  1. ‘Cubs of Caliphate’: France to reintegrate ISIS children returning from Syria & Iraq

France has laid out a new plan to reintegrate jihadist children returning from Syria and Iraq. Despite concerns still hanging over the danger they could pose to society the focus has now shifted from one of isolating them from other children for now to a more integrated approach

    • Yucki you are right, this is a culling of the herd, those incapable of rational thought are being eliminated from the human race.

  2. ‘Freedom fighters’ on a wage: Pentagon requests $30mn salary budget for Syrian rebels

Ten thousand Syrian rebels are on the Pentagon’s payroll. That revelation coming from a US Defense Department budget request. Washington now hopes to increase that number to 65 thousand, despite the crushing failure of a previous train-and-equip programme.

Arab foreign ministers affirmed that Jerusalem must be the capital of a future Palestine state during a meeting following the inauguration of the 149th Session of the Arab League in Cairo on Wednesday.

Such negotiations will have a specific time frame for the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital,” stated Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-sentences-woman-24-months-removing-headscarf-53584882

“A Tehran prosecutor says a woman who removed her obligatory Islamic headscarf in public in late December has been sentenced to 24 months in prison.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency on Wednesday quoted prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi as saying the unidentified woman took off her headscarf in Tehran’s Enghelab Street to “encourage corruption through the removal of the hijab in public.”

In February, police detained 29 women who removed their headscarves as part of an anti-hijab campaign known as “White Wednesdays.”

The police say the campaign, advocated by Farsi-language satellite TV networks based abroad, purportedly encourages women participants to take their white headscarves off on Wednesdays.

Women showing their hair in public in Iran are usually sentenced to far shorter terms of two months or less, and fined $25.”

  5. Italy stems immigration, short on aiding indebted sex slaves (abcnews, Mar 7, 2018)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/italy-stems-immigration-short-aiding-indebted-sex-slaves-53579920

“Precious survived a trip across North Africa and two sinking boats before making it to Italy, only to be confronted with the reality facing young Nigerian migrants like her: A “madam” gave her condoms, pantyhose and a G-string, and put her to work.

“I had a mattress. It was in the bush,” Precious told The Associated Press recently, her face hidden to hide her identity. “If a white man came who said he wasn’t going to have sex inside his car, I would take him to my bed.”

Nigerian teenagers and young women selling sex is a common sight for motorists in Italy. Working along roadsides and secondary highways in cities big and small, they are a haunting reminder that while Italy has been successful in curbing immigration from Libya, it has largely failed to help a fraction of the migrants trafficked as sex slaves.

Between 10,000 and 30,000 Nigerian prostitutes are estimated to be walking Italian streets, often to pay off the debts they incurred to get there. Government figures show 1,172 trafficked people were rescued and given special protection in 2016, about 700 of them Nigerian women and girls. More than 100 were minors, like Precious.

She was 17 years old when she was found off Libya’s coast with a boatload of other migrants and brought to Italy. After Nigerian traffickers put Precious on a train to Turin, the Nigerian “madam” who met her in the northern city sat the girl down and explained her new life:

“You don’t have any choice. This is what is going on, this is how it is going to be,” Precious, a nickname she uses, recalled. “You need to prostitute.”

The reason? She had to pay off the 20,000-euro debt her traffickers said she had acquired, one customer at a time.

The Italian government has tripled its funding to help trafficked girls get off the streets, from 8 million euros in 2015 to 22.5 million in 2017. The government’s equal opportunities office says most of the money has gone to providing more beds in safe houses for trafficked women and girls who want to escape life on the streets.

But advocates say there is no coordinated response or strategy, and not enough beds to go around. The rescued women can’t be housed in regular migrant shelters because their pimps will come for them. In fact, many girls still on the streets actually live in migrant shelters, where their traffickers can operate with impunity, said David Mancini, assistant prosecutor in l’Aquila.

“The traffickers work inside the centers, recruiting and running their business,” he said. “The girls leave in the morning and come back at night. It’s a pressing issue and we don’t have any way to prevent this exploitation.”

Increasingly, the Nigerian migrants being forced into prostitution are minors, some as young as 13, according to the International Organization for Migration’s 2017 report on human trafficking.

