  1. FOOD FOR THOUGHT

If “Islamophobia” is allowed to be defined as a form of “racism”, isn’t long overdue to label political intolerance as a form of “racism” as well?

Both Islam and political intolerance are equally irrelevant to the issue of race. Although it would be far better to eliminate such idiotic conflation of Islam and race, if this sort of lunacy is permitted to persist, then let’s make these morons eat their words and have political intolerance declared to be a form of “racism”.

RUSSIA’S president Vladimir Putin is reinforcing his border with North Korea by relocating troops and equipment, according to reports.

The move comes as Donald Trump’s naval armada prepares to head to the Korean Peninsula.

Video footage is said to show one of three trains loaded with military equipment moving towards the 11 mile-long land frontier between Russia and the repressive state.

Another scene shows military helicopter appearing to move towards the North Korean border and manoeuvres across rough terrain by army combat vehicles.

Other reports suggest there have been military moves by road as well.

But Putin has been warned, too, that in the event of a US strike on Kim Jong-un’s nuclear facilities, contamination could swiftly reach Russia.

“Railway trains loaded with military equipment moving towards Primorsky region via Khabarovsk have been noticed by locals,” reported primemedia.ru in the Russian far East – linking the development to the North Korean crisis.

“The movement of military equipment by different means of transport to southern areas is being observed across Primorsky region over the past week,” said military veteran Stanislva Sinitsyn.

“Many relate this to the situation in the Korean peninsula.

“The video shows artillery systems that either support troops in assault or meet the aggressor.”

He said: “The movement of military equipment means that authorities of our country are keeping up with the situation – and take appropriate measures.”

The movements were “a preventive but necessary” measure.

“If the situation worsens, especially related to military events, the armed forces of all the neighbouring countries obviously monitor it more closely, and we are no exception.

“It is not the first time that North Korea has broken the peace in the region, that’s why this situation deserves attention.”

    • Is Putin bluffing or is he serious? It is unlikely that South Korea would try and take any territory belonging to either China our Russia. I know China is paranoid about having any type of enemy state on its borders and wants buffer zones consisting of puppet regimes in conquered nations. Russia is also paranoid about its borders and may be protecting NORK for this reason, ot they may be bluffing and have no intention of doing anything.

During the Cubam Missile Crisis Khrushchev sent empty ships to bluff Kennedy and Kennedy folded and let the USSR have a victory were we removed missiles from Turkey and promised not to attack Cuba while Castro was alive. This incident must be kept in mind when we look at what China and Russia are doing. Are t hey bluffing? Are the ready to go toe to toe with the US and possibly cause a nuclear war? Neither nation wants to be destroyed anymore then the US does so they may be bluffing. My guess is that Russi and China are bluffing and won’t do anything as long as South Korea doesn’t get too close to the borders.

Or are they waiting for the anti-American left to win a bloodless victory for them like they won a bloody victory for them in Nam?

        • He has also positioned himself to be ready to step in if war comes and China moves against us, the qustion is which side would he support. Although I still say he will set it out because this will give him a freer hand in Syria and Iraq.

  3. Revealed: The ‘very, very important’ people coming to NZ
    3:56 PM Thursday Apr 20, 2017

The highly secretive meeting being held in Queenstown this weekend is a gathering of intelligence and security agencies related to the Five Eyes spying network, the Herald understands.

Among the people believed to be attending are Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Mike Pompeo.

It is understood about 15 agencies which carry out intelligence for Five Eyes – the spying partnership of the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand – are attending the conference.

In a statement released yesterday, a spokesman for Prime Minister Bill English confirmed a number of senior officials were coming for a conference hosted by the Government, but would not reveal what the conference was.

  4. The Rise Of The Social Media Killer
For narcissistic killers, these platforms present a unique opportunity to control the narrative

This week, the nation tuned in as hundreds of news outlets reported that an Ohio man was still on the loose after killing an elderly stranger named Robert Godwin Sr. and posting the footage on Facebook on Monday. Steven Stephens, the killer who quickly became the subject of a nationwide manhunt, was found dead in an apparent suicide on Tuesday, but only after becoming the ringleader of a media circus he had orchestrated.

In his infamy, Stephens is not alone by any stretch, following in the footsteps of many others. Older technologies and even newspapers have been used by killers to promote their acts. Now, the phenomenon of “social media killings” is slowly becoming more frequent — especially as these platforms introduce new ways for users to engage their followers or the public in real-time, or close to it.

