“Somalia’s Islamist group al Shabaab set off a suicide car bomb at a security checkpoint about 15 km (nine miles) outside the capital Mogadishu on Thursday, the group’s spokesman and a police official told Reuters.

The blast has caused casualties, police officer Major Abdullahi Nur said without elaborating on their severity.

A witness Mohamed Farah, who lives in an area near the blast, told Reuters he heard a huge explosion, gunfire and then saw large clouds of smoke rise up from the scene of the attack.

Nur said many vehicles were parked at the Sinka Dheer checkpoint for inspection when the blast occurred…”

  3. THE UNSTOPPABLE BOMB Putin boasts Russia has developed an intercontinental nuclear missile that can’t be stopped or shot down by any country’s defence system

Vladimir Putin said the rocket travels 20 times the speed of sound and has unlimited range

VLADIMIR Putin says Russia is developing an “unstoppable” nuclear cruise missile which cannot be intercepted by any anti-missile system on earth.

The newly developed intercontinental ballistic rocket with “unlimited range” was one of several unveiled by the Russian leader in his state of the nation address in Moscow

They include a nuclear-powered cruise missile, a nuclear-powered underwater drone and new hypersonic missile which apparently have no equivalent.

Footage shown during his speech apparently showed the new “unstoppable” missile heading toward the United States as he promises to “neutralise” America’s missile defence.

“Russia remained a nuclear power but no one wanted to listen to us,” Putin, 65, told lawmakers. “Listen to us now.”

He said the hypersonic intercontinental rocket, known as the Avangard, is capable of travelling 20 times the speed of sound and strike “like a meteorite, like a fireball”.

    • Russia: ‘It meets the target like a fireball’ – Putin praises new ‘Avangard’ missile unit

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a new weapon ‘Avangard’, describing it by saying “it meets the target like a meteor, like a fireball”, during his Annual Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly in Moscow on Thursday.

“This one differs with its ability to fly in dense layers of the atmosphere, in intercontinental range and at hypersonic speed. The use of new composite materials has made it possible to solve the problem of a long-term controlled flight of the winged block practically under conditions of plasma formation,” Putin said.

“Due to obvious reasons, we cannot show the real image, the real appearance of the unit. Even this is of serious importance. I think it is clear for everybody. But I assure you, we have all of this in stock and all of it works well,” he added.

    • Russia: Russia’s new hypersonic Sarmat ICBM has begun active testing – Putin

SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Russian): “Currently the Ministry of Defence and the enterprises of the rocket and space industry began the active phase of the tests of the new missile complex carrying heavy ICBM. We named it Sarmat. This complex will replace the Voevoda complex which was created in Soviet Union. Everyone always acknowledged his high combat power. As you know our foreign colleagues even gave it a rather threatening name. But the capabilities of the Sarmat missile is far higher. At a weight of over 200 tones it has a short active part of the flight which makes it’s interception with missile defence systems difficult. The range of the missile, the quantity and the power of the combat parts is higher than Voevoda has. Sarmat will be equipped with a wide range of nuclear munition of high power, including hypersonic munition and the most modern systems of missile defence overcoming. High characteristics of the launching pads security and high energy capabilities will make the use of this complex in any conditions. Video please.

SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Russian): “Voevoda has the range limit of 11,000 kilometres, and the new system practically has no range limits. As you can see in the video it is capable of attacking the targets both through the North and through the South poles. Sarmat is very formidable weapon. According to its characteristics there are no such missile defence, even a perspective one, that can be an obstacle to it.

        • Uncle Vlad wants to change the subject.
It’s too cold for him to go horseback riding half-naked, always popular. So he’s showing videos from games, calling them “active tests”. All this foolishness for domestic consumption.

      • Anybody believe this stuff?
He’s throwing leftover, Soviet-era junk -almost at random- over Syria. It still kills, but it’s not attracting contracts with India or anywhere else.

The Saudis apparently signed a MOU for big purchase, but it was more for “goodwill” than for quality hardware. They also arrested a couple of princes on Uncle Vlad’s blacklist. A nice gesture. Friendly-like.

        • As long as it is for home defense and not heavy combat (although some would still be good for that) WWII weapons in good shape work quite well.

