  1. Father-of-four who encouraged followers to ‘Take a break, come to jihad’ and showed ISIS beheading video to his own son faces jail (dailymail, Jan 24, 2018)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5308451/Father-four-showed-ISIS-beheading-video-son.html

“A father-of-four who showed an ISIS beheading video to his son and encouraged online followers to ‘Take a break, come to jihad’ is facing jail.

Gary Staples, 50, from south London, posted eight videos promoting the terror group to his Google Plus account between May and September 2016, the Old Bailey heard.

The clips featured images of al-Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and prominent convicted UK extremists including Anjem Choudary and Abu Hamza.

Another showed photos of men firing assault rifles and fighters on horseback holding Daesh flags while leading a procession of vehicles.

In January 2016, Staples was convicted of child cruelty for playing a gruesome propaganda video to his young child showing an ISIS terrorist beheading a captive.

Staples said at the time his son had mistaken the beheadings for people being buried in the sand…”

  2. Kerry, Only Dem To Lose Popular Vote This Century, Should Run Again
    January 25, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Not the hero the Democrats need, but the hero they deserve.

During the conversation, according to the report, Kerry asked Agha to convey a message to Abbas and ask him to “hold on and be strong.” Tell him, he told Agha, “that he should stay strong in his spirit and play for time, that he will not break and will not yield to President [Donald] Trump’s demands.”

According to Kerry, Trump will not remain in office for a long time. It was reported that Kerry said that within a year there was a good chance that Trump would not be in the White House.

He surprised his interlocutor by saying he was seriously considering running for president in 2020. When asked about his advanced age, he said he was not much older than Trump and would not have an age problem.

Then again, Trump hasn’t been known to ride a pink bike around the parking lot while humming the theme from MASH.

But yes, clearly what the Democrats need in this race is…

  3. Corona Para Los Muertos
Mexican mass murderer Juan Corona makes the case for border enforcement, denial of amnesty, and deportation of criminal illegals.
    January 25, 2018
    Lloyd Billingsley

An ad for President Trump cites racist Mexican cop-killer Luis Bracamontes an example of “pure evil,” and a reason to build a wall and stop illegal immigration. As it happens, three days after the president’s 2016 election victory, California denied parole to Juan Corona, the Mexican serial killer who makes an even stronger case for border enforcement.

Corona was born in the Mexican state of Jalisco in 1934 and in 1950 illegally crossed the border into the United States. He picked carrots and melons in Imperial Valley then moved north to the Yuba City area, near Sacramento. Deported in 1956, Corona had no trouble entering the United States illegally a second time. By 1960, the Mexican became a labor contractor for local American farmers, including Goro Kagehiro.

On May 19, 1971, Kagehiro noticed that someone dug a man-sized space in his peach orchard and filled in the hole. This turned out to be the grave of Kenneth Whiteacre, whom somebody had sodomized before stabbing him to death then chopping apart his head with a machete.

  5. Calgary Protest Against Trudeau and CBC for Spreading Hijab Hoax Story

Outrage grows as Trudeau and the elites refuse to apologize for their role in spreading the Hijab Hoax.

Canadians have taken to the streets to protest Justin Trudeau, Kathleen Wynne, and the elitist establishment media who spread the Hijab attack hoax.

    Trudeau hypocrisy

For all his talk of “inclusivity” and “diversity,” Trudeau acted very disrespectfully in spreading a story that falsely cast blame on an ‘Asian male,’ and has refused to apologize for his role in spreading that fake story.

It’s insulting to countless Canadians, and it goes against what a Prime Minister is supposed to do.

Trudeau should be bringing Canadians together, instead he spread a false story for his own political gain, seeking to divide Canadians in order to increase his chance of holding onto power and imposing his extreme agenda on Canadians – as did Kathleen Wynne.

Trudeau seems willing to tear Canada apart if he thinks it will benefit him.

That’s why it’s great to see Canadian citizens taking to the streets to stand against Trudeau and his compliant elitist media and send a message that Canadians deserve far better.

  7. FOX News – DOJ recovers missing text messages between anti-Trump FBI agents Strzok and Page

The Department of Justice has recovered missing text messages between anti-Trump FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the DOJ’s inspector general said Thursday.

In a letter sent to congressional committees, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz said his office “succeeded in using forensic tools to recover text messages from FBI devices, including text messages between Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page that were sent or received between December 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017.”

“Our effort to recover any additional text messages is ongoing,” Horowitz said. “We will provide copies of the text messages that we recover from these devices to the Department so that the Department’s leadership can take any management action it deems appropriate.”

Fox News’ Sean Hannity had reported Wednesday that the Department of Justice had started to recover some of the texts.

The missing messages have been at the center of a storm of controversy on Capitol Hill, after the DOJ notified congressional committees that there is a gap in records between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017. Strzok and Page are under scrutiny after it was revealed that the former members of Robert Mueller’s team exchanged a series of anti-Trump texts during the presidential campaign.

The gap in records covered a crucial period, raising suspicion among GOP lawmakers about how those messages disappeared.

More than 50,000 texts were exchanged between Strzok and Page, Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed Monday. Sessions had pledged to figure out how some of their texts went missing.

“We will leave no stone unturned to confirm with certainty why these text messages are not now available to be produced and will use every technology available to determine whether the missing messages are recoverable from another source,” Sessions said in a statement provided to Fox News. “If we are successful, we will update the congressional committees immediately.”