We saw it in 2015, when a Virginia man gunned down two former coworkers as they filmed a live broadcast and immediately posted the footage to his Twitter and Facebook pages. Similarly, another Virginia-based murderer who killed her father-in-law months earlier gained notoriety when she posted a selfie with the bloody knife. These stories, like Stephens’, were covered widely, with special detail paid to the horror that unfolded before virtual “witnesses” on their screens. Going even further back, an 18-year-old “MySpace killer” made headlines after she confessed on the social media site: “I just fucking killed someone,” describing it as being “pretty enjoyable.”

  5. (This one is about what is going on and how the Propaganda Media got played by the leaders who will do anything to make President Trump look bad. The advice in the article about how we must not expect the President to do what we want when he acts is the best I have heard. He is gong to do what he thinks is best based on the information he has been receiving, not what you want but what he things is best. This is what he was elected to do and while we don’t have to like what he does or even thing he is doing the right thing we do have to understand that he is using his judgement just as we expected him to do when he was elected.)(/strong)

Iran, and the Great Korea Carrier Caper: What if Trump is not an idiot?
    By J.E. Dyer April 19, 2017

To begin with, here, let’s clarify that “Trump not being an idiot” doesn’t mean “Trump plans to do what you or I want him to do.”

It means he intends to do what he wants to do, and is prepping the battlespace for his campaign.

So it’s necessary to set aside for the moment what you think is the right thing to do, and analyze the operational character of the activity we see from Trump. It’s been a long time since we’ve had an actual strategist in the Oval Office.

It would be too much to try to cinemascope the entire landscape of global crises in one post. But it’s necessary to introduce the very important idea that what you see the Trump administration doing isn’t as random and unconnected as it looks. I’m not saying I know these things for certain, but I am certain that the alternative view merits consideration.

So: consider that Trump and his inner circle see things as interconnected, and have reasons for their actions.

I’ll look just at two events of the last 24 hours. One is the letter Rex Tillerson has sent to Congress, certifying – laughably – that Iran is in compliance with the 2015 JCPOA; that is, the so-called “Iran deal.”

  6. France: PS offices TRASHED in Paris as anarcho-students rail at elections

The office of the Socialist Party (PS) in Rue Francois Miron in Paris was vandalised, Thursday, as around a hundred high school students took to the streets of the French capital to protest against the upcoming presidential elections.

The glass of the front door of the office was shattered and its window sprayed with graffiti criticising the Socialists for their complicity with the French security services.

The protesters also alleged to have vandalised the premises of a local school, Sophie German Lyceum, in Rue de Jouy, where they blocked the doors of the building with rubbish bins.

  7. Syria: Bus explosion survivors recall attack

Survivors of the bus attack that left over 100 people dead described what happened when buses carrying civilians from the besieged towns of Fua and Kefraya to the safety of government-controlled areas of were destroyed in a suicide bombing, speaking from Fua on Wednesday.

SOT, Aleppo resident (Arabic): “We haven’t seen them, we haven’t seen the white helmets. They are saying that the white helmets saved the people of Kafraya and Al-Fouaa. We stayed for two days on one loaf of bread, we could face the hunger, but children were crying from hunger, they were saying that why do you want to eat while the army is torturing them and sieging them, we are doing the same with you, but we haven’t seen anything like that, the army is treating them well. We stayed for whole two days and hunger killed our children, we asked them for a quarter of a loaf of bread for children, we can wait.”

SOT, Aleppo resident (Arabic): “No one aided them, the Red Crescent aided them only, they took them to field hospitals in Sarakeb and took some of the injured to Aleppo University Hospital when the explosion happened, the white helmets did not come nearby at all, they went far away.

SOT, Aleppo resident (Arabic): “They treated us very badly, they did not let us leave the buses. There were women and children with us, and closed the doors on us in the scorching weather, they did not let us drink water, they did not let anyone deliver us food, when the Red Crescent members tried to bring us bread, they let them give each child half a loaf of bread, they did not allow water on the busses, they closed the bus doors to prevent us from breathing, every hour or two they let women leave the buses for one or two minutes to breathe air, they did not let us urinate, their treatment was very bad.”

SOT, Aleppo resident (Arabic): “Let me tell you how it happened, the Turkish Red Crescent was far and the Syrian Red Crescent was far then a pickup car they threw chips bags on children, then the pickup car left and a van came and they did the same then the van left far away from children and children followed it, then one of them counted to three with his fingers and exploded the van, the Turkish and Syrian Red Crescent started aiding people and took them to field hospitals in Sarakeb, Turkey and on the boarders, the white helmets were not present, they gave each four people one loaf of bread, if women wanted to urinate, they shouted at them like animals and photographed us, when children went to bring water, they followed them and asked them how do you pay and how do the fast and told them that they are heretics, but by God’s we will be victorious, each child in Al-Fouaa is a victorious, we ask our state and nations that we want all the kidnaped people because they are our brothers eyes and heart, my heart is broken for my kidnapped wife and daughter and each kidnapped person from Al-Fouaa and Fafarya is like my wife and daughter, this is what we want from our state and all who support the Shiaa Muslims”

    • It’s disturbing to consider how many more Muslim women and children will have to die solely because they are “soft targets” for cowardly jihadists. Native American women used to take rapists out and stake them down to the ground. Then they proceeded to take thin seashells and scrape off every inch of exposed skin from their abuser.