Everybody please stay calm. Back in 1970 NASA Ames was working on the “Ames M-50 Wind Tunnel”. For any doubters, the “M” in M-50, stands for “Mach”.

The problem with that (otherwise brilliant) design was while undergoing airflow velocities approaching Mach 50, Venturi and Bernoulli effects produced by a model’s leading edge and lift surfaces tend to cause energy loss and, therefore, refrigeration of the helium gas.

This would cause liquification of the ambient helium flow (something that normally occurs at ?269 °C). It gives you an idea of the energy transitions needed to create a Mach 50 wind tunnel. This also explains why NASA Ames used a Cray II supercomputer for its second generation, high-area (think B-52) surface modeling program.

As a brief explanation, second only to hydrogen, helium is the most “slippery” gas—being one of very smallest atomic diameters, and additionally blessed with chemically inert properties—that is useful in pressure and vacuum integrity testing of reactor containment systems.

The Ames M-50 Wind Tunnel used helium for the specific purpose of obtaining much higher wind flows from a less dense gas (compared to Earth’s thick nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere). In fact, the Ames M-50 never reached Mach 50 due to complications of having to run the inrush of helium gas over heated surfaces to prevent the aforementioned liquification issue.

All the same, America was doing near-Mach 50 wind tunnel research some FIFTY YEARS before many opponents were even dreaming of this. Now, go ahead and tell me that the USA doesn’t have a Hypersonic Cruise Missile: America’s New Global Strike Weapon in the development process.

Yeah, the tungsten rods are true.

For less fun: Could the Pentagon’s hypersonic missiles trigger World War 3?

      • So, are we back to the Sprint/ Spartan ABM with nuclear warheads to bath the oncoming Russkie nukes with neutron radiation? We may not be able to hit the thing with KE kill vehicles but we can use a W66 enhanced radiation warhead. Back to the Future!

        • Depends on the target in the 80s there was talk about giving the kinetic kill weapons some guidence and a small computer brain to let them go after specific types of targets, Missile Launchers, Tanks, Self Propelled guns, various types of ships etc. We don’t know how sophisticated the weapons are or will become over the next few months to years.

I don’t care what you call them these are the new wonder weapon, I was watching an interview with Jerry Pournelle (the man who came up with the idea for the weapon in the 70s while he was still working on things like that) (He switched to writing SF and then writing columns for computer magazines). In the interview he said that give him the Rods and 20 minutes and he could destroy any target on earth.

I think various wanna be dictators of the world need to check their hole cards, the game just changed.

  4. Slovakia Shock As PM Seems Involved In Double Journalist Mafia Murder
The last article of a young Slovakian investigative reporter was published in homage to his passing Wednesday. Jan Kuciak and his fiancee Martina Kusnirova were murdered and found shot to death in their home Sunday.

The headline of Kuciak’s last article reads, “Italian Mafia In Slovakia; Its Tentacles Reach As Far As Politics” and it was published by a number of online journals in support after the young couple’s untimely passing.

Police say the attack bears all the hallmarks of a contract killing and has left the small country reeling. The body of Kuciak’s last article describes links between Italian mafia and figures close to the Prime Minister, Robert Fico. A photo of the young journalist surrounded by flowers crowns his last article published posthumously.

  5. Richard: Believe as much of what the DOJ says as you want, my opinion is they are lying to cover for Lynch and Obama. Remember he knew that the non government, non secure email servers were illegal but he sent emails to them. The Dems are out to protect him and will have to protect his underlings to do this.

DOJ Says Atty. Gen. Used Alias to Conduct Official Business to Protect Security, Privacy

Illustrating how government hides information from the American public, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch used a fake name to conduct official Department of Justice (DOJ) business in agency emails obtained by Judicial Watch. As the nation’s chief law enforcement officer Lynch, Barack Obama’s second attorney general, skirted public-records laws by using the alias Elizabeth Carlisle in emails she sent from her official DOJ account. In the records provided to Judicial Watch, the DOJ explains it as necessary to “protect her security and privacy and enable her to conduct Department business efficiently via email.”

