaintiffs and future generations by adopting policies that allegedly favored the fossil fuel industry to the detriment of a stable climate. Judge Aiken’s ruling, using words sounding more like a ruler than a judge interpreting the law as it exists, stated in justification of her decision not to summarily dismiss the complaint: “Exercising my ‘reasoned judgment,’ I have no doubt that the right to a climate system capable of sustaining human life is fundamental to a free and ordered society.” If only nature were subject to the rulings of activist U.S. district court and appeals court judges.

  28. Police Chaplain Was Suspended for Exposing Muslim UK Child Abuse
    March 13, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

The first rule of Muslim grooming gangs is that no one is allowed to mention them. Not even when they abuse 1,000 girls.

A pair of whistleblowers who raised fears over the Telford child sex abuse scandal which affected up to 1,000 girls were both punished and silenced, it emerged today.

The brutal sex gang targeted the innocent girls over a 40-year period in what may be Britain’s ‘worst ever’ child abuse scandal.

Girls in the town of Telford in Shropshire were drugged, beaten and raped at the hands of the violent groom gang which was active since the 1980s.

According to the Mirror, police chaplain Keith Osmund-Smith was suspended after he passed papers to the newspaper and a report commissioned by the council revealed social workers knew of the sex crimes before the turn of the millennium.

Meanwhile, a woman who was hired by sex abuse charity Axis Counselling, based in Shrewsbury, was forced to leave her role after she tried to speak up.

This is what the Immigration Firsters were covering up.

  29. “It’s All Israel’s Fault” 2.0
Conspiracy theories for those who need more than “grievances” to pin on Israel.
    March 13, 2018
    Raymond Ibrahim

One way or the other, Israel is to blame for all of the Middle East’s problems, claim many leading Muslims.

Consider the logic of the highly respected Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb—once voted the “most influential Muslim in the world”— as expressed during a televised interview. After claiming that “the genocides perpetrated by the Zionist entity” prompt aggrieved Muslims to turn to terrorism, he added:

[T]here would never have been any problem [had Israel not existed]. The Middle East and the region would have progressed, and the Arab individual would have been like any other person in the world, enjoying a good life, or at least enjoying the right to live in peace. However, this is… Allah willing, if we have time, I will explain how come this place was selected in the days of British colonialism, and how a most devious and malicious plot was hatched to plunge this dagger into the body of the Arab world, so that it would remain sick [emphasis added].

Thus, for those unconvinced by the “grievance” myth—that Israel “provokes” Muslims to resort to terrorism—Tayeb offers another angle: Israel itself is the creator and controller of Islamic terrorism. Continues the well-respected imam:

    • Israel is Islam’s whipping boy. Resolving the Arab–Israeli crisis is always set as a precondition before any further actions can be taken about dictatorships and corruption in the Muslim Middle East.

Of course, there is no way of resolving the Arab–Israeli crisis. It is designed to be a permanent festering sore of low-intensity war (i.e., terrorism). No one outside of Israel has the slightest desire to see this conflict end: Unless it involves genocide against the Jews, that is…

Israel and the Jews are the Muslim Middle East’s perpetual crutch and excuse for every last shortcoming they have. Only a severe beat-down of Islam will get Muslims to shut their gobs about Israel.

  30. Vienna knife attacker ‘clearly had sympathies with political Islam’, authorities say (thelocal, Mar 13, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.at/20180313/vienna-knife-attacker-had-islamist-sympathies

“The Austrian of Egyptian origin who was shot dead over the weekend after attacking a soldier with a knife outside the Iranian ambassador’s residence in Vienna had Islamist sympathies, authorities said Tuesday.

Preliminary indications suggest that the 26-year-old man “clearly had sympathies with political Islam”, Michaela Kardeis, head of public security, told a news conference in Vienna.

Material seized at his home would be further analysed in the coming days, Kardeis said, but for now there are no more details about the attacker’s background or possible motives.

The man attacked the soldier outside the Iranian envoy’s residence just before midnight (2300 GMT) on Sunday, stabbing him several times as they wrestled on the ground.

The soldier initially tried to use pepper spray to immobilise his attacker but later used his gun, firing at least four shots and killing the attacker at the scene, according to police.

The soldier escaped relatively unscathed, with a wound to his upper arm for which he was treated in hospital. He was also suffering from shock.

Police have ordered reinforcements around all diplomatic missions in the city.”

  31. Clapper Leaked Obama Dossier Briefing to CNN
    March 13, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

I don’t think anyone is too surprised.

Clapper ended up on CNN. And usually there’s some sort of preexisting relationship there. Government insiders cultivate media contacts. They build up a relationship by leaking the information they want out there. And there’s the understanding that when they leave the government, there might be some sort of expert or commentator slot available for them. Not always, but if they’re important enough.

And as Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper was certainly important.