Sooner or later, Muslim women (and older children) will need to figure out that they are nothing more than pawns and begin creating their own role by neutralizing the most violent men among them. Until then, they will merely be the most convenient victims (as Islam excels above all at killing Muslims).

This is why Islam is doomed. Nobody is safe from its clutches, not even the most devout (be they Sunni or Shiia). It’s just a matter of time before they join the ranks of victims.

  11. Palestinians: Hunger Strike or Smokescreen?

    by Bassam Tawil
    April 20, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10245/palestinians-hunger-strike

Palestinians have an old habit of settling internal scores by diverting their grievances and violence towards Israel. This practice is clear to those who have been monitoring developments in the Palestinian arena for the past decades. It is an integral part of the Palestinian strategy to undermine, isolate, delegitimize and destroy Israel.

Those less familiar with Palestinian culture and tactics, however, have difficulty understanding the Palestinian mindset. Officials in Washington, London, Paris and other Western capitals rarely meet the ordinary Palestinian, the “man on the street” who represents the authentic voice of the Palestinians.

Instead, these officials meet Palestinian politicians and academics from Ramallah — the “experts” who are actually accomplished con artists. Such Palestinians grasp the Western mindset very well, and use their understanding to twist Western officials any which way they want.

The Western reaction to the hunger strike declared on April 17 by Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails is a case in point. The strike was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, a senior Fatah official who is serving five life terms for his role in terror attacks against Israelis. Barghouti has been in prison for 15 years so far.

Remarkably, despite Barghouti’s long-term imprisonment, this is his first hunger strike, apparently despite the poor incarceration conditions that have supposedly driven him to this move. Or might there be some other factor behind Barghouti’s sudden acute discomfort?

“More than a dozen grenade and bomb attacks in southern Thailand killed two suspected insurgents whose explosives detonated unexpectedly, officials said Thursday.

Eight other civilians and officials were wounded in the Wednesday night violence, said Pramote Prom-in, a spokesman for Thailand’s Internal Security Operations Command. He identified the dead as “insurgent operation leaders.”

No group has claimed responsibility for the 13 attacks, which targeted police stations and checkpoints in 12 separate districts in Muslim-majority provinces in Thailand’s deep south.

Southern Thailand has been in the grip of a separatist insurgency in this predominantly Buddhist country for years. About 7,000 people have been killed since the conflict flared in 2004. The insurgents regularly carry out bombings and drive-by shootings of civilians and officials…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/watchdog-yemen-rebel-land-mines-killed-maimed-hundreds-46903546

“An international rights group on Thursday decried the use of land mines by Yemen’s Shiite rebels in the impoverished Arab country at war, saying they have killed and maimed hundreds of civilians and prevented many of the displaced from returning to their homes.

In a new report, Human Rights Watch said the rebels known as Houthis, who are allied with the forces of the country’s former president, have used land-mines in at least six provinces since March 2015, when a Saudi-led coalition launched its military campaign against them.

Steve Goose, director of the Arms Division at Human Rights Watch, said the Houthis and forces of Yemen’s ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh “have been flouting the land mine ban at the expense of Yemeni civilians.”

He added that Yemen had banned land mines two decades ago.

A statement of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, or EULEX, said Thursday that a police reservist, identified only as Z.V., was charged with war crimes against the civilian population while serving as a police reservist with the local authorities and at a detention center in northern Kosovo.

EULUX says the crimes “include brutal and unlawful killings, inhuman treatment causing immense suffering, application of measures of intimidation and terror, property confiscation, pillaging, and stealing of property.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/drought-hit-somalia-moving-closer-famine-aid-group-46907510

“Life-threatening child malnutrition rates are rising to alarming levels in drought-hit Somalia, the international aid group Save the Children said Thursday.

A new survey found “very critical” levels of severe malnutrition in two of six districts assessed in some of the worst affected parts of Somalia.

“We are on the brink of a massive catastrophe in Somalia with the death of three quarters of the country’s livestock, a rapid increase of children suffering severe malnutrition and the depletion of water stores in dozens of communities,” said Hassan Saadi Noor, Save the Children’s Somalia country director, who said he fears seeing “children dying in significant numbers.”