This begs the question of how many other government officials use fake names and whether those aliases are searched when agencies process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Besides Lynch, we have only discovered the use of such aliases among government operatives to conduct official business at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Obama’s EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, famously used the alias Richard Windsor in a government email account to conduct official business and communicate with staff. Jackson even took required EPA computer training under the fake identity with the handle Wi*************@ep*.gov. She eventually resigned over the scandal, which brought to light the agency’s violations of federal open-records laws.

In Lynch’s case, Judicial Watch requested the records as part of an investigation into the Obama administration’s involvement in a United Nation’s international law enforcement coalition called Strong Cities Network (SCN). The purported mission of the global coalition was to build social cohesion and community resilience to counter violent extremism. The DOJ masterminded the agreement and Americans found out about the U.S.’s participation when Lynch announced it during a U.N. speech on September 29, 2015. Lynch referred to SCN as a “truly groundbreaking endeavor” and assured the notoriously corrupt world body that the Obama administration was deeply committed to the new initiative. “The government of the United States is fully invested in this collaborative approach and we have seen the value of empowering local communities by promoting initiatives they design and lead themselves,” Lynch said.

  7. This week, an outspoken conservative University of Illinois student who has been targeted by the school for his political affiliations gave Big League Politics an exclusive update.

Joel Valdez, only a Freshman, has been embattled with the university for the entirety of his first year. In November, he was assaulted by Professor and Ph.D student Tariq Khan when he and some conservative friends counter-protested an Antifa rally led by Khan. The assault was captured on video and Campus Reform reported on the incident.

The video shows Khan attacking Valdez, snatching his phone, and smashing it on the ground.

Shortly after the incident, Valdez was issued a university No Contact Order by the school, which threatened to dismiss him if he had any contact at all with the professor.

Trending: BREAKING: Laura Loomer Banned From Facebook For 30 Days For Post Calling David Hogg A Liar

Now, Valdez is facing a University Censure, which is an official reprimand telling Valdez that his behavior does not comport with university standards. The censure, he says, comes 3 months after a friend made a tongue-in-cheek comment offering to beat up a professor who had assaulted Valdez. The joke was made in a comment on Valdez’s Facebook page and reported to the university.

“The school wants me to put in writing what role I played in this incident, and how it could have gone another way.” said Valdez. “But I’m not allowed to justify my actions or blame Khan,” he continued.

“What was even more startling was when I heard that Tariq Khan was only getting community service hours,” said Valdez.

  11. FBI handling of congressional hacking suspect from Awan family leaves numerous questions
By LU Staff February 28, 2018

In March 2017, FBI agents were tailing House of Representatives IT aides suspected of hacking Congress, and apprehended one at the airport trying to make a hasty exit to Pakistan. She refused to speak with them, and a search revealed that she was carrying an apparently illegal amount of cash.

The FBI allowed Hina Alvi, wife of Imran Awan, to board the plane anyway — then filed paperwork saying agents believed she had no intention of returning to the U.S.

For nearly a year since, the case has lingered despite the House Office of Inspector General (OIG) determining that the family of Pakistanis made “unauthorized access” to Congress’s data shortly before the election.

Following revelations about the FBI’s actions in the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email server and Department of Justice officials’ handling of the Trump dossier, attention has turned to the agencies’ apparently lax attitude toward the congressional cyber breach case as perhaps the most jarring failure to enforce laws in cases that overlap politics.

  12. Trump calls BS on the Dems and DACA
By Onan Coca February 28, 2018

President Trump called in to this past weekend’s episode of “Justice with Jeanine Pirro,” and while they talked about the shooting in Parkland, Fla., the most interesting part of their discussion was about DACA.

The president told Pirro that at this point, after months of negotiating, debating, and posturing, he’s come to believe that the Democrats are simply using the issue as a political bludgeon. In fact, Trump seems to think that the Democrats don’t actually care about DACA at all and are simply using the issue to win votes and demonize the GOP.

He’s probably right. He’s given the Democrats every opportunity to amnesty the DACA DREAMers, yet they’ve done nothing. He even offered them more than they were asking, and still nothing. Remember, the Democrats were trying to amnesty only 800,000 DREAMers, but the president offered to amnesty all 1.8 million illegals who were DACA- eligible.

