    • Excellent! many thanks. I talked to an ex-Iraqi soldier who was (now and probably then…I never asked) a Christian (a real one) and he was still traumatized by the Iranian use of children to walk over minefields to clear them ( a habit that the soviets used with adults in their punishments battalions) and that his worst memory was of fragmented child bodies landing all around him while his officer screamed “shoot them” at the troops who could not believe what they were seeing.

    • Myfreeeurope, you seem to be new here. As a consequence, I can only thank you for linking to one of the very finest (and briefest) explanatory articles about the utter incompetence of Muslim militaries.

De Atkine nails it time and again with respect to why Islam is a “fish without a bicycle” in Saudi Arabia’s “Empty Quarter”.

I’ve been linking to your article for well over a decade and am pickled tink to see someone else take up the torch. Please think about digesting this more extensive expose: John David Lewis’s, ““No Substitute for Victory”: The Defeat of Islamic Totalitarianism.

While vast, mountainous Iran is not an inviting strategic target, crippling this hyper-corrupt mullohcracy with a few clips into its hindquarters (e.g., its superannuated gasoline refineries) wouldn’t have been the worst possible decision. Along with North Korea, Iran is heading the West’s “Christmas List” in terms of who get’s “serviced” by attentive NATO (and SEATO) forces in the near-term.

      • Everyone who has written Europe off and say that we can’t win there needs to watch the video and then read the source.

        • The possession of large quantities of highly precise, lethal missiles means even an inferior fighting force can cause terrible damage. They may not prevail, but any engagement will be costly.

Israel, without strategic depth and with a tiny population, is in great jeopardy.

In my country an obstetrician spoke out about the huge numbers of muslim children being hatched here and the blatant gender abortion that this shows(IIRC 7or 8 males per female). He was silenced immediately(medicine here is under leftist control) and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find the true stats as those published as “official” do not match up with other sources that say the same thing about the massive boom in muhammads. They want boy children so that they can marry stupid infidel women and thus snowball their breeding factories. THIS is more dangerous than the illegal invaders as even if the gates become shut we have a booming 5th column well under way and once that Islamic party becomes fact the other parties will brown tongue it just to get power and that will mean a coming sharia state as then they will be incapable of offending any muslim or taking any sensible action.

        {Never fear: You can always correct for ‘accidents’ by government subsidized Freedom of Choice. Your freedom, the ‘accident’ always dies when you exercise your right to choose.}

And then there’s the new[!!], expansive euthanesia industry that’s wildly popular among ethnic Euros:

The right to a dignified death is viewed as an accomplishment of secular humanism, one of seven belief systems that are officially recognized by the government. Belgian humanism, which was deeply influenced by the nineteenth-century Freemasonry movement, offered an outlet for those who felt oppressed by the Church, but it has increasingly come to resemble the kind of institution that it once defined itself against.

Since 1981, the Belgian government has paid for “humanist counsellors,” the secular equivalent of clergy, to provide moral guidance in hospitals, prisons, and the armed forces.

Humanist values are also taught in state schools, in a course called non-confessional ethics, which is taken by secular children from first through twelfth grade, while religious students pursue theological studies. The course emphasizes autonomy, free inquiry, democracy, and an ethics based on reason and science, not on revelation.

Jan Bernheim, an emeritus professor of medicine at the Free University of Brussels, who studies ethics and quality of life, told me that euthanasia is “part of a philosophy of taking control of one’s own existence and improving the objective conditions for happiness. There is an arrow of evolution that goes toward ever more reducing of suffering and maximizing of enjoyment.” my emphasis

    • Excellent! many thanks.

Dear Michelle—while discussing this decade-long conflict with strangers in numerous random encounters—I have heard tales of both Iranian and Iraqi immigrants allude to how war-hardened veterans openly wept to see the flower of Iran’s youth being used as human mine-sweepers.

Directly alongside with how the “Palestinians” employ their own children as “single use” (i.e., non-recyclable) attack personnel, Iran’s giving their ten year-old boys a plastic key to “paradise” and pushing them forward into Iraqi minefields is about as disgusting as it gets.

It is slightly less than strange that terrorist Iran (plus the Muslim Middle East in general) and, for jollies, Communist China, all have warped their genetic pools.

However small a double-helix strand of DNA may be, when hammered on for long enough, there can emerge profound downstream effects.