Less than 10 percent of children in Somalia are currently registered in a nutrition program according to the study, which warns that children could start dying “in the near future” unless immediate action is taken such as a major and rapid scaling up of feeding schemes.

“Donors have stepped up in recent months, however such is the scale of this crisis that even more funding is needed to address malnutrition directly, including improving access to food and water,” said Noor. “Children must be treated for malnutrition now … Famine is a distinct possibility for Somalia. It is an absolute travesty that this is even conceivable when just six years ago this same region was hit by a famine that killed over 250,000 people.”

The drought has left 6.2 million people – more than half of the population of Somalia – in need of immediate lifesaving assistance and a further 8.3 million in Kenya and Ethiopia are also need of urgent help, he said.”

“Egyptian forces killed 21 extremists, at least 19 of them in an airstrike, the military said Thursday, including three senior figures of the Islamic State group’s affiliate in the restive Sinai Peninsula.

The announcement came in two separate statements, with the military saying in the first that its air force killed 19 militants and destroyed four vehicles in northern and central Sinai. The statement was coupled with a video that showed its air force striking the vehicles and “terrorist strongholds.”

The second statement said two additional militants were killed and three injured in central Sinai. It also said security personnel seized two vehicles carrying large quantities of materials used to manufacture explosives. Both were passing through a tunnel that runs under the Suez Canal, according to the statement.

On its official Facebook page, the military published photos showcasing stacks of money and three men who had been arrested with the vehicles with their hands cuffed to their backs.

According to the military, one of the senior figures killed was responsible for conducting interrogations within the IS affiliate and another was in charge of a committee on religious affairs. The role of the third senior figure killed was not immediately clear…”

  20. NEW ZEALAND – Revealed: The ‘very, very important’ people coming to NZ

In a statement released yesterday, a spokesman for Prime Minister Bill English confirmed a number of senior officials were coming for a conference hosted by the Government, but would not reveal what the conference was

“Due to specific security requirements we cannot comment further at this time. However, as police have pointed out they are not aware of a visit to Queenstown by a current or former head of state.”

Speculation about the visit was sparked after the Otago Daily Times reported a “very, very important person” was set to arrive in the region and strong security measures were underway in preparation.

The ODT said it was understood the operation would continue for about a week with golf featuring on the itinerary.

Comey has in the centre of several high-profile controversies over the the last five months, firstly when he reopened an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server just before the US Presidential election, and more recently when his agency launched an investigation into Russia’s influence over the US election.

Visits by the top spies are usually kept under wraps, although former Prime Minister John Key last year disclosed the then US director of intelligence Jim Clapper was in town when asked why a US plane was at the military terminal in Wellington.

Clapper visited on his way to Australia for a Five Eyes conference.
It is not known which Government ministers are attending the Queenstown conference.
Minister for the Government Communications and Security Bureau (GCSB) and Security Intelligence Service (SIS) Chris Finlayson’s is expected to attend the conference.

A spokesman for Police Commissioner Mike Bush refused to comment.
Police Minister Paula Bennett is on holiday and will not be attending.

Comey was last in New Zealand in March 2016, when he met with Finlayson and Bush.

“BILL Gates has warned a biological terror attack more destructive than a nuclear attack could wipe out 30 million people.

The Microsoft founder warned terrorists could recreate diseases like smallpox to wreak havoc in the heart of the West.

Speaking ahead of a speech at the Royal United Services Institute in London, the billionaire said: “Bioterrorism is a much larger risk than a pandemic.

“All these advances in biology have made it far easier for a terrorist to recreate smallpox, which is a highly fatal pathogen, where there is essentially no immunity remaining at this point…”

  22. GREEK CRISIS: Athens to miss key bailout target as Juncker gets his sums WRONG (express, Apr 20, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/794301/Greece-bailout-IMF-tax-austerity-Alexis-Tsipras-Jean-Claude-Juncker

“GREECE’S financial problems are not going anywhere as the country’s government gets set to miss a key bailout target.

The IMF warned Athens will fail to meet its primary budget surplus next year in stark contradiction to European Commission estimates.

And the Washington-based fund says Greek government revenues will decline sharply next year and could require them to have a fourth bail out.

The citizens of Greece have been pulling money out of their accounts over fears of yet another run on banks.

Capital outflows are leaking out of the country’s banks at rates not seen for 16 years with worried citizens removing billions since the start of the year.

Last month business and household deposits fell to 119.07 billion euros (£100 billion), the lowest amount since October 2001, from 119.75 billion euros in January, when they decreased by £1.36 billion.

Protestors feeling the true cost of the debt crisis have been on the streets on an almost weekly basis as PM Alexis Tsipras tries to paper the cracks.

