  1. U.S. Changes Rules of Engagement for Mosul Fight in Iraq
?In the fight against ISIS in Mosul, the U.S. has adjusted its rules of engagement as American and other international troops are now closer to front-line fighting than before. During the push to take Mosul International Airport on Thursday, American and European advisers were embedded with forward Iraqi rapid response and special forces units.?
Coalition officials say the changes are helping speed up Iraqi military gains, but they also reflect lingering shortcomings on the part of Iraq’s armed forces.

    • The Donald and his advisers are loosening the controls and giving more authority to the people on the battle field. No more waiting for DC to move before you can return fire or call in counter battery fire. This is something the combat troops always want and that the Dems always oppose, the Dems don’t trust the people doing the fighting to do the right thing.

  2. Human Rights Watch’s Political War Against Israel

The Israeli government has denied a work visa for Omar Shakir, the Israel and Palestine Country Director for Human Rights Watch. Shakir is a strident supporter of BDS (boycotts, divestment, sanctions) tactics. Before joining HRW, Shakir was a legal fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), an organization that provides legal assistance and training to BDS activists and has filed “war crimes” lawsuits against Israeli officials.

“For two decades, Human Rights Watch has been one of the most blatant and aggressive anti-Israel NGOs in the world,” said Prof. Gerald Steinberg, president of NGO Monitor. “Their defenders need to ask why they systematically hire pro-BDS activists for key Israel-related ‘research’ positions, while lobbying to isolate Israel through false allegations….If HRW and its backers wish to be taken seriously, they need to start acting in a manner consistent with the principles of universal human rights, including with respect to Israel.”

  3. reuters -Pentagon delivers draft plan to defeat Islamic State to White House

A Pentagon-led preliminary plan to defeat Islamic State has been delivered to the White House and U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis will brief senior administration officials later on Monday, a Defense Department spokesman told reporters.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters that the it was the framework for a broader plan and looked at Islamic State around the world, not just Iraq and Syria.

He added that Mattis would brief members of the cabinet-level Principals Committee on Monday afternoon.

    • it was the framework for a broader plan and looked at Islamic State around the world, not just Iraq and Syria.

Its about time we recognized this is a global war and not a regional war.

  4. UK – Jailed: Londoner who draped himself in black flag of Isis

Two Londoners, including a man who photographed himself draped in the black flag of Isis, have been jailed for terror offences.

Mohammed Mayow, and 21-year-old Mohanned Jasim were arrested at Dover Eastern Docks by police as they were trying to leave the UK.

Mayow, 23, had tweeted internet links to material related to Islamic State as well as a message which read: “I can’t wait for the day we fight AmeriC***S”.

Mayow, of Dorset Avenue, Hayes, eventually admitted six counts of distributing a terrorist publication.

Jasim, of Montague Street, Southall, pleaded guilty to publishing a statement to encourage others to commit an act of terrorism.

He had also shared tweets encouraging terrorism

On Friday, Mayow was jailed for five years and two months, while Jasim was handed a two-year sentence.

Detective Superintendent Ian Hunter, Head of Investigations for the South East Counter Terrorism Unit (SECTU), said: “This has been a detailed investigation, which has led to the defendants pleading guilty in light of the weight of evidence against them.

“These arrests were a direct result of good work by Kent Police officers at the Port of Dover who intervened to stop them leaving the country.

“Whilst we cannot be certain exactly where Mayow and Jasim were heading or what they intended to do, the subsequent investigation enabled these offences to be identified and today’s sentences reflect the seriousness of sharing extremist material.”

  5. An observation by an Israeli who’s very plugged in. It serves as intro to the article linked below it. Voices concerns shared by many – including this YankeeKafir.

I am in touch with a number of experts who say that Flynn didn’t lie to Pence. It is obvious that Trump wanted him out rather than in. He could have stood by him. But there is more to it than that. Why didn’t Trump replace him with a similar minded guy. On the contrary he chose the opposite who espoused that Islam is a religion of peace. Did Trump want to abandon his line about “radical Islamist terrorism”? We will have to see if Trump continues using that phrase.

The fact that McMaster in his first public remarks after his appointment, stood in opposition to his boss. Its like he was giving a message. McMaster also immediately selected McCain to head an important committee on National Security. Perhaps Trump through Flynn under the bus in a deal made with McCain to buy McCain’s silence on Russia and Islam. We will see.
    ………..
Michael Ledeen [very solid] writing in Forbes:
    The Flynn Assassination

Why should I challenge the powerful words of Bryan Wright or the extensive reporting of Adam Kredo? The political assassination of General Mike Flynn was carried out by a cabal of CIA officials and Obama loyalists, in tandem with allies in the media. It’s an ugly spectacle, damaging to our national interests, and perhaps unique in our history, as Senator Cruz has said.