Here’s more on this from the president:

  13. Teacher union pensions invest in firearm and ammunition makers
By LU Staff February 28, 2018

Liberal teachers may claim they abhor guns, but their pension investments show they are willing to invest in the nation’s biggest gun and ammunition manufacturers, according to a review of teacher institutional investments by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The issue of gun violence has focused teachers across the country with renewed, emotional calls for gun control following the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., by alleged gunman 19-year old Nikolas Cruz. Seventeen were killed.

Despite teachers’ calls for gun control and a ban on semi-automatic rifles, teacher pension funds have invested for years in gun and ammunition companies such as Sturm, Ruger & Co.; Vista Outdoor; the Olin Corporation, which sells Winchester gun products; and American Outdoor Brands, which now manufacture Smith & Wesson weapons.

The four manufacturers produce a wide range of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, high-performance and semi-automatic AR rifles, silencers, range finders, and scopes. AR-style rifles were used in the Florida shooting and 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut.

  14. Indonesia: Islamic demonstrators demand Russian Ambassador be thrown out

Around one hundred Islamic demonstrators under the name of the Indonesia Muslim Organisation protested outside of the Russian Embassy in Jakarta on Thursday, demanding the Russian Ambassador be thrown out of the country over ongoing operations in Eastern Ghouta.

Demonstrators held up banners decrying the military operations in Eastern Ghouta, while chanting for the removal of the Russian Ambassador. Coordinator of the demonstration Ujang Furgon stated, “our Muslim brothers are being slaughtered there in Syria without mercy, we demand that the Indonesian government chucks out the Russian Ambassador, the Iranian Ambassador, and also the Syrian Ambassador from Indonesia.”

Furgon also called on Indonesian President Joko Widodo to “send our troops to Syria in order to fight the enemies of God, which are Russia, Iran and the Syrian Government under Bashar al-Assad.”

  15. Italy: Closed border forces migrants to brave the cold under Ventimiglia bridge

Around 150 migrants were seen living under a bridge in the Italian town of Ventimiglia on Thursday, amid snow and freezing weather conditions.

People were seen sleeping in tents and makeshift accommodation under the Roverino bridge, not far from the Italian-French border, where Russian chill winds have brought snow.

The Red Cross has tried to convince migrants to join the Roja camp, without much success due to fears of identification.

Don Rito Alvarez, the priest of a local church, lit a fire in front of his church to help people get warm, and provided them food and hot drinks.

Around 700 migrants were reportedly stranded at the Italian-French border in December, according to Italian media. According to Oxfam, around 500 of them have been living in the Red Cross Roja camp, while the remaining 200 have been forced to sleep in the open, including under the Roverino bridge.

  16. Germany: Muslim supermarket killer gets life in prison

Hamburg Higher Regional Court sentenced 26-year-old Palestinian Ahmad Alhaw to life in prison on Thursday on charges of carrynig out a deadly knife attack in an Edeka supermarket.

Last month, the defendant was charged with murder and six counts of attempted murder as well as grievous bodily harm, to which he pleaded guilty.

Alhaw’s motives are not yet clear to the investigators. According to Hamburg’s Interior Senator Andy Grote, Islamist motives and ‘mental liability’ might have been at play. During the investigation, no evidence of accomplices or association with the self-proclaimed Islamic State was found.

Last July, the suspect took a 20-centimetre (eight-inch) knife from the supermarket’s shelves before carrying out the attack. The stab wounds claimed the life of a 50-year-old German man dead and left five others injured.

  18. French far-right leader Marine Le Pen charged over IS photos

PARIS (AP) — French prosecutors filed preliminary charges Thursday against Marine Le Pen for tweeting brutal images of Islamic State violence.

The prosecutor’s office in the Paris suburb of Nanterre said the charges were issued for “distribution of violent images.” If the case eventually reaches trial and she’s convicted, Le Pen could face up to three years in prison and a 75,000-euro ($90,000) fine.

Le Pen’s December 2015 tweets showed executions by IS extremists, including the killing of American reporter James Foley. She posted them in the wake of the November 2015 IS attacks on Paris, accusing the government of not doing enough to protect France.

Le Pen told BFM television Thursday “it’s clearly aimed at silencing me. Yet I will not be silenced”. Le Pen said she would consider a potential conviction as a “medal of patriotism and defense of the French people.”