As will be noted, consanguineous marriage (especially between “direct” or “parallel” first cousins) is especially harmful. Be that as it may, just several generations of gender-specific abortion—such as in Communist China or the Indian Subcontinent—can cause unimaginable consequences.

What we have is grist for numerous essays an historical anomaly whereby less-advanced (others might say, “backward”) nations have, nonetheless, obtained sufficient wealth or regional dominance such that their particular sociocultural drawbacks manage to temporarily “overcome” themselves.

Nonetheless, whatever immediate progress there may be, eventually it is rapidly eroded by culturally embedded mores like primogeniture inheritance, purdah (i.e., female confinement), slavery, consanguineous marriage, FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), genocidal doctrine, institutionalized misogyny, two-tier societies, along with all of the other pig slop brought to the table by Islam and other semi-literate cultures.

Be it through consanguineous marriage or gender-specific abortion, these wannabe “Superpowers” have almost universally maimed the gene pool of their own respective nations. Merely perpetuating such poisonous mindsets is bad enough. Allowing prenatal (i.e., ultrasound) sex determinations and encouraging first-cousin weddings puts those same weak mindsets into overdrive.

It is hard to imagine any policy more harmful to a given nation or the Chinese people than the OFOC (One Family, One Child) plan. Imagine children without any aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters or brothers?!? Who will their “family” be? With no genetic base available, a best guess is, “THE STATE”!

If that is not sufficiently alarming, then you’ll just have to wait for my future essay about how rigid ideologies like Islam and Red China promote the very worst sort of public insecurity.

Using 20:20 hindsight, it’s altogether apparent that the Politburo’s vigorous implementation of OFOC represented a frank admission (before the fact) that anticipated a lack of agricultural productivity and other natural resource harvests.

The ultimate irony being that unrestricted childbearing on The Mainland (at that time) would likely have exacerbated hideous fatality rates in the near-term famines and (too often, self-imposed) shortages that would follow Marxist ascension in Beijing. Even as it did this, however, there still would have been born millions of children with more-highly variegated genetic material whose long-term, overall prospects for survival, easily could have exceeded anything living in Red China today.

Communist China and India both have adopted this “winnowing” mentality. It is beyond imagination to think that such anti-human attitudes will be rewarded.

Let’s just look at Red China. After decades of intellectual property theft, the nation is incapable of advantageously reconfiguring a digital calculator.

Again, Michelle, thank you for helping to expose the grim details of countries that abuse the very few worthy characteristics of abortion. They are so few, that even the slightest overuse almost instantly descends into criminality. For the record, during my entire life I always have defended a woman’s right to control her body—even while paying the highest imaginable price for doing so.

  5. Play ‘fake news tycoon’ to combat misinformation

London (AFP) – Trolling, impersonating, demonising: these are just some of the behaviours encouraged in a new online game launching Tuesday in which young players become “fake news tycoons” — to counter growing misinformation.

Researchers at Cambridge University have teamed up with a Dutch media collective to develop an English version of the game aimed at inoculating people against the spread of so-called fake news.

The exercise encourages participants, who are tasked with building audiences for their imaginary fake news sites, to stoke fear, anger and mistrust by simulating the manipulation of online content.

In the game they choose polarising falsehoods to publish, cultivate an army of Twitter bots, fabricate evidence, and propagate dubious articles and conspiracy theories.

  6. CNN and MSNBC Helped Russia Sow Discord by Promoting Fake Anti-Trump Rally

One of the revelations in Friday’s indictment handed down by Special Counsel Robert Mueller was that alleged Russian attempts to sow disunity in 2016 included the organization of both pro- and anti-Trump rallies in New York City on the Saturday after Election Day.

A check of their November 12 coverage showed both CNN and MSNBC gave enthusiastic coverage to the Russian-organized anti-Trump rally that day, with live reports every hour. Correspondents celebrated the idea that it was “a love rally,” and repeated the marchers’ anti-Trump mantras, such as: “We reject the President-elect.”

While the two liberal anti-Trump networks offered heavy coverage of the anti-Trump rally throughout the day, a check of coverage between noon and 5:00 p.m. Eastern found that the Fox News Channel offered only a short re-cap (66 seconds) at the start of their 4:00 p.m. Eastern hour.

Los Angeles County’s homeless population is increasing faster than the supply of new housing, even with the addition of thousands of beds in the last two years and millions of dollars beginning to flow in from two ballot measures targeting the crisis, according to a long-awaited report by the region’s homelessness agency.

