  1. ACLU backs down in face of Twitter’s wrath for pic of white baby holding US flag

The ACLU got a big lesson in political correctness after posting a photo of a white baby holding an American flag to its Twitter page — and has backed off after social media trolls accused the free-speech group of promoting Nazis.

“This is the future that ACLU members want,” the ACLU captioned a photo of a blonde baby wearing an ACLU “free speech” onesie and holding a small American flag.

That was all it took. A flurry of tweets from ACLU followers slammed the group, suggesting it was being racially insensitive and even likening the post to pro-Nazi commentary.

  2. First grader sent to office for ‘misgendering’ fellow student

A first grader at a California charter school was sent to the principal’s office this week after she accidentally “misgendered” a classmate in what’s being called a “pronoun mishap.”

The incident occurred at Rocklin Academy, a school roiled by controversy after a kindergarten teacher led an in-class discussion on transgenderism that included a “gender reveal” for a little boy who was transitioning to a little girl.

Parents were furious because they were not informed in advance and were not given the chance to opt their five-year-olds from the classroom transgender activity. However, school leaders informed moms and dads – they were not allowed to opt-out – and the state did not require them to notify parents.

The latest incident occurred during the first week of school when a first grader came across a classmate on the playground. She called the student by his given name – apparently unaware that the boy now identified as a girl.

“This innocent little first grader sees a classmate, calls him by the name she knew him last year and the boy reports it to a teacher,” Capitol Resource Institute’s Karen England told me. “The little girl gets in trouble on the playground and then gets called out of class to the principal’s office.”

  3. Late rock legend J. Geils’ collection of cars and bikes to be auctioned at Pebble Beach

    J. Geils may be best known for some of his band’s iconic rock hits of the 1980s, but he was also absolutely an automotive and motorcycle enthusiast with exquisite taste. Specifically, he had quite a penchant for high-end Italian cars and motorcycles.

The J. Geils Band guitarist passed away in his home earlier this year, but now his collection of precious Italian cars and bikes will be auctioned off at Pebble Beach at Mecum’s Daytime Auction. In total, eight vehicles from Geils’ collection will cross the block and collectors may be enthused to hear they will each be sold without a reserve.

Mecum will see off Geils’ 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2, which boasts the original 3.0-liter V-12 engine with 5-speed transmission, a 1967 Lancia Flamina 2.8 3C, and a 1967 Fiat Dino Spyder. Both the Lancia and Fiat Dino also remain in extraordinary condition. Those looking to go home with a two-wheeled purchase will have the chance to bid on Geils’ 1983 Benelli 900 SEI, a 1976 MV Agusta 125 SS, and a 1970 Ducati 350 Desmo. Additionally, five of Geils’ personal racing suits will be auctioned off as well.

The auction will also include a handful of other rarities not associated with the rock star, such as 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita and a 1958 Lister-Jaguar “Knobbly.” A corral of Ferrari LaFerraris and even Bugatti Veyrons will also cross the block.

NorseRadish: Dammit all! Aside from one of my greatest musical heroes, Jeff Beck, J. Geils was one of the few other rock performers that could play a fretless guitar.

  5. Venezuela to stage war games in warning to Trump

    CARACAS (AFP) –

Venezuela kicks off two days of military drills on Saturday in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat of military action and newly announced sanctions on the crisis-stricken nation.

Trump warned on August 11 that the United States was mulling a range of options against Venezuela, “including a possible military option if necessary.”

His Vice President Mike Pence later played down the threat, insisting that Washington was prioritizing a diplomatic solution and economic sanctions.

National security advisor HR McMaster followed suit, saying “no military actions are anticipated in the near future.”

  6. Fate of transgender already in military unclear under order

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday directed the Pentagon to extend indefinitely a ban on transgender individuals joining the military, but he appeared to leave open the possibility of allowing some already in uniform to remain.

Trump gave Defense Secretary Jim Mattis authority to decide the matter of openly transgender individuals already serving, and he said that until the Pentagon chief makes that decision, “no action may be taken against” them.