Flynn’s phone calls with Russian officials, which took place before he officially entered the White House, do not appear to violate any law. Yet the release of classified information about them certainly is a crime. As Wright says, “The spies who are plotting against President Trump are breaking U.S. laws. They’re violating their oaths. And they’re committing treason to remedy (perceived) treason.”

    • New York Slimes:
Will Trump Take ‘Brutally Forthright’ Advice From McMaster?

WASHINGTON — As commander of an armored cavalry troop, H. R. McMaster fought in the largest tank battle of the Persian Gulf war, earning a Silver Star in the process. Afterward, the young captain reflected on how different his experience had been from the accounts he had read about Vietnam.

So when he arrived at the University of North Carolina for graduate studies in fall 1992, questions swirled through his head: How had Vietnam become an American war? Why did American troops die without a clear idea of their mission? “I began to seek answers to those questions,” he later wrote.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/25/us/politics/hr-mcmaster-trump.html?ref=politics&_r=0

    • Maybe you’ve seen this article by Robert Spencer, but it fits here very well.

Israeli comment: The fact that McMaster should say these things within days after his appointment tells us a lot. And you can assume that the resignation of Flynn was part of the deal. Normally, if Flynn had to go for some error you would expect that a “look-alike” would be appointed in his place. This time the opposite.
The question is, what did Trump get in return?

THE MCMASTER PICK: SCORE ONE FOR THE SWAMP?

President Trump has confirmed that retired Lt. General H.R. McMaster is his new choice to be his National Security Adviser. There have been indications that the Republican establishment has been trying to co-opt Trump and keep him from effecting the sweeping reform that he has promised, and this appointment could indicate that at least for the moment, these forces have gained the upper hand.

A source that has asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals has informed me that he was present in August 2014 when McMaster was the featured speaker for the President’s Lecture Series at National Defense University in Washington, D.C. McMaster addressed an assembly of all the students in the colleges of the university, including the National War College, the College of International Security Affairs (CISA), the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (formerly the Industrial College of the Armed Forces), and the others.

No transcript or video is publicly available, but there was a large crowd, and multiple witnesses.

In his address, McMaster said flatly: “The Islamic State is not Islamic.”

      • The swamp won that one, we will have to wait and see how many the President can and how many the swamp can win. The State Department is being cleared of enemies (according to some reports)

        • Sorry for the missed link. Some [good, subversive] Israeli sites don’t pass filters on WordPress, et al.

          Swamp vs We-the-People?
I’m not as optimistic as I once was. Though I enjoy and appreciate many of the fine Deplorables at places like The Conservative Treehouse, I’m dismayed by their cultish, dog-loyalty to a single individual – DJT.

Superman needs kryptonite. There may not be enough of it in this valley of the shadows.

          ……
Now I have to clean caches, toss cookies, restart.

          • I am still optimistic that in the long run we the people will win, I hoped/prayed that the election of DJT meant that the government would be on our side in the coming civil war. Looks like some will and some won’t.

I am not trying to be flip, we will still win but it will take longer.

            • One thing’s for sure: The Witch would’ve been worse.

I’m still optimistic but not exuberantly so, as before. Just coming down to earth, I guess.

I’m worried about the Ides of March.
              – That’s the date the debt-ceiling freeze cooked up by 0 and John Boehner expires. We’ll be out of cash by summer.

              – Election Day, the Netherlands. Will Geert Wilders be ok?
Holland doesn’t deserve him, that’s for damn sure. But he’s more than Holland, he’s the finger in the dike for Western Civ in Europe.

              • The Witch would have been much worse, if she had won we would be in a full scale civil war by now.

The debt ceiling will be reached and then there will be various deals to raise the ceiling. In the long run this is the second most important problem the US has. The most important is the way Obama and company destroyed the US military.

Geert is the finger in the dike for Europe and le Pen is his trusted helper. At least I am praying that things work out that way and that le Pen can be trusted.

Going back to the deft, keep an eye on what is happening in Greece, One of the real big German Banks is saying no more bailouts for Greece. This will mean that in order to try and save the Euro they will have to kick Greece out of the EU and the Euro zone. I am not sure about the timing but it may occur in time to help Geert and le Pen.