“WITH less than a fortnight before Italy’s general election, authorities in Rome are stepping up efforts to evict thousands of refugees – with right-winger Matteo Salvini pledging large-scale deportations.

And the charity Medicins Sans Frontieres has highlighted the fact about 10,000 migrants and refugees throughout Italy are living in what they describe as “inhumane” conditions.

Mr Salvini – leader of Lega Nord – signalled his intention to take a tough stance by vowing to deport 500,000 migrants within five years if his party wins the election – including 100,000 in the first year.

If polling is accurate, the centre-right coalition which includes Lega Nord, as well as former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia party, is on course to win a majority in the March 4 poll.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — That sign in hotel rooms asking guests if they really need their towels and sheets washed each day would become the rule in California, enforced with a $500 fine, if water officials vote to make a series of smaller-scale conservation measures permanent in the drought-prone state.

Members of the state Water Resources Control Board are scheduled to decide Tuesday whether to bring back what had been temporary water bans from California’s 2013-2017 drought and make them permanent.

  11. Mueller deputy Andrew Weissmann has a reputation for hard-charging tactics — and sometimes going too far

When FBI agents raided the northern Virginia home of President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul J. Manafort Jr. on July 26, they came with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.

They arrived before dawn, forced the front door lock and burst in with a no-knock warrant, tactics typically used in a major drug bust. The agents seized Manafort’s tax, banking and real estate records, photographed his expensive antiques and tailored suits, and hauled away a trove of material.

Manafort, once a high-flying Washington lobbyist, now is awaiting trial on a dozen federal charges, including fraud, conspiracy and money laundering of more than $18 million in an elaborate scheme that prosecutors allege extended through the period he led Trump’s campaign. He has pleaded not guilty.

    • President Trump, I’m Russian and I’m Not Laughing
I fear the indictment of Russian internet trolls may lead to less freedom for both Americans and Russians.

“They are laughing their asses off in Moscow,” President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday as part of his damage control after 13 Russian Facebook trolls were indicted for meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Really?

Some Russians — including the man who runs the indicted troll factory — are indeed laughing, but I’m one Russian who isn’t. The fallout from the indictment comes too close to a couple of lines, both in U.S.-Russian relations and in attitudes toward free speech, that it would be best not to cross.

The Internet Research Agency, a notorious St. Petersburg outfit specializing in propaganda, disinformation and cyberbullying, has been known to Russians — especially those critical of President Vladimir Putin — since 2013, when the investigative newspaper Novaya Gazeta published the first report about it. The organization had a strict security policy but also high staff turnover, so its vacancy ads and reports from people who have worked there or applied for jobs have been easy to find on the internet. Links to its many websites and the staunchly pro-Putin comments of its employees are a common sight on the social networks (I’ve had my share too from them).

  12. Somali Father Arranged for Daughter to Have Genitals Mutilated to Stop Her ‘Feeling Sexy’ (breitbart, Feb 20, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/02/20/somali-father-daughter-fgm-stop-her-feeling-sexy-court-hears/

“A Somali heritage Uber driver allowed his seven-year-old daughter to be subjected to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) because he said it stops “women feeling sexy all the time”, a court has heard.

The case represents one of the first times a prosecution for the crime – common in some migrant and Muslim cultures – has been brought to court in the UK, despite being illegal here since 1985 and hundreds of successful prosecutions in France.

“The case concerns… a practice that is illegal in this country and is becoming illegal in countries around the world,” Anna Vigars QC, prosecuting, told the court as the case began Monday.

“But, there are communities in Africa and the Middle East where it is common,” she added, according to The Guardian.

The prosecution alleges that the Somali father, who speaks “broken” English, admitted allowing his daughter to be cut to charity worker and anti-FGM campaigner Sami Ullah after picking him up in his Uber in March 2016.

Mr. Ullah asked the driver if he knew what the practice was using the Somali word, “sunna”. The driver is alleged to have made the cross sign with his finger and replied: “You mean cut?”

He then said he had allowed his own daughter to be mutilated, arguing that many people in his culture embraced it, and claiming that a smaller version of the practice was not wrong.

After the journey, the charity worker called the police, and officers then called on the driver’s family and it was discovered a girl aged seven had had her clitoris mutilated after an inspection, the Bristol Post reports.