The Obama administration in June 2016 had changed longstanding policy, declaring that troops could serve openly as transgender individuals. And it set a July 2017 deadline for determining whether transgender people could be allowed to enter the military. Mattis delayed that to Jan. 1, 2018, and Trump has now instructed Mattis to extend it indefinitely.

  7. Google Issuing Refunds to Advertisers Over Fake Traffic, Plans New Safeguard
Some advertisers question level of refunds, want more details about fraudulent traffic

Google is issuing refunds for ads that ran on websites with fake traffic, people familiar with the situation said, as the web giant develops a tool to give marketers more transparency about the ads they buy through its platform.

In the past few weeks, the Alphabet Inc. unit has informed hundreds of marketers and ad agency partners about the issue with invalid traffic, known in the industry as “ad fraud.” The ads were bought using the company’s DoubleClick Bid Manager over the course of a few months this year, primarily in the second quarter.

Google’s refunds amount to only a fraction of the cost of the ads served to invalid traffic, which has left some advertising executives unsatisfied, the people familiar with the situation said. Google has offered to reimburse its “platform fee,” which ad buyers said typically ranges from about 7% to 10% of their total purchase.

LA’s response to homeless encampments ‘isn’t working,’ councilman says

Amid rising homelessness and mounting outcry from residents and business owners, a Los Angeles city councilman said Wednesday he wants to take a hard look at the way the city responds to the increasing presence of encampments and recreational vehicles.

“What we have isn’t working,” Councilman Mitchell Englander said.

In recent months, the issue of homelessness has become inescapable, with residents encountering more homelessness in their neighborhoods, according to the councilman, who represents the northwest San Fernando Valley.

“There’s not a conversation I have — whether it’s fixing a street, trimming a tree, walking to school or going to a grocery store — where we don’t talk about homelessness,” he said.

  9. Vatican No. 2: Anti-pope jihadist attack threat is worrying

ROME (AP) — Pope Francis’ top aide says a pro-Islamic State group video that targets the pope is worrying but notes Vatican security is already at a high level.

Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy See’s No. 2 official, told reporters Saturday that a day earlier he had seen the video, which indicates the pope is a target. Recently, another video, transmitted on the pro-IS Telegram channel, suggested that Italy is the next target of an extremist attack.

Parolin said: “Obviously, one cannot help but worry, above all for the senseless hatred that it is.” But he said the Vatican hasn’t added more measures to its already high security.

The Vatican, headquarters of the Catholic church, and Italy have been indicated previously as possible targets of Islamist extremism.

Advertisers are so worried about being accused of racism or homophobia they are shying away from using images of white people and straight couples.

Marketing departments are even putting diversity above relevance to their target audience to avoid accusations of bigotry, a survey of 500 companies has found.

Neuralink Corp., the startup co-founded by billionaire Elon Musk, has taken steps to sell as much as $100 million in stock to fund the development of technology that connects human brains with computers.

The San Francisco-based company has already gotten $27 million in funding, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Musk said via Twitter on Friday that Neuralink isn’t seeking outside investors. A spokesman didn’t respond to questions about the source of the funds.

PISTOIA, Italy — Caterina Pani grew up immersed in the life of a left-wing town in the Tuscan hills that prides itself on its devotion to helping those in need. So she was flabbergasted this summer when her fellow citizens elected an anti-migrant mayor, the city’s first right-wing leader since World War II.

The community has turned against the asylum seekers who have been setting sail toward Italy in search of a better life. The new mayor is talking about barring the way to fresh arrivals. Pani’s old neighbors are campaigning against a proposed migrant reception center in their midst. And a priest who dared to shelter an undocumented Ghanaian man was slapped with a fine for failing to tip off authorities to his presence.

  14. N. Korea to Develop Stronger Nuclear Missile, Japan to Impose More Sanctions

New reports suggest North Korea is developing a stronger type of nuclear missile.