But now the IMF, during its Spring conference, says the country’s position is nothing like what the European Commission, led by chief eurocrat Jean-Claude Juncker, has been predicting.

Athens surplus will increase marginally to two per cent next year a whole 1.5 per cent off its target 3.5 rate.

And more worryingly analysts say that a recent boost to revenues is “temporary”.

Vitor Gaspar, director of fiscal affairs at the IMF said: “The surplus in 2016 is likely to have been much stronger than we had expected.

“But that was largely due to temporary factors.”

In a report published yesterday the IMF downplayed the country’s revenues expectations from 50.3 per cent of national income to 47.3 per cent.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/794289/European-economist-Hans-Werner-Sinn-for-reforms-Europe-migration-euro-for-EU

“A LEADING European economist is calling on Brussels to scrap the Euro in a bid to save the bloc from crumbling under its financial woes.

Hans-Werner Sinn says this reform, along with restricting the freedom of movement and inclusion of migrants into welfare states, is of vital importance.

He said if the EU is to survive, leaders need to implement four important reforms – including a temporary halt on using the euro.

And, those member states who do not comply, should be forced to leave the European Union in the worst case.

Mr Werner-Sinn wrote in a column in German newspaper Wirtschafts Worts: “Some countries of the eurozone are hard hit by the euro because they can no longer devalue.

“They have been suffering for many years from mass unemployment and a lasting deterioration of their industries.

“These countries should be given the possibility of an orderly exit from the euro as well as a depreciation, combined with the right to return to the monetary union after a recovery of the economy.”

And he argues that, while there is no question the Treaty of Rome, signed on 25 March 1957, brought Europe peace and prosperity for decades it must be updated to handle today’s challenges…”

  25. The Anti-Free Speech Movement
    UC Berkeley’s gravediggers of freedom.
    April 20, 2017
    Frontpage Editors

UC Berkeley, birthplace of the Free Speech Movement, has stabbed free speech in the back once again.

Last week it effectively canceled a long planned speech by David Horowitz. Today it canceled a long planned speech by Ann Coulter scheduled for April 27.

As they did with Horowitz, UC officials, citing safety concerns, first tried to bureaucratically shrink the Coulter speech out of existence by informing Young Americans for Freedom, sponsors of the event, that Coulter could speak only in the afternoon when students were in classes; that only students could attend; and, in a Kafkaesque twist, that the location of the speech would be distant from the center of campus and not be announced until just before it occurred.

Coulter agreed to these conditions. But she added two stipulations that called the bureaucrats’ bluff that this was about public safety rather than the suppression of the free speech of conservatives. She asked that the Chancellor not require police to stand down in the face of anticipated violence by thugs, as he has in the past; and she asked that the UC administration make it clear than any student trying violently to disrupt the speech would be expelled.

The University replied by cancelling Coulter’s speech outright.

Berkeley officials are no doubt congratulating themselves that they have dodged another bullet and that the smokescreen created by their histrionic concerns for “public safety” will conceal their unwillingness to defend free speech and prevent their campus from being cleansed of conservative ideas.

  26. The Left’s Ultimate Plan Revealed
Thanks to a hoax pulled on the Huffington Post.
    April 20, 2017
    Jack Kerwick

For a distillation of the contemporary left’s worldview, one needn’t look any further than a blog post that was recently published at the Huffington Post: “Could it Be Time to Deny White Men the Franchise?”

At least one could have turned to this post—until HuffPo took it down. But we’ll get to that shortly.

The author, a person going by the name of “Shelley Garland,” a self-declared South African and graduate student in philosophy, argued that it is morally necessary to temporarily deny the franchise to white men.

Moreover, at least some of their resources should be repossessed and “redistributed” to others.

Garland explains her reasons. First, white men are bad for left-wing progressivism. “Some of the biggest blows to the progressive cause in the past year,” she writes, “have often been due to the votes of white men.” She gives examples. “If white men were not allowed to vote, it is unlikely that the United Kingdom would be leaving the European Union, it is unlikely that Donald Trump would now be the President of the United States, and it is unlikely that the Democratic Alliance would now be governing four of South Africa’s biggest cities.”

The “Shelley Garland” post was a hoax.

A person, a female, claiming to be the author of the piece referred to it as “total garbage” that she packed with clichés—“black and female-identifying bodies,” “patriarchy,” etc.—that are common currency among the “less sensible left.”

“Shelley Garland” supplied to the nation an invaluable service. In one little article, she revealed for all with eyes to see the gist to which the agenda of today’s left ultimately boils down:

It is resolutely, vehemently anti-white, specifically anti-white men.