Mr. Ullah added: “He [the defendant] told me he had got it done in an area of Bristol. I asked him if he knew it was illegal, he replied it was culture and tradition, some people do it, some people don’t…”

“Averaging at 177 cases a day, child sex crime allegations including rape and grooming are at a record high in the UK, the NSPCC has warned.

Figures compiled from Freedom of Information requests submitted to police forces across Britain found there were a total of 64,667 sex crimes against children under the age of 18 reported in 2016/17 — a rise of 15 per cent from the previous year.

Almost 14,000 of the cases involved alleged offences against children aged 10 or under, while 2,788 were allegedly carried out against children aged four or under.

NSPCC chief executive Peter Wanless said: “This dramatic rise is extremely concerning and shows just how extensive child sexual abuse is…”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/02/20/french-children-migration-right/

“France is safe and prosperous only thanks to a ‘lifetime of open borders’, while mass migration is a “universal right”, according to literature being handed out in French classrooms.

Intended for distribution to children between the ages of eight and 16, the new booklets are produced by ‘Secular Solidarity’, an organisation which receives around half of its funding from French taxpayers, in conjunction with other groups including SNUIPP-FSU, the major teachers’ union in France.

“Immigration is a fundamental human right” that is about more than survival, according to the taxpayer-funded body’s document, which tells that children “mass migration is the very essence of humanity”, and argues they have no right to secure the French border because “the most recent research shows the first humans were all from Africa”.

“To migrate is to move, it is natural in human beings,” it states, claiming that “the world we live in today: our countries, our cultures, our languages” have all resulted from millennia of open borders, the document alleges occurred.

On one page, a cartoon of an African boy is shown drawing attention to the booklet’s intended feminist nature, in which he orders a cartoon depicting a white girl to “notice… the use of inclusive language”.

“This new style of writing allows us to make men and women equals,” the cartoon figure asserts, praising the “modernised” form of French beloved by far-left activists but opposed by national language police, the Académie Francaise, which brands it a “mortal danger” to the centuries-old European tongue…”

“Greek authorities say 17 Turks who reached a Greek island by dinghy from Turkey are seeking political asylum in Greece.

The 17 are reportedly Turkish civil servants and their families who fled a government crackdown in the wake of a failed 2016 coup.

The Coast Guard said the Turks, including six children, were found Monday on the island of Oinousses, and were transported to the nearby island of Chios where a refugee center is located. They were expected to apply for asylum Tuesday.

Turkey has arrested more than 50,000 people since the failed coup and fired at least 110,000 others from government jobs. The crackdown was initially launched to deal with alleged coup-plotters, but critics say it has expanded to include other government opponents, such as academics, journalists and legislators.”

Tel Aviv will be “leveled to the ground” if Israel attacks Iran, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not escape with his life, a senior official in the Islamic republic’s regime threatened.

His comments came in response to Netanyahu’s speech on Sunday at the Munich Security Conference, in which the prime minister brandished a piece of an Iranian drone downed in Israeli airspace and threatened direct military action against Iran.

  20. 300 arrested after Sufis clash with Iran police, killing 5 (abcnews, Feb 20, 2018)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-sufi-followers-killed-paramilitaries-policemen-53210203

“Overnight clashes between followers of a Sufi Islam leader and Iranian police killed five members of the security forces and injured 30, Iranian media reported Tuesday, the latest tension between the mystical order and authorities. Over 300 were arrested.

Supporters of Sufi leader Nourali Tabandeh have been holding sporadic sit-ins near his home in Tehran, worried that the 90-year-old former deputy justice minister after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution could be detained by police. That fear stems from the recent January protests in Iran in which police detained Sufis.

Tabandeh has had close relationships with liberal activists.

Earlier on Monday, Sufis had rallied in front of a police station demanding the release of a detainee. They later rallied in front of Tabandeh’s home, where police started to try to disperse them. Previous rallies saw Sufi followers carrying clubs and knives, which they used to clash with police.

The semi-official Fars news agency said a Sufi follower rammed a bus into a group of police officers, killing three of them before being arrested late Monday.

The official IRNA news agency on Tuesday quoted police spokesman Gen. Saeed Montazeralmahdi as saying two members of the Basij forces also were killed in a stabbing and another car-ramming attack, which also injured 30. Police arrested over 300 Sufi followers, including the drivers of both vehicles, he said. Tabandeh himself remains free.

Police have blocked off streets to the site of the clash and deployed a number of officers to the area.

Later on Tuesday, state TV showed images of several detainees, injured policemen and property damage. Neighborhood residents complained about damage to their property and implored authorities to provide security and punish offenders.

