  1. Israel-US Unity At The White House
Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu provides a refreshing contrast to the Obama years.
    March 6, 2018
    Joseph Klein

President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at the White House on Monday. It was their fifth meeting since President Trump took office. Both men exclaimed that the relationship between the United States and Israel has never been closer.

The president immediately made some news by declaring that he might visit Israel in May for the opening of a new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem. “We’re going to have it built very quickly,” President Trump said. “We’re looking at coming. If I can, I will.” The prime minister in turn praised President Trump for his bold decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, comparing him to leaders in the past who have helped the Jewish people to return to their historic homeland, and to President Harry Truman who quickly recognized the Jewish state of Israel after it declared its independence. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “We remember how a few weeks ago President Donald J. Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Mr. President, this will be remembered by our people through the ages. As you just said, others talked about it. You did it.”

Needless to say, the Palestinians had the opposite reaction to President Trump’s Jerusalem decision. Nevertheless, President Trump expressed the belief that the Palestinians want to return to the negotiating table “very badly.” When asked what would happen if the Palestinians did not come back to the negotiating table, President Trump warned that “if they don’t come back there won’t be peace.”

  2. How the ADL Used Fake Stats to Minimize Islamic Terror
Exposing the fake extremist violence statistics in its latest report.
    March 6, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Fake extremism statistics are big business. Just like those shoddy research studies which warn that drinking a glass of wine can kill you or make you immortal, they exist to be broadcast by the media.

Last year, the Southern Poverty Law Center faked a three-fold increase in “hate groups” by switching from listing one organization it had been smearing to listing 45 of its chapters separately. This year, SAALT listed multiple Muslim hate crime hoaxes in its report claiming that such crimes had increased.

The media uncritically reported their claims. Now it’s pushing more bad numbers from the ADL.

“White supremacists responsible for most extremist killings in 2017, ADL says,” CNN reports. “Murders By U.S. White Supremacists More Than Doubled In 2017, New Report Shows,” the Huffington Post claims. “Murders by white supremacists in US more than doubled in 2017,” The Independent details.

“White Supremacists Killed 18 People in 2017, Double the Number From 2016,” Newsweek alleges.

  3. Farrakhan Speech: ‘Jews Are My Enemy,’ ‘White Folks Are Going Down’
“Jews were responsible for all of this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out.”
    March 6, 2018
    Mark Tapson

With the leftist media entirely focused on the push to ban AR-15s and repeal the Second Amendment, practically no one noticed Louis Farrakhan’s Saviours’ Day 2018 Address in which he told an approving audience that “powerful Jews are my enemy,” and “white folks are going down,” according to The Washington Examiner.

Farrakhan, of course, is the raging anti-Semite and race-monger who leads the Nation of Islam, the loony, militant, black nationalist organization whose mission is to throw off the yoke of the inferior white devil. This is the same Farrakhan with whom then-Sen. Barack Obama took a photo at a 2005 Congressional Black Caucus meeting, a photo that was subsequently suppressed in order to protect Obama’s political future.

“Jews were responsible for all of this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out, turning men into women and women into men,” Farrakhan said in his keynote speech. “White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled a cover off of that Satanic Jew, and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”

  4. Steele Claims He Had No Idea Who Clinton Memo Source Was
    March 6, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

I covered some of the New Yorker’s whitewash of Christopher Steele, the man behind the Clinton-Steele dossier, already.

Here’s how it tries to disassociate Steele from the Shearer memo that he passed along. The issue here is that Steele passed along materials from Cody Shearer, one of Bill Clinton’s plumbers, to the FBI confirming his own claims. It raised serious questions among many, including myself, whether Shearer hadn’t originated the whole dossier.

    Now here’s the whitewash.

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/269513/steele-claims-he-had-no-idea-who-clinton-memo-daniel-greenfield

    • This makes one wonder what it would take for the Left to admit that Goldilocks did not actually sleep in a bear’s bed except for in the fairy tale. The National Public Interview encourages the author of the New Yorker article to laud Mr. Steele as an expert in espionage.
      https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/12/christopher-steele-the-man-behind-the-trump-dossier
https://www.wnyc.org/story/journalist-charts-the-bizarre-twists-and-turns-of-the-trump-russia-dossier (NPR today) NPR has not detailed the contents of the dossier because it remains unverified, but journalist Jane Mayer has written a cover story about its origins for The New Yorker. Although Trump and his allies have sought to portray the 35-page dossier as Democratic-funded propaganda, the work that led to its creation initially started with Republicans themselves.

A GOP financier approached the private intelligence firm Fusion GPS to begin work researching Trump, but then discontinued that support. Later, after it was clear that Trump would be the Republican nominee, a law firm connected to the Clinton campaign began funding the work. Mayer says that Steele never knew precisely for whom he was ultimately working.

      • The NPR interview lashes out at Mr. Trump for his “grab” quotes. Here’s something more bawdy and less concise from another statesman.