Federal law enforcement officials told Fox News on Wednesday that thousands of FBI cellphones were affected by the technical glitch that apparently prevented those Strzok and Page messages from being stored or uploaded into the bureau’s archive system.

Horowitz sent his letter confirming the discovery of texts to Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who had inquired about the messages.

The five-month stretch of missing messages covers a period of time that includes President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the firings of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and FBI Director James Comey and the standing-up of former FBI Director Mueller as special counsel to investigate alleged Trump campaign collusion with Russian officials during the 2016 election.

  8. California Considers $1,000 Fine for Waiters Offering Unsolicited Plastic Straws

Ian Calderon wants restaurateurs to think long and hard before giving you a straw.

Calderon, the Democratic majority leader in California’s lower house, has introduced a bill to stop sit-down restaurants from offering customers straws with their beverages unless they specifically request one. Under Calderon’s law, a waiter who serves a drink with an unrequested straw in it would face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

“We need to create awareness around the issue of one-time use plastic straws and its detrimental effects on our landfills, waterways, and oceans,” Calderon explained in a press release.

This isn’t just Calderon’s crusade. The California cities of San Luis Obispo and Davis both passed straws-on-request laws last year, and Manhattan Beach maintains a prohibition on all disposable plastics. And up in Seattle, food service businesses won’t be allowed to offer plastic straws or utensils as of July.

The Los Angeles Times has gotten behind the movement, endorsing straws-on-request policies in an editorial that also warned that “repetitive sucking may cause or exacerbate wrinkles on the lips or around the mouth.” Celebrity astronomer Neil DeGrasse Tyson (always up for a little chiding) and Entourage star Adrian Grenier have appeared in videos where an octopus slaps them in the face for using a plastic straw.

The actual number of straws being used is unclear. Calderon, along with news outlets writing about this issue—from CNN to the San Francisco Chronicle—unfailingly state that Americans use 500 million plastic straws a day, many of them ending up in waterways and oceans. The 500 million figure is often attributed to the National Park Service; it in turn got it from the recycling company Eco-Cycle.

Eco-Cycle is unable to provide any data to back up this number, telling Reason that it was relying on the research of one Milo Cress. Cress—whose Be Straw Free Campaign is hosted on Eco-Cycle’s website—tells Reason that he arrived at the 500 million straws a day figure from phone surveys he conducted of straw manufacturers in 2011, when he was just 9 years old.

Cress, who is now 16, says that the National Restaurant Association has endorsed his estimates in private correspondence. This may well be true, but the only references to the 500 million figure on the association’s website again points back to the work done by Cress.

More important than how many straws Americans use each day is how many wind up in waterways. We don’t know that figure either. The closest we have is the number of straws collected by the California Costal Commission during its annual Coastal Cleanup Day: a total of 835,425 straws and stirrers since 1988, or about 4.1 percent of debris collected.

Squishy moderates on the straw issue have pushed paper straws, which come compostable at only eight times the price. Eco-Cycle skews a bit more radical, with their “Be Straw Free” campaign—sponsored in part by reusable straw makers—that urges the adoption of glass or steel straws. Because we all know how good steel smelting is for the environment.

In any case, criminalizing unsolicited straws seems like a rather heavy-handed approach to the problem, especially since we don’t actually know how big a problem it is. But don’t take my word for that. Ask Milo Cress.

“If people are forced not to use straws, then they won’t necessarily see that it’s for the environment,” he tells Reason. “They’ll just think it’s just another inconvenience imposed on them by government.”

    • I get it. I was at a Bernie Sanders rally and decided to clean up the crowd’s discarded plastic bottles after Bernie’s speech on the environment. Such straw-users need this legal guidance to refrain from using straws in the first place.
Seriously, here are some reasons that we love to use straws:
a natural transition for toddlers away from foul-smelling sippy cups
a way for restaurants to mark which drink is which
prevent choking for those with an aging swallow reflex
      allow bubble-blowing fun

      • I’m fond of my own stainless steel straw.
For all the reasons you cite, plus it prevents staining of the teeth.
Incidentally: It’s one of the best close-quarters weapons you can carry. Drive it straight through the eye to the brain, fast. Easier to manage than a knife.

  9. Macron urged to SAVE French wives of ISIS jihadis captured in Iraq (express, Jan 25, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/909975/Emmanuel-Macron-ISIS-French-wives-jihadis-captured-Iraq

“EMMANUEL Macron has been told he has a moral duty to fight for the lives of the wives of French jihadis captured in Iraq.

Two wives of French jihadis captured in Iraq are facing the death penalty, which France formally abolished in 1981.

And lawyers representing the women penned a letter calling on the French president to fight for the wives as they await trial.

William Bourdon, Vincent Brengarth and Martin Pradel wrote: “France has repeatedly called for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty, no matter how grave the crime.”

The lawyers called on Mr Macron to respect their clients’ fundamental right to a “fair trial”, adding they had “serious doubts about the fairness of the trial procedure” in Iraq.

However, the French government said earlier this month all jihadis arrested in Kurdish-held areas of Syria or Iraq should face local justice so long as they could be guaranteed a fair trial.

The call for Mr Macron to come to the women’s defence came days after an Iraqi court sentenced to death a German woman of Moroccan descent for joining ISIS…”