The preliminary charges were made possible after the French parliament lifted her immunity from prosecution in the case late last year.

Lawyer Rodolphe Bosselut, representing Le Pen in the case, confirmed the charges but wouldn’t comment.

It’s one of multiple legal cases targeting Le Pen or the National Front.

In one high-profile investigation, she and the party have to respond to charges over the misuse of European funds. She denies wrongdoing.

Le Pen, who was a distant runner-up to Emmanuel Macron in last year’s presidential run-off, plans to propose a new name for the National Front at a congress later this month, in an apparent effort to distance it from past problems and stigma. The party could also end the honorary presidency of Le Pen’s father and National Front founder Jean-Marie Le Pen, as part of a protracted family feud.

Marine Le Pen’s French-first, Islam-skeptic nationalism resonated widely in the wake of Donald Trump’s election and Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.

  20. Parents, Muslim group welcome budget’s $81 million for federal no-fly fixes

OTTAWA — Parents of young children and a national Muslim group are welcoming a federal budget commitment to address fairness and privacy concerns with Canada’s no-fly list.

The budget sets aside $81.4 million over five years, starting in 2018–19, and $14 million a year ongoing, to remake the much-maligned no-fly program. The money will go to the Canada Border Services Agency, Public Safety and Transport Canada.

Families from the group known as the No Fly List Kids successfully pressed the government to redesign the system after many nerve-racking airport delays due to children being mismatched with people on the no-fly roster.

Zamir Khan, whose three-year-old boy Sebastian has been repeatedly delayed at the check-in counter, applauded the federal announcement. Khan said he looked forward to “that day where I can travel with my son without having to worry about him being flagged any more.”

The federal money will be used to develop “a rigorous centralized screening model” as well as a redress system for legitimate air travellers caught up in the no-fly web, the federal budget plan says.

Parents and children from No Fly List Kids came to Ottawa in November to make their case to MPs and ministers with the aim of ensuring that funding for a new system to end the glitches was included in the budget.

The group enlisted support from MPs of all stripes who wrote letters to encourage Finance Minister Bill Morneau to allocate the money.

Those affected say the mistaken matches frequently involve Muslim- or Arabic-sounding names, raising the question of charter of rights guarantees of equality under the law.

The National Council of Canadian Muslims called the federal plan “a welcome step forward,” noting the council has documented numerous cases of persons wrongly flagged on the list.

“In each instance, the inability of victims to access basic information about their file and to subsequently clear their names is deeply concerning,” council spokeswoman Leila Nasr said Tuesday.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale has said the overall solution entails passing legislation now before Parliament, enacting regulations and building a computer system from the ground up.

The revised program will help ensure that privacy and fairness concerns are addressed, while keeping Canadians safe, the budget plan says.

The legislation being studied by MPs would amend the Secure Air Travel Act to allow the public safety minister to tell parents that their child is not on the Canadian no-fly list, meaning the name simply matches that of someone who is actually listed. The government says this would provide assurance to parents about their child’s status.

The bill, part of a broad package of security-related measures, would also allow federal officials to electronically screen air passenger information against the list, a process currently in the hands of airlines.

The government says this would prevent false name matches by enabling it to issue unique redress numbers for pre-flight verification of identity. But it also means creating a new computer system to do the job.

  21. NETHERLANDS – BEHEADED DOLL AT AMSTERDAM MOSQUE: ARREST MADE IN HOOFDDORP

The police arrested a 35-year-old man from Hoofddorp on Wednesday in connection with a bloody, decapitated doll left at Emir Sultan Mosque in Amsterdam Noord in January.

Passersby found the doll in front of the mosque early on Thursday, January 18th and reported it to the police. The police immediately launched an investigation, which led them to the Hoofddorp man. “The suspect is known to be driven by ideological motives”, the police said. He has no previous violent crime incidents on his record, the police added.

The incident with the doll prompted interim Amsterdam mayor Jozias van Aartsen to raise concerns about minorities increasingly being targeted in Amsterdam.

He met with members of the Muslim community after the doll was found. “I can imagine the fear very well. They experience this as an attack. It was seen by mothers and especially children from the school in front of the mosque. It had a huge impact on their lives, it hit them emotionally. A mosque should be a safe home”, the mayor said in a city council debate on the incident.

