  1. Students for Justice in Palestine Finally Held Accountable
Modest step in the right direction by University of California, Irvine.

The rabidly anti-Semitic campus group known as “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP) has been conducting its own version of an intifada on college campuses for years. Its members do not just shout vile epithets claiming Israel is a “racist apartheid” state and worse. They harass college students who peacefully assemble on campus in support of Israel and disrupt discussion forums, preventing invited guests from speaking.

One recent example of SJP’s unhinged behavior occurred at the University of California, Irvine, where an SJP chapter disrupted a peaceful event last May sponsored by a pro-Israeli student group, Students Supporting Israel. A delegation from “Reservists on Duty,” an Israeli non-governmental organization dedicated to “countering and exposing” the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement, arrived at the campus to lead a panel discussion. About 30 pro-Palestinian students from SJP entered the room during the question and answer portion of the program, but not for the purpose of asking questions or engaging in a reasonable debate. Instead, they disrupted the program, after having tried to prevent the Reservists on Duty delegates from even meeting with the pro-Israeli students who wanted to hear what the reservists had to say. According to a report in Arutz Sheva, one SJP member even spat on a female Israeli reservist. After investigating a complaint from the Israeli delegation and Students Supporting Israel, the UC Irvine Office of Academic Integrity and Student Conduct decided to discipline Students for Justice in Palestine for violating university policy.

  2. A Smash Zionists Rally at the U of Illinois
Students advocate violence as the “only option” against Zionists and other “fascists.”

The radical Students for Justice in Palestine organized a “Smash Fascism” rally this week at the University of Illinois to attack Zionism and the fiercely democratic State of Israel as a supposedly white-supremacist, fascist country.

What these left-wingers meant by “fascism” is subject to debate. Fascism has long been in the eye of the beholder. The term has been used so promiscuously in recent decades that it has been drained of meaning.

George Orwell’s observation in the essay, “Politics and the English Language,” that “The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies ‘something not desirable,’” is as true today as the day he wrote it.

When the Left speaks of fascism they don’t refer to actual fascism as an ideology and political system — they mean whatever they oppose. What is fascist changes, sometimes daily.

  3. North Korea’s Capital is a Ghost Town

    http://nypost.com/2017/09/08/north-koreas-capital-is-a-ghost-town-amid-nuclear-testing/Is anybody home, Pyongyang?

The North Korean capital looks positively post-apocalyptic in aerial footage that emerged this week.

Aram Pan, 41, a Singaporean pilot, took the video for a project called DPRK360, meant to show the hermit kingdom “from a different perspective.”

Despite being the largest city in North Korea, with a population of about 2.58 million, Pyongyang appears to be deserted.

The footage has emerged as global tensions continue to rise amid diminutive despot Kim Jong Un’s nuclear tests.

  4. Traces of xenon detected in S. Korea following N. Korea’s nuke test

SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Yonhap) — Traces of xenon gas, a radionuclide, were detected in South Korea, the nuclear safety agency said Friday, five days after North Korea conducted its most powerful nuclear test.

The the radioactive material, the xenon-133 isotope, was found in the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission’s analysis of ground, air and maritime samplings that were collected locally after the latest nuclear test by the North, according to the agency.

Defying international warnings, North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful yet nuclear test Sunday, claiming it was a hydrogen bomb that can be loaded atop an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The detected amount measures 0.43 milibecquerel per cubic meter or 0.03 mBq/?, according to the analysis.

  5. Germany Heading for Four More Years of Pro-EU, Open-Door Migration Policies

    by Soeren Kern
    September 8, 2017 at 5:00 am

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), is on track win a fourth term in office after polls confirmed she won the first and only televised debate with her main election opponent, Martin Schulz, leader of the Social Democratic Union Party (SDP).

A survey for the public broadcaster ARD showed that 55% of viewers thought Merkel was the “more convincing” candidate during the debate, which took place on September 3; only 35% said Schulz came out ahead.

