The Russian official view of the US attack on a Syrian airbase

(However one may feel about Putin’s Russia, friend or foe, Ally or despot, not listening to their official propaganda is unwise.)

  1. This is absolutely dreadful. It’s as if George Soros kidnapped the real Donald Trump and left this guy in his place. This makes no sense whatsoever. Now the whole way forward just got impossibly muddy. How could Trump be so stupid?

    • I’m confused. Our enemies are cheering Trump. Something us terribly wrong. I understand we should get behind him, but he must be True Blue!

  2. US Planes are Fair Game Now: Russia Suspends Flight Safety Memorandum over Syria after US Missile Strike

Russia has suspended the memorandum of understanding on flight safety in Syria with the United States amid the US missile strike on Syria’s Shayrat military airfield, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement.

“Without bothering to investigate anything, the US went forward with a demonstration of force, a military confrontation with a country that is fighting international terrorism,” the Foreign Ministry’s statement reads.

The US launched some 60 Tomahawk missiles at the Syrian military airbase in the Homs governorate early on Friday. The attack came after US President Donald Trump pinned the blame for an alleged chemical attack in Idlib on Syria’s government.

“Obviously, the cruise missile attack was prepared beforehand. Any expert can tell that the decision to strike was made in Washington before the events in Idlib, which were used as a pretext for a demonstration,” the statement reads.

The Memorandum on air safety was signed in October 2015, after Russia came to Syria to fight international terrorism at the invitation of the country’s government. The document of understanding was designed to prevent possible mishaps between the Russian and US Air Forces operating independently in the region.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack as an example of the “reckless attitude” that has only worsened “existing world issues”and created a “threat to international security.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry firmly dismissed any allegations of chemical weapons use by the Syrian military, saying Syria’s government does not possess any such weapons. This was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The OPCW has “inspected virtually all the objects in Syria which were connected, or could be connected, to the country’s chemical warfare program.”

The incident in Idlib was a result of an air raid by Syrian forces, which hit a facility where terrorists produced chemical filled shells for usage in Syria and Iraq, Moscow believes.

The US pretends it doesn’t get obvious things. It turned a blind eye on terrorist usage of chemical weapons in Iraq, which Baghdad officially reported. It dismissed documented cases of terrorist chemical warfare usage in Aleppo.

All this does is abet international terrorism and bolster it,” the statement reads, adding that new terrorist attacks “with weapons of mass destruction” are now to be expected.

  3. Haley to UN: US ‘prepared to do more’ in Syria

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned Friday that the US “is prepared to do more” in response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Speaking one day after the US launched strikes against the airbase that was home to warplanes that carried out a chemical attack against civilians earlier this week, Haley also slammed Russia for supporting Assad.

“The United States took a very measured step last night,” Haley said in concluding her remarks. “We are prepared to do more. But we hope that will not be necessary. It is time for all civilized nations to stop the horrors that are taking place in Syria and demand a political solution.”

  4. I doubt if this is a worst case where Russia and the US will start shooting at each other. The air defense system in place is support to be able to degrade any cruise missile attack but no anti missile fire occurred. The runways weren’t cratered to make the base unusable, the fortified hangers weren’t touched and a tomahawk should have been able to fly in through the doors. To top it all off President Trumps enemies are praising him! Something is going on and I have no idea what.

  5. trump is falling into a very old trap the arabs set for us westerners.
I thought he would be better about this kind of thing.
this along with agreeing to host a “mideast peace conference” shows any casual observer that he’s biting the same old tired bait his predecessors have had for years.
    when will they learn??

    • Wait for it……Trump is way smarter than taking the bait as you put it !! Did you watch the video ? Very little damage was done at the airbase !! Do you think that was because the US navy can’t shoot straight ?? This strike went exactly as planned !! This was all about trump sending a message to the world from the new sheriff in town. Trump is no fool, he knows the US has been supporting the terrorists in Syria. I believe that there is going to be a change in the US support in Syria. Don’t ask the people that have fled Syria if they support Assad or the rebels….they support the rebels. Ask the people that are still in Syria if they support Assad…..they do !!

      • One might add that it cant be a civil war when all the opposition are foreign Sunni jihadis.

  6. “Condemnation without investigation is the highest level of ignorance “.
So think about this: not really any damages, death? ( need to see deaths certificates if they were any). Russia is delivering oil/gas to Europe who is under attack: Muslims, illegal immigration, brexit, …
Where are or were the USA when Christians in Allepo were killed?
thanks for the video Vlad Tepes , good comments that make us think.
Apparently only North Korea & China who did not know about US strike…
Russia, Syria , Saudi Arabia, turkey and Egypt all new …

On Alex Jones 4/07 : America is no longer interest in foreign wars or regime change.

    …will see

Former British Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford believes that the chemical attack in the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun may not have been committed by the Assad regime.

  8. the independent – Russia says US air strikes in Syria came ‘within an inch’ of military clash with their forces

Satellite imagery suggests the base that was struck is home to Russian special forces and military helicopters

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has said the US air strike on a Syrian air base came “within an inch” of militarily clashing with their forces.

He said the action taken by the Americans was in breach of international law and their own internal procedures, and accused Washington of “barely avoiding combat clashes with Russia”.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Medvedev said the air strike had “completely ruined relations” between the two superpowers.

However, the US says it warned Russia one hour before it fired 59 tomahawk cruise missiles at the Shayrat air base.

Satellite imagery suggests the base that was struck is home to Russian special forces and military helicopters, part of the Kremlin’s effort to help the Syrian government fight Islamic State and other militant groups.

No Russian personnel were caught up in the strike.

Syrian state media has claimed that a US missile attack on a government air base has killed seven people, including four children.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said the strike deliberately avoided sections of the base where the Russians were believed to be present.

Briefing reporters on the operation, he said the US military had “multiple” conversations with Russian forces on Thursday before the strike, using a line of communication that had previously been established to prevent an accidental clash in Syria during the fight against Isis.

    Mr Medvedev’s statement in full:

“That’s it. The last remaining election fog has lifted. Instead of an overworked statement about a joint fight against the biggest enemy, Isis (the Islamic State), the Trump administration proved that it will fiercely fight the legitimate Syrian government, in a tough contradiction with international law and without UN approval, in violation of its own procedures stipulating that the Congress must first be notified of any military operation unrelated to aggression against the US. On the verge of a military clash with Russia.

“Nobody is overestimating the value of pre-election promises but there must be limits of decency.

“Beyond that is absolute mistrust. Which is really sad for our now completely ruined relations. And which is good news for terrorists.

“One more thing. This military action is a clear indication of the US President’s extreme dependency on the opinion of the Washington establishment, the one that the new president strongly criticised in his inauguration speech.

“Soon after his victory, I noted that everything would depend on how soon Trump’s election promises would be broken by the existing power machine. It took only two and a half months.”