Weapons experts say Pyongyang is sending a message relaying it’s working on an ICBM more powerful than any it has previously tested.

The reports come after state media published photos of Kim Jong Un standing next to a diagram of a three-stage rocket.

Missile experts say there’s no indication the rocket has been fully developed, but such a weapon could strike all of the U.S. mainland.

Meanwhile, Japan says it will impose additional sanctions on North Korea.

The country’s chief cabinet secretary announced Japan intends to freeze assets of six more North Korean organizations as well as two individuals with ties to Pyongyang and Beijing.

Just this week Kim Jong Un ordered more solid fuel rocket engines.

He’s continuing to pursue his nuclear agenda despite several calls to cease the country’s missile program.

  15. Defiant Merkel takes on protestors at rowdy campaign rally

QUEDLINBURG, Germany (Reuters) – Chancellor Angela Merkel stood up to rowdy protestors who tried to drown out her campaign speech with deafening jeers and whistles in the eastern town of Quedlinburg on Saturday, telling them that their angry shouts would not solve Germany’s problems.

Amid chants of “Merkel just go” and “Liar, liar” that demonstrators strongly opposed to her refugee policies kept up for the entire 30-minute address, Merkel departed from her stump speech three times.

“I hope you were able to understand some of that even though some of you out there kept on yelling,” a glum-looking Merkel said near the end of her speech to 1,500 people.

“Some believe the problems in Germany can be fixed by screaming – but I don’t think so and the majority of the people here don’t think so either,” said Merkel, who is seeking a fourth term in office and is the heavy favorite to win the Sept. 24 election.

“Some people can’t do anything else but scream and shout – but we’re not going to let them lead us astray.”

  16. Swamp closes in? Sebastian Gorka said to be out
    By J.E. Dyer August 25, 2017

ews has broken in the last hour that Sebastian Gorka is resigning his post as Deputy Assistant to the President. If the news is accurate — and multiple outlets are reporting it — it appears that the scale has effectively tipped against any meaningful change in U.S. national security policy.

After Steve Bannon left last week, Gorka’s was the sole remaining voice in the Trump inner circle for strategic change. Although I have never thought we needed to prioritize everything Bannon and Gorka considered vital, I do think they – along with Michael Flynn – represented the realistic hope there was to get us out of the JCPOA trap with Iran.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/08/25/swamp-closes-sebastian-gorka-said/

    • Be sure and read the entire article.

My take, we are semi screwed by Gorka and Bannon leaving the administration. This is because they were the last of the free thinkers who were willing to think outside the box when it came to national security issues. She doesn’t think this will matter on such things as facing down Kim or handling the problem in Korea but that the new team is going to resist all ideas about changing the deal with Iran (a deal they aren’t keeping). She is also afraid that we are going to stop using the Trump Doctrine in fighting wars and instead of looking for friends and allies we are going to be turning to the system Russia and China use, making Client States the deep state in its socialist big government way is turning us into the Empire they have always claimed we are.

The above actions aren’t going to prevent the left from continuing to try and carry out their coup and start a civil war but they are going to modify our goals in the coming World War. This is making the outcome of the civil war even more important for the survival of freedom in what use to be Western Civilization.

  17. Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore police commissioner admit heavy policing keeps violence down
By LU Staff August 26, 2017

What a shocker! Allowing police to do the job they are hired to do helps keep violent crime at bay. Who woulda guessed? How about everybody in the history of the world, beginning with the Chinese, who in 771 B.C. initiated the use of “prefects” to keep the peace.

Make that everybody but Barack Obama, who declared police to be a corrupt lot who preyed on innocent people of color and ordered his Attorney General to launch an investigation into the forces of several major urban centers.

One of the cities investigated was Baltimore, where police were ordered to “stand down” even in life-or-death situations. As a result, the murder rate in Charm City soared. In July 2015, the city witnessed 45 murders, making it the deadliest month ever in the city’s history.