“Their young age doesn’t allow them to understand the true risk that they are facing,” said Oliviero Forti, migrant policy director for the Caritas Catholic charity, which is among dozens of groups providing a patchwork of help for trafficked women and girls.

Recent arrivals to Italy are coerced into prostitution “under threats, violence, abuses perpetrated by the traffickers, a form of true slavery,” Forti said.

Some threats take the form of a ritual voodoo ceremony called “juju,” performed in Nigeria before women depart north: they are told they are under a spell and will be curse, if they don’t pay off their debts.

Queensy, 22, recalled being taken to a shaman before she left Nigeria. He gave her a piece of a rooster’s heart to eat and took samples of her pubic hair and nails. The shaman warned that if she didn’t repay what she owed, harm would come to her family, she would be unable to bear children and she could die.

What no one told her was that she would need to sell sex to satisfy that debt. Instead, Queensy — a nickname she uses — was told she could work as a maid or nanny.

“When I get to the street and was there, I was very, very angry and I am crying because I don’t know, I am very small,” Queensy told the AP. “What will I tell my parents? What will I tell my mother?”

She said her “madam” told her that if she refused to work the streets, she would be taken to the police, who would deport her back to Nigeria.

Deputy Police Chief Mariapia Marinelli, the Italian national police’s trafficking expert, said the girls believe the threats, though many would actually qualify for legal protection in Italy, especially if they are minors.

“These voodoo rites create a sort of essential link to those who then traffic them,” Marinelli told the AP.

Police work to try to break up what they consider to be a “transnational criminal organization” that includes cells of Nigerians in Italy, but with limited success.

In some parts of the country, including around Naples, Nigerian criminals have sought protection from the Italian mafia to be able to conduct their business on mob-run territory. Italy’s National Anti-Mafia Investigative Group reported in 2017 that Nigerian gangs reach agreements with Sicilian criminal groups to “obtain protection or at least approval to carry out their exploitation in the form of prostitution.”

In the case of Precious, police picked her up on the street near Turin in the spring of last year. She had spent about seven months working, servicing as many as 10 men a day. She was afraid of being sent back to Nigeria, but at that point “going back to Nigeria is even better than prostituting every day.”

Eventually, Precious was placed in the care of an aid group that places trafficked Nigerian girls and women in protective shelters. She lives now in a safe house near Rome and works with elderly people in a paid internship.

“I can say I am free now. I am free,” Precious said.

But she is one of the lucky few.

On a cold February morning, Julia was at work along a road near Rome. The 25-year-old Nigerian woman said she gets 10 euros for each sex act she performs, but clients have been less frequent lately.

“Just three a day. Thirty euros is not enough,” she said. Julia said she wants to escape but doesn’t know how.

The Italian government says the number of callers to a hotline for trafficked women has gone up dramatically during the past two years.

The number, though, can’t accept calls from cellphones on the Nigerian Lycamobile mobile network. That’s the phone service most Nigerian women in Italy use.

“I thought I would be a babysitter or waitress,” Julia said from her plastic chair on the roadside. “How can I change this?””

  9. Wild boar sneaks into mosque, injures man in Malaysia

The residents of Sungai Buloh, Selangor were greeted with an unwelcome guest when a wild boar sneaked into the neighborhood’s mosque on Tuesday night.

A mosque-goer was injured by the wild boar amidst the ruckus at Masjid Jamek Sungai Plong.

The mosque’s imam Ungku Ahmad Hazwan Ungku Kamarudin said that the incident happened as worshippers were performing additional prayers after Maghrib prayers.

“Our mosque was visited by a male wild boar who had gotten lost in the mosque’s grounds. It subsequently started chasing mosque-goers and children in the grounds. It then went into the mosque and we could see that it had hurt its neck.

Ungku Ahmad Hazwan added that the wild boar also hit two motorcycles in the grounds of the mosque before being shot by a member of the mosque with a shotgun.

“The Sungai Plong police station was also contacted to help diffuse the situation,” he added.

A spokesperson at the Sungai Plong police station confirmed the incident.