Many observers agreed that Schulz failed to leverage the debate to revive his flagging campaign, while others noted that Schulz’s positions on many issues are virtually indistinguishable from those held by Merkel.

Rainald Becker, an ARD commentator, described the debate as, “More a duet than a duel.”

“Merkel came out as sure, Schulz was hardly able to land a punch,” wrote Heribert Prantl, a commentator at Süddeutsche Zeitung. “The candidate is an honorable man. But being honorable alone will not make him chancellor.”

Robbie Travers is a 21-year-old law student at the University of Edinburgh and an articulate, insightful contributor to Gatestone as well as other websites. In his essays, he has illuminated the topsy-turvy values that dominate contemporary British political discourse – as exemplified by the refusal of the Speaker of the House of Commons to invite President Trump to address Parliament and the refusal of Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn to ban Al Qaeda from Britain as a terrorist organization.

Now, Travers has become the victim of the very forces about which he has written. In April, after the US Air Force carried out a successful anti-ISIS action, he posted a comment on Facebook

  7. Microsoft DACA Statement Is Brazenly Anti-Rule of Law
By Stephen Kruiser September 6, 2017

The hysteria surrounding President Trump’s decision to make Congress do its job regarding DACA and DAPA has been a bit overwrought. And dishonest.

Tucker Carlson was one of the few prominent media types who discussed it with some honesty, actually using the word “illegal.”

DACA not only deals with people who are here illegally, but was implemented in a way that tests legality. At some point it would be nice if that aspect bothered more people.

Tech giant Microsoft isn’t bothered by any of that law stuff though.

  8. Austria Halts Construction of Million Euro ‘Anti-Terror’ Wall After Backlash (breitbart, Sep 8, 2017)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/09/08/austrian-government-stops-construction-million-euro-anti-terror-wall-public-backlash/

“The Austrian government has halted the construction of an “anti-terror” wall around the chancellor’s building after a backlash from the public when it was discovered the project had cost 1.5 million euros.

The office of Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern announced Thursday that the project to build the wall would be cancelled effective immediately after a prolonged outcry. Many, like the leader of the anti-mass migration Freedom Party (FPÖ) Heinz-Christian Strache, accused the government of only “protecting themselves”, Die Presse reports.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the plan for the wall had been drafted as early as 2014 but has become an issue due to the campaigning for the early national election which is scheduled to take place on October 15th.

Newspaper Kronen Zeitung noted that the 220-foot long wall would cost Austrian taxpayers 1.5 million euros and questioned why it was needed when the terror threat in Austria is regarded as “low”…”

  9. Suspected Boko Haram fighters kill 9 farmers in Nigeria (abcnews, Sep 8,2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/suspected-boko-haram-fighters-kill-farmers-nigeria-49703740

“The leader of a self-defense group in northern Nigeria says suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed at least nine people at a farm outside Maiduguri city.

Bunu Bukar, the secretary of the Borno state hunters association, says the insurgents abducted five farmers Wednesday and returned Thursday for four others. He says the nine bodies were dumped Friday in Gongulong, about 13 kilometers (8 miles) east of the state capital.

Modu Hassan, a Maiduguri resident whose father in-law was among those killed, says the attackers tied the victims’ hands and slit their throats.

Boko Haram fighters have intensified attacks on farmers in recent weeks, including the killing of dozens in two raids in Damboa, south of Maiduguri.

The Islamic extremist group has killed more than 20,000 during its eight-year insurgency.”

  10. 4 killed in suicide bombing at Somalia restaurant: Police (abcnews, Sep 8, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/dead-suicide-bombing-somalia-restaurant-police-49704956

“A Somali police officer says four civilians are dead after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a restaurant in Baidoa town in southwestern Somalia.

Officer Ahmed Isaq says the bomber walked into the crowded restaurant posing as a customer and targeted a group of diners.

Isaq says three other people are wounded.

There is no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast. The al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group often carries out deadly bombings in high-profile areas of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, and elsewhere.”