The out-of-control situation has prompted some of the city elders to look at years past, when crime was down, and examine variables that might have changed, accounting for the dramatic rise in violent crime. What they discovered has prompted Baltimore state attorney Marilyn (“I Hear Your Calls for No Justice, No Peace”) Mosby and Police Commissioner Kevin Davis to concede that the difference between then and now is the use of heavy policing tactics.

By Ben Bowles August 25, 2017

The sanctuary city in California refused to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials after they expressed an interest in an illegal alien Santa Rosa police had in custody. Instead, the city released the man, 38-year-old Nery Israel Estrada-Margos. Two weeks later he murdered his girlfriend.

    According to The Press-Democrat:

Estrada-Margos … turned himself in at the Santa Rosa police station just before 7 a.m. Friday, telling authorities that he had beaten his girlfriend after an argument and feared she might be dead, police said.

Santa Rosa police officers went to the Russell Avenue apartment that Estrada-Margos shared with the victim, Veronica Cabrera Ramirez, 42, and found her body.

Estrada-Margos was booked in Sonoma County Jail on murder charges Friday. An autopsy for Cabrera Ramirez is scheduled today by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.

  19. CNN has made no attempt to retract or modify a Wednesday report that calls all supporters of President Donald Trump “white supremacists by default.”

The report stakes its weighty claims about the moral character of Trump supporters on the word of “activists, historians and victims of extremism,” who argue that “ordinary people” have empowered white supremacists.

“It’s easy to focus on the angry white men in paramilitary gear who looked like they were mobilizing for a race war in the Virginia college town,” the report reads. “But it’s the ordinary people — the voters who elected a reality TV star with a record of making racially insensitive comments, the people who move out of the neighborhood when people of color move in, the family members who ignore a relative’s anti-Semitism — who give these type of men room to operate.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation received no response after contacting multiple CNN public relations employees, politics editors, and the writer who authored the report, to inquire as to whether the network stands by the story.

Much of the report rests on the extensive conclusions drawn by Fordham University professor and political activist Mark Naison, who wasted no time in issuing a stinging indictment of the character of all Trump supporters.

They are moving the Civil War up a notch, now antifa doesn’t have to wait until there is a pro freedom rally to commit their violent acts, they can now attack anyone wearing pro Trump and pro freedom clothing any time they see them.

“Four police officials, four paramilitary soldiers and two suspected militants were killed Saturday after anti-India rebels in Kashmir stormed a heavily guarded police camp in the disputed Himalayan region, triggering daylong fighting, police said.

Heavily armed gunmen entered the camp in southern Pulwama town early Saturday firing guns and grenades at the sentry, said Director-General of police S.P. Vaid. In the initial attack, a policeman was killed and four other personnel, including a paramilitary soldier, were wounded.

Vaid said police and paramilitary soldiers responded to the attack while a reinforcement of army soldiers and counterinsurgency police encircled the camp. In the ensuing firefight inside the camp, three policemen and four paramilitary soldiers were killed, Vaid said.

He said that government forces evacuated dozens of police families.

Another police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity in keeping with department policy, said troops recovered the bodies of two suspected militants. He said troops were searching a building in the sprawling camp for another militant.

One building also was torched in the fighting.

“Boko Haram extremists killed at least 27 people by shooting them and slitting their throats as they attacked several villages in northern Nigeria’s Borno state in the past week, residents said.

Such deadly attacks in recent months have pressured Nigeria’s government to increase its efforts against a homegrown Islamic extremist group it last year declared to be “crushed.”

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201708261056817350-turkey-syrian-border-trucks/

“Ankara has sent ten trucks loaded with armored vehicles and artillery to reinforce its military presence in the country’s province of Kilis, located in the immediate vicinity of the Turkey-Syria border, local media reported Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The convoy carried tanks and howitzers, which are expected to back Turkish troops deployed in the southern province bordering Syrian territory held by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the Hurriyet newspaper reported.

Ankara considers YPG to be affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a designated terrorist group in Turkey, the United States and the European Union. YPG controls Syria’s northern region of Afrin, which borders Kilis.