A spokesman for the Sufis, Farhad Nouri, told the semi-official ISNA news agency that neither police nor Sufis initiated the violence and that some people are trying to “blame Sufis and take advantage of the riot.” He didn’t elaborate but said many Sufis are “worried” about the incident because their faith eschews violence…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/detained-southern-france-2017-barcelona-attacks-53216964

“The French prosecutor’s office says three people have been detained in France in connection with August’s deadly attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.

The arrests were made in the southern French regions of Tarn and Gard Tuesday after a decision by a French judge last month to launch a full inquiry into the Spanish attacks, which left 16 dead during the peak tourist season.

The three individuals are being held over the inquiry into “attempted murder as part of a terrorist enterprise” and “criminal terrorist association.” The identities and nationalities of the three have not been disclosed.

    No charges have been made.

The French prosecutor’s office said the three are in the network of one of the attack suspects in Spain but declined to elaborate.”

“The number of migrants trying to reach Europe through the Mediterranean will remain high this year, with more expected to arrive through Spain, the head of European Union border agency Frontex warned Tuesday.

Fabrice Leggeri told reporters that “the irregular migration pressure on the southern borders in the Mediterranean will remain at a very high level.”

He said that “especially the western Mediterranean route is under scrutiny.” About 21,000 unauthorized migrants — mostly from Morocco, Algeria and Guinea — entered Spain that way in 2017.

Leggeri said overall numbers have decreased since 2015, when 1.8 million people entered Europe, but migrants are finding new ways to cross borders, and forged documents are a major challenge…”

  23. IED Found at Border Bridge Near Texas

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 6:39 AM PT — Tues. February 20, 2018

Mexican officials recently discovered an improvised explosive device, or IED, at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Authorities confirmed the bomb was active, and was found at the bridge connecting Laredo, Texas to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The area is controlled by the drug cartel known as Los Zetas.

Experts deactivated the device, and removed it from the pedestrian lane.

This comes days after officials discovered two anti-personnel mines near Rio Grande City.

B omb threats are not uncommon in the area, but this is the first time an actual explosive device has been found.

  24. CA passes law ensuring school teachers can’t shoot back if attacked
By Howard Portnoy February 20, 2018

Among the many recommendations that have been revisited in the days since the most mass shootings at a school in Parkland, Fla., has been the idea of having armed guards at schools. Since many schools in the nation now have metal detectors at the entrance, the sight of an armed guard would be less jarring than it would have been in the era before schools saw the necessity of heightened security.

Israel has taken the proposal a step further, providing weapons training to teachers and instituting frequent active shooter drills. Since 1974, the nation has witnessed only two school shootings, and both ended with teachers killing the gunmen.

And then there’s California. In response to a recent decision by five school districts to allow teachers and staff with concealed carry permits to be armed on campus to defend themselves and their students, the state passed a law that guarantees teachers cannot shoot back if they or their students come under attack at school.

  25. Russian troll Apocalypse: Let’s get a grip, folks
    By J.E. Dyer February 20, 2018

Astonishingly, the use of social media to promote political themes in the United States, for which a Washington, D.C. grand jury last week indicted 13 Russians, is now being compared – as an attack on America – to Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

I think most people are sensible enough to simply discredit this hyperventilation and move on. But it’s important, before moving on, to register a couple of points about the Russian activity.

Each one starts with the reality that it is a serious matter, to know that Russia is trying to stoke political divisions among Americans.

Russia has been attempting to do that for an almost-uninterrupted period of 100 years now.

That’s basically one of the important points to remember. If each new instance of it is a catastrophe on the order of the attack on Pearl Harbor, or the felling of the Twin Towers, what does that make the last one? Because the Russian attacks on our national psyche, mounted through invidious political sloganeering and the exploitation of our own commitments to freedom of speech and thought, have been relentless for most of the last ten decades.

  26. AG Sessions: FBI’s handling of the dossier ‘will be investigated’
By LU Staff February 19, 2018

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Sunday that the Justice Department is investigating whether the FBI submitted accurate information about the infamous Steele dossier in order to obtain a surveillance warrant against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

“Are you, sir, investigating the fact that the FBI used the dossier to get a wiretap against Trump associates and they did not tell the FISA court that the Democrats and Hillary Clinton paid for the dossier?” Maria Bartiromo, the host of Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures, asked Sessions.