    • Saddam and Assad were never allies of the US, not that many are going to believe this. They weren’t US puppets either although a lot of people will make that claim.

    • While I agree with most of what Black Pidgeon says, I have to tell you that I stayed on his channel for over an hour and clicked off when he presented his revisionist history of the Iraq war.
It is simply not true that Saddam Hussein was a good guy unfairly maligned by the US. The US had agreed to the task of enforcing UN resolutions. The country of Iraq violated 21 of those resolutions and put US aviation in peril by lighting them up on radar.
One could make the argument that the US didn’t say that they had had enough of Iraq violating UN sanctions and that the rest of the free world should take a go at enforcing them… But to say that Hussein was a good guy is simply untrue. I remember video crews documenting burka clad women shouting down air vents for their children lodged in Hussein’s underground prisons or their walk through their olympic stadiums with torture rooms.
The whole UN thing and the US involvement in enforcing the sanctions went down the memory hole and what especially went down that hole was the European breaking of the sanctions to make a buck. (How many Mercedes were imported into Iraq under the oil for food program? How many Russian construction crews were imported into Iraq to build underground bunkers?) I swear the Germans and Russians would sell their grandparents for a nickle.
Bush lied, people died. No one seems to remember that American involvement in Iraq was UN sanctioned to keep this monster from gassing any more of his citizens, not to mention the marsh arabs in the southern part of the country that he wanted to eradicate.
Black Pidgeon has it all wrong on this one.

      • It is simply not true that Saddam Hussein was a good guy unfairly maligned by the US.

        Too right, Babs!

Saddam Hussein knowingly allowed bin Laden’s sons to transit Iraqi soil (pre-9-11).

Iraq’s chemical weapons were allowed to “leak” into Syria because of Turkey’s last-minute refusal to permit any marshaling (at the Incirlik Air Base) of Western military forces needed to create a classic north-south “pincer” formation that would have intercepted Hussein’s hasty evacuation of his WMDs.

Speaking of sons, Udai and Qusay Hussein were perverted, sadistic, psychopaths that endured a tiny fraction of the suffering that they managed to inflict on Iraq’s general population. How ironic that Qusay took four bullets (in his luxurious Porsche) that forever crippled him. Who says there’s no justice?

Then again, the Iraqis have demonstrated a sincere dedication to perpetuating hyper-corruption, Islamic violence, and terrorism in ways that shred the slightest sympathy that they might otherwise deserve. Go figure…

  12. 174 Turkish ISIL militants surrendered in Iraq after liberation of Mosul, Tal Afar (hurriyetdailynews, Sep 8, 2017)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/174-turkish-isil-militants-surrendered-in-iraq-after-liberation-of-mosul-tal-afar-.aspx?pageID=238&nID=117723&NewsCatID=352

“A total of 174 Turkish militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have surrendered to the Iraqi army, Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) and Peshmerga forces in Iraq after the liberation of Mosul and Tal Afar from the jihadist group.

The situation of the militants, who surrendered with their families, are under close surveillance by Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (M?T), while security precautions on the border have been stepped up as a measure against ISIL militants crossing into Turkey.

The jihadist group reportedly has started seeking new strategies after losing territories in Syria’s Raqqa and the entire control over the cities of Mosul and Tal Afar in Iraq. After operations in Iraq, many of the jihadists in the area fled to Syria, while half of them surrendered to different Iraqi groups and authorities.

Authorities have determined that there are 174 Turks among the ISIL militants who surrendered to the Iraqi army, Hashd al-Shaabi and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces. While M?T is following the situation closely, the steps to be taken regarding the militants will be determined in the upcoming days.

In addition, a warning was sent to Turkish border units for them to be on high alert in case ISIL militants attempted to infiltrate into the country. ..”