  6. Muslim Reform Group Reached Out to 3,000 US Mosques, Got Only 9 positive Responses: So much for the moderate Muslim.

In December 2015, a small group of Muslims met in Washington, DC to discuss the reform of Islam. With media fanfare, they named themselves the Muslim Reform Movement (MRM), issued a Declaration for Muslim Reform, and became the new face of “Muslim reformers.”

There was just one fundamental problem: the MRM never had support from the larger Muslim community.…

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, one of the MRM founders, admitted this on January 30, 2017…
“We spent significant resources on this outreach over a period of ten months. We reached out through snail mail, e-mail, and telephone to over 3,000 mosques and over 500 known public American Muslims. We received only 40-plus rather dismissive responses from our outreach, and sadly less than ten of them were positive. In fact, one mosque in South Carolina left us a vicious voice mail threatening our staff if we contacted them again.”

  7. Aliens Trespassing
Sen. Schumer, his congressional cohorts, and leftist hypocrisy.

In order to minimize the dangers posed by aliens who run our borders and evade the inspection process, open borders / immigration anarchists insist that such illegal aliens are simply entering “Undocumented.” However, the unmistakeable truth is that these aliens are, in the parlance of immigration enforcement personnel, “Entering Without Inspection” (EWI).

For decades, beginning with the duplicitous efforts of President Jimmy Carter: Originator Of The Orwellian Term ‘Undocomented Immigrant’ to blur the distinction between lawful immigrants and illegal aliens, globalists inside as well as outside our government, have sought to undermine the enforcement of our immigration laws.

Recently, many journalists have whined that illegal aliens who purportedly have no “serious criminal histories” have been arrested by ICE under the Trump administration, ignoring that aliens who enter the United States illegally or violate the terms of lawful admissions are subject to arrest and removal (deportation) irrespective of whether or not they violated any other laws.

An alien who enters without inspection violates Title 8 U.S. Code § 1325 – Improper entry by alien and may face up to 2 years in prison if he/she has done this more than once.

Furthermore, an alien who has been previously deported and subsequently reenters without authority commits a felony that may, if the alien has a serious criminal history, carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison under Title 8 U.S. Code § 1326 – Reentry of removed aliens.

  8. Reshaping NATO?
Should the new Trump administration transform the Western military alliance?
    February 27, 2017
    Joseph Puder

During the 2016 election campaign, candidate Donald Trump called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) irrelevant. Bloomberg reported on January 15, 2017, that “Repeating criticism of NATO he made during his campaign, Trump said that while Trans-Atlantic military alliance is important, it has problems.” In an interview with the German Newspaper Bild, President Trump described NATO as “obsolete,” and added, “Secondly, countries aren’t paying what they should, and NATO didn’t deal with terrorism.” Trump is right on all three assertions.

Since the Cold War began in the late 1940’s, the Atlantic Alliance was instrumental in deterring Soviet expansionism in Europe. NATO kept the Soviets out of Western Europe, the U.S. Marshall Plan created economic stability, while hundreds of thousands of U.S. G.I.’s stationed in Europe, insured peace and security. The collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990’s put into question NATO’s mission, which was hitherto designed to block Soviet aggressive expansionism, and protecting European democracies.

At that juncture, there were a number of high powered voices calling for the dismantling of NATO, and it was thought that a weakened Russia no longer posed a threat. Others however suggested keeping the alliance as a safety net. The civil war in the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990’s provided NATO and its advocates with a renewed purpose. NATO became a multinational force able to act on the periphery of the Continent, able to enforce relative peace among the warring parties. Peace enforcement then became the heart of NATO’s mission.

  9. Attempts to terrorize Americans with telephoned bomb threats to institutions at the foundation of civic life for American Jews increased a few hours ago to include schools along with community centers. (No telephone calls for bomb threats to cemeteries.) Why Alabama? I mean, it’s at the beginning of the alphabet and Alaska and Arkansas weren’t worth bothering with? Who is working at tracking down the criminals? I’m sorry. I can’t help but have a wry sense of humor. Why is anyone picking up the phone????? Put the callers out of business. How to bypass the phone system so that only real calls go through?

    https://twitter.com/NBCNightlyNews/status/836317054579970048
UPDATE: Bomb threats called into at least 13 JCCs, 7 Jewish day schools in AL, DE, FL, IN, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA –

    • Something like 50 antisemitic acts of vandalism have taken place across the US recently.