Ungku Ahmad Hazwan said that three quarters of the hall and veranda of the mosque were affected by the incident.

The mosque’s management has contacted the Selangor Mufti’s Office (JMNS) to help handle the issue.

“JMNS will come by to do an evaluation on proper cleaning (sertu) of the mosque.

“Right now, the prayers in the mosque are being carried out as usual at the part of that was not affected,” he said.

      Talk about a crashing boar!

    • A civil war is turning kinetic. that is what is going on. The left knows that unless it can shut up people like Professor Peterson they have lost and will become a fringe political ideology for many long decades. Violence it their last resort.

      • Violence is their last resort.

In this respect, the Left is like Islam. When you clear away all of the cheap devices and fake instruments, at the bottom of the toolbox is just one lonely thing rattling around as always, violence.

It is almost paradoxical that the Progressive Left has anything in common with Islam. Yet, this connection goes further in how both sides believe that violent coercion can change a person’s mind and belief structure. Even stranger is that both parties are perfectly happy to accept coerced believers.

There is a level of smug, self-satisfaction, underlying this that bespeaks unexamined beliefs. It arises from the transmission of orthodoxy without any explanation or articulation. This is “blind faith” operating on a massive scale and it poses all of the attendant perils (both Liberal and Islamic).

        • They don’t really care about making believers as long as they can force you to act as if you believe. Of course if you start acting as if you believe it won’t be long before you start to believe and the next generation will be even more devote.

          • That’s the real danger: the kids of the previous hard-working immigrant laborers.
That accounts for a huge cohort of alienated citizens. They’ve got delusions of supermacy that don’t comport with reality. With funding and incitement from abroad – presto! – they’re “radicalized”.

They’re Germans, or whatever, but they’re enemy. Now what?

  13. Kim Jong-un’s Peace Gambit
Why any dialogue with the North Korean regime must be pursued with caution.
    March 7, 2018
    Joseph Klein

It appears that the outreach to South Korea by North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, which began in the lead-up to and during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, did not end with the Olympics closing ceremony. Kim Jong-un has just hosted talks with a high-level delegation from South Korea, led by its national security director Chung Eui-yong. The South Korean delegation came away believing that these talks have borne some fruit. A possible summit meeting between Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in was discussed, which could occur in late April at the so-called Peace House, which is located on the South Korean side of Panmunjom in the demilitarized zone. In the meantime, the two Koreas have reportedly agreed to set up a telephone hotline between the leaders of both countries.

The South Koreans also indicated that North Korea would agree to halt tests of its nuclear weapons and missiles in conjunction with opening talks with the United States on the denuclearization issue. According to Chung Eui-yong, the North Koreans are looking for a credible security guarantee and the end to military threats against it, in which case they believed they would not need to keep their nuclear arsenal. He claimed that North Korea was interested “in an open-ended dialogue to discuss the issue of denuclearization and to normalize relations with North Korea.” Notably, Kim Jong-un is said to have withdrawn, at least for now, his insistence that the United States and South Korea suspend their joint military exercises as a precondition to any negotiations. “Kim Jong-un simply said he could understand why the joint exercises must resume in April on the same scale as before,” Mr. Chung declared. “But he said he expected them to be readjusted if the situation on the Korean Peninsula stabilizes in the future.”

This week, a major news story broke. A 2-year-old girl was photographed looking at a really terrible painting of Michelle Obama.

“‘A moment of awe’: Photo of little girl captivated by Michelle Obama portrait goes viral,” the Washington Post cheered. “Little girl awestruck by Michelle Obama’s portrait believes she’s a queen,” urgently reported CNN. The sum total of this story is that a little girl looked at a portrait of Michelle.

Eat your heart out, North Korea. Our fake news propaganda is even tackier than yours.

Recently, a photo was released of Barack Obama meeting with Louis Farrakhan. The photo had been suppressed all these years to protect Obama’s career. Farrakhan was the racist leader of a hate group who had praised Hitler and described Jews as “satanic”. And yet he had met with the future president at a Congressional Black Caucus event. A CBC member, Rep. Danny Davis, had even praised Farrakhan.

You might think there’s a story in all that. And you would be wrong.