  22. CBC – Private school teacher accused of sexually assaulting boy, 10, in Scarborough

‘Everyone here is extremely shocked,’ says imam after teacher charged with sexual assault, interference

A private school teacher in Scarborough is facing multiple charges after a 10-year-old boy was allegedly taken from the school grounds and sexually assaulted.

Police allege the man, a teacher at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto, took the boy from school property just after 11 a.m. on Feb. 16.

The boy was driven to a location in the Neilson Road and McLevin Avenue area where he was allegedly sexually assaulted, before being returned to the school, police say.

Saleh Momla, 24, of Toronto has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

“Everyone here is extremely shocked and we’re just really concerned for all the students,” Imam Yusuf Badat told CBC Toronto, who said the teacher is no longer employed at the school.

Badat says the says the school plans to hold workshops in the near future to help ensure students know what abuse looks like and how to report it

“We don’t want any of this to be kept silent if there is another victim,” he said. Approximately 2,500 people come in and out of the centre, which includes not only the school but also a mosque.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook told CBC Toronto that the parents took exactly the right action by alerting the school and authorities when their child came forward.

“It’s very concerning but we use opportunities like this to urge parents to have conversations with their children and to teach their children to trust their instincts,” she said.

Analysis allegedly found more than 100,000 active registrants who are noncitizens

The Pennsylvania State Department is facing a lawsuit after officials refused to release records relating to noncitizens on voter rolls in the commonwealth.

An analysis found that there are allegedly more than 100,000 noncitizens that are currently registered to vote, according to a Philadelphia official’s testimony before a Pennsylvania government committee last year.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), an election integrity group, initially threatened the lawsuit against Pennsylvania’s State Department in December after officials in the state were unresponsive to PILF’s requests to inspect the data relating to noncitizens on the state’s rolls.

PILF filed the complaint Monday afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania seeking injunctive relief to compel Pennsylvania’s State Department to allow the group access to the information.

Al Schmidt, a Philadelphia city commissioner, disclosed a “glitch” in September 2017 at “Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicle branch offices was enabling noncitizens to register to vote when they applied for or renewed their driver’s licenses.”

  26. Trump’s Win is the Reichstag Fire of Internet Censorship
Manufacture a crisis and eliminate free speech.
    March 1, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Trump’s election victory was the Reichstag fire of internet censorship. The fury and conspiracy theories that followed were not just about bringing down President Trump, but ending free speech online.

It’s no coincidence that the central conspiracy theory surrounding the 2016 election involves free speech or that the solution is internet censorship. The claim that Russian trolls and bots rigged the election has zero actual evidence behind it. But it’s a convenient tool for not only delegitimizing Trump, but the very idea of a free and open internet where anyone can say anything they choose.

Senator Ben Cardin, Rep. Jerry Nadler and other members of Congress compared the election influence conspiracy to Pearl Harbor. Rep. Jim Himes went even further, suggesting that it had eclipsed 9/11 by claiming that it, “is up there with Pearl Harbor in terms of its seriousness as a challenge to this country.”

What they’re really saying is that Democrats losing an election is worse than the murder of 3,000 people. It’s why they will oppose a terror state travel ban until Islamic terrorists start voting Republican.

And what did this greatest attack since Pearl Harbor consist of? Speech. On the internet.

Mueller-Democrat-Never-Trump axis ignores the real 2016 election interference.

The Schiff memo emerged at last on Saturday and President Trump called it a “total political and legal bust.” That charge was “ridiculous,” David French of National Review told Fox News, urging former FBI boss Robert Mueller to dig deeper and wider. While Democrats also support Mueller’s probe, they have been working three shifts to curtail the real investigation of 2016 election interference.

President Trump estimated that three to five million illegals had caused him to lose the popular vote, which Hillary Clinton carried by 2.8 million votes. Could any of those votes have been fraudulent? After all, actual illegal voters would be more influential than any string of Facebook ads.

Trump duly launched the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity headed by vice president Mike Pence and Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach. Trouble was, Democrats such as California’s secretary of state Alex Padilla locked up the data.