“Let me tell you, every FISA warrant based on facts submitted to that court have to be accurate,” he replied, adding:

  27. Is Rob Reiner calling on the GOP to assassinate the president?
By Ben Bowles February 19, 2018

It sure sounds like it from where I sit.

On Sunday, the once-and-forever Meathead took to Twitter where he assailed the president as a “mentally ill sociopath” with a “f*cked up psyche” (redacted here) and urged “GOP patriots to stand up and end this sickness.”

Since “GOP patriots” in liberal-speak is synonymous with “bitter clingers,” one could easily construe from Reiner’s remarks that the “end” he has in mind is murder.

  28. Migrant crisis in EU’s own backyard: Brussels savaged over treatment of refugees (express, Feb 20, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/921449/european-union-brussels-migrant-crisis-immigration-policy-dublin-regulation-asylum-seekers

“BRUSSELS is facing a migrant crisis in its own back yard it has emerged, as the European Union continues to disagree over a replacement for the bloc’s policy on refugees and asylum seekers.

Hundreds of migrants are living in the Belgian capital, many of whom arrived in Europe after fleeing violence in Sudan a year ago.

The revelation comes amid continued EU infighting over how to replace the bloc’s Dublin regulation, which states the country in which an asylum seeker arrives is supposed to be responsible for processing their application.

Some Sudanese migrants told the New York Times they have been injured by Belgian police officers.

Hamza Khater said: “I am afraid here.

    “Because I don’t have an education, I don’t have money, I don’t speak French.

“Belgium doesn’t understand the politics of Sudan; if I ask asylum here, Belgium may send me back to Italy immediately, or worse, even to Khartoum.”

The 31-year-old is one of around 500 migrants who are able to avoid the sub-zero nighttime temperatures at one of the city’s volunteer-run shelters.

But migrants are becoming increasingly visible in public spaces in Brussels and are sometimes forced to sleep on the streets.

And while hundreds of Belgian families have offered to help by inviting migrants into their homes, police in the city have been accused of using heavy-handed tactics.

Mr Khater said: “Why aren’t the police kind to us? “I am running for my life. I did do nothing wrong. I don’t understand the politics here.”

Mehdi Kassou, who helps organise the volunteer shelters, said “certain officers in certain towns, not all police” could be “pretty violent with migrants.”

He said: “We very regularly have people who enter with wounds, even bites from police dogs.”

A spokeswoman for the Belgian police insisted officers treated migrants in “a very empathic and humane way”.

But she added: “It is possible that during certain operations, for instance when people fiercely resist police actions, officers use force, but in proportion.”

Under the EU’s controversial Dublin regulation, asylum seekers are supposed to register in the first country they arrive in, but some migrants choose to move on.

The policy has led to friction between member states located on the edges of the bloc, such as Italy, Greece and Spain, which have been faced with processing more applications than nations further from the borders with Africa and Asia.

EU officials have floated the idea of mandatory quotas, where migrants would be re-homed across the whole bloc, but European Council President Donald Tusk previously admitted the issue “has proven to be highly divisive and the approach has turned out to be ineffective”.”

  29. Witnessing the Collapse of the Global Elite

Last weekend’s security conference in Munich was a stark reminder that this class has nothing of substance to offer a world in turmoil.

Eighty years ago in Munich, French and British politicians handed Czechoslovakia over to Adolf Hitler’s carving knife. Twenty-five years later, a German veteran of the ensuing war founded a conference in Munich that, in its own way, was designed to ensure that such a mistake would never reoccur. That veteran, Ewald von Kleist, came from a distinguished Prussian military family; he served as an officer in the Wehrmacht, had opposed Hitler, and participated actively in a plot against him. He was sent to a prison camp, and was lucky to have escaped execution.

The conference was originally called Wehrkunde (loosely translated as “military affairs”), and since 1963 it has met almost every year in Munich. The picturesque old Bayerischer Hof Hotel, where the event is held each year, becomes a seething mass of nearly 700 politicians, businesspeople, pundits, and officers, all eyed coldly and shoved out of the way by squads of contemptuous bodyguards. Attendees not eminent enough to have reserved seating often cannot elbow their way to the policy wonk mosh pit that the conference floor morphs into. The bathrooms can barely handle their traffic, and the hotel takes on the moist warmth and stale air of an aging high school gym. But still they come, now in the many hundreds, slowed by the officious motorcades of the truly important, trudging past half a dozen security cordons manned by thousands of vigilant German police.