    • Well-done research corroborates information BEFORE charging customers for it. The Meyer interview (prev link) mentions that Steele has worked with the FBI in the past — what does that mean? Who vetted him and his first-degree relatives, bank accounts, finances, and vulnerability to blackmail? Who tracks his relationships with the Russian sources he claims? Meyer says that Kerry sat on the Steele information because it was too political to release — that’s consistent with Kerry’s personality?

http://www.businessinsider.com/christopher-steele-bio-trump-russia-dossier-author-spy-2018-2 While the explosive claims about Trump’s collusion with Russia that Steele makes in his dossier have yet to be independently corroborated, little by little, investigators are confirming bits and pieces of the document. Now, a second dossier has emerged that reportedly came to many of the same conclusions Steele did.

      • He wasn’t the one that needed vetting, his sources were the ones that needed to be vetted.

        • I disagree. A contractor needs to be vetted to prevent conflict of interest. This happens before we vet the information.

  5. National Lawyers Guild: Freedom of Speech Only Protects Inoffensive Speech
    March 6, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

A brief guide to freedom of speech according to the left.

    Criticism of Bush/Trump = Patriotism

    Criticism of Obama = Racism

    Piss Christ = Art

    Mohammed Cartoon = Hate crime

Speech that offends conservatives = protected by the Bill of Rights

Speech that offends leftists = a violent attack on our existence that must be violently stamped out

And now here’s a little more of that civil rights mask coming off.

Christina Hoff Sommers tried to speak at a Portland law school and was shut down by the usual diversity Nazis. Before she arrived, the usual campus groups signed a letter declaring that she had no right to speak because her ideas were offensive. (And this is at a law school.) Beyond the usual campus identity politics suspects, the local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild also signed on.

  6. Steele’s Ridiculous Romney-Russia Memo
    March 6, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

More from Jane Mayer’s ridiculous Christopher Steele article. This is the tidbit that’s getting a good deal of play in the media.

One subject that Steele is believed to have discussed with Mueller’s investigators is a memo that he wrote in late November, 2016, after his contract with Fusion had ended. This memo, which did not surface publicly with the others, is shorter than the rest, and is based on one source, described as “a senior Russian official.” The official said that he was merely relaying talk circulating in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but what he’d heard was astonishing: people were saying that the Kremlin had intervened to block Trump’s initial choice for Secretary of State, Mitt Romney. (During Romney’s run for the White House in 2012, he was notably hawkish on Russia, calling it the single greatest threat to the U.S.) The memo said that the Kremlin, through unspecified channels, had asked Trump to appoint someone who would be prepared to lift Ukraine-related sanctions, and who would coöperate on security issues of interest to Russia, such as the conflict in Syria. If what the source heard was true, then a foreign power was exercising pivotal influence over U.S. foreign policy—and an incoming President.

As fantastical as the memo sounds, subsequent events could be said to support it. In a humiliating public spectacle, Trump dangled the post before Romney until early December, then rejected him

    Now note the timing.

  7. School Shooter Will Fight for Gun Control
    March 5, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

When it comes to gun control, go to the experts. Not the police or the teachers, the shooters. And the school shooters are all for gun control.

In 2004, Jon Romano walked into his upstate-New York high school with a shotgun and opened fire.

The then-16-year-old shot a teacher while being tackled by Columbia High School assistant principal John Sawchuk. There were no fatalities in the incident, and Romano is currently serving a 20-year sentence.

Now, Romano would like you to know that once he gets out, he’s going to “advocate for gun safety and mental health reform after my release in 2021.”

“I believe the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL are courageous and inspiring for speaking out and demanding action from politicians,” he wrote.

“Everyone nationwide should follow and accept nothing less than meaningful, life-saving policy changes from their representatives,” Romano wrote. “Only then could this generation be the last generation that lives in a nation plagued by gun violence.”

In other news, the Son of Sam will work to do something about all those talking dogs urging innocent people to kill.

  8. How Many Lives Are Saved by Guns – and Why Don’t Gun Controllers Care?
Lost in the current debate about gun control are three important points.
    March 6, 2018
    Larry Elder

Lost in the current debate about gun control are three important points.

First, how many lives are saved each year through the use of firearms. We know that for the last several years, according to the Centers for Disease Control (which tracks all U.S. deaths by cause), roughly 11,000 lives have been lost through non-suicide deaths involving a firearm each year.

    Why ignore gun suicides?

Following the 1994 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act’s imposition of a five-day waiting period for the 32 states previously not subject to such waiting periods, gun control supporters expected those states would have seen a reduction in crime, compared with the other 18 “control” states. But according to The Journal of the American Medical Association: “Our analyses provide no evidence that implementation of the Brady Act was associated with a reduction in homicide rates. … We find no differences in homicide or firearm homicide rates to adult victims in the 32 states directly subject to the Brady Act provisions compared with the remaining control states.” The study did find a decrease in gun suicides for men over 55. But the overall suicide rate remained unchanged. Men over 55 simply resorted to other means to kill themselves.