  13. ‘Unregulated madrassas must be tackled to fight extremism’ (tribune, Sep 8, 2017)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1501029/unregulated-madrassas-must-be-tackled-to-fight-extremism/

“The narrative about counter-terror in Pakistan is equally reactionary and lame as is the idea of negotiating with terror groups. A single-handed approach of military operations has proven defective too. Madrassas or religious seminaries have been long blamed for present day extremism and militancy after successfully creating foot soldiers for Afghan uprising and succeeding against the Soviet Union.

It is alarming that the killers of Sabeen Mahmud or Daniel Pearl were not poverty-stricken radicals or brought up and brainwashed on charity. Like them, hundreds of others subscribing to the fanatic interpretation of religion, sect and ethnicity have had exposure to the universities and occasionally to the best schools abroad.

The rogue children of classical middle-class can be found in sectarian and ethno-nationalist camps. The numbers have been soaring and not just within Pakistan but also within the expatriate community. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, in particular, spew alarming trending topics and fearsome reflections therein. Sectarian and ethnic militias go cyber through tools like ‘Telegram’ and ‘Signal’ much before any given sleuth, journalist or academic. Truly, the challenge of extremism and fanaticism is bewildering.

Despite their diminishing significance owing to changing trends and tools, madrassas remain an elephant in the room. Bizarrely, the regulation, moderation and mainstreaming have been tasks the executive served better with rhetoric than action may it be Musharraf, Zardari or Nawaz at the helm.

During over four years in power, Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N failed to take concrete steps in stemming soaring religious intolerance. An ill-advised decision of reviving the ‘Pakistan Madrassa Board’ has reduced the state’s role from regulator to a competitor, also seen as a giant step backwards…”

  14. Hatred on the rise among the Afghans, Karzai warns US (khaama, Sep 8, 2017)
    http://www.khaama.com/hatred-on-the-rise-among-the-afghans-karzai-warns-us-03391

“The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai strongly reacted at the airdrop of the offensive leaflets aimed at attracting the local support against the Taliban, calling it a psychological war against the Afghan people.

In a statement released by the Office of the former President, Karzai said the presence of the American forces and the violations committed by them has resulted into the growing hatred among the people which is on the rise on daily basis.

Karzai further added he strongly condemns the desecration of the holy verses of Islam in the leaflets.

He said by distributing the offensive leaflets, the American forces have started to play with the emotions and thinking of the Afghan people.

The former Afghan President also warned the United States that the silence of the Afghan people should not be mistaken as their weakness.

A US military official Gen. James Linder in a statement said Wednesday “The design of the leaflets mistakenly contained an image highly offensive to both Muslims and the religion of Islam.”

Gen. James further added “I sincerely apologize. We have the deepest respect for Islam and our Muslim partners worldwide.”

He said an investigation would be held “to determine the cause of this incident and to hold the responsible party accountable.””

    • So how much money does Karzai want now to shut up? I would have thought that he would have already been in Paris living on his country’s blood…

“A Maryland man today pleaded guilty to conspiring to support the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab, admitting that he travelled to Somalia to receive military training from the group.

Maalik Alim Jones, 32, entered his plea to three criminal counts before US District Judge Paul Gardephe in Manhattan. Jones admitted that he carried an AK-47 automatic assault rifle for Al-Shabaab, which is allied with Al-Qaeda.

“I knew that my actions were a violation of the laws of the United States,” he said.

As part of his plea, Jones agreed to give up the right to appeal any sentence less than 50 years. He faces up to life in prison.

  16. Red Cross chief warns of Gaza ‘crisis of hope’

Puhleeeese … that so-called “crisis of hope” began when a majority of Gazans voluntarily elected genocidal Hamas terrorists to lead them … if not decades earlier with the PLA.

The only meaningful “crisis of hope” is whether or not Israel will once-and-for-all tire of constant “Palestinian” hostilities and simply walk live artillery fire from north to south through Gaza whilst a trailing brigade of armored bulldozers finally flushes this gurgling raft of human effluent into the Sinai Peninsula for their fellow Egyptian Antisemites to love deal with.