Leftists almost always hide behind abstractions and generalities. They know that if they are too overt in expressing their plans for the rest of us, the latter would stall. A real leftist wouldn’t want to state things as baldly as “Garland” did. But as Pillay made abundantly clear before she and her employer had to go into damage control, “Garland’s” is the position of the hard left, and has been “for decades now.”

Thank you, “Shelley Garland,” for unveiling the truth.

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/266441/lefts-ultimate-plan-revealed-jack-kerwick

(Richard: The reason it was taken seriously is that it fits with everything the left has been doing for many decades.

    • Richard: The reason it was taken seriously is that it fits with everything the left has been doing for many decades.

Agreed. One of the (many) real corkers in this fauxming polemic:

First, white men are bad for left-wing progressivism. “Some of the biggest blows to the progressive cause in the past year,” she writes, “have often been due to the votes of white men.”

White men are largely responsible for thwarting “the progressive cause” because a principal motivation of theirs has been to build Civilization (as we know it) and not deconstruct it. As recent history has proven time and again, “left-wing progressivism”—be it in the style of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot—has produced the most mountainous heaps of skulls since India’s Muslim conquest.

I definitely agree that HuffPo’s editors must have been shouting “hallelujah!” as they read this bit of histrionic drivel. One can only imagine their crestfallen visages once they realized that they were being led down the organically fertilized primrose path.

      Insert schadenfreude giggle >here<.

  27. Democracy Dies with a Heckler’s Veto

Democracy Dies in Darkness was the Post’s grandstanding response. But it’s the heckler’s veto that truly kills free societies. Whether it’s Muslim terrorists who hate cartoons or leftists who reject free speech, the blackmail of violence, real or threatened, brings the marketplace of ideas to a halt.

Berkeley was once renowned as the home of the Free Speech movement. Increasingly it’s becoming the place where free speech goes to die. The shadow of the heckler’s veto is spread by an institutional left that is eager for the excuse to impose it.

Not all hecklers are created equal. The hecklers of the left always have special privileges. And when the heckler’s veto is exercised, we must look beyond the hecklers, their bats and pepper spray, to the institutions that aid and abet them.

If a society means anything, it must have the ability to maintain public spaces free of the heckler’s veto. Without it, a society is little more than violent Socialist blackmail with a human face.

  28. The Bay of Pigs 56 Years Later
When U.S. airstrikes could have destroyed a terrorist regime, freed a nation and altered history.

Where are the planes?!” kept crackling over U.S. Navy radios exactly 56 years ago this week. The U.S. Naval armada (22 ships including the Carrier Essex loaded with deadly Skyhawk jets.) was sitting 16 miles off the southern Cuban coast near an inlet known as Bahia de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs). The question — bellowed between blasts from a Soviet artillery and tank barrage landing around him — came from commander Jose San Roman.

“Send planes or we can’t last!” San Roman kept pleading to the very fleet that escorted his men to the beachhead (and sat much closer to them than the U.S. destroyers Porter and Ross sat to the Syrian coast this week.) Meanwhile the Soviet artillery barrage intensified, the Soviet T-34 and Stalin tanks closed in, and San Roman’s casualties piled up.

By that date the terrorists who ran (and still run) Cuba had been operating terror-training camps for two years, had kidnapped, tortured and murdered dozens of American (to say nothing of tens of thousands of Cubans.) A year later they wantonly brought Western civilization a whisker from nuclear destruction. If foreign terrorists ever merited a MOAB, it was these– based 90 miles from U.S. shores.

Crazed by hunger and thirst the Cuban freedom-fighters had been shooting and reloading without sleep for three days. Many were hallucinating. By then many suspected they’d been abandoned by the Knights of Camelot.

That’s when Castro’s Soviet Howitzers opened up again, huge 122 mm ones, four batteries’ worth. They pounded 2,000 rounds into the freedom-fighters over a four-hour period. “It sounded like the end of the world,” one recalled later to your humble servant here.

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/266440/bay-pigs-56-years-later-humberto-fontova

    • I remember the Bay of Pigs, the way the Kennedy administration and the media played down Kennedys betrayal of the freedom loving Cubans who died fighting for their nation. Kennedy and his Ivory Towered advisors betrayed the Cubans a second time a year later when he let the Soviets bluff him and he cancelled the liberation of Cuba. A move that allowed the communist cancer to fester in Cuba and eventually spred to most of South America. We don’t pay as much attention to South America as we should be we have betrayed the people living down there by allowing the Venezuelan government to destroy what was the richest nation in South America.

      • All the predators have taken advantage of our negligence.

When then-Senator Tim Kaine popped up as DemonRat VP-candidate, his Central American bona fides were barely mentioned.

Kaine took an unusual hiatus from law school to mess around in Honduras, 1980-81.