  9. Civilisations: Culturally Relativist ‘Big Money’ BBC Remake of Landmark Classic Is ‘Messy Failure’ (breitbart, Mar 6, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/06/civilisations-relativist-big-money-bbc-remake-messy-failure/

“The BBC’s “well-funded” attempt to update and remake of one of their own best-regarded ever productions has backfired, with the first episodes of Civilisations being panned by critics — including the BBC’s own arts editor who dismissed it as a “tepid dish of the blindingly obvious”.

Self-described as a “new landmark series” by the BBC in a clear attempt to cling to the glory of BBC 2’s 1969 Civilisation: A Personal View — one of the first British documentaries to be shot in colour and a major cultural event of the time — the new Civilisations has been attacked by disappointed critics including the BBC’s own Will Gompertz.

Gompertz, The BBC arts editor castigated the new series as a “confused and confusing” documentary “designed by committee”, which despite having had cash lavished upon it and a high level of technical accomplishment in camera work and location shoots, failed to present nuance or a coherent argument.

While the original Civilisation was an epic tale of the Christian roots of Western civilisation — and so was, according to Gompertz, an “old-fashioned, patriarchal, white, western, male view of human cultures and creativity” — Civilisations has differentiated itself by adding a singular ‘S’ to the title and so embarked upon an appraisal of all human art, and treating all as equal.

Criticising the series for being in hock to the progressive imperative to bow to cultural relativism, The Times’s review calls Civilisations a “ghastly progressive sports day where all must have prizes”.

The new series comes in contrast to the distinct vision of the creator of the original Kenneth Clark — made Lord Clark in later life for his services to art history — who said “it may be difficult to define civilisation, but it isn’t so difficult to recognise barbarism”.

Also coming in for criticism was the BBC’s approach to beauty, The Times reporting: “In the second episode, the Ancient Greeks get a stern dressing down from Mary Beard because their ideal of beauty (which Clark reckoned was “the most extraordinary creation in the whole of history”) discriminates against fat people. I’m not making this up.”

The criticism comes in stark contrast to the original series — recently remastered from the original film prints into high definition — which Gompertz noted had “a clarity, structure, and coherent argument that made them fascinating to watch and easy to follow”. The BBC’s Civilisations, instead, had made a bid to be more accessible and relevant to a modern audience — dumbing down — and in doing so rendered itself redundant.

As The Times’ James Marriott observed: “[Lord Clark] treated his viewers like intelligent people and told them what he thought. He didn’t think the secrets of culture needed to be hidden away lest they got into the wrong hands. Clark’s show is the most egalitarian telly ever made… To watch Civilisation is to be filled with joy and pride to be a member of that much-maligned species Homo sapiens. To watch Civilisations is to feel confused and a bit irritated.””

  14. Chelsea Says Clintons Have Trouble Coping w/ Trump Presidency

(Ana Michaels, Liberty Headlines) Chelsea Clinton went on Stephen Colbert’s “Late Night” show on Monday, where the former First Daughter took pot shots at President Donald Trump.

Colbert immediately tried to get Chelsea angry and rant on camera.

For the most part, Clinton stayed calm and stuck to a “resistance”-style narrative.

“Now, your family has a particularly unique relationship emotionally to the fact that Donald Trump is president of the United States,” Colbert said.

“Stephen, I think that a lot of us have pretty unique emotional relationships to the fact that Donald Trump is president,” Clinton replied.

Colbert egged her on, asking what the Clinton family does to “cope” with Trump being president, saying that he had his own way but “gave up liquor for Lent.”

  15. Dem Lawmakers Get “Offended” By The Real FACTS Of The Gun Debate

A Republican lawmaker in the Virginia House of Delegates apparently left his Democratic colleagues deeply offended—after he brought up facts during a gun control debate.

During an impassioned speech on the House floor, Del. Nick Freitas set the record straight about gun violence. Freitas claimed that, since Democrats wanted an “open and honest debate” gun laws, it should rely on “data, facts, evidence, analysis, reason, logic, etc., etc.”

And Freitas was happy to deliver, even as his offended Democratic colleagues walked out in protest.

“I think if we were going to look seriously at school shootings and gun control, we would analyze things like: Why do all mass shootings seem to take place in gun free zones? Wouldn’t it be reasonable to test whether or not the efficacy of gun-free zones have actually achieved what they’re intended intent is?” Freitas asked.

He added that, since “most of the shooters come from broken homes,” a debate should ask questions like: “What sort of government policies have actually encouraged broken homes? You can look at Left-leaning think tanks like the Brookings Institute, that will actually say that some of it can be attributed to various cultural change that happened in the 60s to include the abortion industry. You can look at a more conservative-leaning organizations that will say that the welfare state contributes significantly to dismantling the family as families became more and more dependent upon the government than they were mothers and fathers in the home raising children.”