??The YPG, among other organizations banned by Ankara, has been receiving support from the United States in fighting the Daesh terror group (outlawed in Russia). The actions of US authorities were opposed by Turkey and led to disagreements between Washington and Ankara.

On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his disapproval over Washington’s support of the YPG during his talks with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis. On Friday, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim warned that the United States’ continued support for the YPG may become a “problem” for bilateral relations.”

An emotional protest against terrorism took place yesterday (August 25) in the Spanish town of Rubi, near Barcelona.

Xavi’s father Javier shared a tender moment with the local imam, Dris Salym, who started crying crocodile tears as the pair hugged.

      There, fixed that.

The only genuine tears that Islam allows a devout Muslim to shed over this and other jihadist massacres are hot tears of rage that many more unbelievers weren’t slaughtered. Everything else is just window dressing intended to lull new batches of victims into a false sense of security.

At some point, the non-Islamic world is finally going to come to terms with the fact that taqiyya makes it totally impossible to accept even the most reasonable-sounding utterances of any Muslim.

I realize that this damns the brave work of decent individuals like Zuhdi Jasser, but the price tag for trusting Muslims of almost any stripe is simply too high. Far better that all unbelievers gather their wits and refuse to give Islam even the slightest benefit of the doubt than continue with this endless “religion of peace” Kabuki theater.

Though this may seem harsh, it is merely a case of reciprocity with regard to passages in the Koran that forbid all sincere friendships with non-Muslims. Islam must be isolated and treated as a pariah amongst all other civilized nations. The penalty for not doing so is the near-continuous slaughter we currently are seeing in Europe.

  27. SPAIN – ‘Not afraid,’ proclaim thousands at defiant Barcelona anti-terror march

Spain’s King Felipe VI joined thousands of people in a defiant march against terror through Barcelona on Saturday following last week’s deadly vehicle rampages.

People who tended the victims of the attack were given pride of place at the front of the procession behind a large white- and-black banner that read “No tinc por” — Catalan for “I’m not afraid”.

They included uniformed police officers, doctors in their white coats, firefighters wearing their helmets and residents and shop owners who rushed to help after a van struck people on the Las Ramblas avenue, as well as taxi drivers who transported people free.

“Its good that people see that we are the front of march and that we are no afraid,” said Barbara Cabello, 22, who works at one of the flower stands on Las Ramblas, a symbol of the city.

The marchers carried red, yellow and white flowers — the colours of Barcelona — as they made their way along the city’s main boulevard, the Paseo de Gracia, to the Plaza de Catalunya, near where the attack took place.

“No to Islamophobia” and “The best response: Peace” were among the signs on display at the march, which was broadcast live on Spanish public television.

The Mediterranean city is in mourning after a driver ploughed into crowds on Las Ramblas on August 17, followed hours later by a car attack in the seaside resort town of Cambrils.

Fifteen were killed in the carnage and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy had called on Spaniards to turn out in force to show their “love” and solidarity with Catalonia.

The march will “once again give a clear message of unity and condemnation of terrorism, and of love for the city of Barcelona,”, Rajoy said on the eve of the demonstration.

    ‘Love’ for Barcelona

King Felipe VI marched along Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and representatives of all of Spain’s major political parties behind the first ranks.

He is the first Spanish sovereign to take part in a demonstration since the monarchy was re-established in 1975 after the death of dictator General Francisco Franco.

But both the king and Rajoy were jeered as they arrived at the march by Catalan separatists, who reject the monarchy and hope to set up an independent republic.

In the aftermath of the attacks, however, which were claimed by the Islamic State group, Rajoy and Catalonia’s separatist president Carles Puigdemont have made a show of unity.

    Ode to peace

Europe has been shaken by a series of deadly Islamist violence, with an increasing number of low-tech attacks using vehicles or knives — sometimes both — as weapons.

On Friday evening, a man was shot dead in central Brussels after stabbing a soldier while shouting “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest), and shortly afterwards a man with a large knife attacked police in London as they tried to arrest him outside Buckingham Palace.