  32. Norway’s justice minister causes anger with ‘rights of terrorists’ Facebook post aimed at rivals (thelocal, Mar 13, 2018)
    https://www.thelocal.no/20180313/norways-justice-minister-causes-controversy-with-terrorists-facebook-post-aimed-at-rivals

“Minister of Justice, Public Security and Immigration Sylvi Listhaug of the nationalist Progress Party has been criticised for claiming that the opposition Labour Party values “the rights of terrorists” above national security.

In a Facebook post last week, Listhaug wrote that Labour “thinks the rights of terrorists is more important than the nation’s security”.

The statement was posted as a graphic using an image of militants wearing face-covering black scarves.

Listhaug used the post to criticise a decision by Labour, led by Jonas Gahr Støre, to vote against a proposal enabling the Ministry of Justice to revoke the citizenship and passports of Norwegians accused of fighting for terrorist groups without any conviction being made against them.

“We want to revoke the passports and citizenship of foreign fighters and terrorists quickly and effectively! Labour wants to vote against. We cannot sit on our hands in the fight against terror!” the minister wrote in the post containing the graphic.

Støre reacted by condemning Listhaug’s message.

“The post was made the same day as the Utøya [2011 terrorist attacks committed by Anders Breivik, killing 69 members of Labour’s youth party, ed.] film was released at Norwegian cinemas. We have been victims of terror, and we are fighting against terror. For Listhaug to make such a claim so offensive and unfair is disappointing and unbefitting of a Norwegian justice minister,” the Labour leader told NRK.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg, after initially declining to comment, later criticised the post.

“I think that occasionally rhetoric overshadows content in politics, and that’s what I think happened in this case,” Solberg told NRK on Sunday.

“The use of the image, tone and attack on the Labour Party has taken focus off what is an important debate on how to fight terror,” the PM said.

But Solberg avoided saying she would ask Listhaug to remove the post.

Progress Party leader Siv Jensen, who is also finance minister, declined to comment on the controversial social media message…”

  34. Federal Judge Delaying Trial of Scandalous IT Man Imran Awan
One guess which president made this judicial appointment.
    March 13, 2018
    Lloyd Billingsley

?Last Thursday, March 8, Imran Awan was supposed to appear in federal court on bank fraud charges. The decision to push the case to May 4 left many wondering what, exactly, is going on with the Democrats’ favorite IT man. Quite a bit, as it turns out, and not just bank fraud.

As Frank Miniter noted in Forbes, Imran Awan was born in Pakistan and got a green card through the immigration lottery system, similar to Sayfullo Saipov, the Uzbeki terrorist who killed eight people in New York in October. Awan became a U.S. citizen in 2004 and earned an IT degree from Johns Hopkins. He did not work for any of the six officially vetted IT firms that perform work for congressional offices.

Even so, DNC boss Debbie Wasserman Schultz not only brought Awan aboard but hired his wife Hina Alvi and other family members, though none had degrees in information technology. Of all the IT people in all the companies in all the world, this was the squad the Democrats wanted.

The unvetted Awan enjoyed access to the computers of 45 members of Congress, including members the House Intelligence and Foreign Affairs committees, but as Andrew McCarthy noted, Awan could not possibly have qualified for a security clearance. Luke Rosiak of the Daily Caller found evidence that Imran Awan “was doing his job remotely from Pakistan.”

  35. Steele Sources Too Secret to Reveal to Congress, Not ABC News
    March 13, 2018
    Daniel Greenfi

In Jane Mayer’s New Yorker hagiography of Steele, the urine story came from multiple sources (none of whom were in the room at the time which tells you how worthless they are).

But David Corn and Michael Isikoff, who are even bigger insiders in Steeleworld than Mayer, have their own version of the story. Corn was the first guy on the ground and the FBI had used Isikoff’s version of Steele’s material to corroborate Steele’s account (it’s the old GIGO principle) to spy on Trump associates.

Here’s their version of the story.

  36. German police carry out nationwide raids on Turkish nationalist boxing club (DW, Mar 13, 2018)
    http://www.dw.com/en/german-police-carry-out-nationwide-raids-on-turkish-nationalist-boxing-club/a-42965187

“Hundreds of police officers have taken part in raids across Germany targeting the Osmanen Germania boxing club. Officials say the group is involved in violent crime and has ties to Turkish President Erdogan’s government.

German authorities seized data storage devices, narcotic drugs and weapons in nationwide raids on Tuesday against members of the Osmanen Germania boxing gang.

More than 1,000 police officers searched over 60 properties in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Baden-Württemberg and Hesse.

The Interior Ministry orchestrated the raids, suspecting the Osmanen Germania — officially registered as a boxing club — of orchestrating illegal activities.

“Today’s measures show that the federal and state governments will not tolerate criminal activity, regardless of social background,” said outgoing Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere…”