Hamas and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction are continuing to contest control of the Gaza Strip.

However, the two rival parties are prepared to lay aside their differences and work together to foil US President Donald Trump’s plan for peace in the Middle East, the details of which remain unknown.

Thwarting Trump’s peace plan has become a top priority for Hamas and Fatah. This is a mission that seems to be much more important than alleviating the suffering of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where 65% of families live under the poverty line.

Although the details of the Trump plan still have not been made public, Palestinians across the political spectrum say they will never accept any peace initiative presented by the Trump administration. Whatever the peace plan will be, the answer is No.

In the eyes of the Palestinian leaders, the US administration has shown unprecedented “hostility” towards the Palestinians.

  32. Macron and Islam: “Appeasement and Dialogue”

    by Yves Mamou

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11908/france-macron-islam-appeasement

During Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, and even after he became president, he carefully avoided France’s two most dodgy topics: migrants and Islam. It did not take long, however, before Macron found himself caught up in both of them.

On February 11, 2018, however, Macron gave an interview to Journal du Dimanche: “We are working on the structuring of Islam in France and also on how to explain it, which is extremely important,” Macron told the French weekly newspaper. Of course, nothing significant came out of the interview; it was only one part of a message, to prepare Muslims and non-Muslims for the big project: transforming Islam in France into the Islam of France. Although its contents are still unclear, the frame is usually the same: Muslims are supposedly victims, and a reform of France is necessary to make them peaceful and happy.

One wonders if the Islam of France will be really different from what it is today.

With Islam, an unbridled anti-Semitism in France has continued to soar. On January 29, 2018, an 8-year-old Jewish boy wearing a Jewish skullcap was attacked in the suburb of Sarcelles, near Paris. For a long time, Sarcelles was a suburb where Jews and Muslims once lived peacefully side by side. That has changed. In 2014, a pro-Palestinian demonstration escalated into an anti-Jewish pogrom, complete with shops burned and civilians attacked. On January 10, 2018, also in Sarcelles , an unidentified assailant armed with a knife slashed the face of a 15-year-old Jewish girl. On January 9, in the suburb of Creteil, a kosher grocery store that had been covered with swastikas days earlier was gutted in a fire. The police said they suspected arson.

Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office issued a statement in regards to the recent discovery of the IED. The information released by Mexican authorities does not reveal the date that the bomb was left at the bridge, but confirmed that the explosive was active. The IED was left at the Las Americas International Bridge, also known as Bridge One. Neither the City of Laredo nor U.S. Customs and Border Protection has released any information in relation to the IED at the port of entry.

Mexican authorities de-activated the explosive device and removed it from the pedestrian lane of the bridge. While bomb threats are not unheard of at the various international bridges in Tamaulipas where cartels often flex their muscle; the discovery of an actual explosive device at the bridge is a first of its kind.

Wednesday’s horrific shooting in Florida has reignited the gun rights debate in the United States over the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, adopted in 1791, which states:: “… the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

In the past, proponents of limiting civilian access to firearms have extolled Israel as having the proper approach to limiting mass shootings, pointing to the numerous legal hoops Israelis must jump through in order to be granted a gun license.

“In Israel, gun ownership is a privilege rather than a right,” wrote Public Radio International in November. “There is no such thing as a right to bear arms in Israel,” the Huffington Post preached after the 2016 shooting in an Orlando nightclub that left 50 dead.

Figures compiled from Freedom of Information requests submitted to police forces across Britain found there were a total of 64,667 sex crimes against children under the age of 18 reported in 2016/17 — a rise of 15 per cent from the previous year.

  45. A total of 14 suspects have been indicted on people trafficking charges including several Nigerian migrants who brought women into France as asylum seekers where they would later become prostitutes.
The suspects, men and women aged between 20 and 35, were brought before a court in Marseille, southern France, after an investigation by the Central Office against Trafficking in Human Beings (OCRETH) that started in February last year, Le Parisien reports.

OCRETH, the judicial police, and the Marseille border police launched the investigation after a tip-off from a Nigerian woman who claimed to have been a victim of people traffickers. Investigators found that the traffickers were bringing women from Libya to Italy where they would later come to France.

“Some have lost their lives on this journey,” an investigator close to the case said.

“These men prefer to bring women with migrants because their journey costs much less than a plane ticket and avoids the formalities of entry into the Schengen area,” the investigator added.