Already on Friday evening, thousands of people had marched against terror in Cambrils.

Saray Gomez, an 18-year-old who works at a flower stall right next to where the van ended its murderous rampage, said it was important “to give a message of unity and peace.”

“And it’s important to distinguish between Islam and jihadists, because Muslims are the first to be affected.”

When the march arrived at Plaza de Catalunya near Las Ramblas, two cellists played “Cant dels ocells” (Song of the birds), a traditional Catalan melody which has become a symbol of peace.

It was famously played by the celebrated cellist Pau (Pablo) Casals, an outspoken opponent of the Franco regime, at the White House in 1961.

Marches were also held in cities around Spain, including Madrid, Valencia and Vigo.

  28. DAILY MAIL – Revealed: Buckingham Palace terror suspect drove at police and yelled ‘Allahu akbar!’ while reaching for 4ft sword before three unarmed hero officers wrestled him to the ground and disarmed him with CS spray

[…]’We believe the man was acting alone and we are not looking for other suspects at this stage.

‘While we cannot speculate on what the man was intending to do – this will be determined during the course of the investigation – it is only right that we investigate this as a terrorist incident at this time.

  29. Finland: Nationalist and antifa protesters face off in Helsinki following Turku attack

Nationalist and anti-fascist demonstrators faced-off in Helsinki’s market square on Saturday in response to the recent stabbing in the city of Turku which left two people dead and injured a further eight.

Nationalists marched with Finnish flags to Kesäranta, the official residence of the Finnish Prime Minister, where they lay candles, before continuing on to the city centre where they were met by a counter-protest of anarchists and anti-racist activists.

Anti-immigrant activist Marco de Wit contested what he saw as the biased actions of the police: “I was attacked by an anarchist,” he said “but the police did not care about it at all. They just took away the nationalist photographer [Junes Lokka] who was doing nothing because they want to portray the nationalists as dangerous.”

  30. Oh, the irony of it! Mommy Merkel, after greatly contributing to the invasion of (at least) thousands of Islamists and many more potential Islamists in the future, and kindly giving European countries to non-Europeans, says we need to unite to fight against Islamic terrorism!

Rome: Riots between migrants and the police. One of the “refugees” threw a can of gas from a building.

Scenes of riots in the heart of Rome. Italian police used water cannons and truncheons against 100 migrants who occupied Independence Square on Saturday. A squatt in protest against a notice of expulsion.

One of the refugees threw a gasoline can from a building. In the square, migrants have projected various objects in the direction of the forces of order.
Last Saturday, some 800 squatters were evicted from an adjoining building that they had occupied for five years. Most of these migrants are Eritreans to whom asylum has already been granted but who have, for the most part, refused housing offered by the municipality.
The police said they intervened after being informed of the intention of some migrants to resort to Molotov cocktails.

A fire was even declared in the square. The flames were quickly extinguished. Police officers received stones, bottles and were sprayed with tear gas.
    Two people arrested

  34. ITALY – ROME – Marchers protest police eviction of asylum-seekers in Rome

ROME — Several thousand asylum-seekers, other migrants and supporters have marched through Rome to protest Italian police’s recent evictions of migrant camps.

Some carried a banner Saturday proclaiming themselves “refugees not terrorists.”

On Thursday, police used water cannons to clear out 100 asylum-seekers, most of them from Ethiopia or Eritrea, from a Rome square. Authorities had already cleared out most of the 800 migrants who had been squatting in a building near the square since 2013.

Human rights advocates and the U.N. refugee agency protested that the evictions were conducted without warning.

Many asylum-seekers sleep on the streets of Rome for lack of housing.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants rescued at sea have arrived in Italy in the last few years. Some Italian towns are refusing to take in any more.

