  1. India: Global child bride racket uncovered, eight Muslim sheikhs arrested

Three qazis were arrested. A qazi is a judge of a Sharia court. Why would such men be involved in this? Because child marriage is Islamic.

“Islam has no age barrier in marriage and Muslims have no apology for those who refuse to accept this” — Ishaq Akintola, professor of Islamic Eschatology and Director of Muslim Rights Concern, Nigeria

“There is no minimum marriage age for either men or women in Islamic law. The law in many countries permits girls to marry only from the age of 18. This is arbitrary legislation, not Islamic law.” — Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-‘Ubeidi, Iraqi expert on Islamic law

  2. US Supreme Court cancels Trump’s ‘Muslim ban’ hearing (middleeasteye, Sep 25, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/us-supreme-court-cancels-trumps-muslim-ban-hearing-915162123

“The US Supreme Court signalled on Monday it may dismiss a challenge to President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban after the White House announced tailored restrictions on eight countries that legal experts said stand a better chance at holding up in court.

The high court cancelled oral arguments scheduled for 10 October to decide whether or not a March 6 executive order that temporarily blocked travel from six Muslim-majority countries was discriminatory.

That ban expired on Sunday. The president replaced it with a proclamation that indefinitely restricts travel from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad and North Korea. Certain government officials from Venezuela will also be barred. The new ban, Trump’s third, may affect tens of thousands of potential immigrants and visitors.

Challengers of the new ban claim that it still signifies as a “Muslim ban”…”

  3. Cage director convicted of obstructing airport counter-terrorism search (middleeasteye, Sep 25, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/cage-director-denies-obstructing-airport-search-refusing-disclose-passwords-216577570

“The managing director of the British human rights organisation Cage refused to reveal the passwords for his electronic devices to police during an airport stop to protect the privacy of a client who claimed he had been tortured while in US custody, a court heard on Monday.

Muhammad Rabbani was convicted at Westminster Magistrates’ Court of wilfully obstructing Schedule 7 counter-terrorism powers after being stopped by police at London’s Heathrow Airport early in the morning on 20 November 2016 following a flight from Doha, Qatar.

Schedule 7 powers allow police officers to stop and question anyone passing through British airports to ascertain whether they are involved in terrorism and extend to asking those stopped for passwords or PIN codes to access electronic devices and to downloading material from them.

Rabbani was ordered to pay £620 in legal fees but his case was conditionally discharged, meaning that he will face no further penalty if he commits no further offences for 12 months.

The charge carried a maximum sentence of three months in prison.

Addressing journalists and supporters after the trial, Rabbani said the case had “highlighted the absurdity of the Schedule 7 law”…”

  4. Most British people support racial profiling of Arabs and Muslims: Poll (middleeasteye, Sep 25, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/most-british-people-support-racial-profiling-arabs-and-muslims-poll-852563745

“A majority of British people support racial profiling against Arabs and Muslims for security reasons, according to a new poll, which also reserves criticism for British foreign policy in the Arab world.

The YouGov poll which looks at UK attitudes to the Arab world, reveals differences between Conservative and Labour voters, and Remainers and Brexiters.

In total, 55 percent of respondents wanted racial profiling of Arabs and Muslims. When broken down across the political spectrum, 72 percent of Conservatives agree with profiling, while 42 percent of Labour party voters support it, the poll says.

But just 24 percent of people are against profiling, something that will concern campaigners who have long-argued that British counter-terrorism policies such as Prevent already overwhelmingly target Muslims…”

  5. Frenchman who was on terror watchlist becomes police officer (thelocal, Sep 25, 2017)
    https://www.thelocal.fr/20170925/frenchman-formerly-on-terror-watchlist-slips-through-the-net-to-become-cop

“A Frenchman who had been on France’s terror watchlist after showing signs of having been radicalized to extremist Islam has been accepted into France’s police force.

The man was placed on the terror watch list in 2012 as a known radical Islamist and France’s intelligence service DGSI kept him under surveillance for a number of years after being alerted to his behaviour, according to French news site RTL.

Unaware he was being watched, the man, who has not been named applied to join the armed forces, but wasn’t successful.

He then decided to try to join the French police force.

Despite apparently being under watch he was recruited as an Adjoint de Securité, a role ranked below a qualified police officer which can involve patrolling the streets and administrative duties.

This is despite the DGSI receiving significant intelligence about his behaviour and sending his details on to the interior minister, who supervises the police, RTL reported.

He was kept under surveillance in this role, and once the security forces were sure he wasn’t involved in any terrorist plots, he was allowed to complete his training and became a fully qualified police officer on 22 September after undergoing the required training.

He has since been removed from the terror watchlist.

France’s new anti-terrorism law, which will come into effect on 1st November, will ensure strict background checks will be made on anyone recruited into the police, customs, and security forces.

Last year, a leaked memo revealed radicalisation among police was a growing fear.

Commanding officers were said to be concerned by 17 junior-ranking officers’ behaviour, four of whom had converted to Islam.”