“California’s participation would only serve to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the President, the Vice President, and Mr. Kobach,” Padilla said in a statement. “The President’s Commission is a waste of taxpayer money and a distraction from the real threats to the integrity of our elections today: aging voting systems and documented Russian interference in our elections.”

  28. Russia Deploys Stealth Fighters To Syria
But is it more bark than bite?
    March 1, 2018
    Ari Lieberman

Last week, Russia escalated its military profile in Syria by dispatching its top of the line fighter bomber to the war-ravaged country. Based on publicly available Israeli satellite imagery and eyewitness accounts, the Russians have deployed between 2 to 4 Su-57 fighter bombers to Khmeimim Airbase. In addition to the Su-57, the Russians also deployed advanced Su-35 fighter jets, and an A-50U airborne command and control plane.

The Su-57 is a fifth generation fighter bomber, and according to Russia, is said to possess stealth characteristics and performance features similar to the U.S. F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II. The Israeli Air Force has adopted the F-35 (which it calls the Adir) as its premier fighter and has outfitted the plane with an indigenously designed avionics package. The Su-57 is almost certainly the product of stolen U.S. technology, obtained through corporate espionage, cyber penetrations and surprisingly, open sources. The Russians have over the years developed a penchant for stealing or otherwise appropriating Western technology. Regardless, the F-22 and F-35 are still considered far superior to the Russian plane.

But if Russian reports regarding the aircraft’s performance are accurate, the Su-57 platform poses a serious challenge to U.S. and Israeli aerial operations. Both Israeli F-35s and U.S. Raptors are active over the cluttered skies of Syria.

  29. the gateway pundit – REPORT: White House Considering Replacing H.R. McMaster as Early as Next Month

According to a new report by NBC, the White House is preparing to replace National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster as early as next month.

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/03/report-white-house-considering-replacing-h-r-mcmaster-early-next-month/
    ==============================================
NBC news – White House preparing for McMaster exit as early as next month

WASHINGTON — The White House is preparing to replace H.R. McMaster as national security adviser as early as next month in a move orchestrated by chief of staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis, according to five people familiar with the discussions.

The move would be the latest in a long string of staff shakeups at the White House over the past year and comes after months of strained relations between the president and McMaster.

A leading candidate to become President Donald Trump’s third national security adviser is the auto industry executive Stephen Biegun, according to the officials.

Biegun, who currently serves as vice president of international governmental affairs for the Ford Motor Company, is no stranger to the White House. He served on the National Security Council staff from 2001 to 2003, including as a senior staffer for then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.

Rice introduced Biegun to Mattis, recommending him for a position in the administration, according to a close associate of Rice. After Mattis met with Biegun at a think tank event he was convinced Biegun would be a good fit for the national security adviser role, the associate said.

In an interview on MSNBC Thursday, Rice called McMaster “one of the best generals of his generation, he’s doing a really fine job as national security adviser. I have no idea about his future in that job. I hope he stays, he’s really good.”

Rice called Biegun “an outstanding person. He’s an expert in foreign policy and of course has spent time in the private sector and obviously he would be very, very good. But lets wait and see because H.R. McMaster is still in the job and he’s doing a really fine job.”

Two people close to Biegun said he would need several weeks to get his financial affairs in order to be able to join the administration this spring.

Mr. Biegun did not respond himself to a request for comment, but Ford Motor Company spokesperson Christin Baker said, “Steve has no plans to leave Ford.”

“We frequently face rumor and innuendo about senior administration officials. There are no personnel announcements at this time,” White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said in response.

McMaster joined the White House last year to replace Michael Flynn, who resigned after just 24 days in office amid revelations that he had lied to Vice President Pence about his dealings with Russian officials. Flynn, who was a target of the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign and potential ties to Russia, has since pleaded guilty to perjury and is cooperating with the special counsel.

McMaster had no ties to the Trump campaign and was serving as director of the Army Capabilities Integration Center in Virginia when he was named national security adviser on Feb. 20, 2017, choosing to remain an active duty Army lieutenant general rather than retire from military service.

But his tenure has been rocky. There have been staff shake-ups, questions about McMaster’s decision to voice political positions while still in uniform, and public disagreements with Trump.

Most recently, McMaster told a forum in Germany that Russian meddling in the election was “incontrovertible,” a comment that drew a quick rebuke from the president.