“Liberation-Theology” troublemakers, according to my friend the Prof. Emeritus at Boston College, justified their existence by giving “Jesuits a WORSE name.” He saw the Jesuits serving as cover for bad hombres, not for the first time.

Kaine was turned by Soros to the MB, and now as head of the DNC, he’s a serious threat to our future. GoV has been following his spoor for years:

A Blast From the Past, Citizen Kaine
        http://gatesofvienna.net/2016/07/a-blast-from-the-past-citizen-kaine/

      • Richard, please do not be so harsh upon America’s otherwise despicable faltering during its opportunity for reversing Cuba’s slide into Communism.

What must not be forgotten is the original, crucial role of Spanish Colonialism with respect to installing intensely corrupt dictatorships, Theocracies, and Monarchies throughout the Caribbean—much less the entirety of Central and Latin America.

Without this dysfunctional colonial foothold, Communism’s appeal to so many oppressed peons—along with its false promises of land ownership—would never have had the slightest chance of success. A single glance at how Mao’s avowed intent to free Chinese peasant populations from their “shackles of the land”—even as the Politburo’s “hukou” system of mobility passes chained them far worse—is a prime example of how these promises were repeatedly broken to all and sundry around the world in the name of entrenching elitist and pseudo-aristocratic power structures.

Cuba and its south-of-the-border compatriots (essentially) were doomed long before youthful and naïve Federalist America arrived on the scene. Does this relieve the USA of all guilt? Absolutely not.

However, neither does it mean that we should flog ourselves for the colonial sins of European powers that our nation’s forefathers shed their precious blood to evict from our shores.

        • I was trying to flog the Kennedy’s and the Democrats, not everyone in the US.

Yes the Spanish occupation of Mexico, Cuba, Central America and South America planted the seds of the destruction of the nations. I was ranting because of the way that Marxism has allowed the jihadisgts from oil rich countries to move in and buy up so much of South America. That is a looming crisis that most people are ignoring and one that will strain the US and Canada much more then just Europe. We are probably going to be faced with the problem of how to vet the refugees from down south and possibly from Europe. Without Marxism bankrupting the Southern nations the Jihadists wouldn’t have been able to buy up so much down there. Of course without Obama and hte other Marxistgs trying to bankrupt the US China wouldn’t have been able to buy uip so much in the US and Canada.

        • Ease up on poor Mama España! That was a long time ago, and the Old Girl hasn’t had such an easy time herself…

  29. Russian Interference: Asserted without proof shall be denied without proof

We all know that the Russians hacked DNC computers, intervening in the 2016 election in an effort to subvert our democracy and help Donald Trump win the presidency. How do we know this? The Washington Post, New York Times, ABC, CBS, CNN and the rest of the mainstream media told us that all 17 intelligence agencies – who knew we had so many? – concluded that the Russians interfered with our democratic process. “The most trusted news” failed to mention, however, that not a single intelligence agency has released a shred of actual evidence proving that the Russians “hacked” the DNC.

But the hostile and condescending mainstream media, obsessively geared to uncovering a large-scale malfeasance that would derail the Trump presidency, is not interested in evidence. A curious blend of bitterness, anger and disbelief drive the media to embrace a myth in order to explain the Democrats’ loss. Since it could not possibly be the Democratic Party’s socialist ideology and/or its dishonest and deceitful candidate, the only politically acceptable alibi was outside influence.

Ideological passion compelled the media to replace the ancient Roman tenet of “Asserted without proof shall be denied without proof” with Lenin’s maxim, “A lie told often enough becomes the truth,” and run with the story.

  30. MEMRI: April 18, 2017 Special Dispatch No.6880
Russia In Syria: All Pain And No Gain

An article by the leader of the liberal Russian party Yabloko, Grigory Yavlinsky, titled “Russia’s Deadlock in Syria” was posted on his party’s website on April 13, 2017.[1] In his article, written in the aftermath of the chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhun and the American retaliatory strike on the Shayrat base, Yavlinksy flayed Putin’s policy in Syria. He claimed that Assad was a loose cannon who controlled Russia more than Russia controlled him despite Russia’s costly investment in the Syrian regime. Furthermore, Russia’s policy had left it without reliable allies in the region, while alienating the Trump administration in which Russia had placed such high hopes.

Russia, argued Yavlinsky, had pressing needs at home and could not financially sustain a quagmire in Syria, while simultaneously overextending itself in Ukraine, Libya, and conducting an arms race with the Americans. In sum, the military involvement in Syria would soon resemble the tragedy of the Soviet Union’s involvement in Afghanistan and if Russia sought to avoid a recurrence of that nightmare it had to withdraw immediately from Syria.

Two policemenhave been killed and one other injured in the shooting.