  36. Temple Mount Terror Attack Was Muslim Brotherhood Operation, Shin Bet Says

According to a Shin Bet statement, last month’s terror attack on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount that killed two Israeli Druze police officers was directly aided by a mosque official tied to the banned “Islamic Movement” — the Muslim Brotherhood affiliate in Israel.

    ====================================

Arab Israeli man charged with aiding Temple Mount terrorists

Shin Bet says investigation of deadly shooting attack uncovered connections between the gunmen and banned Northern Branch of Islamic Movement

An Arab Israeli man was indicted Thursday for assisting the three gunmen who killed two police officers just outside the Temple Mount compound last month.

The Shin Bet security service said the suspect, 35-year-old Amjad Muhammad Ahmad Jabarin from the city of Umm al-Fahm, transported the three terrorists to Jerusalem, spoke with them about their plans ahead of time, and “even offered to join them in carrying out the attack on at least two occasions.”

During his interrogation, Jabarin also revealed connections between the three terrorists — all of them named Muhammad Jabarin from Umm al-Fahm — and the outlawed Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement, the Shin Bet said.

On July 14, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the three gunmen, all of whom were named Muhammad Jabarin, arrived at the Temple Mount from Umm al-Fahm for prayers with guns and a knife hidden under their clothes. The weapons had been smuggled into the site by an accomplice.

They remained at the holy site for four hours, before walking out toward the Muslim Quarter. Just after 7:00 a.m., they opened fire at two Israel Police officers, Haiel Sitawe, 30, and Kamil Shnaan, 22, who were stationed at one of the entrances to the Temple Mount, killing them. Other police officers on the scene shot back at the terrorists, killing them.

Amjad Jabarin was arrested on July 23, nine days after the attack. On Thursday, he was formally charged in a Haifa District Court as an accessory to murder.

According to the indictment, Jabarin trained with the terrorists ahead of the attack, joining them when they went to practice shooting their improvised “Carlo” submachine guns.

The night before the attack, he also drove the three to a soccer field in Umm al-Fahm, which served as a pickup point for a shuttle to the Temple Mount, knowing that they were armed and planning to carry out the shooting, according to the charges against him.

After the attack, Jabarin also hid some of the killers’ belongings — cellphones and keys to a car — which they’d given him beforehand, according to the indictment.

The Shin Bet said the men came together to plan their attack at the mosque in Umm al-Fahm’s al-Malsa’a neighborhood.

“The findings of the investigation pointed to a clear link between the al-Malsa’a mosque and the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement, which was declared an illegal organization in November 2015 and is now considered a terrorist organization,” the agency said.

The Shin Bet noted that one of the gunmen was responsible for maintenance at the mosque and served as its muezzin, the person who performs the call to prayer.

According to the indictment against Amjad Jabarin, he also used his position in the mosque to hide two of the guns used in the attack inside the building.

“In addition, connections were found between the assailants and the Islamic Movement, including support for the ideas put out by the movement and through their involvement in organizations that have clear links to the Islamic Movement,” the Shin Bet said.

As an example, the agency noted that the terrorist who served as the al-Malsa’a mosque’s muezzin was once active in the Mourabitoun, a group that often clashed with Israeli security forces on the Temple Mount and was declared illegal in September 2015 over its ties to the Islamic Movement and Hamas.

In addition to the accessory to murder charge, Amjad Jabarin was also indicted for being an accessory to a terror attack, using a weapon for the purposes of terror, obstruction of justice and planning to commit a crime.

The Temple Mount attack led to weeks of instability in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Following the Friday morning shooting, Israel shut down the complex for the rest of the day — something that hadn’t been done on a Friday, the most popular day for Muslim prayer, in nearly 50 years.

When the site reopened two days later, police had installed metal detectors at the entrances to the holy site, which local Muslim officials decried as attempts to change the status quo. The weeks that followed saw numerous bloody clashes between police and East Jerusalemites, who refused to pass through the detectors and instead held at times violent protests outside the Old City.

A degree of calm was restored to the capital after the government agreed to remove the metal detectors and other security measures from the entrances to the Temple Mount on July 25.