So far I have not been able to find any photos of the graffiti they leave. That would tell us a lot.

They are quite conspicuously absent actually.

The BBC article turns it around and makes it about Islamophobia

      http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39082013

      • The fact that the propaganda media isn’t broadcasting the graffiti tells us a lot, so does the fact that the authorities are keeping the alternative media away until it is removed.

    • They forgot Massachusetts.
Our JCC had to be shut down for a few hours.
      Plus probably unreported:
      __Harvard Hillel.
__Chabad, Boston – Minor graffiti. I don’t think they called the cops because it was just before candle-lighting.

  10. JihadWatch :

McMaster and Gorka: Understanding or Misunderstanding Islam?

There are two fundamental ways to view Islam in the West, and it is now clear those who hold to the “Islam is a religion of peace” view, which has held sway over the affairs of the West for so long, are fighting a desperate rear-guard action to remain in charge following Trump’s rise to power.

As we watch the public pronouncements and the actions of the new administration, we have to carefully determine which path administration officials are on.

It’s pretty clear that Trump himself, throughout his campaign and with his first appointments, completely rejects the old view of Muslims falling prey to a mass misunderstanding of a peaceful Islam. Michael Flynn rejected this view; that was clear from his many public pronouncements. Having him brought down by the shady leaking of supposedly sensitive gathered intelligence was a blow.

Robert Spencer quoted from the New York Times’ latest piece on Flynn’s replacement as national security adviser, General H. R. McMaster. As ever, to confirm what General McMaster said to the first “all hands” staff meeting of the National Security Council, the New York Times quotes its most reliable government sources by citing “people who were in the meeting” and noting what “several officials said.” Ah yes, those anonymous sources are so busy. According to those anonymous sources and the agenda of the New York Times, therefore, General McMaster is continuing to reaffirm the “Islam is a religion of peace” doctrine. Robert is correct to be suspicious about McMaster’s approach to Islam until we see what practical effect he has in his role.

We also have Dr Sebastian Gorka. Any reasonable reading of his book Defeating Jihad: The Winnable War would place him over toward the Trump and Flynn side regarding the underlying ideology of Islam with deep suspicion. That paints a big target on Dr Gorka. The first shot came from Eli Clifton writing on an obscure blog […]

  11. SCOTUS to Consider Law Forcing Pro-Life Centers to Become ‘Abortion Referral Agencies’

A pro-life lawyer defending pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) announced that his law firm is appealing its First Amendment lawsuit to the United States Supreme Court. According to him, a certain California law would require pro-life pregnancy centers to endorse abortion clinics, thus violating their rights to free speech and religious freedom.

“In essence, the law mandates that pro-life centers become abortion referral agencies, totally against their convictions, against their foundational beliefs, compelling speech,” Tom Glessner, president and CEO of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), told PJ Media in an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

California’s Reproductive FACT (Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency) Act mandates that any facility which provides ultrasounds or prenatal care to pregnant women, or that provides counseling about contraception, or offers pregnancy testing, is required to post the following notice (emphasis added):

  12. the Daily Caller – Mattis Presents White House With ‘Preliminary Plan’ To Defeat ISIS [VIDEO]

Secretary of Defense James Mattis presented his preliminary plan to defeat Islamic State to the Trump administration Monday.

Mattis met with several administration principals in order to get their input, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters during a briefing.

“As you might already know, the Department of Defense presented its preliminary plan to the White House today to defeat ISIS,” said Spicer. “This plan has been delivered by Secretary Mattis, who is currently briefing the principals on the option presented today and seeking their input and feedback.”

While the exact details of the plan are currently unknown, the Pentagon hinted that it will involve multiple government agencies and will tackle the ISIS problem on a global scale.

“It will address ISIS globally, and it is not just a DoD plan,” said Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis. “We’re charged with leading the development of the plan, but it absolutely calls upon the capabilities of other departments.”

Davis noted that the Pentagon took the lead in developing the plan, but was also “working diligently with our interagency partners,” as well as the intelligence community, the Joint Staff and military commanders on the ground fighting the terrorist group.

The new plan will reportedly counter ISIS not only in Syria and Iraq, but also in Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya and southeast Asia.

Part of the plan may include the deployment of conventional ground forces to Syria, according to a CNN report earlier this month.

President Donald Trump made a campaign promise to finally defeat ISIS. He directed the Pentagon to present him with a new plan shortly after taking office.