“General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC and the Dems,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 18, 2018
    ========================================

McMaster is a widely respected military general with a storied career.

As an Army major, he turned his Ph.D. dissertation into a best-selling book that became mandatory reading inside the halls of the Pentagon and on military bases around the world. “Dereliction of Duty” held military leaders responsible for the U.S. defeat in Vietnam, arguing that they quietly acquiesced to the demands of President Lyndon S. Johnson rather than providing their best counsel.

He earned a Silver Star as a tank commander during the Gulf War. During McMaster’s promotion to lieutenant general, retired Lt. Gen. David Barno called him “the rarest of soldiers,” admiring his ability to repeatedly “buck the system and survive to join its senior ranks.”

McMaster took over command of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command in 2012 and was planning to retire last summer until he got a surprise call from the White House in February 2017.

Now, a year later, a source close to Mattis said the Pentagon chief assured Kelly that he would offer McMaster a graceful landing, either another three-star job in the Army or even a promotion to a four-star general.

Defense officials would not speculate on what job McMaster could take in the Army, but two possible options are taking over for Gen. Vincent Brooks at U.S. Forces Korea or becoming the first commander of the new U.S. Army Future’s Command, which will focus on modernizing the force.

  30. Death to “Filthy, Demonic” Christians
A month in the lives of Christians under Islam.

    Muslim Slaughter of Christians

Pakistan: Sharoon, a Christian boy who achieved academic excellence despite years of entrenched discrimination and bullying—and whose poverty-stricken parents had worked hard to put him in MC Model Boys Government High School—was beaten to death by Muslim pupils. On his first day at the school, the teacher slapped him across the face while blurting an anti-Christian slur. Having set a precedent, the rest of the classroom of Muslim boys continued harassing him throughout that same first day: they too hurled out derogatory terms against Christians, denied him access to drinking water, and told him, “You’re a Christian don’t dare sit with us if you want to live.” According to one report: “His academic prowess … only added to the disdain for him felt by other pupils.” Another report says “there were repeated attempts to convert him to Islam. Sharoon however, never quit his faith to the chagrin of the Muslim children around him, exacerbating his pariah status.” Then, on August 27—his fourth day at the prestigious Model school—Muslim students attacked him in the classroom (the teacher supposedly did not notice as he was reading his paper). “The violence,” continues the report, “was of such sickening ferocity that poor Sharoon died where he was in the classroom.” A cacophony of insults accompanied the beating; he was called a “filthy Christian” and a “demon.” According to the murdered teen’s mother, “My son was a kind-hearted, hard-working and affable boy. He has always been loved by teachers and pupils alike and shared great sorrow that he was being targeted by students at his new school because of his faith. Sharoon and I cried every night as he described the daily torture he was subjected to…. The evil boys that hated my child are now refusing to reveal who else was involved in his murder. Nevertheless one day God will have His judgement.”

There’s a specific genre of fact checking known as fact checking spam.

Fact checking spam pointlessly fact checks things that don’t need fact checking because they’re obviously wrong. It’s done either to cast a shadow on a political position (Snopes is notorious for adjacent fact checking, it finds a distorted version of a true story and then fact checks it to cast doubt on the actual story) or just to grab some of the clicks from the clickbait. Google has rolled the Weekly Standard into its fact checks so that there’s one non-leftist fact checker out there. But instead the Weekly Standard decided to put out pseudo-snopes spam like this.

  34. Saudi Arabia Didn’t Cause a Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen, Iran Did
    March 1, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Saudi Arabia isn’t high on my list of favorite countries. But the claim that it caused a humanitarian crisis by intervening against Iran’s Houthi terrorists who actually caused the crisis is Iranian-Qatari propaganda. And yet it’s repeated unthinkingly by every media outlet and even by some people who should know better.

The Qataris have enough catspaws in the West that they can push this fake news through the usual method of funneling it through non-profit humanitarian organizations. That doesn’t make it any truer.

When a terrorist group takes over a country, it’s responsible for the humanitarian crisis. Not the countries that try to shut it down.

America didn’t cause a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Israel didn’t cause one in Gaza. Fighting ISIS didn’t cause one in Iraq and Syria. And the Houthis are no different.