At least two attackers are involved, with one on the run and the other killed, an interior ministry source confirmed.

The gunman killed at the scene was known to security sources with officers searching his home to the east of Paris, a police source said.

One eyewitness said a man got out of a car and began shooting “with a Kalashnikov”, hitting a policeman.

The police union said the officer was killed in car while stopped at a red light with the attacker driving by.

As armed police rushed to the scene, a police source said shots have been fired at a new location near the Champs Elysees Avenue.

Police are warning people to avoid the area with residents evacuated from nearby buildings.

French TV channel BFM broadcast footage of the Arc de Triomphe monument and top half of the Champs Elysees packed with police vans, lights flashing and heavily armed police shutting the area down after what was described by one journalist as a major exchange of fire near a Marks and Spencers store.

Three police sources said the shooting could have been an attempt at an armed robbery, according to Reuters.

French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said police officers were deliberately targeted in the Paris Champs Elysees avenue shooting, but it is too early to say what the motive was.

Police sources had said earlier that the shooting could have been an attempt at an armed robbery.

The UK Foreign Office said: “The British Embassy is in contact with local authorities and urgently seeking further information following reports of a shooting incident on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

“You should remain vigilant and follow the advice of the local security authorities and/or your tour operator.

“If you’re in the area and it is safe to do so, contact your friends and family to tell them you are safe.”

Local metro stations have been shut down as police hunt the second attacker.

PARIS (Reuters) – One policeman was killed and another wounded in a shooting incident in central Paris on Thursday night, a police source said.

A person who fired on police on the Champs-Elysees shopping boulevard just days ahead of France’s presidential election has been killed, the source said. A police source also said there had been two assailants, and a witness told Reuters that one man got out of a car at the scene and began shooting with a machine gun.

Police authorities called on the public to avoid the area.

A Reuters reporter saw a helicopter flying low over central Paris, apparently part of a follow-up police operation.

French TV channel BFM broadcast footage of the Arc de Triomphe monument and top half of the Champs Elysees packed with police vans, lights flashing and heavily armed police shutting the area down after what was described by one journalist as a major exchange of fire nears a Marks and Spencers store.

The incident came as French voters prepared go to the polls on Sunday in the most tightly-contested presidential election in living memory.

France has lived under a state of emergency since 2015 and has suffered a spate of Islamist militant attacks that have killed more than 230 people in the past two years.

Earlier this week, two men were arrested in Marseille whom police said had been planning an attack ahead of the election.

A machine gun, two hand guns and three kilos of TATP explosive were among the weapons found at a flat in the southern city along with jihadist propaganda materials according to the Paris prosecutor.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/794229/london-sutcliffe-park-kidbrooke-horror-attack-woman-raped-broad-daylight

“A MANHUNT has been launched after a woman was robbed and raped at knifepoint in a horrific daytime attack in south east London.

The victim, aged in her 40s, was walking through Sutcliffe Park in Kidbrooke when a man threatened her with a knife, before launching into a sickening sex attack.

Following the brutal assault, which took place around 2.15pm on Wednesday, the rapist stole the victim’s handbag before fleeing the scene.

Reports suggest the victim’s cries were heard by passers-by who ran to help her.

Abby Nicole, 19, was walking her dogs through the park with her boyfriend and a friend when they heard the woman in distress.

Speaking to the Standard, she said: “We heard a horrifying scream, one that didn’t sound like someone playing around.

“All three of us knew something was wrong so we ran to where to where the scream had come from and saw a man running off and another man chasing after him.

“We then saw a woman sitting on the grass, crying her eyes out and went straight over to her.

“She then claimed she had been approached by a young black male who was carrying a knife and he proceeded to drag her into the bushes and then go onto rape her.

“She said before he left he took all of her belongings including her bag, money and phone.”

Police say the woman was taken to hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged and is being supported by specialist officers.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The suspect is described as a black male, aged in his early 20s.

“He was wearing dark clothing and carrying a JD Sports drawstring-style bag.

“The victim’s handbag – described as white with long handles/straps – was also stolen.”

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command are investigating.

“Time has come to start a fundamental discussion on EU-Turkey relations following the April 16 referendum on constitutional amendments shifting the country’s governance system to an executive presidency, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn has said.

“The negotiations have already come to a point of failure due to the significant decline in Turkey in terms of the rule of law and media freedom. Currently, a new chapter cannot be opened even if the vast majority of the EU countries did not want to formally freeze the negotiations. After the referendum, however, time has come to start a fundamental discussion on EU-Turkey relations, including a possible re-evaluation of relations,” Hahn said in an interview with German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) on April 19.

When asked about the potential date for such a discussion, the commissioner pointed to the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers later this month…”
